Understanding Angioplasty: A Step-by-Step Journey from Blockage to Recovery
Tumblr media
Angioplasty, a medical marvel of modern science, is a procedure that opens blocked or narrowed arteries, restoring blood flow to the heart muscle. If you or someone you know is preparing for this intervention, understanding the journey from pre-procedure preparation to post-procedure recovery can alleviate fears and uncertainties.
Join us as we embark on a comprehensive exploration of the angioplasty procedure, step by step.
Preparation: The Journey Begins Before the procedure commences, thorough preparation is key. Patients typically undergo a series of pre-procedural evaluations, including blood tests, electrocardiograms (ECG), and possibly imaging scans like angiograms. These assessments provide valuable insights into the condition of the arteries and guide the medical team in planning the intervention.
Arrival at the Hospital: Setting the Stage On the day of the procedure, patients arrive at the hospital and are greeted by a team of skilled medical professionals dedicated to their care. After completing necessary paperwork and consenting to the procedure, patients are prepped for the angioplasty in a designated pre-operative area. Here, they receive instructions, have vital signs monitored, and are prepped for anesthesia administration.
Anesthesia: Drifting into Comfort Once in the angiography suite, patients are administered local anesthesia to numb the area where the catheter will be inserted. In some cases, mild sedation may also be provided to help patients relax during the procedure. While fully conscious, patients typically feel minimal discomfort or pain due to the anesthesia.
Catheter Insertion: Navigating the Arterial Pathway With the patient comfortably positioned, the interventional cardiologist begins the procedure by inserting a thin, flexible tube called a catheter into a blood vessel, usually in the groin or wrist. Guided by fluoroscopy, a type of real-time X-ray imaging, the catheter is carefully threaded through the arterial pathway until it reaches the blocked or narrowed area of the coronary artery.
Angiography: Visualizing the Blockage Once the catheter is in position, contrast dye is injected through the catheter, allowing the cardiologist to visualize the arterial anatomy and pinpoint the location and severity of the blockage. This angiographic imaging provides crucial information for planning the subsequent steps of the procedure.
Balloon Inflation: Opening the Artery With the blockage identified, the next step involves inflating a tiny balloon at the tip of the catheter within the narrowed artery. This balloon inflation compresses the plaque against the arterial walls, widening the artery and restoring blood flow to the heart muscle. The duration and pressure of balloon inflation are carefully controlled to achieve optimal results.
Stent Placement: Scaffolding for Support In some cases, a metal mesh tube called a stent is inserted into the newly widened artery to provide structural support and prevent re-narrowing, known as restenosis. The stent is expanded using balloon inflation and remains permanently in place, keeping the artery open and ensuring long-term blood flow.
Recovery: Restoring Health and Vitality Following the procedure, patients are closely monitored in a recovery area for a few hours to ensure stability and assess for any complications. Once deemed safe, patients are discharged with instructions for post-procedural care and follow-up appointments.
Angioplasty is a transformative procedure that restores blood flow to the heart, alleviating symptoms and improving quality of life for countless individuals worldwide. By understanding the step-by-step journey of angioplasty, patients and their loved ones can approach the procedure with confidence and optimism, knowing they are in capable hands every step of the way.

Best Non-Surgical Ways To Treat Heart Blockages In Pune
When it comes to our hearts, blockages can be a big worry. In the past, surgeries were often the main solution, but now, we have some exciting non-surgical options. In this blog, we’ll address all your questions about what is the best treatment for heart blockage, explore new methods that can help you fix your heart without going under the knife. We’ll take a look at EECP therapy, which is like a workout for your heart, and we’ll also talk about non-invasive tests that can give you a clearer picture of your heart’s health.
Discovering Heart Blockage Treatment without Surgery
When it comes to heart blockages, things are changing. In the past, surgery was the main option, but now, there are new ways to tackle this problem that does not involve going under the knife. Let’s explore two exciting non-surgical options:
1. EECP Therapy: A Workout for Your Heart
EECP therapy is a bit like a workout for your heart and the best heart blockage treatment without surgery. It’s a non-surgical treatment that doesn’t require any cuts or anesthesia. During the treatment, you wear cuffs around your legs, and these cuffs inflate and deflate in rhythm with your heartbeat. This helps improve blood flow to your heart.
