I just have the reoccurring image in my head of Hercules and James sitting together, a little too close, even something as innocent as holding each other's hands or sitting with their legs a little too close when Herc hears a distant rumble of thunder and gets up immediately to put distance between them because oh, no, he's not risking dad finding out before they're ready to say something

#the tragedy being that zeus still gets mad and punishes them #it's like being scared of your parents finding out you're queer but #a level above because his dad is Literally A God #the king of the gods! who sets the rules he has to follow!#no mortal lovers says zeus to his half mortal son #who's already insecure about his place among the olympians #because the rest of them side-eye him and whisper about him being half-mortal #even in a recent story athena straight up tells him he's not one of them #can you imagine carrying that insecurity. being immortal. alive since ancient times.#and your family says youre not allowed to take a mortal companion. youll be punished for it. youve been punished for it before.#and then finally finding a companion who Gets You on the level of being immortal but not a deity #finally someone who won't die on you but you know you're not allowed to get too close #except you Do and then what? what do you do? hide for eternity?#ANYWAY.
