I see a lot of Anders was right and Anders was wrong but hardly anyone making the point that Anders achieved his goal. He started a revolution. The mages are now mostly free of the Circles and Templars (in my world state at least). His plan worked to galvanize resistance and sent a clear message that the Chantry was the real enemy of the mages in Southern Thedas.
To me Anders is neither right nor wrong.
Anders' mental health was down the drain, he had next to no support from his friends, and he discovered that Meredith was going to wipe out Kirkwall's mages. Anders is desperate and in need of an extreme act. Unless people really are advocating he stand aside and watch his people die at the hands of their oppressors?
I always wondered what it must've been like to choose the Chantry to destroy given that he is relatively devout. Was he also blowing up his own faith? His chances at salvation? A final act of self destruction.
