Be me, coming home from work and seeing a r/warcraftlore post about a Vereesa short story in that new anthology that states it confirms a long-standing fan theory: Wait, what was it again? Is it adoption? ...She’s adopted, isn’t she?

Also me: Oh wait, it’s about Sylvanas, isn’t it? Let me see if it’s what I think it is--

*see the comments on Twitter, Wowhead, r/wow, r/warcratlore, and various other users descending into chaos*

Me: *slowly backs away and closes the proverbial door*

#warcraft #shadowlands spoilers #i stg sometimes i wonder why i'm still even in this fandom #but then i remember my bar is set too high & i have a hard enough time getting into new fandoms as it is #all the wow community does is ARGUE #it's one thing to criticize constructively and another to say 'hey i don't like this thing but i won't be a dick to you about it'#but i guess that's asking way too much b/c some of those ppl are content with calling said fans fascists/abuse apologists/wtfever #or can't act civil enough to have a proper discussion that doesn't involve massive amounts of shit-slinging #also we need to have a discussion on what 'redemption' means but some of you aren't ready for that #jfc i see this word thrown around so much #it's losing its meaning the same way terms like 'mary sue' and 'woke' and 'edgy' have #i don't see ppl argue this much about garrosh outside of the HE DID NOTHING WRONG bs #and whenever ppl argue about arthas there are misandrist undertones #as a sylvanas fan i can like her but i can also criticize some of her actions #but somehow that openness to critique & appreciation gets thrown out the window the moment a sliver of her name is mentioned #on these big sites #tbh i don't care if it's b/c of 'misogyny' or 'dudebros'#and maybe saying that makes my whole convo moot #but i have never seen a character that causes ppl to lose their collective shit over #that's probably a testament to me not being involved in many fandoms #but seeing that much vitriol & that much anxiety over one person #actually the majority of the cast #makes me believe a large chunk of the fandom just isn't worth wasting my time with #btw if you've made it this far in the tags i congratulate you #i didn't want to go off this early in the morning but even i have limits to my patience
