I'm a cinema/theatre major so I've been studying poetics under the lens of scriptwriting strategies/tips, I had a class where we analyzed all Aristotle's Poetics (me being proud cuz I can flex that I don't know how to ball but at least I do, in fact, know Aristotle) and OMG it was challenging but also extremely interesting. I also have Aesthetics in my syllabus because of the whole "education to art" / "what is art? What is beautiful?" thing, and we did talk a lot about the art of poetry writing and just writing and rhetoric and stuff like that from a philosophical perspective. It was interesting both times.

ooh interesting! we read aristotle at the beginning of the semester as well! in france (where i'm from, yes haha) we have to study philosophy in high school and since he's a philosophical institution i was already familiar with his work so it made it more enjoyable + easier to understand! though the main author we studied for the rest of the class was gérard genette and other structuralists. i guess poetics has a slightly different meaning in french than in english because it mostly means the "rules" that govern a certain literary medium (be it poetry, novels, theater, etc...), not so much purely studying the philosophy of art. (i did have an entire chapter on 'what is art' in high school philosophy though!)
