Honestly wasn't expecting to wake up to such kind, thought-provoking responses on this post, I gotta say

I made it at 2am after hours of writing a much bigger script for what I hope to be a YouTube video on Re:Coded as a whole, which also meant lots of rewatching cutscenes to get everything right. So I was writing it at a point where I was already tired and a bit spent on deciding what lines to put a pin in for later, and seeing that this line was changed meant backtracking again. Which was annoying but also kind of funny

I didn't want to let my observation go to waste, so I still made the post, but you guys make a lot of good points here! Just because it wasn't the original line doesn't mean I can't have fun extrapolating on it, or that the addition wasn't still intentional. And either way, an unintended meaning is still a meaning worth looking at.

Because I enjoy being thorough, I'll still double check the original scripts when analyzing stuff, but I'll include it more for the sake of clarity or further analysis rather than to debunk my points, unless the contradiction is like. A really big deal.

So, in honor of your guys' supportive tags, I'll add onto this by saying: it's also notable that Data Sora only introduces himself this way after Data Riku explains to everyone that the two of them are just copies, and that they're all in the datascape. Whether he intuitively knew he was data or not, it's finally been said outright.

And in true Data Sora fashion, he doesn't mind. Even if he just looks like someone his friends know, he never once doubts that they are his friends. And they call him Sora! To a boy with a still half-formed heart, that's about all the identity he needs.

Arguably, transitioning from "I am this" to "my friends call me this" is a sign that he's becoming more human; the second one provides a personal reason for that to be his name, as opposed to just "that's how it was written." He's seemingly more aware of the dynamic between them now, even though he's still just as content with it. That non-committal aspect is still there, it sticks around for a long time, but there's a small shift in his mindset that's implied here, unintended as it may be.

Just now, I was about to be like "the fact that Data Sora introduces himself here by saying his friends call him Sora, instead of saying it's his name outright, shows how non-committal he is about his own identity and his tendency to go along with whatever people tell him about himself"

...but in the original script, he literally just says "I'm Sora." The phrasing was more than likely changed because it needed to fit the lip syncing. Why must they do this to me

Ohh why would you ask me that!! Okay, favorite overall Lone Star episode, and not just for 1 or 2 scenes, has to be 3x13 "Riddle of the Sphynx". That episode just gave us sooo much good Tarlos! We got supportive and jealous/sassy and then understanding Carlos. We got TK attending meetings and doing what he has to do to take care of himself! We got so much tarlos physical affection and that amazing dining table scene!! I recently watched that episode again and that scene blows me away every time, Ronen and Rafa acted their butts off! We get tarlos communicating, even if it's messy communication at first, and so many iconic lines!! "It feels like he's getting pieces of you that I don't" "You don't want those pieces" "I do, I want all of it" "You have all of me, Carlos." Just throw me off a bridge why don't you 🥲, and it's one of the few episodes where I know all the tarlos dialogue word for word. @heartstringsduet are you proud of me 😊. Then TK being affected in the field and being depressed about his own mom, looking at photos telling Carlos, "I'd give anything to feel like that again", and Carlos realizes he is in way over his head and that this isn't about him, it's about TK and what he needs so Carlos gets over that insecurity and reaches out and makes sure TK has the support he needs 🥹 And then the infamous "I love you" with TK "Heart Eyes" Strand and Carlos' understanding "I know." Every tarlos scene in this from beginning to end of episode is amazing and impactful and leaves me an emotional mess every time I watch it 💖

who is your all time comfort character?

All time comfort character you ask? 🤔 After thinking about all the fandoms I've enjoyed and been a part of over the years, please don't come at me for saying the obvious of TK 😅. He's the first live action character that I have loved this much, and there are so many reasons for that! One of the biggest being how he has been through so much hardship in his life but he is so unselfish and sees the best in people and still has so much love to give!! He is sunshine personified but he is still very much a real person with flaws and baggage, but he is constantly working to take care of himself and be a better person! I've had similar, not exact of course, experiences in my own life and have come out the other side better for it! It took a lot of time of course and I needed to be in a place where I had the power to make my own decisions and I love that about TK too, that the show constantly shows that his decisions to get better have ultimately been his own! And him being an openly gay character who is proud of his sexuality was primarily what drew me to him and the show in the first place 🥰

Ohh always love a music question! Haha and probably not what you're expecting but my favorite album lately has been Bo Burnham's "Inside (Deluxe)" edition. It's such a fantastic special and I watched the deleted scenes not too long ago and have not been able to stop listening to "Five Years". The chorus is so damn catchy and I wish it was longer and the line "Everyone's a feminist until there is a spider around" makes me laugh every time 🤣.

The two main ways Misa is handled irk me. I dislike straight up Misa hate, because a lot of that stems from sort of blatant misogyny. (I'm not talking about writing that is in Light’s pov, that’s just in character for him.) That said, I ALSO hate the “girl boss” take on Misa. It’s boring and flat. She is a traumatized young woman who does some pretty horrible things as a result of her inability to process these traumas. What she is doing to Light is incredibly uncomfortable and inconsiderate at the very very least. That said, she is also a victim in her own right. Misa becomes the most interesting when you can have both of these threads going for her.

