Actually the answer was yes once I finished Rebel Yell. Although Jackson was at times unpopular with the higher command due to his idiosyncrasies and stubbornness, Jackson’s strategies ultimately were effective. The Union was intimidated, if not terrified of Jackson since they could never predict where he was— he was famous for his impossibly speedy marches, which he achieved by running his units ragged, and he was never where the Union thought he was, nor doing what the Union expected he would.
His strange strategies ultimately worked very well, and a lot of it stems from who Jackson was. He was an unusual dude with unusual approaches to war. The Confederacy never would have won, but Stonewall Jackson’s untimely death dealt a huge psychological blow to the Confederacy since he was one of their more successful generals. His death was even mourned in the Union; he was one of the most famous people in the United States at that time.
So barring his men accidentally killing him while he was doing some scouting one night, yeah I think the Confederacy used his autism in an effective way, because I legitimately believe it strongly affected his manner of war lol. It’s a flippant question that had an actual answer.
