i think the reason why theres so much religious confusion in regards to campaign 3's interpretation is because people are either thoroughly taking a christian or athiest-who-was-raised-christian -and-now-hates-all-religion perspective, when to those outside of those categories, c3 could not more obviously be a critique of both, in a world entirely uninfluenced by a christian viewpoint in itself

#van speaks #some folk are so convinced the primary dieities have done *nothing* wrong actively ignoring that they bombed society back to the stone age #and some folk are convinced that all the gods must be slaughtered without mercy when some like kord & melora are shown as deeply remorseful #& have done good. desperate to make up for their actions #with matt literally saying aeor was as warped as it was because it was so far beyond religion it forgot art too #it's all difficult & wrong & strange and it's purposeful #we cannot look at anything in exandria easily from our perspective #it's like people trying to apply mortal logic to fae #but we can see one point: we need religion as part of art. & life.#we can forgive or we can not #all that matters is we cant let the next generation be doomed due to our hatred #we cannot let our trauma happen again to those after us #and we cant achieve that by destruction like ludinus wishes #we cannot value doomsday as a solution to our problems #sometimes things cannot be solved by death. sometimes we need to be people and face ugly humanity and keep going