Total Drama 2023 spoilers under the cut

God fucking damn man I can't even pretend with you guys right now.

I fucking hated this season. Like. Genuinely. It had its moments, of course, as I do enjoy some of the characters and interactions but. For a Total Drama finale to make me GENUINELY physically sick to my fucking stomach is bullshit.

I've waited so long for this season only for it to be like a large punch in the face and "fuck you" from the producers. I hate FreshTV and I will never ever see this season as a favorite. It will never even reach its way into my top three.

For Priya, Bowie and Millie to get into the finale like THAT is bullshit, and the treatment Millie was given was fucking bullshit too. I've never been so distraught by fictional television and seeing that happen has honestly drove me away from Total Drama so much. And to see everyone eating it up like it's the best thing ever is honestly like a punch in the face.

And before you go typing "ohh I thought it was good and blah blah blah" okay, yeah, whatever, you're entitled to your own opinion but I think that can say a lot about you revolving around what all in the season you genuinely enjoy. As for me, I adored rajbow relationship and the different interesting cast, but I'll never see this season as something good and fun. It's never going to be that way, because it's made me physically sick.

Priya and Bowie's actions I can never forgive. I enjoy Bowie as a character but for them to pull something like that after making him a main representation for gay people + the lgbtq community in general is a horrible thing to see. He was so good and they ruined it for me and I'm just praying they can fix whatever the fuck they've done in the next season or I might just fucking drop out of this fandom for good. I don't know what to do because this is genuinely so upsetting to me. And sure, some might be like "touch grass this shouldn't make you upset" what fucking ever dude I've been queerbaited and dragged on by this show for so long and honestly so many of their stunts have been pushing it but this new season is really fucking pushing their luck. I can't believe, in all the years I've been a part of this fandom, that a season has made me sick to my stomach.

And not to mention their repetitive obvious bias they have towards any plus sized characters they make, even in the oldest season and so forth. And no, I won't apologize for pointing all this out, because what the fuck. Ripper was used as yet another plus sized character just for toilet humor and to be nothing more, and Millie was treated HORRIBLY. Especially in the fucking finale. Let's run Millie's story down here actually. A girl looking to research on fellow people of her generation to see what they say and what she doesn't enjoy about them, being turned to Priya and going through training with her, though Priya was ALWAYS physical and caused Millie to get harmed in some way or another. Millie wrote down that it was upsetting and her opinions on it because why WOULDN'T you be fucking upset over getting hit multiple times by the ONLY friend you have. Millie ended up growing to genuinely enjoy being around Priya and saw her as a real friend, even going through the process of writing a whole apology for saying all the things she did and appreciating Priya for what she's done for her. Yet Bowie, who just can't handle to win through skill alone, has to tear them apart like it'll help him at all in the long run. I don't care if it was a "powerplay" it was fucking disgusting. There was no need, and for them to pull something like that after I finally felt like I'd get anything good from freshtv, really fucks with me. Really god damn bad. Continuing on, Millie stayed up all night crying and stressed beyond belief because she lost the ONLY person she had. THE ONLY PERSON. And don't you DARE start with "well she shouldn't have written that stuff about Priya meh meh meh" I want you to go through what Millie went through and not have a single negative thought. Okay? Learn to have a little, TINY bit of sympathy. Not to mention she saw Priya LITERALLY rather DIE to LAVA than get on a raft with her. And proceeded to see her get on Bowie's raft. Priya would literally give her life to not fucking interact with Millie and truthfully? Millie shouldn't have forgiven Priya and vice versa. Priya is a genuine piece of shit and I will never forget how horribly it hurt me to see that. It was like a punch to the face.

I'm never ever going to see total drama the same way again. This has put this show in such a bad light for me and I can't believe people are just eating it up. Good fuckin day total drama fandom. Praying that at least SOMEONE could see that even if this season was good in some ways it is... Very obviously overruled by unbelievable negatives I never thought I'd ever see in a show like this. No matter how much it's based around drama. I am in... Genuine shock.

No, seriously I have been to 21 shows since Broadway reopened in September and I'm actually going to my 22nd tonight. I don't know if this makes that fact better or worse, but I've really only been to about 12 different show because out of those 22, 10 of those are one specific show. Third, I am fluent in German and English. Though, I suck at writing in German, I never learned how to, so don't ask me to do that please. Fourth, my favorite color is red, so you can guess my favorite Taylor album (and coincidently also the show I've been to see 10 times on Broadway...). Fifth, I love to talk A LOT if you couldn't tell by the essays I send yall. And lastly, I can also confirm I am not Taylor...but I will say that I do share something very important with her... tell me your guesses down below as to what very important thing you think Taylor and I have in common, and I'll send some extra animals to whomever I see gets it right first!

So contuining on with my dissertation here, this week I have been trying to figure out a prompt to live up to this occasion. As I already mentioned, my system isn't perfect!
