(Hermitcraft AU) Grian

_____ joined the world.

Upon seeing the message on his communicator, Xisuma immediately alerted the Hermits of a possible intruder. He had made sure that no one wouldn’t be able to get into their worlds that easily without knowing the exact spell to chant. Whoever got in, how did they managed to do it? He quickly told the Hermits to find this person so he could interrogate them.  It didn’t help that since this individual is unregistered in their Communicator database, their name didn’t show up so he couldn’t teleport to their location.

One of the Hermits searching for the intruder was Mumbo. He was in the forest during the time the intruder joined. He scurried and scouted the area, trying to find this person. 

After a while of searching, he heard a pained groan deeper into the forest.

Mumbo rushed to the sound and gasped at the sight.

Before him is a man, possibly younger than him, barely lying on his side. His green shirt is soiled, torn, and bloodied while his dirty blond hair is tangled and messy. What shocked him the most is seeing the state of his lilac wings: they are both cut off and bleeding. Upon closer inspection, there is an open scar marring the left side of his face.

Without any second thought, he pulled up his Communicator and messaged the Hermits.

Part 2 of my Hermit designs for my au, now named Intertwined Fates! The first one was False but I will give her a proper design and post about her one day.

In this au, Grian is a Shapeshifting Alesian. Alesians (from Latin word ales meaning “winged”) are winged-humanoid species. They are composed of subspecies based around birds (Avians), bats (Chiropterans), and much rarer dragon hybrids (Draconians). Shapeshifting Alesians, on the other hand, are much different from these three families of Alesians. They are able to shapeshift into the desired form of Alesian (Avians being the easiest to transform into while Draconian being the hardest); however, Grian can’t shapeshift on his own and can only transform when he is exposed to the animal frequently (like chicken, parrot, or if lucky, dragon). Their massive distinction in appearance from the other Alesians is that their wings are lilac in color, something not seen in any other species.

Being a Shapeshifting Alesian, it is said that his species “aren’t meant to exist”, a “result of a glitch”, or the ancestors “cursed” to being into one. Because of this, his kind isn’t really welcome and the Watchers, said to be agents of the Gods tasked to hunt down “anomalies”, are hunting down his species and bring them towards extinction so for years, he had always been running away.

Over the years, he met people he had grown close with (particularly Taurtis and Pearl) and he decided to form a group (a SMP) with them and settle in a random world. They called their group Evo as they slowly advance their world in technology and blocks. Everything had been peaceful aside from the occasional mystery of the Watchers. It was until they decided to defeat The End it all went wrong.

When they individually defeated the dragon, the Watchers showed themselves and took him in. They were caring at first for him until they became controlling and manipulative to the point they wanted to kill him. As he escaped, they cut off his wings and gave him a nasty magical scar. He was able to reach a Teleporter, but the Watchers accidentally destroyed it (while aiming for Grian) and this in return made him teleport into a random world.

And the random world he ended up in is Hermitcraft. Cue the Hermits panicking because of someone suddenly intruding their world because they taught the multidimensional police force, the Vanguard, had finally came to catch the other Hermits. It turned out to be a very wounded Grian and as much they (particularly Xisuma) hated unwanted visitors, they took him in and treated him. Since Mumbo found him, he was the one who gave him a temporary home. When Grian recovered and became more open, well... Mumbo had to deal with a natural mischievous prankster until he built a base of his own (and even then that didn’t stop him). They also noticed he’s a really good builder, so they decided to recruit him into their group (as they also realized that he needed a safe place and group to be with to protect him from whoever he was running away from).

When he finally had the courage to return to the Evo world, he found the world destroyed and deserted. From the wake of the destruction, he knew it was the doing of the Watchers.

Okay, after that info dump, another one incoming in the form of notes! Hooray... I’m sorry for the long post.

When Grian eventually recovered, Mumbo gave him his old clothes and Grian loved the oversized red sweater (seen in the first picture above). When Cleo (who knows her way around sewing clothes) asked him what kind of clothes he want to wear, he requested the same sweater but fitting for his body.

His initial long hair design is based on his former Link skin (seen in Evo). His green shirt design is also based around that skin.

I’m thinking for my next post, I’ll go into detail about the Intertwined Fates AU. It’s more like a MCYT Crossover AU featuring other SMPs other than Hermitcraft, but I’ll be solely focusing on Hermitcraft for now with a sprinkle of the others when needed. So it’s a HC au for now.
