am i stupid why do i not understand what erik means by that line

erik's lamenting the fact he left charles when he decided to leave krakoa, ultimately leaving charles to look after krakoa by himself and try to keep the nation under control alone

Yah #evidently charles and erik had a more intense bond compared to charles and moira #but it just solidified the people charles trusted the most to help him run krakoa left him #in regards to charles 'desperate desire to be loved'#that could be a reference to how charles is typically 'the father of mutants' and sees most other mutants as his children #and him wanting that family to be cared for- wanting to be loved by that family and to love that family- wanting whats best #then of course as erik's dying in ororo's arms he specifically warns her to look after charles because he knows how charles can get #and wants to make sure he doesnt do something stupid out of desperation which. jeaLJEALKJ OOPS.#and so ULTIMATELY in that moment erik's probably thinking to himself #'whatever bad thing happened to charles i could have prevented it if i stayed'
