Controller Passing Made Easy
Summary: Having Patton in his lap just makes switching who’s playing the game easier, that’s all! And if cuddling ensues during and after than that’s their business.
Warnings: none
Ships: platonic Patton x Janus, platonic Mociet
Word Count: 1713

Janus swore quietly as he took another hit from a bulbin he hadn't noticed sneaking behind him. The buttons clicked loudly on the old controller as he executed a rather impressive spin attack that went immediately into a finishing blow, making Link turn quickly to slash at another enemy and sending it flying into the lava. The camera angle spun wildly as he searched for more enemies, letting out a sigh when he saw there were none.
"Alright, let's see if I remember this boss."
Since Janus had been accepted and Remus...mostly accepted, the barrier between the "light sides" and "dark sides" had been much easier to walk freely across. Which allowed Janus to finally bring his console out from the other sides' common room and install it in the "light sides'" where there was much fewer outlets being used and the couch was free of mysterious stains and sticky spots from where Remus flopped down on his returns from his side of the imagination. He shuddered to think of what even a quarter of them could possibly be from.
Shaking his head he gathered what hearts he could from the pots surrounding the door and entered the last room of the dungeon just as Patton came down the stairs. His eyes flicked towards the other as the cutscene started but Patton's were glued to the screen, watching curiously as Link entered a large room with a sleeping beast chained upright in the middle of the room. He crossed the floor slowly and quietly sat beside Janus on the couch as the gem on the beasts forehead glowed red, music beginning to pick up while the monster raised its head to examine its prison. It roared as it tugged at its chains and Patton gasped out as it ripped them free from the wall and let a final challenging roar right in Link's face. The battle was on.
Quickly maneuvering behind Fyrus, the Goron Mines final boss Janus instantly remembered the gimmick as he saw the chains dragging on the ground, grabbing them as he switched on his iron boots and tried moving backward, swearing louder as it did nothing. Remembering his bow just as the monster was catching up to him he aimed and quickly shot at the glowing gem on its head, grabbing the chains again as Fyrus' steady gait turned into a stomping rampage. The top heavy boss fell hard on the ground and he quickly ran around to slash at its vulnerable gem, smirking in satisfaction knowing he was doing it right. This particular boss was one of the easiest in game to figure out and beat but it had been such a long time since he had sat down and played any kind of video game that it was almost like doing a first playthrough again; which was nice considering how many times he had beaten this particular title in the past.
With a final strike of his sword another cut scene started up, victorious music swelling as Fyrus shrunk and collapsed while twilight particles flew off of him to condense into a piece of fused shadow above, Midna taking form to reach for it and create a portal to exit the dungeon. Smiling slightly Janus made sure to save before putting the controller down and turning towards Patton.
"Was there something you needed?"
Hurt was quickly replaced with a smile as Patton stood up quickly and shook his head. "Nope, sorry! Just wanted to see what you were up to since you've been down here a while, I'll leave to let you-"
"Patton." Janus winced as he realized how his question must have sounded. "I didn't mean anything by that, I've been down here a for a couple hours and thought perhaps you were wanting the TV. I truly didn't mean anything by it."
Patton’s smiled turned more genuine as he carefully sat back down, gesturing to the TV. "I haven't seen this in a while. What's it called again?"
"The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess. Thomas got this shortly after getting a Game Cube, it was one of Virgil and I's favorites."
Patton nodded. "I remember now. Did you know Thomas owns the newest one?"
"There's a new one?" Janus put the controller down curiously. He'd been a little out of the loop lately when it came to the things Thomas did unless he was actually needed.
Patton nodded again more excitedly, launching himself over to the TV and digging quickly through the game sleeves until he found what he was looking for. "This! The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild!"
Janus took it excitedly, wondering when it had come out. The cover art looked beautiful, slightly painted and bright and showcasing an expansive world to discover and explore. He looked up at Patton imploringly, eyes flicking to the switch he had noticed but hadn't touched since it wasn't technically his, content enough to play on the console he had brought up with permission. Patton laughed softly and took the sleeve from him, quickly setting up the game and handing him a different controller.
-----
"There's another one!!" Patton bounced slightly as he made Link dash towards another frog to add to their inventory. Janus smiled fondly and tightened his grip around Patton's waist, the fatherly sides soft hair tickling the underside of his chin but he made no move to sit up. He didn't really know how they had gotten into this position, sitting in front of the couch with Patton nestled comfortably in his lap with his head resting underneath Janus' chin, but he supposed it made passing the controller back and forth easier. They hadn't gotten very far in the game, both of them much too excited to explore the map and take pictures to actually progress the main storyline. As it was almost six hours later their stamina wheel was full and they had done enough shrines and collected the spirit orbs needed to gain seven new heart containers. Janus was reasonably sure that they'd probably be overpowered for most of the games bosses at this point but he didn't care and Patton didn't really seem to either, excitedly moving from one interesting thing spotted in the distance to another.
He blinked out of his thoughts as he felt Patton tap his hands with the controller, unwinding them from their previous position and taking it as the moral side settled back against him with a content sigh. Thankfully it was a "finish all the leftovers in the fridge please" day so they hadn't had to be distracted for too long as they whipped up something quickly earlier and ate before returning to their game, the other sides not doing much more than shooting them questioning looks before going about their own business. Roman and Virgil's glances were admittedly a bit more...touchy, but it didn't seem to bother Patton so Janus was content to focus on the game rather than the tense atmosphere the mindscape hadn't managed to shake yet.
Some time later Janus finally made it to the top of a glowing mountain, smiling at the scattered blupees running around before gasping as he took in a strangely beautiful creature. Snapping it with his camera The Lord of the Mountain stood in the small pond surrounded by the little bunny owl creatures, celestial patterns swirling across its glowing blue body as it moved around unaware of his presence hiding behind a bush. He tapped Patton's arm gently not having heard a reaction from him yet. Looking down as he still received no response he nearly melted at the sight. Patton was slumped slightly to the side, glasses askew and mouth agape as he slept still nested in Janus' lap, which he only now realized was quite cramped. His back also let it's own discomfort be known as he glanced at the clock and startled as he realized it was nearly midnight.
He set the controller down gently and with a wave of his hand turned off the TV and console, knowing that unless he shut the game down completely it would pick up where he left off. He carefully maneuvered to stretch out his tired legs, taking off Patton's glasses and setting them down on the table as well. Gently twisting he managed to get an arm under the other's knees while his other supported his back, holding him close as he slowly stood up. Glancing at the stairs he scoffed and shook his head. Absolutely not, and sinking down would risk waking Patton up, which looking at his peaceful face that was something he definitely did not want. Couch it was then.
He sat down slowly and leaned back to swing his legs onto the cushions, gently moving Patton around until he was more or less laying on top of him. Thanking the stars he seemed to be an incredibly heavy sleeper he snapped his fingers to change them both into their pajamas, chuckling as Patton curled tightly into him clad in his fuzzy gray cat onesie. Janus himself had black socks and sweatpants with a comfortable dark grey long sleeve that covered his arms until they met his usual gloves. His relationship with the others was improving, but the trust was not yet established enough for him to break out his own onesie just yet. Another snap left the room blissfully dark and with Patton's warm weight on top of him he drifted almost immediately to sleep.
------
Patton blinked tiredly as sunlight knocked insistently against his eyelids. Waving his hand had the curtains drawn in an instant and he sighed into the darkness, snuggling further into the warmth beneath him.
His eyes snapped open as he lifted his head to see exactly where he was, confusion marring his features as a scaled face was seen just inches from his own. Realizing he must have fallen asleep while playing the game last night he smiled warmly at the other side, giggling as Janus shifted in his sleep and the tip of a forked tongue blepped out adorably. Settling again on the others chest, Patton sighed into the warmth and closed his eyes, content to have a late morning with the beat of Janus' heart thudding comfortingly in his ear.

Hihihihi, first of all CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR MILESTONEEE 🎉❤️
So on account of the sleepover can I get a ✒️ based on the prompt
“Am I your lock screen?” “You weren’t supossed to see that.”
Thank youuu💕
Shut up
Hey hey! Thank you so much, it means a lot :) I’m sorry I’m kinda late, but I explained it already. I hope you, and everyone who’ll read this, enjoy it! Have an amazing day <3
I got a little carried away with the word count
Pairing: Sirius Black × gn!reader
Word count: 970
Warnings: /
Summary: When you can’t find your phone, you ask Sirius if you can use his. Little did you know there’s a surprise waiting for you when you open it.
Join my sleepover
~
The spring break finally came, the train back to London arriving at the station. It’s a warm, sunny afternoon, the chatter of students filling the air.
“So, what are we gonna do for a whole two weeks?” asks Remus, turning to look at Sirius, who just shrugged.
“Don’t look at me, I’m not the one who’s usually making plans,” he states, putting his arms in the air defensively.
“Maybe we can all just come to my house?” suggests James, being the only one who has a big house, well, big enough for all of you to be there. “My parents won’t be home all week, they’re going somewhere with someone, I don’t know, I wasn’t listening,” he says, making you roll your eyes.
“Typical James,” you mutter under your breath, earning a chuckle from Remus, who was standing close enough to hear you.
“What was that Y/N? I didn’t quite catch it.” James comments, another short laugh escaping Remus.
“I said sure.” you sarcastically smile, but he’s too oblivious to notice.
“Great then, tell your parents and we’re all set.” James finishes, the train arriving.
It’s been a couple of days since vacations started and you're standing in the kitchen with your pj’s still on, an oversized T-shirt, and some shorts. Since you’re the only one who can cook beside Remus, you must make breakfast, deciding on some pancakes. You're almost finished when the boys finally walk in, sleep lacing their faces.
“Well, well, well. Good morning. I thought I was gonna have to eat this all by myself.” you joke, James giving you his death stare and Sirius muttering a quiet “shut up”. The only one who has manners is Remus, thanking you for making breakfast. You loudly say “You’re welcome.” back, making the other two boys’ heads shot up.
“Oh, yea, thank you, giggles,” Sirius says, James humming in response.
“Don’t call me that,” you warn, a small smirk appearing on Sirius’s lips. He was about to respond, probably with some flirty sentence, but James cuts him off, murmuring something along the lines of “This is so good,” but you didn’t quite understand him, looking at the fact that his mouth is full of food.
“Thanks, I guess?” you giggle, earning a smile from him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The plans of going on a picnic fell apart the second you saw the rain through the window. You made plans earlier, about going to the lake and having a picnic, maybe even swimming a little if it was going to be warm enough. But alas, luck is not on your side. Like it ever is, you think to yourself, remembering Remus went to the store, specifically to buy stuff for your trip. You have to call him, tell him he can come home, but your phone is nowhere to be found. Looking for it for the past 10 minutes you give up, thinking that you’re gonna find it eventually, just deciding on calling him from Sirius’s phone.
“Hey, Siri, can I borrow your phone?” you shout, making him come out of his room in sweatpants and oh god, he’s shirtless. All the thoughts ran out of your head, the image of his abs and muscular arms filling your mind. He just smirks, quickly catching up on where your eyes are glued.
“Take a picture, it’ll last longer.” he jokes, snapping you out of your trance. You feel the heat rushing up your neck so you awkwardly cough, clearing your mind.
“Right, sorry,” you mutter, looking to the ground.
“What is it?” he questions, making you remember why you called him in the first place.
“Oh yea, can I borrow your phone? I can’t find mine and I have to call Remus to tell him, ya know, that he doesn’t have to buy more food, since our plans just got canceled," you say, gesturing to the window, earning a nod from him.
“Sure, here you go.” he hands you his phone, completely forgetting what, or more specifically, who he has for his lock screen. You open the phone, the sight of your form greeting you.
“Sirius…” you begin, trying to suppress your laugh. “Am I your lock screen?” you ask, a snort escaping you. He would melt at the sight in front of him if he wouldn’t be so embarrassed.
“You weren’t supposed to see that,” he replies, a blush appearing on his cheeks. “I can explain, I promise!” he quickly adds, his cheeks only becoming redder and redder. “Me and the boys, we were playing truth or dare the other night and they dared me to have your picture for my wallpaper,” he explains, your grin only growing.
“Sure they did,” you say sarcastically, even though you believe him but a little bit of teasing never hurts anyone. When his expression changed to fear, you gave up, coming closer. “I’m kidding, jeez, I believe you.” you laugh, looking into his eyes.
“Great, because I don’t want you to think I’m some kind of creep or something but I promise, I’m not-” you stop his rambling by pressing your lips to his, his eyes going wide. You pull away, a slight smirk evident on your face.
“Shut up,” you whisper, opening your eyes, your hands on his chest. A sound of clapping and cheering emerges from the entrance into the living room, making you both look at the intruders.
“Finally! I thought we’re gonna have to wait till we’re 90!” exclaims James, a grin printed on his face.
“Oh my god, go away Prongs!” shouts Sirius, giving him a death glare. “I’m in the middle of something, don’t you see?” he asks, making James and Remus back away, smiles still present on their faces.
“Now where were we?” he grins, before locking your lips once more, guiding them into a sweet kiss.
“Fell In Love With A Girl”, Chapter Four
Summary: After Luna's shocking kidnap at the hotel, Ginny is desperate to save her girlfriend. But how will they find Luna in a place as large as the Amazon Delta?
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tagging: @cheeseanonioncrisps @lytefoot
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Read on FFN. Read on AO3.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Ginny was gently led downstairs by Tonks, and sank into a chair.
Her eyes were all red and irritated from the tears she had cried. She felt exhausted, but she couldn’t focus on it. All she felt was terror for Luna.
Kidnapped. In the clutches of the crime syndicate they had been trying to stop.
‘Kid?’
Ginny turned. Sam had placed a hand on her shoulder.
‘Y-yeah?’
‘We’re gonna get her back,’ he said, gruffly. She could tell he wasn’t good with handling emotions, but she appreciated the effort. ‘Those bastards aren’t gonna know what hit them.’
Ginny smiled, despite her tears.
‘T-thanks, Sam.’
The scarred man shrugged.
‘We’ve got a DNA match.’
Ginny’s head whipped round to the side. Remus was stood by a computer across the room.
‘From the bedroom upstairs, you mean?’ Sam asked.
‘Yeah; forensics just got back to us,’ Remus replied, tapping the computer screen. ‘A fragment of skin was left on the windowsill. It matches a low-level criminal who we suspected of being a member of the crime syndicate. Now we’ve got proof.’
At that moment, Tonks burst into the room.
‘Found this in Luna and Ginny’s room,’ she said, holding a book aloft. ‘Thought it might be of use.’
‘T-that’s… that’s Luna’s journal’ Ginny mumbled. ‘It’s…’
She trailed off, before grabbing the book from Tonks and slamming in down on the table and riffling through the pages.
‘Ginny?’ Tonks asked. ‘What is it?’
‘The newest pages are missing,’ Ginny said, pointing at the frayed bits of paper sticking out at odd angles. ‘Luna must have been writing ideas down.’
‘Ideas like…’
‘Amazonian Octarine-Flame,’ Ginny said, her mind connecting the dots. ‘It has variations that grow both above ground and in underground cave systems. The syndicate were obsessed with it, which means that they couldn’t find it in the rainforest. But Luna must have known where it grows; why else would they wait until I left before grabbing her? They need her knowledge.’
‘And kill two birds with one stone,’ Tonks finished. ‘Try to scare us off, and get the Octarine-Flame.’
Sam smiled.
‘You’re good, kid. So, where do we go?’
Ginny’s enthusiasm suddenly vanished; she didn’t know. Luna hadn’t told her where the plant was.
However, her eyes then landed on the map.
‘Oh, it’s where all those reports were coming from!’ She exclaimed. ‘No wonder the locals noticed something was up; the syndicate have been combing that area the whole time! They just need an expert to pinpoint the exact location of that plant!’
Remus nodded.
‘That would also explain why this area seems to be such a target; the network of underground caves stretch out for miles underneath the rainforest. I’m surprised they didn’t just force one of the locals to show them where the plant was.’
Sam chuckled, darkly.
‘Knowing this lot, I imagine they probably didn’t think the locals knew. Typical colonialist nonsense.’
Tonks nodded.
‘The syndicates base must be in that area too,’ Remus said, typing frantically into the computer. ‘They’ve likely got a base of operations close to where the plants are. Somewhere far away from the government authorities.’
‘That’s the problem with these syndicates,’ Sam said, giving a wry grin. ‘They always think that setting up operations in the middle of nowhere will keep them out of attention. But all it does is send up a flare of exactly where they are!’
‘You can hide a bee in a beehive easily,’ Ginny continued. ‘But stick it in a library and it’s impossible to ignore.’
Sam slapped Ginny supportively on the shoulder.
‘Damn, you’re good, kid!’
Ginny smiled.
Evil organisation or not, no-one messed with her girlfriend.
*
Luna stumbled forward. The members of the crime syndicate glowered at her. She had been blindfolded ever since she had been kidnapped from the hotel in Rio. They had only removed the blindfold when they had wanted her to inspect a plant.
Amazonian Octarine-Flame. It was the only one they seemed to be desperate to find. Luna wasn’t sure why they hadn’t just forced one of the locals to do it, but she wasn’t about to argue with the rifles the syndicate members were all carrying.
Gritting her teeth, Luna bent down and inspected the plant.
‘Tell us,’ instructed one of them, tapping his rifle in warning. ‘Is that the plant?’
Luna sighed.
‘Yes, it is. It’s the variant that grows above ground.’
‘Good.’
Luna stood back up. The members of the syndicate moved around her, and promptly dug up the plant, placing it and the earth around its roots into a special container they had brought with them.
‘Now, we head back to HQ.’
One of the syndicate members stepped forward, and pulled a mask roughly over Luna’s face.
‘For goodness sake; how am I supposed to walk if I can’t see?’ Luna asked, becoming very aware of how uneven the forest floor was beneath her feet.
‘We’re directing you where you should walk,’ said the syndicate member nearest to her. ‘We can’t have you knowing where our base is.’
‘I’m a florist, not a spy!’ Luna snapped. ‘You’ve got what you want; let me go!’
The syndicate members ignored her, and began to nudge her forward, using the butt of the rifles to do so. They weren’t quite as rough as Luna had been expecting, but it didn’t make the situation any better.
Don’t worry, Luna told herself, Ginny will find me.
As she stumbled forward, Luna’s mind began to work. The syndicate clearly didn’t want anyone to know where their base was, but they’d kept her mask off until she’d identified the plant. That mean… the base was nearby.
They walked on for a good distance. Luna wasn’t sure for how long but, given how many steps she was taking, it couldn’t have been for more than a few miles. That meant that they were still within the area that Remus and Tonks had discussed with Sam the other day.
There was a crackle in front of her. One of the syndicate members had pulled their walkie-talkie out of their pocket.
‘Viper company at section omega with person-of-interest 49?’
They were here. The base entrance must be nearby. Oh, if only she could see!
Luna was so wrapped up in her thoughts that she wasn’t prepared for the push behind her. She crashed to the ground, awkwardly landing on her hands and knees.
