A hc I have for Xavier is that like, he's really not as sex crazed as the game makes him out to be. Like, he'll crack a lil sexual joke here and there, but he's not aching for it 24/7. Like, here's my thinking.

Xavier's just a sleepy lil guy man. He's tired 24/7, that's why he's always sleeping or just lounging around his house reading a book or trying to cook bc those things AREN'T taxing on his body. We also know he sucks at cooking and HE knows he sucks at cooking, so like it's kinda something that keeps him on his toes to stay awake if he really doesn't want to sleep atm.

That’s against the law and we know they care a lot about vampire laws to avoid ending up like Sasha… so what if MC overhears them talking to each other about how they’re the first succubi and about the many people they’ve screwed to death… and instead of assuming they're vampires, MC assumes they're literal succubi! (and Eleazar is an icubus or he and Carmen are other remond types) and then she’d end up assuming that that is why the sisters are being horndogs towards her… because that’s how succubi feed! - nightbringer makes me realize how "privileged" we were. For example, it was possible to spin the gachas every 2 days in Obey Me, but we have to wait 3 days in nightbringer, and we need joker cards (also, the gameplay is way harder)

- I'm afraid the game will be less f2p-friendly as time passes. I'm also worried about how hard ruri-tunes will be in the future

- I wonder if they are going to bring some events and cards from Obey Me to nightbringer

- I like both games, but I'm still "grieving" over Obey Me, and looking at nightbringer makes me want to cry sometimes. Obey Me not even receiving a single gacha once nightbringer was released doesn't help (it makes me feel like solmare abandoned their game)

- I don't care that nightbringer is going to pick up on lesson 81, I don't care about people saying the OG game is old, I don't care about people saying Obey Me was going to die one day anyway. I just wish Solmare had done a better job with Obey Me (such as giving the game a better final season, fixing at least some of the plot holes because they have edited a lot of chapters in the past, and decreasing the necessary strength in battles because they have done that already sometimes). I bet they created nightbringer because rhythm games are selling, and they accepted the fact they fucked up big time with the OG game system

- and with all that in mind, I'm scared nightbringer will have the same flaws (or even more flaws) and ending as Obey Me 💀 I'm playing nightbringer for the time being, but I'm never trusting solmare ever again

Rook was sidelined so hard, I would really love to know what on earth the live service concept was that was the birth of this mess. I have never cared about a character less. The fact that they cut out Varric's recruitment mission so we never actually SEE why Rook is so much more suited to leading than Harding doesn't help. I mean wasn't Harding the scout leader in Inquisition? It's not like she has 0 experience being in charge? But it feels like... Rook has 0 experience being in charge? I never SAW Rook being a leader before Varric handed over the reigns. And yeah. Rook on their own doesn't do anything? The companions collect the leads and tell you what to do next.

Okay so maybe Rook's job is making sure they all work together. Rook is the manager, not the SME. Fine. Except, they don't need Rook. They all get along PERFECTLY FINE WITHOUT ROOK. There's a little bit of friction with Taash/Emmrich but lbr they'd have figured this out alone or with a different companion's help. Lucanis/Davrin solve their issue alone. If Rook disappeared all of a sudden, those people would still work together just fine... And they do in the last act, literally creating a fake dagger all on their own out of NOWHERE?? Rook never had an idea like that lol. And they save Rook completely on their own too. Like they just. Don't need Rook. At all. If Rook disappeared, Harding or Neve would easily take over and people would follow them. Not to mention how Rook wasn't included in anything ever and always felt like an awkward outsider who wasn't actually invited to the party, but came because they ASSUMED they were when everyone else was talking about it, but no one wanted them to come? If you've seen the B99 episode of the gang going on a trip with Holt where they have their private fun party in the basement while the boring "boss" party no one wants to be at is happening upstairs... That's how I felt the whole game.

I will say though, world-ending odds or not, Hawke was just a much better protagonist because Hawke WAS A PROTAGONIST. The people in Hawke's life literally would never have become friends without Hawke. Some of them still hate each other by the end but endure for Hawke. Like they're all literally only in the group for/because of Hawke. And Hawke quite literally changes who they are as people and has a massive effect on their lives. The choices you make as Hawke for your friends and the city MATTER. The Veilguard choices just... Don't. The only choice that truly matters is the Emmrich one. Everything else is just a skin preference. It has no actual effect on the game or how the characters act. It's the illusion of choice and you KNOW it won't matter in the next DA, if there ever is one.

Rook as a character is just... Desperately bad, and I'm very sad about it. I mean the Inquisitor was such a bland pancake of a person as well with no real past or personality, but I ended up caring about them because of their relationship with the companions, who provided the seasoning and toppings to their bland pancake stack. I felt like they actually cared about the MC and they all had interesting, deep relationships with Inky. I just feel like... the Veilguard crew would literally not notice if Rook just said "fuck this shit" and dipped halfway through the game. I mean no one even noticed I didn't know Varric was dead? Be real 💀

What’s really jumping out at me on my second playthrough is that the writers of the first three games understood that your character was the main character. The Veilguard writers clearly thought that the main characters were their characters, the companions.

