(1) i can imagine jimin trying to be subtle as she can possibly be, knowing how much effect she has on serim, she’s gonna use that for her advantage! picture serim and jimin casually watching tv, sat beside one another. jimin missing the warmth of serim’s hands (we all know she’s not gonna say that out loud, but let’s just ignore that), holds the older’s wrist to bring one of her hands on top of her thigh, serim’s hand slightly smacking her. jimin’s excuse? a fly. and serim will just look at the younger like 🤨 jimin would probably threaten the older to not remove her hand or else she’ll kill one of serim’s plants, and all serim can do is obey. wouldn’t even question jimin’s actions 😭 NOT AT ALL (from time to time, serim would trace circles on jimin’s thigh and all jimin could do is squirm on the inside)

(2) if ever the two would sleep again in one bed (not sexually!) i can also imagine serim’s sleeping body close to jimin, but we all know they cuddle when they sleep tgt so let’s put it like that. serim’s head trapped in the crook of jimin’s neck, her hand peacefully resting on jimin’s stomach while her arm is trapped between the mattress and jimin’s back, her other hand holding the younger’s waist tenderly. and jimin would still not find that enough 😭✋🏼 carefully, she’ll put the hand resting on her stomach close to her mouth, leaving small kisses as she looks at serim’s face, watching to see if the older would wake up cuz of her actions. and the next day she’ll be like, “why the fuck did i do that?”

(if she’s not leaving pecks on serim’s hand, she’ll probably bring it on her neck and move each fingers as if serim’s moving it on her own)

(3) we do know how their company’s kinda on abt the whole fake dating thing, so i can see them ordering the two to be more affectionate in public. serim sticking beside jimin in a party, following her like a lost puppy. and then jimin would find some other artists to talk to, of course serim’s beside her. serim, remembering the orders of the company, will put her hand on jimin’s waist, caressing it. and the younger would bring her hand on top of serim’s guiding her thru her body, leaving serim’s hand on her stomach, making serim lean closer than she already did. i can imagine jimin caressing serim’s hands even without much people around, and her excuse would probably be “company’s order.”

The Grim Reaper and The Swallow Au

Basically the concept of grim reaper is that they used to be people but died and became reapers (idrk why yet)

They retain some of their personalities and stuff but they essentially cannot remember who they are and can't/or unable to question who they used to be

They're also wired to focus on their sole purpose which is to take things who have died into the afterlife (includes animals)

But hb is an exception while he does do what he's supposed to do, he isn't fully committed to it (so that it's still somewhat movie accurate personality with the whole not following order thing HAHSHA)

So essentially the afterlife entities don't exactly like him and humans (that r on verge of death) don't like him cause uknow no one wants to DIE (minus those few exceptions where it's like a nice old grandma dying of old age ueueu)

In terms of what jia is she's like,,,idk a swallow that can shape shift (some magic bs and animal spirits and stuff)

In this world, there are like a select few animals that can shape shift/are sentient (BECAUUUSEE they also used to be humans but we're reborn. The idea is human --> died unfairly --> given a second chance to turn into a shape shifter --> if they do good/don't do anything outrageously bad in the shape shifter life then they are able to be reincarnated into humans in the next life [the bar isn't very high bc they died unfairly in the previous life.])

The animals are primarily animals and can't maintain human forms for that long and generally takes alot of energy to do so

They can also see other supernatural entities but doesn't mean they are necessarily friendly with all of them

So one day hb and jia meet cause yknow Heeheehaahaa

And bc hb is used to other things being scared of him (grim reaper stuff) he's a little confused why she hasn't run/flown away yet.

One is the reincarnation pathway woohoo where jia dies as a swallow and hb takes her to the afterlife (sadly) and after a couple of hundred years probably she is reincarnated but he can never approach her again like he did before

btw the home ending for naomi and satoru would've been fire. like they live the rest of their life regretting the decisions they made. but i think satoru wouldn't be able to handle being away from yn and yui even if that meant being an outsider in their new life alone 🥹

The heroines of both The Grisha Trilogy and The Red Shoes (1948) respectively kinda share the same conflict, despite the stories being set in very different universes with its own circumstances. One is a story set in a 19th century russian-esque fantasy world, the other is set in the ballet world of 1940s UK. Both stories feature female characters who have a special skill/ability which is deemed an essence of their very being, who then become entangled with a scheming older man that elevates their abilities to its full potential, but meanwhile these girls also fall in love with a seemingly good guy, a love that inevitably prunes their abilities. And so they must decide between having love but devoid of their essence, or exploring their essence to its full potential but without love.