‘Get her up,’ grumbled the syndicate member in front. ‘That’s the sixth time she’s fallen over. We should have carried her the way; the last thing we want is the locals noticing the weird foot-prints.’
As Luna was pulled to her feet and pushed forward, she was vaguely aware of her hair swinging into a low-hanging tree branch. Thinking fast, she bit her lip, and gave her head a quick jerk in the opposite direction. There was a sharp shot of pain in her scalp.
The syndicate members didn’t seem to notice this as they bustled her forwards. Before she knew quite what was happening, she could feel herself being led down a steep passageway, out of the sunlight reaching through the rainforest trees.
*
Ginny climbed out of the jeep.
They had driving for… she honestly couldn’t remember how long. It could have been ten minutes or ten hours. Ginny hadn’t noticed; she had been focusing too much on Luna. On finding her and getting her out of harms way.
Tonks and Remus climbed out of the jeep. Sam was already standing a few feet ahead, and they all walked to where he was stood.
The rainforest completely surrounded the long dirt road they had travelled along to this spot. Ginny’s t-shirt was already soaked through with sweat due to the humidity, but she didn’t care; she was used to sweat.
Nearby the trees were stood several Amazonian tribespeople. One of them walked over, an elderly woman with kind eyes. She was clearly a local leader of some kind.
‘Hello, Sam.’
The grizzled agent shook hands with the woman.
‘Thank you for agreeing to help us,’ he said. ‘I know the last thing you want is more Westerners intruding.’
‘True,’ she replied. ‘But, by the sounds of it, the redheaded girl has an idea of what the syndicate is after. Which means we know where they’ll be.’
Ginny nodded.
‘Don’t worry,’ the woman said, placing a hand on Ginny’s shoulder. ‘We’ll find your Luna.’
Ginny blinked, quickly.
‘T-thank you,’ Ginny said. ‘Er, what did you say your name was?’
‘I’m afraid you probably couldn’t pronounce it in my language,’ the elderly woman replied, smiling. ‘But, in English, I go by Sky.’
‘Thank you, Sky.’
Sam laid out a map on the bonnet of one of the jeeps. They had marked the area of syndicate activity in red ink; sure enough, it was laid out in a twenty mile perimeter. The end of the dirt track was tantalisingly close to it.
‘Ginny, we don’t blame you if you want to stay here with the jeep,’ Remus said, kindly. ‘We can keep some agents back here with you until it’s safe.’
‘No,’ Ginny replied, her mind set. ‘I promised Luna I’d keep her safe, and I’m not letting a criminal gang hurt her.’
Remus smiled.
‘Okay.’
Leaving the jeeps behind on the track with a few agents, they ventured into the rainforest, using an old well-worn path. Sky and the local activists with her were leading the way, making sure that the MI6 agents avoided any dangerous plants or bugs.
The Amazon was unlike anything Ginny had ever seen before, and it honestly took her breath away. Trees and foliage spread out in all directions, and she could hear the calls of various birds and animals in the canopies above them. If she hadn’t been so worried about Luna, she would have been transfixed.
‘Footprints.’
Sky was crouched down on the ground a few feet ahead.
‘Someone came this way very recently,’ she said, ‘A group of them, and wearing deep-soled boots. Except one, who was just wearing shoes.’
Tonks and Sky nodded at each other.
They continued along the path.
Eventually, they rounded a corner, and came across a large tree. And Ginny’s eyes immediately zeroed in on something.
Hair.
Blond hair.
Luna’s hair.
It was snagged on the low-hanging branch.
Ginny locked eyes with Tonks, who nodded.
The agent exchanged looks with Remus and Sky, and the agents around them began to move into position. Sky mouthed the phrase ‘underground cave network’. The base was below where they were standing.
Gotcha. Ginny thought. Don’t worry, Lu; I’m coming.

Revenge
This is way more my element, I love writing tragedy. This is intense; this has even more TWs then before. This will be a lot of my biggest fears put into one fic and somethings that have actually happened. I won’t be telling which is which. There will be almost no comfort in this fic and it will be ending on a cliff hanger with nothing after. So, let your mind wander.
CW/TW: Past Abusive relationship, Anxiety, Depression, Panic Attack, past age difference relationship (Illegal), Violence, sexual assault, revenge p0rn

Besides Luka, I made him up, don’t care for him tho
Leo and Sirius had left to talk to Coach about three hours ago, long enough that Logan was getting anxious. He and Finn were sitting on the couch trying to distract themselves by watching shitty shows on TLC. My 600lbs life was on but neither of them knew whose story it was because they weren’t paying attention.
“Should we text them and ask how it's going? I mean it’s been a long time..” Finn looked up from his phone while chewing his lip. His finger is hovering over his phone's keypad, he had created a group chat with him, Sirius, Logan and Leo. He hadn’t texted anything but was worried about Leo, he can’t get the idea of Leo stuffing himself between the toilet and bathtub while hyperventilating. He didn’t want Leo to go through that again especially not in front of people who he was close with but not as close as he and Logan are.
“I don’t see why not… I am getting nervous also.” Finn sighs and nods, kissing the Canadian’s hand that was intertwined with his as a way to anchor themselves.
Cap, Lo, Peanut and You
Fish: Hey hows it going???
7:00pm
Cap: ???
Cap: Ask Nutty
7:01pm
Lo: Isn’t he with you?!
7:01pm
Cap: I dropped him off in the parking garage like an hour ago…
7:09pm
Fish: WHAT?!
7:10pm
Finn was officially freaking out he was calling Sirius while Logan was calling Leo. Leo’s phone was going straight to voicemail. Logan called 15 times and was crying by the 5th. Finn got a hold of Sirius after the second try.
“Why didn’t you answer the first time!?” He was so scared that he was getting angry at Sirius who was only trying to help. “You dropped him off an hour ago? Why didn’t you walk him up to the apartment? You know the situation he's in! WHAT THE FUCK!” He was crying and hung up on Sirius and throwing his phone down on the floor and covering his face with his hands. Logan was still trying to call Leo, desperately clutching his phone.
Ten minutes later there was a knock on the door. The boys fell over each other as they ran to the door. To their disappointment, It was Remus and Sirius. They let them in, sitting at the island in the kitchen Remus spoke first.
“Okay, so we know Sirius was the last person to see Leo. Do we know that Leo hasn’t just taken some time for himself? He has been pretty distant lately and Sirius said he was pretty secluded when he dropped him off. He asked Sirius not to worry about walking him up.” He furrowed his brow thinking about how odd that sounded now that he was repeating it. He looked over at his boyfriend.
“It sounds weird now that I think about it.. I should have listened to my gut.” Sirius was obviously blaming himself for this and rests his elbows on the counter and puts his face in his hands. Then they hear it… Logan and Finn’s phones are going off. Finns was still on the floor and Logan's was on the coffee table. Finn got up to retrieve them. He almost drops his phone back on the floor when he sees a message from Leo. Leo. That means he’s okay. Right? He’s okay. He grabbed Logan's phone and trotted back over to the trio.
“It's from Leo!” He unlocked his phone before Logan and froze. He grabs his lover's arm and stares at his phone. It was a link to an Instagram live. He looks at Logan's screen to make sure he isn’t seeing this wrong. “It’s a link to a live…” Suddenly everyone's phones are blowing up with messages and twitter @s and dms. It was all about Leo. People saying this is a sick joke and some people even cheering something on. Finn clicks the link, he wished he never did.
On the screen was their beautiful boy, tied up, beat up, naked and sobbing. There were three voices they could hear. One was laughing, one was yelling horrible things into Leo’s face while holding him by his hair, and the last one was talking about how Hot all this was. Logan, Finn, Remus and Sirius all sat in a defining silence. The background of the video was somewhere outside. They could hear water running, they could see grass on the ground and blood. There was a lot of blood. The man holding Leos hair looked at the camera and smiled. This man had the audacity to smile as he was committing a horrible crime!. They watch him push Leo down and stomp on his head.
Leo was crying out in pain, they all heard a crack before the video went quiet. Then all three men in the video started laughing. What happened next was disgusting. They started masturbating over Leos unconscious body. After they all came onto Leo there were lights that came on in the background. They were police lights. The live Ended and nobody moved.
Logan suddenly ran into the bathroom and was vomiting while Finn just broke down falling to the ground screaming and sobbing. Sirius started crying and mumbling to himself so quietly no one could understand. Remus was still completely frozen, having no idea how to react.
Logan was crying as he threw up, he just kept heaving even when his stomach had nothing left in it. The sound of the crack was repeating in his head as he shakily sat back on the floor and sobbed. Finn was pounding his fists on the ground telling himself it was his fault. He was crying so loud that he didn’t hear the knock on the door. Remus, being the only one who hasn’t broken down yet from what he saw, walked to the door and opened it a little to see who it was.
“Is this the residence of Finn O’Hara and Logan Trembaly?” Two Police officers stood outside the door. Remus nodded and was just staring at them waiting for them to say something. “Leo Knut has been the victim of a violent crime, He is alive but in a bad condition. He's at Gryffindor Community Hospital. He's in the ER right now but I would recommend you get down there. We will be questioning him and all of you when he wakes up.” Remus nods again and quietly thanks them. He scrapes up all the boys and gets them to the car in one piece. The drive to the hospital was eerily quiet.
They got to the hospital and walked into the ER, they saw five different police officers there, talking to a nurse. Logan went up to the front desk to ask for news about Leo. They were sent over to the officers who were talking to the nurse about the injuries The young boy had acquired.
“We’re here for Leo Knut” He says to the group. The officers look at them sadly and nod to the nurse. They walk away to go sit down. One puts a hand on Logan's shoulder and shakes his head. All their anxiety is now through the roof.
“Why don’t we go somewhere more private.” She leads them into a glass soundproof room as Logan and Finn take a seat Remus Speaks up.
“We’re going to go call the team and let them know what's going on” He and Sirius go to call everyone outside the Hospital doors.
“I’m sorry this happened, I don’t know the full extent of the crime but I heard it was on a Livestream.” She looks at them sadly as she organizes the papers on her clip board and sits across from them. “ Let's talk about the injuries Mr. Knut has, The ones not to worry about too much are cuts and scrapes to knees, rope burns all up his arms, and a broken nose. The more intense injuries are the ones we are operating on right now. He has blood in his lungs along with a collapsed one, a broken collarbone and his left hand is shattered. He also has a broken Jaw and severe concussion.” She looks up at them. “It is going to take a long time and a lot of work for him to heal completely. I watch him play hockey… I can tell he's a fighter.” She smiles a tiny bit at them. “If you need anything at all ask the front desk for Cindy. Also, stay in here as long as you need.” She gets up and opens the door, she closes the door behind her after she sees that neither of the boys had moved.
About 3 hours and a lot of tears later Cindy had knocked on the door to the glass room where Finn, Logan, Remus and Sirius were standing and pacing. Jackson and Knuny were standing in the corner watching them all pace and Timmy was sitting on a chair bouncing his leg anxiously. They were brought to a room where Leo’s information was written on the door, it pulled at everyone's heart. They all agreed to have Logan and Finn go into the room first, They knew Leo wasn’t awake and would be for a long time.
They opened the door and walked in. There is nothing worse than seeing your lover in a hospital bed with their mouth wired shut. Lo almost couldn’t look at home without crying. He felt Finn pull him into a tight hug as they cried together. This was their boy! The love of their lives!
... And they let this happen to him.
The next time they saw those baby blue eyes. They cried.

Remus fumbled for the light as he shot up in bed, bloodshot eyes fighting through the urge to close as he scanned every corner of the suddenly too bright room. This had been the routine every hour on the hour no matter how much he tried to ignore the growing paranoia and simply stay asleep. The task, as it turned out, was much easier said than done when phantom glass still pricked at his skin and echoing screams rang in his ears so loudly tik could hardly sort his own thoughts out if tik could concentrate enough to have any. Finally satisfied that the shadows weren’t hiding anything Remus allowed tiks head to drop into his hands, groaning in frustration and kicking the tangled blankets off his legs. He doubted he’d be able to get any more sleep of any decent quality so tik may as well just get up and get the day started. It would be a long one after all.
The clock on the stove glared a bright 4:30 in his face accusingly as tik went about getting the coffee pot cleaned and set up. Logan always said the way he used it would break it or tik sooner than later but after three years it still worked just fine so he had no problems patting down three cups of bustelo espresso into the filter and letting it run through before pouring the brewed coffee back into the back and allowing it to brew through the grounds a second time, filling the apartment with the scent of strong slightly burned heaven.Too much creamer in a mug the size of a cereal bowl later and he was sat down on the old couch Roman had let him keep when they moved out of their dorm, computer booting up on the table as he absently dug between the cushions for a fidget toy he knew had to be lost someone in the abyss.
Abandoning the fetch quest to bring up google he stared at the screen intently for a few moments tryin to figure out exactly what it was he was trying to figure out. He’d seen the ghost shows, been to scenes, read the spooky and “informative” books- he thought he had known what he would do if he ever actually saw a ghost in real life. Now that he had...obviously tik didn’t know the first thing about anything. It had to be a poltergeist that much tik knew. They were violent and loud and could manipulate their surroundings, even if in all the supposedly real footage he’d ever seen that wasn’t part of a show there had never been anything quite as destructive and hostile as the being in that house.
But it was a starting point and that would have to be enough for now. Maybe tik could just…
Okay well, typing in “poltergeist” yielded nothing but cheesy movies. He already knew what one was so a definition wouldn’t help…maybe “how to calm a poltergeist?”
Poltergeist activity typically starts with minor isolated incidents. Remus snorted as tik reached p to tug on his bandaged ear. Typically yes, but this wasn’t tiks wallet being misplaced every now and again. Clicking off the article he scrolled down a bit until he came to another that sounded a bit more promising. Establishing Contact With the House Entity. A bit more on the nose than he would have thought was necessary but sometimes the more obvious something was the more straightforward information you could find.
While there are many ways to know whether or not there is a presence in your home the first signs usually start out subtle. General uneasiness is among the most commonly reported- as well as a feeling of being watched or perhaps seeing something flicker just outside the limits of your vision- on;y to find as you turn your head that nothing is waiting for you to find. When it comes to feeling safe within your home it’s best to trust your gut when things feel amiss, and trust it as soon as possible no matter how “crazy” you may think the feelings are. Better to accept a spirit or ghost has entered your life and deal with it as soon as possible than to be too late to do anything at all should things take a turn for the worst.
Rolling tiks eyes at the wording, Remus grabbed up his coffee mug only to realize he must have drained it already without realizing, sighing heavily before getting up for a refill. The apartment was quiet and while tik normally didn’t mind it was setting him on edge this morning, the walls seeming to creep closer anytime he wasn't looking and threatening to trap him in a prison with nothing but his thoughts. Thoughts of shadows that caught his ankles and glass filled winds that ripped his face and shredded his eyes so he couldn’t tell what was real or not while the walls pressed his arms painfully against his ribs until they popped like old sticks and his lungs floated like balloons to escape the hell he had created and still the screaming continued to get louder and louder until it deafened him with blood dripped down his neck and nothing but the vibrations against his skin indicated that they were still screaming to get out get out get-
Remus jerked his head up and startled as his phone peeled away from his face and fell to the floor, still vibrating merrily oblivious of his distress. Looking around confused he straightened his back the rest of the way, groaning in pain as tiks spine popped from his bent in half position he’d been holding for god knows how long. Rubbinghis eyes he remembered his phone and snatched it up just as it stopped vibrating, five missed calls and a few texts filling the home screen all from Janus who as far as Remus could tell had gone from scolding him for sleeping in to asking in his sarcastic/worried way if he had died at the house yesterday and if he should check on tiks ghost.
Checking the time revealed it was currently 9:00, which meant that not only was he an hour late for the only class he has that day but that there would honestly be no point in going so he may as well just act sick and hope Janus wouldn’t be suspicious. He last thing he needed or wanted was getting an “I told you so” about how ghost hunting was going to make him sick with stress one day and he needed a proper sleep schedule and no coffee doesn’t count towards daily hydration and stop double brewing it, you’ll die of a heart attack at twenty-five. Pressing tiks lips in a thin line he shot a text apologizing and saying he had over-exerted himself running so much yesterday so he’d stayed home to rest. A bit of a stretch considering he’d been in track for long enough that a couple of full out sprints with obstacles in one day really wouldn’t have done much but Janus didn’t know that....probably.
-----
The most effective way to establish contact would be through something simple. A twist on/off flashlight is a good place to start as long as you’re clear with your intentions. Turn it on and do a wide sweep of the room you suspect the entity is in, stating in a clear voice that “on means yes and off means no”. Ask clear, deliberate questions while paying attention to the flashlight- the simpler the question the easier the entity will find it to respond. Any electrical equipment you can get- voice and EVP recorders, cameras, thermometers, infrared detectors- anything and everything you have at your disposal can and should be used. The more data there is to work with the closer you’ll be to figuring out what you’re dealing with and how to get it to leave.
The rest of the article had devolved into talk about smudging and priests and offerings to get the spirit to move on- none of which Remus would be using unless whatever it was expressed interest in doing so. He just wanted to know what and who it was and maybe figure out why they had stayed so long after the house had emptied. There was a story there, tik knew it, and his curiosity wasn’t about to let it go until he knew as much of it as possible.
He adjusted his motorcycle helmet one last time before stepping into the house and quietly shutting the door behind him. If tik was going to be attacked again tik was going to make damn sure he’d leave with minimal injuries and both of his eyes- he still couldn’t quite shake the nightmare from this morning and for once would rather take the safe route than risk getting blinded by a glass tornado- ignoring the question of how he would even explain that at the hospital. The house was silent and still, no indication that there had ever been anything in it all yesterday save for the scuffed boot marks beside the wall where he had scraped tiks soles against it trying to get away from the stairwell.
Said stairwell was cheerily lit as usual, sunlight streaming through the ruined window and spilling over the steps in a way he’d find ironically funny if his hands weren’t shaking slightly at the mere thought of trying to climb them. Protecting his face from glass wasn’t the only reason he had worn the helmet; he had surmised earlier that the easiest way to communicate with the ghost would be to get to where they hid when they weren’t shooing people out. So tik had to get up the stairs, rickety and falling in and probably going to kill him or not. He’d even dressed light for the occasion hoping the shedded weight would make it easier, trading his usual platforms for worn doc martins with none of the layers of clothing and chains he was known for. A t-shirt, green corduroy jacket and ripped jeans was as far as he went, thanking whatever god there was that Logan and Janus hadn’t seen him as they’d never let tik live it down. He doubted they’d seen him out of his punk-esque style in a decade and he preferred to keep it that way.
Taking a deep breath, tik carefully placed tiks foot on the first step near the wall where he assumed the least amount of damage would be. His foot didn’t break through with his weight like before so, taking it as a good sign, he braced himself against the wall and moved to the second step. Icd shot through tiks veins suddenly as he whipped his head around in search of the eyes he felt raking his back, but of course there was nothing to see. No nails or glass screeching through the air, no shadows dripping from the crevices he could barely make out through the ooze. Just an empty, unassuming house.
