once again thinking about the logistics of fitting 3rd phantomverse into manga canon. obviously theres the conflict of urahara being captain of 12th while someone other than shinji is captain of 5th. but also just the fact that yoruichi and urahara exist can let u argue for this to be pre-vizard with shinji just written out for reasons. and also this can explain why in vizard arc they send out a task force of so many captains and lieutenants - theyre fresh off the arturo battle and paranoid and aching. but also the fact that half the captains simply do not exist can let u argue for post-vizard and the fact that they use the shisui mirror at all, bc theyre at the weakest theyve ever been with so many captains and lieutenants just gone and they need secret weapons and they need them now. but then urahara cant exist, and without urahara personally knowing the kudo twins and how they "died" and probably feeling some amount of personal guilt for it he would not have any reason to believe them when they show up claiming to be from some hundred years ago. anyway i think both are fun and the only real distinction is whether shinji would be seigen's captain or lieutenant