2. Why EECP Therapy is Exciting & Best Heart Treatment
It’s non-invasive and doesn’t require a hospital stay.
Most people find it comfortable with few to no side effects.
It can improve heart health, making it a great option for those looking to avoid surgery.
3. Non-Invasive Heart Tests
These are tests that give doctors a good look at your heart without any surgery.  Some important non-invasive tests include:
CT Angiography (CCTA) is a high-tech imaging test that shows detailed pictures of your heart’s arteries.
Stress Levels check how your heart responds to stress, which can help identify blockages.
Echocardiography uses sound waves to create pictures of your heart, helping doctor’s see what’s going on inside.
Non-invasive tests are crucial for understanding heart blockages and planning the right treatment.
EECP Therapy: A Non-Surgical Marvel
EECP treatment is one of the best non-surgical options to treat heart blockages. Your best bet when it comes to heart blockage treatment without surgery. It’s like a breath of fresh air for those who want to avoid surgery. During EECP sessions, you simply relax on a comfortable bed while cuffs around your legs inflate and deflate in sync with your heartbeat. This special inflation and deflation process does wonders for your heart health:
No Surgery Involved
EECP therapy is a non-invasive treatment, meaning there are no cuts or anesthesia involved.
Comfortable and Quick
Most people find EECP sessions comfortable and can go about their day aright after the treatment. You can resume your normal life.
Long-Lasting Effects
EECP treatment can improve angina symptoms, exercise ability, and overall quality of life, and these benefits can last for years. What’s more, EECP therapy is often more cost-effective compared to angioplasty, making it a smart choice for many.
Personalized Treatment Plans
What’s great about non-surgical options is that they can be tailored to you. Your treatment plan depends on various factors:
How Bad the Blockages Are:
The extent and location of blockages determine the best treatment approach.
Your Overall Health
Your doctor considers your health history and any other conditions you might have.
Lifestyle Choices
Things like your diet, exercise habits, and stress levels are also taken into account.
Your Preference
Your comfort and preferences matter, ensuring that the chosen treatment aligns with your goals. Working closely with your healthcare team ensures that you get a plan that’s just right for you.
Considering Costs and Accessibility
Cost can be a big concern when it comes to heart blockage treatment. Surgeries can be expensive; recovery takes time and not everyone has the time or can afford them. That’s where non-surgical options like EECP therapy come in. They are often more affordable and accessible. The Pune chelation (Dr. Jyotsna Patil) Heart Treatment Center Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad.  for example, offers the most cost-effective EECP treatment in Pune. Remember, your health should come first. Investing in non-surgical heart blockage treatment isn’t just about your well-being; it can also be a smart financial decision in the long run.
 Conclusion
The world of heart blockage treatment is evolving, offering non-surgical options that are safe, effective, and budget-friendly. By embracing these innovative approaches, individuals can take charge of their heart health without going through surgery, an option for heart blockage treatment with medicine. Always consult with your healthcare provider to determine the best treatment plans for you, ensuring a healthier, surgery-free future filled.

उमाकांत 🇨🇭 *PLEASE CIRCULATE* 🇨🇭 Recently, one person was admitted to a well known hospItal in Pune, for severe chest pain. He had an earlier attack in 2016 and was under treatment. The doctors suggested Angiography. After undergoing Angiography at this multi speciality Hospital, the Doctors diagnosed multiple blockages for which Angioplasty was ruled out and instead, suggested 'Bypass Surgery'. That evening, he was brought home as doctor suggested his heart being very weak, bypass could be performed only after 10 - 15 days, with high risk. Meanwhile, after discussing the matter with relatives and close friends, fresh information came from a family friend. A new treatment known as- *EECP therapy* has been introduced by All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) doctors. Now it is *Approved by the US FDA & T.N GOVT.* Here,Heart blockages will treat without bypass surgery and without Stents, but with this Advanced *EECP Mechine* With this therapy, a patient who has to undergo bypass need not do so.(It is called NATURAL BYPASS) Instead, the patient is given about *20 bottles of IV fluids* in which certain medicines are injected. The medicine cleans the system and *removes all blockages* from the heart and the arteries. The number of bottles given may increase depending upon the age-factor and health of the patient. *Cost per bottle may be around Rs-2,000/-*. Currently, only a few doctors in India specialise in this field *One of them is DR.VIKARAM RATHOD In Pune.* He has a list of patients who had to undergo by-pass from major hospitals. But, after undergoing the new treatment, they are absolutely fine and are leading normal lives, without or with minimum medicines. *This treatment has been done at Chennai**SRI VIVEKANANDA HOSPITAL* also. What is MRI ?