Remus tried not to dwell on the fact that in comparison to yesterday the silence left him more unsettled than being attacked would have.
Tik continued on, practically flattening himself against the wall as tik took it one step at a time, wincing as every creak echoed through the silence and only served to further raise the hair along his arms leaving his nerves electrified. Three quarters of the way of the step split down the middle from the wall to the railing, tils heart beating madly against his chest as he waited for it to collapse underneath him and leave him a bloody heap at the bottom. He took his weight off slowly and shifted to the next step up instead which seemed much more stable. Tik was acutely aware it was growing darker, the sun dimming around the edges as shadows began to ooze, so he tried his best to hurry his shimmy as best he could to try and beat the inevitable.
Blatantly ignoring the way his boots kept catching on nothing he finally reached the top step. Sighing in relief and closing his eyes for a second, tik dug the flashlight out of his pocket and stepped forward….only to bump his foot against the bottom step.
“What the fuck?” He was on the first floor again, the sun shining merrily at the top and spilling over the clearly visible stairs. Not a shadow in sight. “Okay, then I won’t blink. Needed the exercise anyway ghostie.”
He went up much faster this time, holding his staring contest with the railing like his life depended on it. As the air grew cold and tiks joints stiff he was starting to think it might. Tripping his way up the stairs as his vision began to tunnel he slammed his foot perhaps a tad more decisely than was appropriate on the top step. Tik grinned and stood up straight, making his way towards the corner to finally see what awaited him down the hall- and smashed his nose into the front door.
Nostrils flaring, Remus spun on his heel and marched his way back to the steps and slammed the flashlight on to shine it up the stairs. Tik took a moment to calm tikself and remember to control tiks volume. Yelling probably wouldn’t be the best tithing to do considering he’d nearly gotten an impromptu piercing yesterday just from sitting down. “Very impressive mind games but Janus could do better in his sleep.”
If the entire house darkening for a few seconds before returning to normal was a response that was probably something Remus should have thought more about before speaking. He leaned against the far wall and started again. “Look, I’ve never seen a ghost before so this is cool and shit but- they’re gonna be tearing this place down soon- I’m not sure they could fix and sell it in the state it’s in. Will you be stuck here when they do?”
The house was deathly silent as he waited, flashlight momentarily forgotten before he nearly dropped it. “Oh right! You have no problems manipulating objects so- on is yes, off is no....or maybe- one blink for yes to for no? I won’t ask anything too complicated I swear-”
Tik was cut off by the tool being ripped from his hands and catapulted into the far wall, bulbs smashing and batteries exploding out from the other end. He watched the plastic case clatter to the ground and roll away past his field of sight. While he wasn’t exactly sure which answer the entity had picked he was pretty sure it translated roughly to “fuck your flashlight.” which while much more impressive than a one word response it was decidedly less helpful.
“Okay! You wanna play it that way?” Deciding to do what he did best and simply not think he took a running start and sprinted up the steps, heedless of the wood crumbling beneath him and the shadows licking desperately at his heels. Turning sharply at the top tik kept running until he reached the very end of the hall, spinning around and holding his arms up in a defensive position, preparing for the worst as logic finally caught up to him.
For a moment nothing happened, a flea could have sneezed and Remus probably would have heard it for all the noise there was in the house. If his idiocy had taught him anything however it was that silence here was rarely ever a good thing.
His heart leapt in his throat as a door slammed against the wall, plaster raining down on the floor while the door slammed back into place looking as if it upset the frame with its force. Further down the hall another door did the same, this time taking an entire section of wall with it as it whipped back into place. The last door slammed with even more force, cracking the door itself in two but failing to swing back immediately. Instead it creaked back and forth slowly, as if undecided whether or not enough destruction had been caused to justify its closing. Remus watched it with wide, bloodshot eyes, pressed as tightly against the wall as he could get with shaking knees and rapid breaths. This had been a mistake. Whether his coming here was to selfishly prove there were such things as ghosts or to actually help he wasn’t sure- but this wasn’t at all what he’d expected or wanted.
Tik locked his eyes on the door which had now stopped creaking, shadows deepening around it as a cluster seemed to form just at hand height, pushing the ruined wood aside as it stepped into the hallway fully. There was nowhere to run from the terrifying entity that stood before him, writhing dimness that put a sickly filter over the light coming in through the dingy window. Tiks breathing picked up as he realized just how screwed tik was with no exit short of trying to bust through the wall and nothing but tiks mouth that had already gotten him into this mess to begin with.
He shrunk back as the form began to move slowly down the hall, a sound registering that sounded like talons scraping against the walls as he frantically looked for what could be making the noise. Whimpering as gouges appeared in the walls sans any talons or weapons to be seen, tik could only press himself back further and hope to god this wasn’t where his stupidity led him. A painful end in an empty house with a ghost that made the walls press in on him and ripped at his arms painfully and pulled every last breath of air from tiks lungs that it could before it decided to run him through-
He gasped as his back suddenly hit the floor, whipped around and thrown a few feet away so that he was facing the wall he had just been cowering against. Eye shapes so blacked they almost glowed purple stared into his own terrified brown ones mere inches away.
“Leave.” Remus felt the word more than he heard it- a deep, rumbling base shaking him to his core as tik struggled to raise up on tiks elbows without bumping “heads” with the ghost. Creaking snapped his attention to the boards in front of his feet as the floor began to ripple and crack beneath him, his scrabbling to gain purchase making it worse as wood chips began to fly up and around him. Splinters ripped at his clothes and tore his face as tik finally just rolled over and kicked off the wall, half sprawling towards the steps as he rolled sloppily to his feet.
“L̴͇͓̦͎͊͊E̵̗̻͉͖̟̿̃̇̐͑͗A̶̛̩̤̖̻͛̌̋̓́̌̚V̷̢̰̎̿͆Ę̵̜͓̩͈̺̜̳̗̪̞̦͔͎̄̈̂̍̐̅̍͌̒̌̕͝!̵͙͖͔̲̹̟̫̣̻͙̤̿̐̊̀͒͜͝!̴̨̨̧̘̇̑̎͐͗͌̑̒͛͊̂̓̓̑̚ͅ”
The voice bounced off the walls and slammed into him, knocking him forward and giving tik just enough time to cover his face before tik was sliding down the stairs on his stomach. Groaning, tks eyes widened as he tried to get up only to find tik couldn’t. His arms throbbed in pain and his hip pulled painfully even as he tried using only one leg to push himself away from the shadows coming down the stairs like an infected flood. “Please-”
“L̶̡̛͙̝̙̥͖̳̮̝͕͍͙͎͖̘̘̽̈́͑͑̇̆͛̀̈́̿͊̔̿̚̚̚͠͝͝Ê̵̡̨̡̧̧̪̗͙̲̗̻͈͓̠̟̞̪͚̰͔̑̏̋̉̊͑̿̈͂̓̓̇̍̀̍̚̕͝ͅA̷͎̯̱̲̤͇͉͍͓̤̦̕͜͝ͅV̶̛̞͛͂̓̅̚͘̚͠E̴̬͕̬̣̟̽̄̽̆́́̋̀̈́̏͋͂͌̑̋́̊͘͝͝!̸̢̛̘̘̝̰̖̼̝͙̖͕̦̹͓͈͉͓̫̰̘͙̾͆̍͆̏̑́͒̿͊͂̈́̈̏͝͠ͅ!̷̨̧̭̪͙͈̫̰͖̻̤̺̝͋̉̐̓͐̾̓̓̏͋͂͜ͅ”
“I can’t!” Remus sobbed as his body was flung like a ragdoll towards the door, limbs splayed out in a way he’d joke about if he wasn’t so afraid he was going to die. Everything in him was screaming to just get up, crawl if he had to but get away, get away, get away-
And then he stood.
His body protested immediately but he hardly registered it in his panic. He hadn’t moved...and it was quiet. Why was it quiet? It shouldn’t be quiet he was going to die and now it was quiet-
“T̵̯̾h̵̳̑i̸̦͂s̶̢͆ ̷̰͌ỉ̶̗s̵̜̾-̸̲͗ ̷͈̈́I̸͔̅'̴͒͜d̷̗͘ ̸̫͊f̵̜̆o̸̡͠r̵̛̼g̸͎̈́o̶̞͊t̸̹͂t̵̺̑ė̵͔ṇ̵̿-”
“Forgotten what?” He mouthed, not a sound escaping from tiks cracked and bloodied lips.
His bruised fists clenched of their own accord and he began to jerkily move towards the door.
“I̷ ̵w̷a̷n̸t̷ ̷y̸o̵u̶ ̸o̷u̵t̶ ̵a̶n̸d̵ ̶I̴ ̵w̶a̸n̵t̴ ̷y̴o̷u̸ ̵f̶a̷r̸ ̶a̴w̵a̸y̷” The voice continued to echo in his head. “I̷ ̷w̷a̵n̸t̸ ̴y̵o̴u̶ ̴o̶u̶t̴ ̷a̶n̵d̵ ̶I̷'̶m̵ ̶n̸o̵t̶ ̴l̶e̴t̶t̶i̷n̴g̴ ̴y̴o̶u̵ ̴g̷o̶ ̸u̷n̷t̶i̸l̴ ̷I̶'̸m̸ ̵s̷u̶r̸e̷ ̸y̶o̴u̴ ̸c̶a̸n̸'̵t̶ ̸c̸o̶m̴e̴ ̵b̴a̴c̴k̸!̸”
A chill ran through him as tik tried desperately to fight but it was no use. Tik slammed through the door into the cool night air, startling him as he wondered just how long he’d been trapped inside the house.
And then his body began to run.

The Power of Family: Prologue
Masterpost
Chapter Warnings: blood mention (not a lot), food mention, (what could be interpreted as) very brief self-harm, mention of chronic illness in and future death of an off-screen parent

---
Virgil narrowed his eyes as he felt something tug at his core, gentle but insistent.
"Yes?" he murmured to himself, closing his eyes as he traced the pull back to its source. His eyebrows lifted in surprise as he saw where the call was coming from.
Virgil didn’t know mortal years very well, but a boy who couldn’t have been more than sixteen was kneeling at a temple in a small town. The temple wasn't much - four columns of wood, capped with a woven roof barely holding itself together, acting as a safehouse for all six of the gods. The boy was in front of the single altar, which was made of a large, flat rock, his heels tucked underneath him. Virgil heard the boy’s words echo in his mind as he began to speak.
"Remus, God of Life; Roman, God of Stories; Patton, God of Trust; Virgil, God of Strength; Janus, God of Truth; Logan, God of Wisdom.” The boy exhaled shakily as he placed a small wooden bowl filled with berries and fruit on the altar, bowing his head. "I ask for your aid in this time. I... My mother is sick. Dying. She cannot live much longer with our doctors and medicine." The boy sat back, closing his eyes. He swallowed, and firmly nodded once as though he had decided something. "I offer anything you ask in return for her life.”
He reached into a pocket in his cloak, withdrawing a knife. Virgil tensed as the boy drew it across his palm, letting blood well up over his skin and drip onto the altar next to the bowl.
"Please, spare her."
The boy wiped the knife on the ground next to him, cleaning the blade. He pressed his palm to the rock of the altar, staying there for a moment before standing, a smear of red remaining on the stone.
Virgil's eyes snapped open as the soft pull dissipated. He broke into a dead run.
~~~
Virgil rubbed at his forehead in frustration as he stared down at the stone at his feet, his eyes tracing the carved rune corresponding to his abilities.
“What are we doing about this situation?” Virgil asked. He was trying his best not to reveal just how panicked he was; the unsettling feeling that always permeated the air of the ritual clearing was making the attempt far more difficult.
A teenager – barely more than a child – was offering his life to them. All of them. In return for his mother’s continued life.
“We don’t have much of a choice, do we?” Patton’s voice was wavering, the god of trust barely able to keep tears from spilling down their face. They were sitting curled up just behind their own runed stone.
Roman, the god of stories, gritted his teeth. “There should be an exception. Isn’t there?” They turned to Logan, the god of wisdom. “There must be. For young mortals? Who don’t know what they’re offering?”
Logan spread her hands, her face sorrowful. “He knows full well what he is offering. He understands what it meant when he spilled his blood on the altar.”
Patton’s knuckles were white where he was gripping the god of truth’s hand. “He had such… trust in all of us. That we could do it.”
“He spoke the truth when he said he was willing to give anything.” Janus’s voice was quiet, but it cut through the silence regardless.
Remus jumped up, pacing frantically back and forth. “There has to be something.” He raked his hands through his hair, his face contorted in concentration. “I can- I can create something. An exception. Right?”
“Not without the belief, knowledge, and trust to back it up,” Virgil said. “And you three can’t spread it that quickly. Regardless of what we could do otherwise.” He looked apologetically at where the tears had begun spilling over Patton’s cheeks, the god silently sobbing.
“We can’t take his entire life force,” Logan said forcefully, her face unusually emotive. “We need to figure out another solution.”
Virgil closed his eyes, trying to trace back what he knew about this child. “His mother fell ill when he was only a child,” he offered weakly. “He was forced to grow up much too quickly, beginning to do daily hard work to support his family even before his voice dropped.” He opened his eyes. “Can we do anything with that?”
Logan’s eyes suddenly held a glimmer of hope. “Pull it forward more, to today,” she said eagerly. Virgil frowned in confusion, but closed his eyes to do so. “What do you see?”
Virgil bit the inside of his cheek as he very carefully located Thomas again, nudging at his past ever so slightly to get today’s records. He gasped as he came upon something extremely unusual.
“There are extreme abnormalities,” Virgil whispered. “At approximately the time he contacted us. Is his plea to us the reason why?”
He heard a rustling, then Logan spoke. “Describe the abnormalities.”
Virgil probed at the area, wincing slightly as it seemed to resist his attempts at further exploration. He crouched down and placed his hand on the carved stone at his feet, the magical conduit boosting his abilities just enough to assess Thomas’s strength in more detail. “...It’s all over the place - strong, then weak, then practically nonexistent, and back again. It’s resisting all of my attempts to look into it more.”
He opened his eyes to see Logan pacing back and forth excitedly.
“And after?”
Virgil frowned. “It’s- different,” he said haltingly. “I don’t know how to explain it. It’s familiar, for some reason, but certainly different than it was before he contacted the six of us.”
Logan turned to face him. “Trace me.”
Virgil reared back, startled at the sudden change of subject. “I- what?”
“Trace. Me.” Logan stepped closer, her presence intimidating despite how small she was compared to Virgil.
Virgil shook his head slowly, then looked into Logan’s eyes, diving into her mind. He felt the familiar resistance, then the usual sparks that came from the other gods’ inhuman powers.
“That’s enough,” Logan said, blinking her eyes and pulling out of the trace. Virgil shook his head slightly to reorient himself. “Now, how similar was Thomas’s mind to mine?”
Virgil’s eyes widened. Oh. “He’s not human,” he breathed.
Logan tilted her head from side to side. “Not completely,” she corrected, before her face split into a grin. “Don’t you see? We can- do more things with him, his life, now that he’s no longer entirely mortal.”
“We don’t have to take his entire life.” Janus’s eyes were filled with hope.
“Precisely.” Logan quickly walked over to Janus, grabbing the other god’s hands and squeezing them tightly, bringing them to her chest. “We should be able to- split his life force, for lack of a better word. Wherever we like. And likely manipulate it slightly, so we won’t be bound to a year for a year.”
Remus pulled his gaze up from where he was looking at the ground. “Yes. We can.” His voice was filled with hope.
“What could we manipulate it to? That it’s a life worth living?”
Remus’ eyes began to glow a bright green, and he was silent for a few moments. He blinked, his eyes going back to normal, and squeezed his hands on his thighs before speaking. “We could take twelve of Thomas’ years and make it twenty-four of his mother’s. She would live to sixty years; that is far closer to the typical mortal lifespan, is it not?”
Logan nodded. “Longer, even.”
“So- twelve years of Thomas’ life would make him quite young, would it not?” Patton seemed excited at the idea.
“He would be four years old,” Remus said, nodding. “Very young.”
“He could not live in his village,” Roman murmured. “Especially as we do not know the extent of his- otherness after sacrificing himself to us.”
Virgil took a deep breath in an attempt to center himself. “No,” he whispered.
“He would lose both memories and appearance after the transfer,” Remus added. “For all intents and purposes, he would not have lived a day past four years.”
Patton snapped their head up suddenly. “Can we-” They cut themself off as all of the others looked at them, pressing their lips together.
“Can we what, love?” Janus asked, thumb rubbing over Patton’s knuckles soothingly.
“I know we have not… done it before. But could we- could we take him in?”
Roman inhaled sharply, the only noise heard in the silence that fell after Patton’s words.
“I know it… it’s not something that any of us – or at least I – have considered at length.” Patton swallowed, looking around at the other gods. “But… well. I will not pretend that I would not… appreciate the chance to raise a child, mortal-born or otherwise.”
Janus was looking at Patton with a facial expression that Virgil had no hope of deciphering. Logan looked considering, and Remus was looking at his partner like they were the center of his universe. When Virgil looked over to Roman, squeezing his hand where it was still on his partner’s thigh, he didn’t see any immediate negativity towards the idea.
“I would love that,” Remus breathed, breaking the silence that had fallen over the clearing.
“Would he be- um.” Virgil licked his lips, carefully measuring his breathing as everyone looked at him. “Would he be just… yours?” He gestured to Patton, Remus, and Janus. “Or would he be… all of ours? Together? I mean, I just. Um.” He shrunk back a bit. “Yeah.”
Patton exchanged a glance with Remus, then looked over to Janus, the three of them seeming to have a nonverbal conversation for a few moments.
“I don’t think we would be able to do it on our own,” Janus eventually said. “And it would be incredibly difficult for any of us to raise a child without them seeing all six of us as parental figures, considering how entwined all of our existences are.”
Virgil nodded his head, conceding the point to Janus. “I suppose,” he said in agreement.
Logan exhaled, standing up straight and bringing her hands to clasp behind her back. “So we are in agreement, then? We intend to… adopt… this mortal child and raise him as our own?”
Nobody disagreed.
“Well,” Logan said. “Let us go, then.”
She held out her hand to Janus, who took it and extended a hand to Patton in turn. They offered their hand to Remus, and the rest of them joined until Roman closed the circle by clasping Logan’s other hand.
Patton looked around the circle, making eye contact with all of the other gods. “Last chance to back out,” they offered quietly. Nobody spoke up.
“Okay,” they said, closing their eyes and taking a deep breath. They all stepped onto the stones inset into the ground in front of them, the runes carved into the rocks beginning to pulse with power. As the gods began to whisper under their breath, they glowed brighter and brighter until it was no longer possible to see them.
After what might have been seconds and what might have been years, the light faded. The clearing was empty, except for a small child sleeping peacefully in the circle of carved stones.
