I touched on the idea before in an older version of Second Chances but it's no longer applicable to the way that the story is now

but I would like to consider again the idea that people who are on the receiving end of magical healing a lot may build up a 'tolerance' to it as a sort of trauma response, and maybe even get to a point where they literally can't be healed anymore

I just think the psychosomatic implications of that are interesting :)

#there ARE other trauma responses dealing with magic in Second Chances #like Mahesha is literally no longer capable of shapeshifting back to his original form #and it's 100% a trauma thing that stopped him from using magic that way #there's also Bri's allergic reaction to demonic magic to consider #and uh...literally everything going on with Vese re:forest lord magic #although healing response stuff wouldn't work with haltiat #it could with other races #so it's worth exploring haha