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a medical imaging technology that uses a magnetic field and computer-generated radio waves to create detailed images of various organs and tissues in the human body. An MRI scanner may collect images of any area of the body in any imaging direction (e.g., the head, joints, abdomen, legs, etc.).
MRI can produce computer-generated images of the body’s internal tissues and organs by scanning the body. These 2-dimensional slices can be linked together using complex computer calculations to build a 3-dimensional representation of the area of interest being scanned. This is known as 3D MRI.
Your doctor might suggest you get an MRI done to see the internal organs of your body without surgical procedures.
MRI vs CT Scan
MRI has a higher contrast for soft tissue than CT scans and can distinguish between fat, water, muscle, and other soft tissue (CT is usually better at imaging bones). These visuals give doctors information and can help them diagnose a wide range of ailments and conditions.
How much time does an MRI scan take?
The measure of data your physician is seeking and the body area being scanned will determine the scan time. It also depends upon the machine and technology. The scan time can be anywhere from 15-30 mins.
What is an Angiogram MRI?
Magnetic resonance angiography, often known as a magnetic resonance angiogram or MRA, is a type of MRI that examines the blood arteries of the body. Magnetic resonance angiography is a significantly less intrusive and comfortable examination than a standard angiogram/angiography.
Do I need to be sedated for an MRI scan?

What You Need To Know About Coronary Angiography
Tumblr media
What is Coronary Angiography?
Coronary angiography is a diagnostic test that uses X-ray technology and a contrast dye to create detailed images of the coronary arteries, which supply blood to the heart muscle. The test helps doctors to diagnose and evaluate the severity of narrowed or blocked coronary arteries, which can cause chest pain, shortness of breath, and other symptoms of heart disease. The procedure is performed by threading a thin, flexible tube called a catheter through an artery, typically in the leg or arm, and up to the heart. The contrast dye is then injected through the catheter, and X-ray images are taken to visualize the blood flow in the coronary arteries. Coronary angiography can also be used to guide treatment procedures, such as angioplasty or stenting, to open blocked or narrowed coronary arterie.
Coronary angiography is typically an outpatient procedure that takes about 10 minutes to 15 minutes to complete. However, the total time spent at the hospital may be longer, as there is usually some preparation time and recovery time afterwards. The preparation time may include obtaining informed consent, an IV line insertion, and some blood work, and this can take 30 minutes to an hour. After the procedure, the patient will be monitored for about 4 hours in the recovery room or in the cardiac catheterization lab. So, the total time spent at the hospital can be around 6-8 hours. It is important to note that the time may vary depending on the individual case and the facility where the procedure is being performed.
What are the risks involved in doing coronary angiography?
Allergic reaction to the contrast dye used in the procedure
Bruising or bleeding at the puncture site
Blood clots in leg or wrist artery
Heart attack or stroke
Damage to the blood vessels or heart
Kidney damage
However, these risks are generally considered to be low, and the procedure is considered to be safe when performed by an experienced operator. It is important to discuss the risks and benefits of the procedure with your doctor to determine whether it is appropriate for you.
What is the cost of coronary angiography in India?
The cost of a coronary angiography procedure in India can vary depending on a number of factors such as the location, the hospital, and the type of procedure used. On average, the cost of a coronary angiography procedure in India can range from around 20,000 to 50,000 Indian Rupees. However, in some private hospitals, the cost could be higher. It is important to note that this cost may also vary depending on whether you have health insurance or not, and what type of coverage you have. It is always recommended that you check with your insurance company to see what your policy covers, and to get an estimate of the out-of-pocket costs you will be responsible for.