If you had told 15 years old Virgil that one day he would’ve fallen in love with none other than Remus Grimm, he would’ve probably ended up cracking a rib or two by laughing too much.
And yet, look at him now -19 years old ad head over hills for his best friend, who just happened to have had to move two towns over because of college.
God, feelings sucked.
Virgil groaned in frustration, letting his forehead hit the textbook lying open in front of him with a muffled thump.
He was tired. He was so. Fucking. Tired. Tired of college, tired of this stupid crush that kept stubbornly refusing to go away, tired of his stupid anxiety and tired of having to deal with all of this without his best friend by his side.
Yes, he was grumpy because he hadn’t seen Remus in more than a month, sue him.
As if sensing his worsening mood, his phone buzzed, breaking Virgil out of his thoughts. Letting out a series of annoyed grumbles and half-assed curses, Virgil snatched his phone from where it was lying on the desk, Remus’ wild grin staring back at him from the screen.
It was a photo they had taken that summer, just before Remus had had to leave for college. Roman had been the one taking it, the day Patton had decided to drag -for some more literally than others- their entire group out for some ice cream.
Remus had thrown his arm around Virgil’s shoulder, proudly showing off his chocolate mustache as the other fumbled with his cone to keep it from falling to the ground.
Virgil remembered glaring daggers at him for a total of two seconds before Remus’ waggling eyebrows did him in and sent him in a snickering fit.
Virgil remembered the weight of Remus’ arm around his shoulder, his warmth seeping through his shirt in a way that somehow, didn’t make him uncomfortable -he had never felt uncomfortable with Remus, not once, not even under the hot summer Florida weather in the middle of July.
He only saw that photo for the first time later that night, staring at Remus’ wide grin and sparkling green eyes as his heart hammered in his chest.
The realization had crashed over him like a tsunami, every thought in his head screeching to a halt as he slowly became more and more aware of the fact that he was very much in love with his best friend.
”Of course,” Virgil remembered thinking, staring at his phone with wide eyes, ”who else could it be?”
And boy if that thought alone hadn’t scared the living shit out of him.
For a moment, Virgil let his mind linger on the memory of that sunny afternoon, a soft smile stretching on his face.
Then, he swiped up and clicked on the notification.
”You up for a little chat?” read Remus’ message, followed by a string of random emojis Virgil didn’t even try to decipher -he knew it would probably be useless since they rarely made sense in the first place.
Virgil frowned, threw a considering glance at his textbook and the various papers still scattered on the desk and shrugged -it was not like he was getting anything done anyway.
“sure, why not”
Not even ten seconds later Virgil’s phone lit up with an incoming call, the first notes of My Immortal filling the room.
“Hey there Spider boy!” came Remus’ voice from the other side of the line.
Immediately, Virgil felt some of the tension leave his shoulders, relaxing back on his chair as he pushed himself away from the cluttered desk.
“Sup, Trashman,” he answered, not even bothering to fight down the tired grin tugging at his lips -Remus was not there to tease him about it anyway, so.
“Wow, don’t sound too excited to hear from me.”
Virgil snorted, his smile turning more and more genuine as the seconds passed.
“Fuck you.”
“Maybe later. But really, you sound like shit -everything alright? Are there some bones that I need to break?”
Virgil groaned, leaning back as he pinched the bridge of his nose. Now that he wasn’t panicking over his homework exhaustion was slamming down on him full-force, making it very hard for him to string together a coherent thought let alone think about filtering whatever shit was coming out of his mouth.
“It’s just… fucking everything, man. College is kicking my ass, my anxiety is kicking my ass and I’m just- I’m just tired, you know?”
From the other side of the line, Virgil heard Remus hiss in sympathy at his words.
“Yeah, shit, that sounds rough as hell.”
A beat of silence, and then-
“I can drive over and burn down your campus if you want. No college, no classes. Boom, airtight.”
Virgil couldn’t have stopped the amused snickers leaving his mouth even if he’d tried, shoulders shaking with his laughter as he fought to stifle it down.
“Thanks for the very tempting offer, but I think I’ll give it a pass for now.”
Then, he sighed, feeling his smile slip away as he stared at the ceiling, his sadness starting to creep up on him again. “... I miss you,” he whispered -he hadn’t exactly meant to say that out loud, but he had and now just couldn’t stop.
“I just- I miss our daily escapades and you sneaking into my room at the oddest hours of the day because you decided for some reason that simply using the front door was too mainstream.”
Virgil took in a ragged breath, distantly feeling his eyes start to sting with unshed tears.
“I miss being able to just call you when everything gets too much with the knowledge you’ll be knocking at my window in five minutes max. I miss having you physically by my side every day, I miss my best friend and I feel so fucking bad about it because you’re following your dreams and I’m proud of you, I really am but I also want you right here by my side and-”
Virgil audibly snapped his mouth shut, pressing a hand over his lips to stifle his sobs as tears streamed down his face out of his control.
“I’m sorry,” he whimpered, moving the phone away from his ear.
“Virgil-” Remu voice called, sounding worried and maybe a little desperate. but before he could say anything more, Virgil hung up, letting his room fall back into silence before throwing the phone somewhere on his bed.
Virgil bit down hard on his lip, but he could do nothing against the sobs that kept bubbling in his throat. One escaped, then another and soon Virgil could do nothing but curl up with his head hidden between his knees, yearning for the one person that could not help him the way he wanted him to.
+++
Virgil didn’t exactly remember when he fell asleep, his memory being somewhat hazy in-between the tears that seemed to never end and the way he kept feeling like something was trying to squeeze him to death from the inside-out.
What he did remember, however, was waking up to a very familiar sound -one he’d thought he wouldn’t get to hear again in quite some time.
Initially, during those few moments floating between dreams and awakening, when reality hasn’t quite set in yet and sleep still hangs heavily from your eyelids, Virgil had almost believed he was still dreaming, his own vain hopes playing cruel tricks to his brain.
But the seconds kept ticking and Virgil kept hearing the goddamn sound, so there were only two possible explanations -either someone was trying to break into his room, or-
Virgil bolted up, almost tumbling off the chair he had fallen asleep on -which, ouch- in his haste to get to the window.
And sure enough, there Remus was, with his signature manic grin as he waved at Virgil from the tree branch he was perched on.
Virgil stared, hands moving almost on their own as they went through the familiar motions of unlocking the window to let his best friend in.
“Thanks, it was starting to get chilly out!” Remus chirped, climbing in with practiced ease and plopping himself down on the bed.
“What the fuck,” Virgil answered, still trying to process what was going on.
“I- you- what???” Virgil felt like his brain was about to implode, his gaze flickering from Remus to the window and then back to Remus again.
“Dude, what the hell are you doing here? It’s fucking two am or something like that and you live like, three hours away!”
Remus shrugged, shuffling around so he could sit cross-legged in the middle of the bed.
“My best friend is hurting, why would I not come?”
“It’s the middle of the week, you have classes tomorrow,” Virgil weakly pointed out, starting to feel a little choked up with all the emotions coursing through him at once.
“It’s Thursday, or Friday morning is you wanna be accurate,” Remus easily countered. “I know for a fact that neither you nor I have anything important going on tomorrow and the weekend is class free, so I’m going to crash here until Monday morning since we both have afternoon classes. And no, this is not up to debate. It’s happening, Spider Boy.”
Virgil blinked, staring at him with wide eyes as his heart hammered in his chest.
There was a tingling sensation running through all of his body, electrifying in the best of ways. It felt like fire and ice and water altogether, filling him up and up until-
“I love you,” Virgil blurted out, unable to stop the words from tumbling out any longer.
Remus stared for a second before a dazzling grin took over his face.
“I love you too!” he chirped, grinning so wide Virgil distantly worried if it didn’t hurt to pull at the muscles that much.
“No, uh-” Virgil stuttered, all too aware of how flustered he probably looked at that moment.
He bit his lip, pondering his next course of action. He could still salvage this, just let it go and make Remus believe he meant it in a platonic way and nothing more, burying his feelings in the deepest and darkest corner of his heart. But on the other hand… did he really want to do that?
“I meant in a romantic way, Remus,” he finally admitted, looking everywhere but at his best friend, “I love you as in I want to be your boyfriend and kiss you and stuff.”
Silence fell, filling the room as Virgil kept carefully avoiding Remus’ eyes.
God, he’d ruined everything, didn’t he?
Then he saw a familiar hand reach out and grab a fistful of his hoodie, firmly tugging him forward before he could express his confusion.
Virgil let out a startled yelp, stumbling towards the bed until he found himself face-to-face with his best friend. Still grinning, Remus winked before leaning in, erasing the last few inches separating them as he kissed him square on the lips.
Virgil froze, eyes as wide as saucers as he tried to comprehend whatever the fuck was going on. But before he could do that, Remus pulled back, slowly letting his eyes slide open again as a small, soft smile tugged at the corner of his lips -it was such a strange expression to see on Remus’ face, but Virgil found that he didn’t mind it at all, as long as it was directed at him.
“I know what you meant,” Remus chuckled, pecking Virgil on the lips again for good measure, “and I love you too. Now, are you gonna actually get on the bed and cuddle or do I need to drag you under the covers myself?”
Virgil let out a startled snort, feeling like he was reeling from the last five minutes alone. Still, he dutifully climbed on the bed and flopped down, feeling his exhaustion start to creep back on him again.
Remus grinned, laying down beside Virgil and immediately cuddling as close as humanly possible.
“Comfy?” Virgil teased, moving his hand to gently card it through the other’s hair.
“Hush boyfriend, pillows don’t talk,” Remus grumbled, already halfway gone as he somehow snuggled even closer.
Virgil hummed, leaning down to leave a kiss in Remus’ hair.
Boyfriend, uh? Well, it did have a nice ring to it.
A Robot Father's Affection
Virgil is a night guard at a kids restaurant that's filled with human-looking robots that entertain, spread love, and have fun with the children.
Or they were programmed to...
As it's been rumored, the robots are all a little malfunctioned in their own certain ways. One of these malfunctions is in Patton: a fatherly robot who struggles to understand the meaning behind 'hands off'...
This fanfiction was inspired by the Sanders Sides FNAF AU by none other, than @burnadolt on Tumblr!
Here's a reblogged post on the general concept of the AU:
Thank you for the inspiration! And now, enjoy the fic.
Virgil was halfway out of his seat, staring intensely at the screens. The animatronics were moving around again, and heading closer to his quarters, and Virgil was NOT having it. He quickly tried to make sure he had all 5 animatronics in check. Roman and Remus were backstage, practicing their sword fight scene for the next day. Janus (nicknamed Deceit by most of the animatronics) was walking around in the hallways and getting closer to his headquarters. And Patton was-
Oh shit…
Where was PATTON?!
Virgil quickly tried looking for him as quick as possible. He flipped through camera after camera, but there was no sign of the fatherly figure. Suddenly, Virgil jolted at the clanging sound to his right. Virgil quickly ran up and pressed the door closed. Thankfully, it closed completely before the robot could stop it.
Virgil sighed in relief and listened to the sounds of clanging against the door. It didn’t take long for the banging to stop, and for the hall to be clear of robots again. When the cameras confirmed this, Virgil opened the door again and resumed working like usual.
All of a sudden, Virgil’s arms were clamped together by a pair of robotic arms! Virgil screamed and continued to scream and wiggle as his body was lifted off the ground.
“How about a BIIIIG HUG?” A voice spoke. Virgil gasped and resumed his squirming as he tried to get out of the robot’s grip. The voice sounded like Patton’s loving voice. But the voice was deceiving. Behind the loving voice, was a creepy, broken robot with intentions to kidnap, maybe even kill.
“LET ME GO!” Virgil shouted.
“But hugs are good for you! Logan told me that hugs can help kids who are scared.” Patton told him.
Virgil gulped and continued to wiggle. “Not when the hugs are being given by the one thing they’re afr- I DON’T WANT A HUG.” Virgil yelled.
Patton’s robotic eyes widened in surprise as he processed the loud, but clear words: ‘I don’t want a hug’. How can a scared person like him, not want a hug? Were hugs really not a cure for fear? Did...did Logan lie to him?
Patton, feeling hurt by the rejection, slowly let Virgil go. Virgil let himself breathe properly and hugged himself with his hands to lessen the soreness that came with the tight hug. The robot had a good mindset, but...his body was not built for hugs. Virgil turned around and quickly backed away from him.
“What’s wrong? You still seem scared.” Patton asked.
“I-” was all Virgil got out of his mouth before he shut his mouth again. How would Patton take being called ‘scary’? Would he feel rejected? Would he walk away in anger? Or...would he take it like it was no big deal? Virgil didn’t wanna risk the former options. “I am.” Virgil admitted.
Patton walked up to Virgil and was about to hug him, but...he remembered what Virgil yelled earlier and instead, placed his hands onto Virgil’s shoulders.
“It’s gonna be okay. You’re a big boy. Big boys are strong.” Patton told him.
Virgil was...speechless to say the least. He didn’t know how to react at first. So, he looked down and slightly smiled in embarrassment from the childish words. You could tell the robot was trying his best. But the robot was made for kids: Hence, it was going to talk to Virgil like a child whether he looked like one or not.
“There’s a small smile. But can I get a bigger one?” Patton asked. Virgil looked up at the robot and dropped his smile. He was still worried that the robot was gonna kill him. This was just the programming trying to trick him into being happy. It had to be! There had to be a reason these robots were placed aside. Virgil believed it was because of murderous tendencies.
Virgil shook his head and tried to look away. Patton wouldn’t take it though. The left robotic hand came up and tried to bring his head towards him. But Virgil pushed it away. Weirdly enough, Patton didn’t look at this action as a rejection. Instead, Patton believed the child was just being stubborn. So, Patton slowly began smiling and tried moving Virgil’s face towards Patton’s general eye direction. Virgil pushed it away, and tried looking away on the right side this time. Patton transitioned itself and tried cupping his cheek. “Come on kiddo.” Patton begged. “Just a little more of a smile?” Patton begged.
Virgil pushed Patton’s hand away one last time and turned his back towards Patton to signal his displeasure. This form of signal did move Patton up to the next level of help, but it didn’t stop the robot from wanting a smile from him. So, Patton looked down at Virgil’s sides and smiled widely.
“Maybe I can help you smile…” Patton offered. Virgil lifted his head slightly.
“........How?” Virgil asked, turning his head around a little to slightly look at Patton from the corner of his eye.
Patton’s smile widened slightly as he lifted his robotic fingers towards Virgil. The robotic hands managed to get around Virgil’s sides before Virgil pushed away and turned back around to face him with a frown. “I said no hugs.” Virgil told the robot.
Patton paused, and folded his fingers together in front of him. “It’s not a hug.” Patton told him. Then, Patton unfolded his fingers, and slowly reached his hands out to Virgil’s side. When they reached close enough, Patton poked Virgil’s side as a test.
“AH! What-...What are you doing?” Virgil asked, growing annoyed that Patton wouldn’t leave him alone. Next, Patton poked and wiggled a finger on Virgil’s other side. “AH-Hehehe! Don’t poke me!” Virgil warned, attempting to slap the hands away.
Quickly, Patton went into full-on action mode and started poking and wiggling his fingers everywhere he could reach. “AAH! NO! NOhohohoho! Thahahahat tihihihicklehes! Hahahahahahaha!” Virgil giggled, wiggling and turning as a huge wobbly smile spread onto his face.
“Kitchy-kitchy-kitchy-koo! Is someone ticklish?” Patton asked, poking and wiggling his fingers on his sides.
“Yehehehehes!” Virgil replied.
“That’s perfect! Tickle tickle tickle tickle tickle!” Patton reacted.
“Ihihihi’m smilihihihing! Seehehehehehehe?” Virgil told the robot, showing off a wobbly, but genuinely wide smile.
“Oh I see it! But your laugh is so cute to listen to! I can’t stop now!” Patton told him. As Virgil pushed one of the hands away, his back turned to Patton.
As soon as the robot got the free opportunity, Patton wrapped his arms around Virgil and tried tickling his belly.
Virgil just about exploded! “AAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! PAHAHAHATTOHOHOHON!” Virgil laughed hard, practically toppling backwards onto the robot. Patton successfully caught the man and just resumed tickling the heck out of him. “CUHUHUHUT IHIHIHIT OHOHOHOHOUHUT!” Virgil begged.
“Who’s got a ticklish belly? Who’s got a squishy belly? Our night guard does! Who’s the most ticklish little night guard in the whole world? This boy!” Patton teased.
Though the teases were childish and a little mediocre, they certainly made Virgil’s face grow red. The robot was weakening the man and treating him like a little child! Virgil couldn’t tell if this was completely unfair, or if this was surprisingly fun. All Virgil knew was the more that Patton tickled him, the more true the latter option became. The man was growing to love being tickled like this!
Suddenly, Patton stopped. “There. I think I got a good taste of your laugh and smile.” Patton decided. He placed his arms under Virgil's armpits and attempted to lift him up. But Virgil squealed and pulled his arms against his chest. “Ticklish armpits too? Goodness kiddo!” Patton cooed before tickling his armpits. “You’re starting to look like a walking tickle spot!” Patton reacted.
“NOOOOHOHOHOHOHOHO! *snort* TOOOHOHO TIHIHICKLIHIHIHIHIHISH!” Virgil shouted, mentally cursing at himself for snorting.
“Oh my goodness! You’re a snort laugher! That’s soooo cute! Do it again!” Patton said excitedly.
The robot dug its fingers into Virgil’s armpits a little deeper, and managed to completely nail it! “BAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! *snort* DOHOHOHOHOHON’T! *snort* TOHOHOHO-*snort* TOOHOHOHO MUHUHUHUHUHUCH!” Virgil snorted and laughed like a mad man.
“Is de night guard too ticklish? Is dis night guard a tickwish wittle piggy?” Patton cooed.
“LEHEHEHEHET MEHEHEHEHEHE GOOOHOHOHOHOHO!” Virgil begged.
“Well gee; I did plan to let you go earlier, but that was before I discovered you could snort! Now I don’t wanna stop! I wanna hear it forever, and ever, and ever!” Patton declared.
Virgil felt like he was gonna die! He was too ticklish for this!
Thankfully, Virgil’s eyes fell onto the sword fighting twins Roman and Remus. He reached his arm out to them without a second thought. “HEHEHEHELP-”
Virgil let out a sudden, high-pitched scream as his exposed armpit was tickled again. “Big mistake, night guard...Now I can tickle AAAAALL of your armpit! And not even your bear trap arms can save you!” Patton warned threateningly.
Virgil threw his head back and WAILED! “WAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!” Virgil screamed, kicking his feet as he utterly lost his sanity from the super strong tickles.
Remus bursted out laughing at the sight. “I THOUGHT YOU JUST TICKLE KIDS?! HAHAHAHAHA! SINCE WHEN DID THE NIGHT GUARD COUNT?!” Remus asked, leaning against the door.
