til that, although children's books seem to love sticking Merlin or Morgan (apparently usually both! as is appropriate!) into their stories when they need A Magician, there are... slim pickings indeed...? when it comes to actual Arthur legends for (little) kids?
#this is an appeal for recs if anyone sees it who has some#but mostly it's a... what do we have. the two books called King Arthur + The Knights Of The Round Table both from the 50s?#and then I think for more than ten seconds and am like okay yes I guess our central themes are adultery and incest this sort of is a trick#and I am going to bet I am totally SOL if I want a child-level retelling that centers the women to any degree aren't I#because you truly can't elide any of that for the women#and while like I do think my introduction (Mists Of Avalon at eight) WAS the right way to introduce this myth#a) my kid is four and b) while I sure won't stop her I do think I'll draw the line at actually giving her that book certainly pre-teenage#but like something??#Tracey Mayhew maybe??? says google
