Gen is the older sister to Rosalind Amell of Kinloch Hold, one of Revka’s five mage children. (This whole thing came from me fleshing out Ros’s backstory, making Gen, and then getting hit by the thought of “wouldn’t it be funny if she ended up Inquisitor”.) She was sent to the Ostwick Circle, where she befriended and eventually fell in love with Evelyn Trevelyan. They considered themselves married, though as mages it was never officialized

During the rebellion, however, they found themselves on opposite sides: Gen with the loyal mages, Evie with the rebels. They were separated when the tower fell and planned to reunite and try to work things out at the Conclave…and you can guess how that worked out

So Gen is starting out mourning and deeply conflicted about her place in all of this, which sucks for her but is fun for me!