“Shhhhh! Listen…” Roman told his brother, placing an arm in front of him so he could shut Remus’s mouth and listen to Virgil laugh.
“Hey Twinsies! You wanna come over and help me out?” Patton asked.
Virgil gasped and looked towards the twins with horror and exhaustion. Did he just ask Roman and Remus to...HELP TICKLE HIM?! Having one robot professionally tickling him was bad enough. But 3?! HELL NO!
“WAHAHAHAIT! PLEHEHEHEASE! PLEHEHEHEHEASE HEHEHEHELP MEHEHEHEHE!” Virgil begged.
Remus giggled evilly. “Please help tickle you?! Wow! We really lucked out on this guy!” Remus reacted, immediately running over to help.
“Wait up! I wanna try his feet!” Roman yelled ahead.
Virgil gulped in horror. If there was one thing Virgil was aware of, it was that he was fucked. Utterly fucked.
Roman ran to the left shoe and started untying the shoe laces. Remus ran up to Virgil’s head and lifted up his arm. “I’m getting his armpits!” Remus announced.
Virgil yelped and tried to move the arms as far away from Remus as possible. But Remus had a hunch that he would do this. So, he tickled Virgil’s neck in retaliation. Virgil squealed and instinctively threw his arms up to save his exposed neck. But Remus stopped and grabbed the wrists successfully. “I gotcha, ya little shit.” Remus declared with a smirk. He lifted one of the arms up and left the other arm free. With the armpit completely exposed, Remus scratched and wiggled his fingers all over the one armpit.
“EEEEEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHAHAHAHAHAHA! *snort* REHEHEHEHEMUHUHUHUHUS!” Virgil laughed hysterically.
“Yeeeeeeessss?” Remus replied.
“STAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAP!” Virgil begged.
“No one else is even tickling you yet! Roman is still trying to get the other shoe off, and Patton is taking a break!” Remus argued.
“NOHOHOHOHOHO AHAHAHAHARMPIHIHIHIHIHIHITS! TOOHOHOHOHO TIHIHIHIHICKLIHIHIHIHISH!” Virgil screamed.
“‘No armpits...too ticklish’...Wow...Wonderful grammar!” Remus teased.
“FUHUHUHUHUHUCK YOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOU!” Virgil spat at him.
“Awwww! How nice! Fuck you too!” Remus cooed innocently.
GOD...Remus was BRUTAL! Not only was he a swearing sailor, he was a BRUTAL TICKLER! And Remus thought PATTON was bad…
Roman had finally gotten the shoes off Virgil’s feet, and had started wiggling his fingers on both feet at once.
“OHOHOHOHO GEEEEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEZ! *snort* HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! *snort* ROHOHOHOHOHOHO-*snort*-HIHIHIHAHAHAHA!” Virgil screamed.
“Hi! Welcome to ticklish feet with Roman! This episode is brought to you by the letter ‘C’. And what does ‘C’ stand for? ‘C’ stands for Coochy-coochy-coochy-coochy-coo!” Roman teased like an announcer.
Virgil squealed and just laughed like the world depended on it. His legs were weakly pulling and struggling to get his feet away, and his one arm was still stuck in the air thanks to Remus’s hand. Remus’s other hand was tickling every micro-inch of skin on his armpit while Virgil’s free hand was clutching his stomach.
Suddenly, Roman and Remus removed their hands, and looked over to Patton. Virgil believed the sadistic robots were done for good.
But all potential hope was thrown out the window when a loud, strong raspberry was blown right onto his belly!
“hahAHAHAHAHAHAhahaha...hehehe...heheh...ohoho gohosh...okahay...a-are you...done?” Virgil asked.
“Yup, we’re done.” Patton replied.
Roman and Remus both let out a sad and disappointed ‘Awwww’. “I didn’t get to tickle him for very long…” Roman whined.
“Me neither.” Remus grumbled, crossing his arms and pouting.
“Humans need to breathe. They have lungs that get tired.” Patton told them.
Virgil happily took in as much breath as he could to make up for the loss of oxygen. He was unbelievably thankful that Patton could stop them so easily. If it weren’t for Patton, Virgil would’ve passed out from lightheadedness.
Something told Virgil they had sketchy intentions. But considering the fact that Patton had chosen to tickle him instead of killing him, showed Virgil a lot;
These robots didn’t exactly go rogue. These robots were originally made for children, and it seems like the robots still have the hearts for entertainment. The robots were just rusty and partly broken.
Maybe with a little love and some slight reprogramming, these robots could go back to entertaining children and serving up smiles and laughs again.
Though, maybe the tickle attacks should have an off switch at certain times. If it weren’t for his adult-sized lungs, he probably would’ve died…
Or maybe he was overreacting...who knows?
It's a little short, but I'm really proud of this fanfiction. Thanks for reading!
Hit
For the many people who requested #12. Finally a long one I’ve slowly been working on forever.
12- I feel sick, so anxious and sick and like my heart is trying to beat it’s way out of my chest
TW- slight panic attack, blood, injury, hurt
“This better be a good game” Logan said as he tossed popcorn into his mouth.
“It obviously will be. It’s the Snakes.” Kacey shook his head and looked at him like he was stupid.
“Everyone shut up it’s on” Talker shushed them, even though they all knew they would start talking about the game in a matter of seconds.
“Are you going to be okay watching this?” Remus whispered to Sirius.
“Yeah. I’ll be fine, amour” Sirius smiled at him. Regulus and the Snakes had been taking jabs at Sirius and the Lions every chance they got.
Remus nodded and cut into the argument between James and Olli.
***
Everyone was on the edge of their seats watching the game intensely. It was a gruesome game, both teams hitting hard. The game was tied 2-2.
Sirius was beside Remus, elbow on his leg, one of them bouncing. He had his hand in a fist in front of his mouth. Remus was rubbing his neck lightly.
Everyone reacted as a fight broke out, all the players on the ice joined in. It took the refs a few minutes to separate them.
When everyone was out of the pile of players. There was still someone laying on the ice. Sirius sucked in a breath. Regulus. Refs surrounded him, waving over medics.
No one was able to see what exactly was wrong or what had happened, but they could tell that it was bad.
The medics were too frantic for it to be a simple knock out. And the blood, there was so much. Too much. It cut to commercial as the audience started screaming.
“Oh god” Sirius gasped and stood up, hurrying up the stairs. Remus followed him up.
“Hey, can you open the door please. It’s just me” He asked quietly as he knocked.
“Sirius come on” he said again when there was no response. He could hear Sirius pacing. The footsteps got closer and clicked the lock open.
“Hey, come here” Remus said softly, stopping Sirius’s pacing and letting him fall into his arms.
“I don’t know why it’s scaring me. He doesn’t care about me so why do I care about-“
“Stop, stop.” Remus said firmly.
“He’s your little brother. You’re allowed to care about him.”
“He’s going to be okay, right? You’re kind of like a medic. You saw the hit, do you know if he’s going to be okay?” Sirius looked at him, his eyes hopeful and scared.
“I don’t-I don’t know, okay?” Sirius deflates. “I couldn’t see it really, there was a lot of blood but you couldn’t see where it was from. Some injuries bleed more than others do.” Remus tried to comfort his shaking boyfriend.
But he really didn’t know. From what he saw it was bad, really, really bad. He wasn’t going to tell Sirius that right now, maybe later but right now he didn’t want to stress him out more.
Sirius pulled back and wiped his eyes minutes later “We should go back down, they might talk about how he is.”
“Are you sure? We can watch up here if you don’t want to be around everyone.” Remus asked.
“Yeah, I’m sure. I’ll be okay.” Sirius nodded.
The team didn’t stare for too long when they walked back down. Just a glance and then back to the TV, even though it was a stupid commercial. Remus laid in the spot they were in before, this time pulling Sirius onto him. He kissed the top of his head and tucked it under his chin, fingers running through the slightly curly hair.
“Commercials have been playing since the hit” James told them.
Sirius tensed slightly, that couldn’t be good. Yeah commercials were long but not that long. After a few more commercials it cut back to the announcers.
“Welcome back folks” they said somberly. “As you saw, Regulus Black took a hard hit in the middle of a fight. Now the next few clips might be a little gruesome so viewer discretion is advised.”
That couldn’t be good.
The screen showed the fight, Regulus shaking over and trying to separate them, unlike his teammates who were egging it on. He was shouting something that couldn’t be heard before a hand hit across his helmet, knocking him to the ground. They showed the bottom half of the fight, clump of skates and padding. Regulus was obvious in his green jersey, caught in the cross fire of skates.
Sirius turned his face into Remus’s neck, unable to watch anymore.
Remus rubbed his back, trying to sooth him.
He couldn’t see much of what was happening before the fight was broken up, and you were able to tell where the blood was coming from. His arm, but apparently it was too gruesome to show on TV, it was blurred out.
“Hey, it’s his arm, okay? It’s just his arm.” Remus whispered.
“How bad?” He asked, his voice gravely and tight.
“I don’t- I don’t know. They, uhh, they blurred it out”
Sirius tensed even more, just nodded and kept his head buried safely in Remus’s neck. Letting it act as a barrier between the things he was scared to know and the comforting smell and feeling of his boyfriend.
The team glanced at them sadly, Lily reached over and patted Remus’s thigh. He smiled sadly at her.
“Are they continuing the game?” Sirius asked, lifting his head the slightest bit. His voice still tight.
“Yeah, I think so” Dumo answered.
Right on cue the game started up again. The ice was cleaned as well as it could be for right now. A section of ice stained red.
The rest of the game was quick, the Snakes didn’t slow down even when the Flyers did. They won 4-2.
At the end of the game they gave an update on Regulus. He was at the hospital, in surgery, in extremely critical condition.
Sirius clung to Remus, his fist clenching Remus’s shirt as he shook his head as if it would get the words out of his mind.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. I’m sure he’s going to be okay” Remus tried hard to comfort him. But he wasn’t listening. A broken sob escaped, breaking everyone’s hearts.
The team trickled out until it was just Sirius and Remus.
“Do you want to go up to bed love?” Remus asked, getting a nod in response as he sat up and walked upstairs.
Remus helped him change out of the black jeans and t-shirt he was wearing into sweatpants.
“I love you” he kissed him softly, holding him against his body.
“I love you too” Sirius muttered back.
They climbed into bed, the bedroom silent and swimming in darkness before Sirius spoke.
“What if he dies” his voice smaller than Remus had ever heard.
“He’s going to be okay. He is. But if he isn’t, you have me, the team, James, Harry. All of us. I don’t know what’s going to happen but you will always have us no matter what. I know it will hurt if it does happen, but I can’t have you going back to the way you were before. I need you to talk to me or the team or Heather or someone. You can’t bottle this up and have it shut you down.”
Sirius nodded “Okay” he whispered.
A sob escaped, Sirius covered his mouth with his hand and tried to stop any more.
“Don’t do that. It’s okay. It’s just me, you can let it out.”
Sirius flung himself onto Remus, sobbing.
Remus doesn’t know how long Sirius cried for, but finally he quieted, taking a hiccuped breath. “Love you” he managed to mutter before exhaustion pulled him under.
“I love you too” Remus kissed his hair, drifting off to sleep himself.
***
Sirius didn’t wake up till late into the day. Remus stayed in bed, only leaving to get something to eat. He wanted to be there for Sirius when the memories of last night came back.
Sirius stirred in his sleep, blinking his eyes open.
Remus put his laptop on the nightstand and brushed his fingers through Sirius’s slightly sweaty hair. “Good morning baby”
Sirius hummed before sitting up quickly. “Reg”
“I’ve been checking all day, there’s no update on him yet.”
“Is that good or bad” Sirius asked.
“I don’t know. But we would know if he was-“ Remus trailed off.
“Dead?” Sirius finished for him.
“Yeah” Remus sighed.
Sirius nodded and moved away from him.
“Hey, remember what I said last night? You can’t push us away. You can’t shut down again.”
“I know- I just. I feel sick, so anxious and sick and like my heart is trying to beat it’s way out of my chest.” He confessed.
“Baby” Remus breathed, pulling him into his chest. “I’m so sorry. Is there anything I can do to help you?”
“Hold me” Sirius whispered.
Remus nodded and laid down, holding Sirius tight.
Sirius fell asleep again, still tired from staying up last night and crying for so long.
Remus’s phone vibrated while he was asleep. Remus reached over carefully and answered it without checking the caller ID.
“Remus” James voice came through. “Did you see the news”
Remus went to sit up but then remembered the sleeping boy in his arms.
“No, what happened.” He asked not even trying to hide the worry in his voice.
“Regulus is out of surgery” Remus let out a breath, his body relaxing.
“But the damage to his nerves was too bad. They- they had to amputate.”
Remus sucked in another breath. “God”
“Yeah. Is, umm, does he know?”
“No, he’s asleep right now. I’ll tell him when he wakes up.”
“D'accord. Give him our love”
“I will” Remus hung up as Sirius began to stir.
“Hey, who was on the phone?” He asked, still tired but his voice held worry.
“James, Umm.” Sirius tensed, his eyes wide with fear.
“No, no, no. He’s alive” Remus reassured him quickly.
Sirius relaxed a little.
“But they, uh, they had to amputate his arm”
Sirius sat up. “What?”
“I’m sorry. I don’t know. But the nerve damage was too much. I haven’t read anything on it yet but that’s just what James told me.”
“Will he be able to play, if he gets a prosthetic, is that even allowed in the NHL”
“I don’t- I don’t know. He would still be able to play with a prosthetic but I don’t know about the NHL”
“Our parents...” he trailed off.
“I know, I’m sorry. What do you think they’ll do?”
“Disown him. If he can’t play anymore he’s no good to them”
Remus nodded.
Sirius’s phone was ringing and pinging with texts. “Probably the team” he muttered.
“Yeah, probably”
“I don’t- I don’t want to talk to them right now. I’ll talk later but not right now.”
Remus pecked his lips and reached over to turn his ringer off. “Umm, baby?”
“What?” Sirius looked up at him.
“Regulus is calling you.”
Sirius grabbed his phone out of Remus’s hands and quickly answered the phone. Putting it on speaker.
“I’m alive, chienne” A familiar voice announced.
“Jesus Reg, we haven’t spoken in years and that’s the first thing you say to me.” Sirius laughed, he moved around to the other side of the bed so he could rest his back against Remus’s chest as Remus leaned against the headboard. Remus kisses his neck and shoulder.
“Yeah. Umm, about that. I’m really, really sorry about... all of that. I-the Snakes, our parents. They’re awful. They wouldn’t let me talk to you or anyone. I had to say all that awful stuff about you. God I wanted to punch every damn player in the locker room for the shit they said about you. I, they just. I’m so sorry.” Regulus rushes out.
“Hey, it’s okay. I kind of figured. Or hoped at least.”
“I really want you to know that I don’t care that you’re gay. I don’t know if Remus is listening or there or whatever but you seem happier then I’ve ever seen you when you’re with him.”
“I am, I really, really am” Sirius smiled. “And yes he is listening.”
Regulus let out a laugh.
“So, how are you with...” Sirius trailed off.
“Loosing my arm and possibly ending my hockey career?”
“Yeah, that”
“I don’t know. Mom and Dad won’t talk to me. No one from the family will. Well, Andromeda called me but she was disowned so it doesn’t really count”
“Andy? Why was she disowned?”
“Married a girl” You could hear the smirk in his voice.
Sirius barked out a laugh. “Not surprising honestly. Good to know there’s more of me”
“True. Oh and get this, better prepare the puke. Sissy’s marrying Malfoy”
“WHAT” Sirius no less than screamed. “Narcissa?”
“Yep” he popped the ‘p’.
“No” Sirius whined. “I had hope for her.”
“So did I. But at least she doesn’t seem that happy about it. It’s more of a bloodline thing”
“I don’t want to be related to Lucius”
“Neither do I”
“What about Bellatrix?”
“Rudolph Lestrange.”
Sirius groaned again.
“What is up with the names in your family” Remus laughed quietly.
“Stars. All names of constellation.” Sirius explained.
“The Black family will be as old as the stars. Never let the bloodline down. Generations and generations of powerful leaders are in your blood. Traitors to the DNA are not true Blacks. Keep the stars alive, at all costs.” Regulus and Sirius said at the same time.
“What?”
“We said that like a prayer. Every night. What I would give to forget it” Sirius groaned. Remus kissed his cheek.
“Besides our fucked up family, how else are you feeling?” He asked, the playfulness leaving his voice.
“I don’t know. I don’t think it’s really set in yet but I’m getting fitted or whatever for a prosthetic as soon as my stitches are out. A bunch of high school students are working on a design I can use for hockey. They’re having some contest or something like that”
“That’s cool” Sirius told him. “NHL going to te laisse jouer” Sirius switched to french subconsciously.
“I don’t know yet. They’re having a meeting about it I think. The Snakes don’t want me anymore, they made that very clear.”
“I’m sorry”
“Oh no don’t be at all, I hate that fucking team anyway.” Regulus said quickly.
“I’m sure teams will be fighting over you” Sirius smiled.
“Maybe. But let’s not talk about it anymore, how are you?”
“I’m good. You fucking terrified me last night. God Reg I thought you were going to die.” Sirius breathed out shakily.
“I’m okay though. That’s what matters.”
“Yeah, yeah I know” Sirius nodded.
Remus held him tighter, pressing a kiss behind his ear as he remembered Sirius falling apart in his arms.
“How are you and Remus?”
“We’re really good. I love him and, yeah” Sirius blushes, playing with his necklace.
“Awww” Reg teased.
“Oh tais-toi”
Regulus laughed. “I’m not lying when I say I’m happy for you. Remus, just know that if I’ll hurt him I’ll kill you. Prosthetics are metal, tu sais”
“Stop it” Sirius scoffed.
“I promise I will never hurt him. I love him more than anything” Remus assured him, turning Sirius’s chin so he could kiss him.
“I love you too” Sirius told him.
“Awwww wittle Siri in wove”Regulus ruined the moment.
“Je te deteste” Sirius groaned.
“You love me” Regulus laughed.
“Sadly”
“Rude”
The brothers bantered back and forth like nothing had ever happened.
“Alright I’ve got to go get more needles poked into my skin but we’ll talk later, ouais?”
“Absolument”
“Bye, love you” Regulus said.
“Love you too” Sirius told him before Regulus hung up.
“I’m so fucking happy for you right now” Remus squeezed him tightly.
“Me too” Sirius smiled widely. “God I’m so happy”
Remus felt like crying, all he wanted was for Sirius to be happy in life and he finally was.
Sirius was crying, a tear fell down his cheek.
“Hey hey what’s wrong?” Remus picked him up and turned him so he was straddling his waist. “What’s wrong, love?”
“Nothing. I- I never thought I could have this, you know. Never thought I would be allowed to love who I wanted, much less have someone who loved me back. I have the most supportive team I could ever hope for, they’re more of a family then my actual family is. Reg doesn’t hate me- never hated me. I never thought I would ever be able to have this” he confessed, tears slowly falling down his face.