Every scene is about setting the companions up as cool or competent or sympathetic. Often, this is done at Rook’s expense. The companions get all the witty one-liners; Rook’s attempts at humor not only frequently fall flat, but are frequently called out for falling flat (even when they’re completely automatic and the player has no say in them).

The companions have all the knowledge and skills; Rook just brought them all together and gives them all pep talks so they can focus. I’m trying to edit out all of the comments where Rook is like “Um… what????” from my videos, and let me tell you, it takes WORK. There are A LOT of them. I can count on one hand the number of times when the Inquisitor or Hawke comes across as dumb, but it seems to be a built-in, unavoidable part of Rook’s character. I have not selected a single “purple” option in all of Act 1, and Rook is still coming across as the kid who tries to be the class clown to cover for the fact that he’s always confused. Rook’s role in most scenes is to say “Uhhh… what?” so that the companions look smart.

Rook is always the one offering sympathy and never the one getting it. No one actually comes to comfort you after Varric’s death. No one asks you how you’re feeling about having to lead the team now that Varric is gone. No one tries to reassure you or give you advice for dealing with the trickster god haunting your dreams. We’re told that Neve could keep Solas out of your head, but she never actually offers to do this for you. No one comforts a Shadow Dragon Rook when Minrathous is destroyed or a Grey Warden Rook when Weisshaupt is destroyed. Rook’s problems don’t matter. Only the problems of main characters matter.

Rook is a secondary character in their own story.

not another aeran question 💀💀💀 but i took the rat alley->cove->antique store->gadget shop->forge progression and i noticed that although aeran was plenty happy to play mind games with the guy who gave the count the chalice he seemed to disapprove when you do the same to the smith (in my defense i couldnt risk striking out completely at the market, tho i did feel bad :/). i was wondering as to why that might be and i figured maybe something to do with that artificer who took him in? a more deeply instilled respect for craftsmen and understanding of the risk magiani pose to their livelihood? is it an eat the rich thing? is he just being a hypocrite? or is he objecting because its technically unrelated to the job?

Aeran objects because it's not related to the job.

He and the MC are on limited time. They need to find the chalice. On Route B, there is no alternative--either Zenaida hasn't approached them yet, or they've straight up refused her. They have no other options.

When the MC and Aeran are interrogating Drakehand, Aeran will do just about anything to drag the necessary information out of him. After they get all they can out of him, Aeran doesn't want to waste extra time haggling in the Cove.

Their lives are on the line. Aeran doesn't want to die; he doesn't want the MC to die. But he knows the Count will likely have them killed if they don't pull through with the chalice. His behaviour in Episode 1 Route B is less about morals, and more about being backed into a corner.

Am I stupid or did Sarah unknownly kind of confirmed who's book is next?

The question was if we'll get Elain's POV and Azriel's POV and her answer to that was that we'll see more of Elain in "some form". She didn't even said anything about Azriel.

Which to me sounds like she doesn't want to answer questions about the MC of the next acotar book. We'll see more of Elain than we saw of her in acosf but in some form. That doesn't sound like she is the MC of acotar 5? 💀

Nothing was confirmed so I could be only reaching, but people look at it and think "omg she confirmed Elain's book next" when that answer confirms nothing except that Elain will be more present in acotar 5 than in acosf. Which would make sense if the last book is gonna be her's.

I wouldn't say she confirmed whose book is next, but she did a really good job of telling us things we already know and making it seem like she was answering questions.

Seeing more of Elain "in some form" is the equivalent of saying "this character who has already existed will continue to exist". Yes. Wow, brilliant. Thanks for that.

(And honestly - I'm starting to think all of this "they're holding back for the ship war to make money" is actually an incredibly egocentric thing to think. Babes, SJM was already incredibly popular and successful before acosf came out. She doesn't need your petty squabbles on the fucking internet to give her a lil sales boost. (So going off that, the reason I think she is actually being coy about who is coming next is NOT about the ship war - I think it's because of what she said last night, that acotar5 literally is not written yet. She also said that she discovers things as she writes. Why would she confirm anything about a book that she hasn't written??? Like when she said the time travel thing, how she wouldn't commit to anything - it's literally just because she doesn't want to box herself in, because she discovers things as she goes. I'll just say that absolutely nothing changed in my mind last night. I got a deeper appreciation for how deeply connected sjm feels to Nesta. I am glad she touched on the hike scene in acosf because that was such an emotional moment and the fandom always has interesting reactions to someone being "mean" (though they don't hesitate to be mean to each other, so whatever). But I still think it's gwynriel/elucien all the way.
