fav genre of cafes is the one you get out in the suburbs out of the city, like in and behind the hills and valleys where tiny "village" centres have formed in the middle of the suburb theyre named after. the ones built out of old flats and houses built decades ago and changed to have a counter and coffee machines and a sign outside, but theyre cramped and have awkward hallways and home shaped rooms filled throughout with mismatched tables and chairs and couches around coffee tables by what used to be livingroom windows and an open staircase leading down/up to a kitchen thats been renovated to be able to supply pastries and sandwiches for the inevitable wave of children and parents that storm through from the school around the corner come 3pm
#local owned cafe/business good is what im saying#we have a few at the village centre im near. its very nice. nestled in the valley near the botanic gardens. lots of sun and little shops#the other ones ive lived near were a big one with a dead mall LOTS more shops#and then a little one thats also nice but mostly visited very well off people who lived in the nicer half of the suburb#and werent very kind to the local dairy owners or cafe stagf#mind you theres a bloke at the table next to me complaining about how ''dirty'' the south island is and how ''rude'' they were so.#not everything is perfect