Remus kissed them away. “And you deserve all of it. Everything you’ve been through, you deserve the world baby.”
“Good thing I have it” Sirius smiled as he cupped Remus’s face.
“God that was cheesy.” Remus scoffed with a smile.
“It was wasn’t it?” Sirius laughed, kissed Remus’s lips slowly. Safe in the feeling of his arms on his waist, hair tangled in his fingers, soft lips on his. It was him and it was home.
He was lost in the feeling of it before Remus pulled away. Resting their foreheads together.
“I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” Sirius whispered. “I want to adopt a couple of kids, let them run around the house and take them to family skate. I can’t imagine my future without you. I love you more than I can explain. Every time I think about how much I love you it’s like I can’t breath.”
“God, yes. I want that more than anything.” Remus captured his lips in his. Both of them smiling into the kiss.
Once upon a time, there were seven cousins born of four siblings. The oldest sister and her husband had twins and named them Roman and Remus. The second oldest sister and her partners had a child and named him Alec. The youngest sister had one child and named him Patton. And their brother, the youngest of them all, had three children named Logan, Janus, and Virgil.
00:16:02:32 until Christmas Day, 7:58 AM
Logan, the oldest cousin, was leaning against the kitchen counter holding a fresh cup of coffee in one hand and rubbing his right temple with the other. He blinked against the early morning sun of Christmas Eve streaming in.
“You’re up early!”
Logan jumped at the movement to his right and found his aunt looking at him.
“Good morning, Aunt Mel. I made coffee.”
“Bless ya, kid,” she said, turning toward the machine. When she came back around to grab the sugar, he was gone.
00:13:25:17 until Christmas Day, 10:35 AM
“Who took the last piece of bacon?!”
Roman froze in his spot on the floor in front of the T.V. If he were just very, very still, maybe-
“J’accuse!” Remus shouted from the kitchen door over the sounds of chatter and clinking kitchenware. Roman spun around to see Remus pointing at him menacingly.
“You already had some!” Roman yelled back, pulling his plate close. Remus, not breaking eye contact even once, methodically kicked off his flip flops and set his plate gently on top of a bookshelf. He crouched a little and rolled his shoulders.
“Remus, no, my juice, Remus! NOOO-”
00:13:23:03 until Christmas Day, 10:37 AM
From his cozy spot beneath the sheets in the spare bedroom, Virgil heard a scream and a thump. And then several more thumps. He blinked and stretched, smooshing his face into the pillow. For one precious moment, he imagined he could go back to sleep but the dream was pierced by Aunt Patty’s shrill voice scolding someone down the hall.
He shoved himself up on his elbows and sent a hostile glare at the general brightness of the room. Things quieted down but it was too late - he was up. He stretched for several more minutes before finally straightening his clothes and stumbling out to follow the smell of breakfast.
00:12:40:54 until Christmas Day, 11:20 AM
Virgil shuffled past the subdued twins in the living room and into the kitchen, stopping at the door as his brain tried to process what was happening. His younger cousin, Patton, was furtively opening and closing all the cabinets, searching each and every one. Apparently he found what he was looking for, because he started chuckling to himself and reached behind some cups to pull out a huge plastic bag of cookies. He opened it and spun around on his socks, walking headlong into Virgil.
“Ah!” Patton nearly dropped the bag, and a couple cookies fell out onto the floor. Virgil laughed as they picked them up together.
“Whatcha doing, Pat?”
Patton waved him close, whispering.
“My mom keeps hiding the cookies. She said if I keep eating ‘em she’s gonna have to make more for tomorrow. That sounds like a win-win to me!” He took the floor cookie from Virgil and pocketed it. They took turns peering into the dining room where the older folks were talking.
“You do you, cuz.” They bumped fists and Virgil scooped some cold leftover eggs onto a paper plate to take with him to the living room. Remus shoved past him coming back into the kitchen.
Whatever Remus had planned to do in here was lost when he spotted Pat.
“Oo! Cookies!”
00:11:22:49 until Christmas Day, 12:38 PM
“What exactly are we watching, Roman?” asked Patton, popping a couple Tums into his mouth and flopping down into a recliner. Roman was still planted in the middle of the living room floor, but now Virgil was keeping him company, fast asleep on the couch with an empty plate in his lap. Roman didn’t look away from the screen.
“A Christmas Prince. It’s about a journalist that falls in love with the prince of a whole Christmas-themed country! And the bad guy’s not too bad lookin’ either.” Roman squeezed a pillow to his chest.
“Oh, right, I thought it looked familiar! Did you watch Jenny Nicholson’s breakdown of it?”
“Who?”
Patton smiled at the look of wonder on Roman’s face as he followed the characters on screen. At the silence, Roman turned around to look at him, distracted but curious. Patton waved him off.
“Never mind.” Better not to spoil it.
00:07:12:24 until Christmas Day, 16:47 PM
“Dinner tiiime!” Aunt Patty peeked into the living room. “It’s all ready, you guys hungry?”
“Yisss!” Patton launched himself out of the recliner with Virgil following slowly behind. Roman tore his eyes away from the current Hallmark movie with great effort, checking his phone messages.
Aunt Mel was in the kitchen with their little cousin Alec. Just as they passed through he let up a screech, making them all jump. Roman’s phone went flying.
“AAAAA DON’T WANNA WASH I’M STILL PLAYING!”
“AH, sweet Jesus,” Roman clutched his chest dramatically as the rest started laughing.
“Alright, keep it together, ya hooligans,” Aunt Mel teased them. “Alec, I’ve had too much wine today for you to be screaming at the water. You told me yesterday you love playing with the water-”
Auntie continued to help Alec wash his hands and the cousins tumbled into the dining room where Logan and the grandparents were already gathering. Logan braced at the incoming chaos.
“What happened to you?” He asked them.
“Didn’t you hear Alec screaming?” Virgil deadpanned.
“Oh,” Logan straightened his glasses. “Yes, that.”
The rest of the family came up from the basement talking heatedly about the Saints and the Vikings. Who was winning or losing at that particular moment was unclear, but dinner would proceed regardless.
00:04:47:19 until Christmas Day, 19:13 PM
“Defuse!” Remus slammed a card down onto the table. “Whew, that was close. I almost exploded in a fiery, kitten-y death!”
“Boom!” Alec cheered. Nearly the whole family was gathered around the kitchen-table-turned-game-table, even the grandparents and great grandma, Maman. Aunt Patty and Uncle Mitch were downstairs watching the end of the football game, and Titi was just a few feet away putting a new batch of sugar cookies in the oven. She shot a good-natured stare at Patton.
“Sorry, mooom,” “Sorry, Titiii” he and Remus chorused. “Patton tricked me!”
“Hey!”
“That’s okay, you two can help me decorate these later as punishment. Remus,” Titi pointed to the person beside him. “Help Maman with her turn, remember?”
“Oh, yeah!” Remus leaned over the centenarian. “You got any actions, Maman?”
“Quel est ce dessin?” She held her cards up to him and pointed.
“That’s a cat dressed as a taco, Maman. C’est un mème.”
While the game continued around the table, Virgil watched Logan discreetly. Sitting to his left, something was wrong with his oldest brother. He wasn’t sure what yet, but it was definitely… something.
“Nope!” Logan put a card down over Uncle Jim’s attack. Aunt Mel went next, then she helped Alec with his turn, and then, there it was; Logan’s brow furrowed ever so slightly. His eyes flitted back and forth between the players and the cards. He stared at their faces, but not quite at eye level. Patton’s, Roman’s, Grandma’s turns all passed the same - he was concentrating so hard. Why?
“Virgil?” Grandpa nudged him out of his speculation. “It’s your turn.”
Logan was staring at him expectantly.
“Oh.” Virgil glanced at two mismatched cats and drew. An exploding kitten. He was dead. “You’re turn, Lo.”
Logan spent a second longer waiting to see if Virgil was done, and then played his own cards. As they both watched Remus go next, Virgil leaned in closer.
“What is up with you?” He whispered. Logan didn’t take his eyes off Remus’ cards.
“Hey!” He kept whispering, jabbing Logan in the ribs.
“Ow!” Logan yelped, then lowering his voice. “What?”
“I asked you a question, don’t act like you can’t hear me.”
Logan squinted at him, then his face shifted. He looked stricken.
“I’m playing “See The Future”,” someone said. “Hand me the deck.”
00:04:22:44 until Christmas Day, 19:38 PM
VIRGE: what happened?
A new round had started and Virgil hoped that switching to text would let them continue their argu- debate without distracting the rest of the family.
BIG BRO: Nothing
VIRGE: bullshit
Logan ignored his phone, watching the game progress counter-clockwise this time. Virgil did not accept this strategy.
VIRGE: !
VIRGE: !
VIRGE: !
VIRGE: !
VIRGE: !
VIRGE: !
BIG BRO: Stop
VIRGE: tell the truth.
BIG BRO: (Seen)
They paused to take their turns, and when Virgil picked his phone back up, Logan was already typing. He tried to be patient, but the energy was clear in the way his foot tapped the ground.
BIG BRO: It seems my hearing has not entirely recovered since that explosion during chem lab a couple months ago. I’ve got tinnitus in my right ear. It is quite difficult to pick up sounds over the ringing when they’re coming from that direction.
BIG BRO: Or sometimes from any direction. So, I’m concentrating a little more. That’s all.
Virgil glanced between the texts and Logan several times, Logan staring with seemingly great intent at his cards.
VIRGE: THATS ALL?
BIG BRO: Calm down, it’s not a big deal.
VIRGE: have you been to a doctor?
Logan stopped to play another “Nope” card. Virgil was ready to scream at the delay. The chatter at the table seemed louder to him now and much, much different.
BIG BRO: Yes. And I’ve done plenty of my own research. There’s not much to be done unless I want to get surgery or start wearing hearing aids.
VIRGE: so wear hearing aids until you decide about the surgery
BIG BRO: They’re expensive, Virgil.
VIRGE: dads insrance must cover some of it and ive got some extra money
BIG BRO: No. Thank you. That money’s yours. You worked hard for it.
VIRGE: your e taking it
BIG BRO: That’s not the problem.
VIRGE: then what is.?
BIG BRO: (Seen)
VIRGE: why won’t you make it easier on yourself? you know none of us will care if you wear one. the explosion wasn’t even your fault, it was that other kid
Virgil sent the text and looked at Logan, waiting. Remus was nearly finished with his turn; Logan was next. The turns passed, but Logan didn’t pick his phone back up from the table.
VIRGE: why
Logan glanced at the text preview when it came up on the screen, still not moving.
VIRGE: i know you can see this
VIRGE: why
VIRGE: why
VIRGE: why
“Because!” Logan shouted, slapping his cards down. Everyone fell into a stunned quiet.
“Are you guys cheating? Mom says cheating is wrong.” Alec’s voice broke the silence a second later. Virgil stuck his tongue out at him.
“I assure you we are not cheating,” Logan smiled at Alec. “Virgil’s just being a pest.”
The game resumed, Patton taking an absurd amount of actions before drawing another Beard Cat card. Was it even legal to have that many cards?
Virgil leaned back in his chair, tired from the stress. His phone buzzed.
BIG BRO: This is my last semester. I’ll get one after graduation.
00:00:41:12 until Christmas Day, 23:19 PM
Roman carried two mugs of coffee into the living room as back-to-back commercials for 24 Hours of A Christmas Story played on the T.V. He handed one to Virgil and got back under the throw blanket.
“Thanks.”
“Whatcha doing?” Roman peered at Virgil’s laptop. There were at least a dozen tabs open. The current screen showed some kind of fancy earpods.
“Just killin’ time.” Virgil opened yet another tab.
“Yeah, it’s a bummer Janus picked a college so far away. But the train’s due in a few minutes! Then it’ll be officially Christmas.”
“I mean, he still has to, like, get here from the station.”
“Whatever,” shrugged Roman. He flipped through the channels. All commercials. He settled back on the Hallmark channel, laying down and closing his eyes while they waited for the latest must-have-product ads to end.
“Remember when we played dress up together?” Roman mused. “Mom taped all those toilet paper rolls together so we could have swords and we all fought over the two paper crowns from Burger King? Do they still make those?”
“I have no idea,” Virgil laughed. “That was so long ago, how do you even remember that?”
“Because I was a fabulous ruler! The kingdom prospered unendingly under my leadership!” Roman flung his free arm wide, not bothering to open his eyes. “It was glorious!”
“All you did was declare free love-”
“An important doctrine!” Roman jabbed at the air once before letting his arm flop back down and graze the carpet. “All Janus did was universally pardon thieves and liars, was that so much better?”
“Well, I was playing a thief. Maybe I’m biased.”
“You would…” Roman muttered. He didn’t finish the thought.
“Roman?”
A little snort was the only response. Roman was fast asleep, coffee untouched and the remote resting by his head.
00:00:00:03 until Christmas Day, 23:59 PM
00:00:00:02...
00:00:00:01...
'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Virgil was stirring; he snuck like a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
in hopes that his brother soon would be there.
Christmas Day, 01:23 AM
“Wake up!”
Roman gasped. Someone was shoving him into the couch cushions.
“He’s here!” Virgil bounced on his shoulder again, almost knocking the laptop to the ground.
“Okay! Jeez, I’m up. I’m up!”
Virgil was already gone, shoving his boots on while a taxi drove away outside leaving two figures in the darkness with their bags. By the time Roman was on his feet, Janus was shouldering through the door with a backpack and giant suitcase, a cute boy following just behind.
“What is up, king?” Roman and Janus clasped hands and half hugged. “Who’s this?”
“Oh, you know.” Janus shrugged off the bag. “This is my boyfriend. Nico, this is my cousin, Roman.”
Nico stifled a yawn and waved. “Pleasure to meet you, Roman!” Virgil came in setting down two more bags and nudged Janus.
“I thought we all agreed not to bring dates again after what happened last-”
“Oh, sweetheart, you must be exhausted!” Roman interrupted as he picked up one of the bags. “I’ll show you where you’re sleeping.”
“Thank you so much, our stuff took forever to load off the train.” Nico started to follow him.
“Hands to yourself, Ro,” Janus hissed after them. “I like this one.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Roman grinned, disappearing around the corner into the hallway. Nico hesitated.
“What…?”
Janus waved him off. “I’ll tell you later.” When they were both out of sight, he turned to Virgil.
“It looks like half the county’s parked in our front yard. Is dad up?”
“He didn’t stay.” Virgil shrugged. “He got into a fight with Titi last night and left after an hour.”
“I see…” Janus sighed, looking down the hall for a moment. “Can’t break tradition now, can we?” He smiled up at his little brother. “Did you get taller?”
Virgil answered by way of a bear-hug, squeezing the breath out of him.
“I missed you, too, Virge.”
Christmas Day, morning-ish
“Merci, Maman! Thank you!” Everyone spoke over each other, unwrapping the sweaters she had made for each of them.
“Yellow was very, uh, popular this year, no?” She teased them. “I hope that you like them.”
“Mine does not have yellow, it’s gold.” Roman corrected everyone. Aunt Patty scolded him. Janus laughed.
“Don’t complain, Roman, yellow is just the superior color,” said Janus, wrestling his own sweater on.
“Yours is more black than yellow!” Roman pointed out. Janus’ head popped up through the collar.
“Did I say yellow? I meant ‘black’. Black is the superior color.”
“Black’s not even a color,” Roman called after Janus shimmying away to grab a cookie with Nico in the kitchen. He came back a second later.
“Why does this cookie look like it’s frosted with vomit?” Janus held one up, looking affronted.
“Don’t suppress my creativity!” Remus shouted from under the tree.
Christmas Day, sometime, who cares anymore?
Logan stood in the hallway, reading an email from Virgil, sent at three that morning. It was lists of hearing aids, their pros and cons, and prices. And another email from Janus a few minutes ago with links on how to get disability funding. That would explain Virgil’s note at the end...
I love you. Please don’t be mad. I told Janus.
He rubbed a hand over his face and chuckled. Had he really thought he was going to keep this a secret for even a day around those two? He pocketed the phone for now and walked through the house.
There was Patton and Roman watching a girl in a beret talk on youtube. Roman had a horrified look on his face. Janus was in the kitchen teaching Alec how to play chess, and not going easy on the kid at all. Logan peeked downstairs. There were Virgil and Remus and Nico, playing charades with the aunties. Remus was making some obscene gesture that had Aunt Mel on the floor laughing and spilling her wine, and Aunt Patty was yelling at both of them.
Logan wandered to the couch and plopped down. It’s a Wonderful Life, was playing on the television. Logan hummed along with the closed captioning as the characters celebrated saving George Bailey from false charges. The vibrations in his chest felt right.
For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet
For days of auld lang syne
~
The End.
Love you with Your Hair Down (4)
Word Count-1137
Send Requests Here
“Tonk calm down the girl can’t hear you,” I chuckled taking another scoop of our ice cream we were sharing. “It’s just a movie,” I said looking back at the screen, Tonk requests she pick out a movie for tonight, dumbly picking a scary movie.
“Well i’m sorry but that girl is just dumb, gosh muggles,” She said shaking her head and taking another scoop of her ice cream.
“Hey Bella,” James said behind us, Tonk and I let out a bloody scream almost tossing the icecream off the bed. “Sorry,” he said shinning a light with his wand. “Can we talk?” He asked looking at me then at Tonk who frown.
“I’ll be back, i’ve seen this movie a million times, don’t get to scared without me,” I said to Tonk, taking one more bit of the ice cream and followed James out of the room. “What's up?” I asked standing outside my room.
“I am totally in love with you,” James whispered pressing his lips on mine, I hesitated for a moment then wrapped my arms around him and leaning in kissing him as passionately.
“What are we doing,” I paused pushing James. “Lily, Harry, oh gosh,” I whispered placing my hands on my head.
“Lily left this morning, she said she was going to visit some friends, in her words we’re over,” James said leaning back in, I placed my hands on his chest again. “What?” He asked looking at me.
“Nothing, your room now,” I whispered, James smirked and we took of to his room, forgetting about Tonk and the movie she was watching. “We’re really doing this?” I asked tossing my shirt across the room, James was equally doing the same, we both tossed our shirts and pants around the room and crawled into bed.
“We really are,” James said grabbing me and pulling me on top of him. “I waited so many years to kiss you again, I don’t think i’m ever going to stop,” James whispered pushing his lips against mine, I wrapped my arms around his body as we both sat up, his lips trailed from my lips to my neck.
“Oh don’t tell me,” Tonk said turning on the light, James and I both looked back, Tonk, Sirius and Remus were all standing at the door.
“About time, I win Remus,” Sirius said looking over at Remus and smirking. “We bet how long it would take you to get together after you and Lily left each other yesterday,” Sirius chuckled looking at James.
“Get out of here,” I shouted, Tonk shut the door and I looked back at James who smiled and shook his head. “We need to get new friends,” I joked pushing James down on the bed and smirking down at him.
