btw i saw a post that talked about the criticism on spopâs portrayal of war and the person basically said that âwar isnât the main theme of the show, itâs the emotional conflictâ. and like?? the creators didnât have to bring war into it then. you can write stories about emotional and interpersonal conflict and the cycle of abuse, without having to make it about war. and a story can focus on multiple issues at once, if the writers are competent enough.
if spop wasnât about war, the creators could have just made it a normal highschool drama or something. there was no need to make it a she-ra reboot, especially considering the fact that they insulted the original and changed everything except for the character names. if you donât want to focus on a specific theme, you donât write it into your story. simple as that. itâs like writing a dystopian novel with no critique on real-world social issues. thatâs what dystopia is all about, you canât just say âwell my story focuses more on the characters than the dystopian world theyâre inâ. just donât write dystopia then.
and this is WAR weâre talking about. itâs not a fantasy trope, itâs a very real issue. if youâre going to include something like that in your narrative, you have to be prepared to address it with the seriousness it deserves, and not make light of it. acting like war is just this petty little pillowfight is irresponsible at best and outright insensitive at worst.
#fans act like the writers were being held at gunpoint and forced to make a she-ra rewrite#when nate just wanted to release a fancy version of his she-ra fanfiction#and wanted to include catra trying to murder and brainwash adora without making her look like.. a criminal#because this is WAR ofc sheâs trying to kill someone#spop critical#spop salt#spop#spop discourse#spop criticism#she ra#anti spop#tw war mention
