More from our Bigfoot trip:
One thing I wanted to do was check out a rental cabin where a group of 10 people are convinced they had an experience with a GROUP of Bigfoots, lasting several HOURS.
This was the cabin/story featured on the show These Woods are Haunted. I think it's on demand on Discovery Channel. S3E7 - "It's Coming for the Cabin". I don't have Discovery but was able to find a working torrent of this episode, so there's that option. The show re-enacts the events with actors, while the actual witnesses tell their story.
When they mentioned it was in Hocking Hills, I thought "Hey, I think I recently read this report on BFRO.net!" (Bigfoot Field Research Organization - check it out, there might be reports from your own area. It's organized by state, then by county. BFRO researchers follow up on reports in person and publish the reports to their website only if they deem them credible enough.)
So I checked BFRO again and it's the same story.
The witnesses in this story go into even more detail about it on TWAH.
The cabin is only 5 miles from where we camped at the Old Stone Church. Very close, so we wanted to check out the site in person. We found it, and nobody was staying there at the time so we were able to take our time and look around thoroughly.
I tried several times to upload the photos from my camera but they're too big for Tumblr and I don't feel like resizing them all manually, so I'll screenshot what I sent to Tyler and Brii on messenger. The screenshotted photos are good enough...
It also has most of the hallmarks of alleged Bigfoot encounters: Horrible stench, grunting/growling/screaming, tree-shaking, branch-breaking, footprints, and 4 of the witnesses actually SAW a huge figure in the yard, coming toward the cabin. You don't see a lot of accounts with multiple witnesses and/or multiple creatures. This has both. It's also a recent report; it happened at the end of October in 2020. I'm focusing on reports from 2020 onward.
We want to get a group of friends together and rent the place ourselves for 2-3 days. I want us to rent it around that same time of year those people were there.
The vast majority of sightings in this region happen in Spring and Fall, so it's theorized that Bigfoots migrate through this area. Makes me wonder because if all these people are lying why not year-round? Ohio's black bear population is miniscule (official number statewide is only 50-100) but if it's all mistaken identity, again - bears are active all summer, too, and they don't migrate. They stay right here. So there should be about as many encounters during Summer. If not more, because that's when you have the most people outside enjoying nature.
We visited a few other interesting encounter sites and found some good "Squatchy" places to camp that are even more isolated than Old Stone Church, so more coming soon...