~
“Good morning,” James croaked running his fingers across my back. “How was your sleep,” He asked, I looked up at him and smiled.
“It was beyond perfect James,”I smiled leaning up and pressing my lips against his. “We should get up thought, no doubt Sirius is gonna be outside our door when we open it,” I chuckled making James chuckle.
“You doubt me,” Sirius said in a deep voice, James and I shot our heads to the dark part of the room. “Have a good night huh,” Sirius chuckled rubbing his hand together.
“Padfoot if you don’t get out of this room I will kill you myself!” James shouted pointing his finger towards Sirius.
“Fine, fine whatever you say Prongs, i’ll just be leaving,” Sirius mumbled getting up from the floor, the door opened and Sirius was shot back, flying into the wall.
“Oh what the hell!” I shouted jumping out of my bed and tossing my clothes on, I ran to Sirius well James ran out of the room, wand in hand. “Are you okay?” I asked helping Sirius up.
“Bloody girls, I promise I didn’t sleep with this one,” Sirius moaned putting his hand on his head.
“Bella!” A familiar voice said, I put Sirius on the bed, grabbing his wand and walking out of the room, Cheyenne stood in the living room with James pressed against her body, holding him hostage.
“What are you doing here, are you insane?” I asked pointing my wand at her. “Put James down, he has nothing to do with this, let him go!” I shouted angry.
“This is the dark lord bussiness, he wants you and only you, from the beginning when he met, this is all i’ve been trying to do, now I’ve found you and i’m not leaving without you,” Bella said tightiny her grip on James, the two men beside her pointed their wands at Sirius and I.
“I’ll come with you, just let my friends go, this is nothing to do with them,” I nervously said dropping the wand on the ground and walking towards Bella with my hands in the air.
“What are you doing?” James muttered, Bella let him go and he came flying towards me. “You are not going with these people, I just got you back,” James cried out.
“Stupify!” Tonk shouted, knocking the two men beside Bella away into the wall. “Take a step and you’ll join your friends,” She spit out walking infront of her. “Let James go and i’ll consider letting you walk,” Tonk said raising her head in the air.
Bella pushed James towards Tonk in a blink of an eye shooting her wand at them knocking the four back, just leaving Sirius and I together. “Got you!” Cheyenne shouted jumping on top of me, knocking the both of us ontop Sirius. We hadn’t falling into the bedroom though, but in a different location. “Bloody hell,” Cheyenne muttered getting off me and grabbing my wand that laid on the ground. “i’ll deal with this later,” She mumbled walking out of the room.
“What the hell is going on Bella?” Sirius hissed wrapping his arms around me and pulling me towards him. “Is the crazy lady from the bar?” He whispered in my ear.
“Yes SIrius it is, I have no bloody idea what is going on,” I huffed leaning my head back on Sirius. “We need to get out of here,” I whispered shaking my head.
“Well I mean if we get to chance then i’m sure I could carry you on my back when we run out,” Sirius whispered tightening his grip on me. “I’m not losing you, when I just got you back,”
“There will be none of that!” Cheyenne shouted pointing her wand at us, splitting us up, I landed on the wall with pain. “Your coming with me, and you i’ll deal with you later!” She muttered, I felt myself being lifted off the ground.
“Please leave her alone!” Sirius shouted, I fell upside down, my hands falling to my side unwillingly and the last thing I could see was Sirius and the sound of his cries and screams leaving my ears.
October 24th. 4:22 am.
As soon as the four got to the rest stop, Patton and Roman ran out.
Remus grunted as Roman threw himself into Remus’ arms. Remus held him tightly as Roman burst into tears.
“You changed your mind?” Roman managed.
Remus nodded weakly. “Yeah. I changed my mind.”
Patton pulled Janus into his arms, only loosening when Janus winced. Patton pulled back with wet eyes to cup Janus’ face. He took in all of Janus’ modifications in horror.
Janus forced a smile. “I’m okay.”
He hesitated. His thumb ran over one of the makeshift scales, a healed burn. “Someone took care of you pretty well.”
Janus laughed a little. “Yeah. Remus.”
Patton kissed his forehead and moved on to Logan, giving him a big hug and a kiss on the forehead as well. His eyes widened when he saw Virgil, still only covered in Remus’ jacket. He looked to Janus, in his boxers, and shook his head.
“God, you guys must be freezing— Come on, we brought some clothes from the house. And you all need to lay down.”
Everyone but Remus grimaced at the thought of laying down, but they followed him into one of the old buildings. They had a few candles set up, giving a faint glow and a bit of warmth. A huge mound of blankets and pillows were pushed up against the wall, carefully between the sinks and the stalls.
“We know it’s not great-” Roman started, and Remus fell face-first into the blankets.
Janus, Virgil, and Logan quickly followed. Virgil and Janus snuggled up to Remus’ sides, Logan coming to spoon Janus. Roman grinned and jumped in, shimmying up behind Virgil and feeling for Remus’ hand.
Patton dug around in one of the backpacks and pulled out a few packages of food, clearly smuggled from a gas station. He crawled into the blankets and dropped something in everyone’s lap.
“Cuddle while you eat,” he demanded. “You all look so horrible, I’m so worried!”
Logan rolled over to hug Patton. “We won’t say no to food, but we’re fine. At least, I’m fine. I won’t speak for the rest.”
“We are fine,” Janus promised quietly. He pulled open his bag of chips and held it out to Virgil, who took a couple. “We’re just ready to get out of here. How’s transportation?”
“We have a car,” Roman said. “We’ve done a good job at keeping it hidden, I think. We can go as soon as you guys are well enough.”
“We’re well enough,” Virgil mumbled. “We should get going.”
Patton watched him sadly. “I… I’m sorry, what’s your name?”
“Virgil,” Janus quickly said. “His name is Virgil.”
“Virgil, we’re well hidden.” Roman squeezed his arm. “If we get out on the road with everyone half-full, they’re going to find us again. We should stay put.”
He sighed, but gave in. After they ate, they fell asleep. When Janus woke up, Virgil was tucked to his side, the others missing but their voices carrying in from outside.
Janus pulled him closer and nuzzled into Virgil’s hair. Virgil hummed.
“Feeling okay?” Virgil mumbled.
“As well as I can be.”
“Good.”
Virgil rolled over so they were chest-to-chest, looking up at Janus. “You survived that twice?”
Janus hesitated. He brushed Virgil’s bangs back. “Not really. It wasn’t like that the first time. We were closer to Remus’ position.”
“How’d you know you had to leave?”
Janus thought for a moment, biting his lip. “His words were the same. I wasn’t always in chains, but… There was no question.”
Virgil wet his lips. He folded his arms over Janus’ chest, laid over his side and left leg, staring up at him cutely. “Can I ask what happened to you?”
Janus swallowed and leaned his head back. He stared at the grimy, spider web-covered ceiling, hands trembling. “I, uh… I was sixteen when my house burned down. Stupid coincidence— Electric shortage, probably. Middle of the night. Parents got me out, but they didn’t make it. I was put in foster care, never adopted. Bates found me when I was… Nineteen, I believe. I don’t know how to say it. He saw how angry I was, said all the right things, brought me to his ‘family…’”
Janus laughed a little. “I knew what it was. I didn’t admit it, but I knew.” He sighed. “I wanted it. Something… Strong, something to be a part of. I guess I didn’t realize I wasn’t the only one who would get hurt.”
He couldn’t look at Virgil. His face flushed red, shame curling deep in his gut.
“Can I kiss you?”
Janus’ gaze snapped to Virgil, eyes wide. “What?”
Virgil blushed. “I just… I don’t know, I… I don’t think I would have made it without you. I- I really admire you, you know? You were so strong the whole time, and always reminded me that it was possible to escape, and- and even when we were separated, I just… I don’t know, thought of you.” He pursed his lips and said quietly, “It helped.”
Janus leaned down and kissed him softly. Virgil gasped a little, then pressed closer. Janus ran his fingers through Virgil’s hair, Virgil’s hands rested on Janus’ neck.
Virgil sighed happily and rested his head on Janus’ chest. “If I wasn’t so exhausted, I could do that for hours.”
Janus smiled. “We’ll have time to catch up. Is your back feeling okay?”
He frowned. “How’d you know?”
“You’re a little loud, in your sleep. You were scaring me.” Janus rubbed his hands down Virgil’s back. His muscles were pulled taut, spine full of cricks. Virgil flinched as Janus massaged, then slowly eased. “How often did he keep you in the cage?”
Virgil’s eyes fluttered shut, almost purring. “Pretty much all the time… Except when he was… You know.”
Janus kissed his head. “It’s okay. It’s over.”
“I know. If I’m in this bed for much longer, though, I’ll scream.”
Janus gently sat up. He hooked an arm under Virgil’s knees, the other supporting his back, and stood up with him.
Virgil let out a surprised laugh. “I can walk, Jane.”
Janus brought him outside, and everyone looked back in surprise. Remus, Roman, Logan, and Patton were gathered around a fire pit, just embers. They were wrapped in blankets and sat on the ground.
“What are you guys doing out of bed?” Patton cried.
“We’re losing it,” Janus laughed and set Virgil down. “We spent all month on our asses.”
Everyone looked around guiltily.
“You’re right,” Roman sighed. “Come on, come eat. Lo and I found some food.”
Virgil and Janus came closer, Remus pulling them close with a kiss to each cheek. Patton passed out food and they settled together, finally in one place.
This is a fic I’ve been writing on study breaks that you have probably all already seen at this point. I’ve affectionately named it the Goblin Brain Fic because it’s helping my brain actually get motivated for studying. I’ve slightly edited it for wording and grammar, but not for content from my previous posts. Feel free to send in asks to direct it because I’m not 100% sure where this is going and you can help decide if you feel so inclined! You can see the process I went through to build this at this link.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 My Master Post
Janus shoved himself to his feet and while Remus would usually find it easy to laugh at him for the way his hair looked, the cold glare the other man was sending him was nothing like the glares he usual leveled at Remus. He did not want to mess with that glare. Remus had some self-preservation instincts.
“Your brother?” Roman asked, still on his butt and looking confused. Now he Remus could laugh at right now.
Remus cackled. “You might want to find a new hair and make-up artist Ro-Ro.” Roman glared at him which just served to make Remus cackle more.
“I apologize for him,” Janus muttered.
Roman blinked up at him and a smile flickered over his face. “That’s a new one. I’m usually the one apologizing for him.”
Janus paused for a moment before he cracked a smile himself. “I guess you would be.” He stuck out a hand to help Roman to his feet.
“So,” Roman said. “You’re here for Virgil Gates then too?”
Janus nodded. “Yes.”
“I didn’t know he had any family other than his father and his uncle. Why didn’t D…” he stumbled over not calling Dad, “Dad”, “Sanders call you then?”
Janus’ mouth pinched in displeasure.
“It likely has to do with the fact that my mother killed his father,” Janus said blankly. Remus grimaced. Blank Janus was far scarier than glaring Janus. It meant he was feeling a whole bunch of things and didn’t want anyone to know it.
“Oh that’s…” Roman said awkwardly. “That’s heavy dude.”
“Yes. Heavy.”
“Well, we’ll snatch the kid up and make sure mommy dearest doesn’t get her hands on Baby Bop,” Remus said. “Won’t we Ro?” Remus gave Roman a look and he nodded once sharply.
“Of course, we will,” Roman said. “That’s why I’m here anyway.”
“I’m going with you,” Janus informed them.
Roman opened his mouth like he was thinking about arguing, but since Remus enjoyed having a brother, he cut him off. “Yep. Of course, you are Jay. Between the three of us, we’ll find him in no time. I mean, how far could the pipsqueak have gotten?”
Janus nodded sharply. He turned to Roman. “You were looking for him too, what do you know?”
“Not much more than you,” Roman answered. “There’d clearly been a break in when I checked the house and I found what I’m guessing was his,” he pointed a thumb at the unconscious man by the water fountain, “car down the road which a neighbor had said they’d seen someone come out of and go sneaking around the house. So, I figured Virgil and whoever broke into the house were probably still around,” Roman said. “I swung by the bus stop down the street, but no busses have left in the last half hour or so and I couldn’t see anyone around. Then, I thought to check the park and came here and heard you…er… talking to that guy,” Roman gestured to the unconscious body a couple feet away, “about finding him.”
“He didn’t know much else,” Janus told them. “Virgil pepper sprayed him and bolted.”
Remus snorted. “Good on him.”
A very small smile flickered across Janus’ face, but was gone the next second.
“Well that’s the park and the bus station checked,” Janus said.
“Would he go to any neighbors?” Roman asked.
Janus shook his head. “Probably not. He doesn’t know many of them well. Ms. Owens maybe or maybe she would have seen something. She lives next to them.”
“We’ll start there then,” Roman said.
“What about this guy?” Remus asked while poking him with the toe of his foot. “He’s still breathing.”
“Call the cops,” Janus suggested. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a plastic bag to toss to Remus who caught it. “Don’t leave fingerprints.”
“Why do you have a bagged-up gun in your pocket?” Roman asked.
“I was doing something before this,” Janus answered.
“Huh, see. That doesn’t answer my question.”
Remus ignored them in favor of rolling the body carefully over and shoving the gun into the guy’s pocket so it was visible, but didn’t look like it was supposed to be visible. He then handcuffed the guy to the water fountain and, just for funnsies, put a joint on him.
“All done,” he said after he’d positioned the man perfectly.
Roman was still side-eyeing Janus a bit but was on the phone talking to the police saying something about finding an unconscious guy with a gun.
“And we handcuffed him!” Remus whisper yelled. Roman glanced at the unconscious guy.
“We handcuffed him to a water fountain because he seemed dangerous and we didn’t want him to get away.”
As Roman continued to talk to the operator, Remus sidled up to Janus and elbowed him in the side. Janus shoved him away grumpily, but not enough to send Remus stumbling. Remus took that as a sign that he was willing to talk.
“The little bastard’s fine,” Remus promised. “We’ll find him in no time.”
“He’s my little brother,” Janus said, and his tone was level and informative, but Remus could tell he was a screaming mess on the inside.
Remus nudged his shoulder a bit and Janus scowled at the ground and stepped away. Remus narrowed his eyes at him. Roman must have looked over and read the intention in the wiggle of Remus’ shoulders because he said. “Remus! NO.” That, however, did not stop Remus from launching his whole body at Janus and tackling him to the ground.
“Remus get off!” Janus yelled trying to smack him, but Remus just dodged and tucked his face against his chest. He was whacked on the back of the head, but not nearly as hard as he could have been.
“Forced affection!”
“Roman, come get your dammed brother off of me,” Janus groused while shoving at Remus’s head.
“Remus,” Roman groaned and Remus felt a hand pulling at the back of his shirt. Remus just clung tighter. “Let him go.”
He nuzzled his cheek against Janus’s shoulder. “But I love him.”
“You are a menace to society,” Janus retorted which was basically saying it back as far as Remus was concerned, especially with the way fondness seemed to leak into his tone. He shoved at Remus’s forehead again and Remus relented, hoping to his feet.
Janus sighed heavily and pushed himself into a sitting position.
Right as Janus made it to his feet, his phone dinged. It was his phone from Dad not the one from Janus’ mom, Remus noted as he took it out of his pocket. Remus leaned over his shoulder to get a look at what the text said. Janus spared him a glance but didn’t protest him looking.
Mission details were attached, and rather formal message read ‘Be at Bucking Bay in 30 minutes for a pickup. Please confirm.’
Remus could tell and he knew by the look on Janus’s face that he could tell too that Dad did not think Janus knew his brother was missing.
He silently opened the attachment and read the mission details before dropping the phone onto the ground and stomping his foot onto the screen until it shattered.
“No offence,” he said calmly, “but fuck your father.” He turned away toward the entrance of the park without another word. Remus swallowed thickly and shared a glance with Roman.
“We should probably follow him,” Roman said. “He knows where the neighbor lives.”
Remus nodded though he’d planned on following Janus even if he didn’t have information about the mission they were on.
They followed him down the street back towards where Remus knew Virgil and Remy’s house was (had been?... He didn’t think Virgil would be living there anymore if his dad was dead.).
Janus knocked on the front door of a house next door without preamble. It took a few seconds for the door to open. Even after working with Janus for the last two years, Remus was still surprised how quickly the other man’s face could transform.
“Good evening Ms. Owens,” he said smoothly, an apologetic smile on his face and a slight crinkle to his brow. “I was supposed to pick Virgil up to take him to a school play tonight, but he wasn’t home when I knocked. Would you have happened to have seen anything? I believe he may have left his phone at home.”
The woman who’d opened the door blinked at him in confusion for a few moments before a smile lit up her face. “Oh, hello Janus,” she said. “I did see him run out his backdoor a few minutes ago and hop the fence.”
“He went out the backdoor?” Janus said, a small frown flickering over his face for a moment before it disappeared. “Towards the grocery store perhaps?”
“He did seem to be going that way,” she confirmed.
“Hmm. Well I did tell him I would help him sneak in snacks to the play,” Janus said. “Perhaps he forgot and ran to get some. When did you see him?”
“Oh, about half an hour ago, give or take. I’m surprised he’s not back yet.”
Janus chuckled lightly. “Probably got tied up in the chocolate aisle. I’ll look for him there. Thank you, ma’am.”
“Oh, it’s no problem sweetie. Have fun at the play.”
Janus continued to smile until the door snapped shut. Then his face fell back into a neutral expression and he turned away.
“The grocery store,” he said. “Let’s look there. He does know the area so it would be a good place to hide.”
“Yeah, dude,” Remus replied. “I’m sure he’s off hiding in the chocolate aisle just like you said.”
I heard your requesting writing prompts? Remus putting animal ears on everyone just to see how they react
Ofc Nonnie!
Read it here on ao3!
____
Remus was bored. Bored out of his mind. He wanted something to do, something entertaining, something that involved messing with his fellow sides, something that involved chaos.
He watched from the shadows as the other sides went about their day, hoping to be inspired. He thought about kidnapping one of them, but that just didn't interest him at the moment. Maybe making them relive some of Thomas' worst nightmares? No, he didn't feel like doing that either.
He watched as Patton plopped onto the couch, playing with the sleeves of his cat onesie. Suddenly an idea popped into his head. Remus jumped out of the shadows and threw himself at Patton, who let out a scared shriek.
"Remus what are you doing?" Patton asked as Remus sprawled on top of him.
Remus smirked. "Making things more interesting," he said, waving his hand and tapping the top of Patton's head. Immediately, soft grey cat ears appeared, connected to the stop of Patton's head. Patton's hand reached up and felt the ears, giving them a soft wiggle.
"Wait did you give me cat ears?" Patton asked, a mix of shock and excitement in his voice.
"Of course Pattycake! You're a kitty man now!" Patton gasped, giggling.
“Maybe I should turn the others into animals like you! You’d all be so cute!” Remus giggled, a sight that slightly unsettled Patton. Before Patton could comment on the whole ‘giving the others animal traits’ idea, Remus hopped off the couch and skipped into the other room, leaving Patton to play with his new cat ears.
