Woah, okay, so. Jack doesn't ask about Angela or Charlotte. This is huge.

According to Jane, this was sixteen years before Pink Champagne on Ice, eight years before Red John murdered his family and he joined the CBI. If we use Simon Baker's age for Jane, that would have made him 27 at his and Jack's last meeting. Not only that, but, if we take Jack's lack of interest as a sign that Angela wasn't a part of Jane's life at the time, that meant they met and/or got together pretty late in life...

I mean, "late", of course that's not late in life, but I kind of assumed that they were the carnie equivalent of high school sweethearts. This changes the game.

Also, and this is just a fun fact, to fit Charlotte's age, they'd have had to meet, elope and have her all in three years.

EDIT: I saved this in draft in case Jack mentioned Angela later on, but now Jane said that "16 years ago" was '93??? Either The Mentalist is on some alternate timeline (it was 2012 at the time, I think) or no one in the writers' team knows math.

If there was something I would change about The Mentalist, it would be getting to learn more about Angela and Charlotte. We know some stuff, and I wouldn’t expect like another flashback episode, but I would like to have more moments to learn how they were like, especially regarding Angela since we know so little about her.

(Also something that hits me randomly is how dark the Red John storyline is because Jane lost his wife and his DAUGHTER who was a CHILD!!!!! It definitely did set up for us to be rooting for Jane to take down Red John, though)
