Hating the fact I’m on the *one* single person in existence who is so use to new getter dub that the sub is weird to hear despite it objectively being better. News dub isn’t bad as it again is the only dub we got that actually had ACTORS and solid directing, but I get why for a few reasons people still don’t like it and would prefer to watch the sub for the main factor Hideo and Naoya revise their roles again so they already have more experience in acting especially with the characters compared to Lex and Kirk-

But yet every time I’ve heard the sub it’s felt- weird. Like Ryoma being 20 and having a deep ass voice is just a anime thing but it feels wrong to me, even if Hideo can absolutely kill the battle yells better than Lex, Lex just sounds more believable as a 20 year old to me and still puts in some range in with Ryoma. He’s never flat, he shows Ryoma being angry, chill and sometimes whiny lol at points so his basic line deliverys still have weight to it even if his yells aren’t as powerful as Hideo’s. (But I can’t exactly blame him for not pushing it when Hideo LITERALLY said playing Ryoma as arma killed his throat and idk how New faired 💀)

Naoya I haven’t heard enough of in New but while I really love his crazy laughs in Hayato’s debut ep, he kinda runs into the same issue as Hideo as he sounds too old portraying as younger version of the character. I wouldn’t say Kirk exactly sounds 20-though Hayato age is never specified-but despite “ahaha funny Shadow voice” I genuinely think the gruff approach fits him. There are some shaky lines here and there as I think Kirk sticking to a smoother tone for Hayato tends to sound better, but Hayato is absolutely the type of guy to always sound like he smoked one to many cigars LOL. (Also unlike Lex, Kirk can actually do really good battle screams! Genuinely the “NOW YOUR MINE” in ep 7 by him sounds really good)

The others I didn’t really mention as they aren’t returning roles and from what I heard they match up pretty well to the sub, but also I never expected making a word salad about preferring a fucking dub all cause I was rewatching bits for something but here we are 💀 (I still do wanna watch new fully subbed one day though)