The first side he came across was Logan, who greeted him respectfully, looking up from his book to say hello. Remus watched as Logan went back to his book, pondering what animal to turn Logan into. He remembered Logan’s onesie, remembered the alicorn, with it’s wings and horn. He wanted to give Logan wings but decided against it simply because that would be a lot of work.
“Hey LoLo...” Remus went and sat at Logan’s feet, begging for attention.
“Hello Remus, how are you today?” Logan asked, setting his book down to show that he was paying attention to the creative side.
“I’m good! I had this idea and I gave Patton kitty ears! He is one adorable feline if I do say so myself!”
Logan’s eyes widened. “You gave Patton cat ears?”
“Of course I did! Weren’t you listening?”
“Are they anatomically correct?” Logan’s eyes had a sparkle to them that Remus knew he wanted to see more of.
“Yep! I may be chaotic but i’m not lazy. Oh, before you go to look at Patton’s new kitty ears, I wanted to give you something!” He waved his hands and a horn appeared, connected to Logan’s head, just at the hairline. Logan’s hand reached up, feeling the horn before he jumped up to find a mirror to examine it. Remus hummed as he watched Logan poke at it. Finally, he got bored and headed off to find another side.
He wasn’t looking where he was going as he skipped down the hallway, accidentally barreling straight into Janus. The two fell to the floor dramatically. Janus knew that Remus would never apologize, so he just dusted himself off and got back to his feet.
“Janny wait!” Remus said when Janus turned to go. Used to Remus’ random antics, Janus turned around.
“You’re a snake.”
“My aren’t you a smart little cookie today!” Janus teased. Remus ignored him, clearly thinking hard. When Remus was thinking about something, Janus knew that most of the time, that wasn’t a good thing.
“I mean, I can give you doggies,” Remus muttered, not caring if Janus heard him. “But snakes don’t have ears and you already have your scales and a forked tongue...”
“What are you up to Remus?”
“Giving everyone animal features. I thought it’d be interesting.”
Janus tried not to laugh. This was definitely Remus’ tamest idea in a long time, so he decided to humor the Duke.
“And you want to give me dog features? Even though I’m a snake?”
Remus shrugged. “You already have all the cool snake features, other than venom but venom isn’t aesthetically pleasing to me. I can’t see it. I want to admire my work and unless you plan to go around attacking people, which I know you won’t do for me, then there’s no point.”
“You could just not give me any new animal features.”
Remus rolled his eyes. “Well where’s the fun in that? Now stay still, you’re going to be the cutest little puppy snake ever!” He walked over and tapped Janus’ head, watching as two floppy dog ears appeared out of thin air.
“Great! Now I must find another victim!” Janus watched as Remus bounced away, chuckling a little bit as he tried to kick down Virgil’s door.
Remus kicked hard, the whole door shook. On the other side, he could hear Virgil shout for him to go away. Of course Virgil knew who was at his door, who else would try to kick it down?
“Virgie, let me in! I wanna play!” Remus whined as if he was a small child who was denied a play thing.
“Go away Remus! I don’t want to do whatever disgusting thing you have planned!”
“It’s not disgusting I promise! Just let me in!” Remus continued to sound like a needy child, so Virgil sighed and opened the door. Remus cheered as he walked into the anxious side’s room, flopping on Virgil’s bed.
“Do bats have ears?” He asked Virgil, staring up at the ceiling.
Virgil sputtered, surprised. “I don’t know, Logan would be the one to ask.”
“I don’t want to ask Logan.”
“Then look it up,” Virgil went back to his chair, where he was reading a comic that’s title read “Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.” Remus made a mental note to steal those comics later.
“I always have to do all the work!” He said, summoning Thomas’ laptop and googling his question. He marveled for a moment at the cute little bats on the screen, before turning to Virgil, who was still reading the comic, and waving his hand, making bat ears appear on the top of Virgil’s head.
Virgil immediately felt the change and his head shot up to glare at Remus before he rushed over to the mirror.
“Remus what did you do? Get those things off of me!”
“Chill down emo! They’re just bat ears. I think they suit you!” Remus left the room, leaving Virgil to try and pull the ears off, but they were connected to his head.
“One last victim! Time to visit my dear sweet brother!” Remus bounced off, searching for his princely twin.
He found Roman in the imagination, practicing different techniques with his favorite sword.
“Heyo Romano!” Remus said, watching him.
“Brother,” Roman nodded, smacking the attack dummy with the edge of his blade.
“I want to play with you.”
“Like, a sword fight?” Roman stopped attacking to face the other creative side.
“While that does sound fun, that’s not what I had in mind. We can do that another time. For now, come here.” Remus pointed to the ground right in front of him. Roman hesitated a moment before walking over. Remus smacked his forehead gently, trying not to laugh.
At first, Roman was confused on what just happened, but then he felt the change. He conjured a lake and looked at his reflection in the water. The shriek of horror he made was enough to send Remus sprawling on the ground, clutching his sides as he laughed.
“You fiend!” Roman shouted, grabbing his sword again. “You gave me pig ears!”
“I can give you a piggy snout and tail to match if you want!” Remus teased from where he lay lying on the ground.
“Why would you do this?”
“I gave everyone animal features!”
“Did you give everybody pig ears?”
“No, just you.”
Roman charged at his brother, who just jumped up and ran out of the imagination. Roman followed him, the two running around the house, loud shouts echoing through the halls.
“What is going on?” Patton asked as Janus grabbed hold of Remus and Virgil held Roman back. Remus was cackling like a maniac.
“He tried to turn me into a pig! Look what he’s given me!” Roman said, pointing to the pig ears.
Remus shrugged. “They suit you.”
“Now Remus,” Patton began. “That is not a kind thing you did. Please give your brother back his normal features.”
Remus yawned. “Can’t, I’m too tired. Used so much creativity on all of you that it wore me out. Imma take a nap. RoRo can fix it all though if he really wanted to.” Remus wiggled out of Janus’ grip and laid down on the couch, instantly falling asleep.
“I can’t believe him!” Roman fumed.
“Roman,” Logan interrupted Roman’s brooding. “You have creative power too, just wish away the features.” Roman made an o shape with his mouth before waving his hand and the pig ears vanished. Virgil made a motion to his bat ears and asked for them to be gotten rid of and Roman got rid of everybody’s new animal features. Patton seemed slightly disappointed to lose his cat ears, but overall, everyone was glad that Remus was asleep, unable to cause more chaos in the moment.
Remus sighed in his sleep, knowing that his amazing creations had been gotten rid of. It didn’t matter, he could always cause more trouble later when he was awake.
Heavenly
⚠️spoilers for the most recent sanders sides!!!⚠️
The crickets were chirping their special tune as two bodies ran through the field of tall grass. One of them was cheering and howling at the top of their lungs, overall joy and happiness filling them up as they reached towards the starry sky. The other though, was swatting away the grass that tickled his sides.
"If you keep on doing that, we'll definitely be caught." Janus whispered as he elbowed away the grass that's separating he and Roman. The boy with golden brown locks chuckled at his worried friend's tone. "Roman, I'm serious. You aren't even supposed to be out here."
"Come on, J! Why do you think I'm so happy? I'm free!" Roman laughed as he thrusted his arms up once more towards the stars. Janus' frown melted into a soft smirk.
"You've were only grounded for two days, idiot. And I brought you some mochi for one of them." Janus said as they continued walking through the tall grass. He tensed at the sound of his phone going off. The phone slipped out from his jacket pocket and he read the text from Virgil.
Dude, where tf are you? We've been here for like thirty minutes and the pizzas already cold.
Shit. He completely forgot he made plans with Virgil and Remus tonight. His bottom lip disappeared between his teeth as he chewed it nervously. Fuck fuck fuck-
"Hey," Janus flinched at the voice. He looked up from his phone to see Roman's knitted brows of concern. He released his lip as he glanced down at Virgil's text. "Is everything okay?"
Janus stared down at his screen for a few seconds before muting his phone and placing it in his back pocket. He reached up to adjust his mustard beanie and dark brown 'bangs' before straightening his posture. "M'fine. Let's go?"
The tension visibly disappeared from Roman's body as he gave Janus his award winning smile. His hand came up and snatched Janus' beanie before placing it atop his own head. He also booped his friend's nose to see his confused/irritated expression on that cute face of his. "Hey-!"
"Yeah, let's go." Roman smirked as he turned on his heels and disappeared in the grass once more. Janus huffed as he patted down his hair before following after Roman.
The grass seemed to grow more sparse as they neared the edge of the field where tiny daisies grew. Their view ahead became less grass filled as they saw miles beyond to where the daisies were continuous in going over the hills. Roman smiled at the sight as he slowly trailed past the daisies tickling his ankles. The other boy was staring at the back of his friend's head, his beanie rested atop brushed out curls that looked silky, yet tanged and frizzy at the same time. Janus sighed as he forced himself to look away.
"What did you do when I was grounded anyways?" Roman suddenly asked, throwing a look over his shoulder.
I realized something that will make you hate me. I already hate myself so please spare me. "I hung out with Remus and Virgil, also caught up on homework so," Janus said as he pulled out his Polaroid, taking it out of the pouch. He flipped it around and started wiping away the smudged fingerprints with his sleeve. Roman hummed in response as he shrugged off his jacket.
Janus brought the Polaroid up to his face so he could see if the fingerprints were gone. "I don't know how comfortable I feel with leaving my bike back at the fence. Y'know, the one that had a sign that said 'Private Property', and also had a picture of a gun under it?" Janus quipped as he continued to wipe at the lens. Roman rolled his eyes so hard Janus was afraid they'd stay that way.
"You're not scared, are you?" Roman smirked as he patted down his black Levi's. Janus raised a brow.
"Oh I'm sorry, I would just prefer to not be shot by a hillbilly with a fucking 22 Rifle, but be my guest if that's your thing." Janus scoffed as he crouched down to take a picture of the daisies. He stood back up to snap a picture of the daisies rolling down and over the hills further out.
"Jokes on you; it's not my thing," Roman mumbled as he sat down on his jacket. Janus winced when he stepped into a pothole, setting down his camera near Roman's foot so he can get his shoe free. "Holy shit," Roman said as he reached over and picked up the familiar looking camera. "This is the camera I bought you for your birthday. I thought you said Remus broke it at the movie theater?"
Janus got his shoe free and stumbled down beside Roman on the daisies. He winced but quickly shook it off as he reached for the camera. "Yeah I... I-I was saving up the money to fix it. I took it too Remy, but he did it for free anyways." Janus mumbled as he picked at the strap. Roman peered over his friend's shoulder.
"Does it have film?"
"Yeah, there's more in my pack too. We can take some pictures, if you wanted.." Janus added. Roman smirked as he practically gave Janus his puppy eyes. The boy flushed as he brought up his Polaroid with shaky hands. Roman immediately smiled for the camera and curled up to hug his knees. The flash didn't blind Roman cause his eyes were shut for the photo. Janus pulled out the Instax card and placed it on his backpack to develop.
"Maybe one of you looking at the stars? Just turn a bit and look up," Roman followed Janus' request and looked up at the millions upon millions of stars. He smiled softly as his friend shot more pictures. Janus slowly placed down his camera and just fonded over his friend's smile and sheer beauty. He barely contained himself from saying, "Perfect,"
Roman looked over at Janus with a shy smile, and grabbed the Polaroid with a smirk. "Roman-"
"C'mon, one picture." He snickered as he pointed the lens at Janus. The boy huffed as he hid behind his sweatshirt collar, then the flash blinded him. He squinted and pawed at his sensitive eyes before the flash frightened him once more.
"Alright, enough-" Janus smirked as he grabbed the Polaroid from Roman's grip, causing the other to burst out in laughter. "I don't know if you noticed, but I'm not exactly the photogenic one," He chuckled under his breath.
Roman's giggling faded as they sat their in silence, the crickets becoming the most prominent things they hear. "Hey," Janus looked up from the undeveloped photos of Roman on his backpack. He scooted closer into Janus' personal space and lightly brushed his fingers against the camera to place it beside his thigh. "I think you're breathtaking." Roman whispered under his breath.
Janus' cheeks flushed as Roman slipped off the mustard beanie and placed it back atop the other's head. Hands slid from his hair to cup his burning red cheeks. Roman's hands were soft and warm against his cool skin, causing him to shiver. It wasn't unpleasant, it was heavenly if anything. Janus leaned into the touch on instinct and sighed. "Yup, breathtaking.." Janus gasped softly when Roman's lips skimmed his own, and tensed up at the feeling uncontrollably. His eyes started fluttering shut, but it was quickly interrupted by a dog barking in the distance. They fell away from each other as they looked over to see a dog on a leash, with an angry owner attached to the end of it.
"Shit-!" Roman hissed as he quickly grabbed his jacket and backpack. "Come on, we gotta go." He grabbed the Polaroids and shoved them into his backpack. Janus scrambled to pocket the rest and snatched his pack right up. They started making a run for it back to the tall grass. It was safe to say they were both terrified of the dog that was surely chasing them. Janus quickly lost Roman as he ran blindly through seven foot tall grass. He grunted when he stumbled into a pothole, quickly regaining himself to keep on running. Swatting away the grass he went through helped alot, and soon enough he was out of the field and running to the fence.
"Janus!" Roman yelled from the other side of the fence. How the fuck is he already over the damn fence? Janus stumbled against the chained fence, throwing his backpack over and starting the climb. They both gasped when the dog and owner appeared from the grass, so Janus hastily jumped over, landing on his wrists. He whimpered as Roman lifted him to his feet.
"My camera!" Janus yelled as the Polaroid laid on the other side of the fence, the strap snapped in two. He fought Roman's grip to retrieve his previous camera but the other was too strong and determined to escape. "No- stop!"
"Fucking kids!" The man yelled as his dog barked and growled at them. The dog pawed and jumped on the fence, trying to get as close to the intruders as possible. "Private property! You're lucky I don't call the damn cops!"
Janus cursed under his breath as he ran over to his bike and Roman quickly got on while he hopped onto his handlebars. Roman quickly pedalled off onto the road towards downtown.
After ten minutes of riding, Janus just sat on the handlebars with a blank expression. "Fuck, that was close," Roman huffed as he continued to pedal down Stanford Lane. The lights were low but on, lighting up the street softly. It wasn't busy, but there was enough buzz for a Tuesday night. Cars reved on by while they simply rode the bike down main street. Roman chewed his lip at Janus' silence.
"I.. I'm sorry about the camera. We were gonna get caught I didn't know what to do..." He peered over to see the bruising on Ethan's left wrist. "Holy shit, is it broken-?"
"Just get to your house," Janus mumbled. "So I can get to mine." Roman frowned at Janus' bitter tone, but turned down towards his neighborhood anyways.
A few more blocks down and he turned them onto his street to the first house on the corner. His parents were home, great. The window it is.
He pulled them into his driveway, Janus getting off of the handlebars then Roman off the seat. He pushed down the kickstand and they both stood there staring at the pavement.
"I am, really, really sorry about the Polaroid. I wish you could've gotten it, and now you're wrist is probably sprained and I get it if your upset about that kiss, or whatever it was. Tonight was just bad and I'm- so fucking sorry." Roman poured out his apology in one go, while Janus still stared at his muddy shoes in a blank expression. Roman sighed as he adjusted his straps tighter for the climb up. "I'll... Night, J." Roman mumbled as he left Janus and the bike in the driveway while he went over to the side of his house.
He hopped onto one of the trashcans and jumped til he grabbed the edge of the gutter to hoist himself up and over. He grunted as he jumped over towards the ledge, scaling across the edge til he reached his window. Luckily, he always kept it open for this exact reason, so he simply slid the glass up and threw his backpack over to his desk then stepped through. His feet hit the carpeted floor not so gently. "You've singlehandedly fucked everything up. Good for you.." Roman sighed as he reached over to shut his window. His fingers brushed the sill as it started sliding shut, but a hand gripping his wrist caused him to stop in his tracks.
"What the f-" A hand clamped over his mouth, and soon he saw Janus' pleading eyes to not scream. "Janus?" He mumbled into the other's palm. Janus nodded as he removed his hand to grip the edge of the window.
"I-I'm slipping-!" Janus yelled under his breath as his grip faltered, but Roman quickly grabbed his wrist to pull him inside. Both of them fell to the ground with a loud thump. Roman groaned at the weight on his chest and stomach.
"Are you psychotic? What the hell was that! You could've been seriously injured-!" Roman gasped at how Janus connected their lips quickly. He laid frozen as warm, pliable lips grazed his. His eyes fluttered shut as he copied the movements, Janus straddling his thighs as he went in for more and more and more. Roman's hands were hot and delightful gripping his hips, keeping them close. "I'm still really upset with you, that was dangerous. And isn't your wrist sprained?"
Janus huffed as he leaned back on Roman's thighs. "Why did you think I was slipping? That was painful." Janus mumbled as he raised up his bruised wrist. Roman took his hand gently and kissed the inside of Janus' wrist. The boy winced but relaxed as the kisses trailed up to his palm, then to his fingers. His vision became cloudy as Roman kissed the tip of his fingers then grazed them against his lips. "Roman.." One finger slipped between those pillowy lips, and Janus sighed as he allowed his head to hang.
His tongue wrapped around the tip of Janus' index finger, causing the boy to shiver. "Fuck... Roman, you're insufferable." Janus mumbled, no real venom behind it. Roman simply snickered as he gently placed down the other's hand.
"What are you gonna tell your parents? Won't they notice their son's wrist is purple and broken?" Roman asked as he laid down beneath Janus, enjoying the weight atop his thighs. The boy huffed and stared at his wrist with a look of disgust. "I don't think they'll be very happy to hear we snook onto private property, then got chased out by a dog, and to top it all off-" Roman pointed at Janus' wrist, which was definitely swelling up.
"Yeah... I think it's my turn to be grounded for two days, or two years. We'll cross that bridge when we get to it." Janus sighed, settling back against Roman's thighs. He smirked as he leaned over, his upper half being supported by his good arm as he and Roman brush noses. "But you'll be there with me anyways, won't you?"
Their lips connected, Roman's hand going up to cup Janus' cheeks as the silence settled around them. The only noise was their quick intakes of breath, the occasional whimper, or the slide of glossy lips and tongue. Roman hummed as he lifted his hips and hooked one leg behind the other's, then flipped them to where Janus was pinned to the carpet. If he bumped his wrist, he showed no pain. Though he did wrap his legs behind the small of Roman's back. All Roman saw were glassy eyes and rosy cheeks before diving back in.
Janus whined when Roman abandoned his mouth to kiss his nose, eyelids, then where his discolored skin was, from his forehead all they down to his neck. He smiled softly, turning his head to capture Roman's lips once more. His lips were heavenly, his touch intoxicating, this, everything is so much, but in a good way.
Roman nosed at the side of Janus' neck, pressing a smile into the heated skin.
"Yeah, I'll be there."
"Good."