“It isn’t something separate from you,” Baghra snapped. “[…] Do you ask your heart to beat or your lungs to breathe? Your power serves you because that is its purpose, because it cannot help but serve you.” (Ch. 13, Shadow and Bone)

- Why do you want to dance? - Why do you want to live? - I don't know exactly why but… I must. - That's my answer too. (The Red Shoes)

What differentiates the stories, other than the environment where they're set, is how each of them deal with this conflict. In TGT this conflict is felt most by the reader than by the heroine herself. The paths that are presented to Alina are embodied by her childhood sweetheart and an older powerful man who ignites her in various ways, both men form a love triangle with Alina where they compete for her, even if each man wants her for very different purposes. Alina knows this but she refuses to grapple with a decision, she already know head-on that Mal is the one, and she mostly just tries to navigate both of these contradictory aspects: the grisha/saint identity as well as her normie boyfriend, despite being constantly warned that this would not be a feasible on the long run.

But in TRS, however, the conflict is deeply felt by the main character as well as the viewer. Also, and this is very important, there isn't really a love triangle in the movie. The main character is divided between her boyfriend and her mentor, who doesn't seem to harbor genuine romantic feelings for Vicky even though he still feels something that borders on obsession for her due to her talent (some people, like myself, interpret this as his own twisted form of romantic love, but I'm going here with what's clearly shown in the movie). The mentor is a bit similar to the Darkling personality-wise. He is a man who has renounced love altogether and lives solely for his job (or as he calls it: his "religion", which is ballet), and he expects his prima-ballerinas to do the same. So when he learns that Vicky has fallen in love with his composer he goes mad and lashes out on both of them, which causes Vicky to readily stand by her boyfriend. But of course things don't stop there as she constantly second-guessing her decision, even when her man tries to deliver on the happiness that he's promised her. The movie is constantly asking us: is it fair to give up your dreams for the sake of love? can you truly be fulfilled in your dream when you have no love?

But why am I making these connections? I suppose because watching this movie made me realize that these sorts of conflicts can never really lead to a happy ending. It's the perfect conflict for a tragedy. I guess one can write an ending where the conflict is resolved by just having the character be allowed to have both. But in my opinion it feels a disingenuous and coward choice to just take the conflict away, without having to face it.

And that's why both The Grisha Trilogy and The Red Shoes end in tragedy. The difference is that the latter is honest in its tragedy, while the former tries to paint the situation as... not exactly happy, but still hopeful, maybe bittersweet, but ultimately ok. It's ok because it was "fair", it was punishment for her "greediness" (she wasn't greedy). Another thing that I think The Red Shoes does better is allowing for the heroine choose. The ending of the movie, albeit sad, is entirely Vicky's choice. The Grisha trilogy doesn't go that way. Instead it does the RS equivalent of having Alina suffer a permanent injury that makes her unable to go on pointe, thus killing her career as a ballet dancer, and then Alina has to settle with her boyfriend after all, living as a shell of herself where she not longer has her essence, and she's not even allowed her own name anymore. But it's ok! she has her (unsupportive) man with her!

So long story short, there is no possible scenario where Alina could've had a happy ending. But we as readers could've a more fulfilling end if only the story were more honest about the ending it was writing. Alina died in every way except physically. It's not a happy ending in any way.

But for that same reason, he's not too fussed about it - official papers or not, they are married in his mind. They've definitely added to their little fam and have a cat in addition to their pup Pascale. The cat absolutely rules their home (as cats are known to do) and is the only one who can get Pascale to stop being mouthy (Huskies you know 😂). Lucas would definitely complain the cat doesn't like him and play up that they have some sort of nemesis relationship. Only Eliott has caught Lucas curled up asleep on the couch with the kitty on his chest wrapped up in his arms more than once. Eliott would be a little jealous about the fact that he's the one who dotes on the kitty but she still seems to be an utter suck for Lucas... only, he's the exact same way so he can't blame her 😌. Second to Lucas, her fave is Idriss. Because this cat has ✨taste✨. I'm trying to think what they would name their kitty... probably something Rapunzel adjacent because they're saps... but I don't have a name popping to mind just yet.

And of course there are the fun dynamics of their relationship that they will probably always be figuring out. Like Lucas realizing (and relishing) in the power he has over Eliott and the way he can make Eliott's brain short circuit in any variety of ways (like saying something incredibly explicit in the middle of much more innocent activities like cooking dinner). Then Eliott will remember he no longer holds his Punzel in the 'look but don't touch' category and things work out quite nicely for both of them 😌. Basically... they're living their best lives figuring out adulthood and now jobs together ❤️.

You're here to ask me the most obvious ones 😭 alright then I'll answer in the most unexpected way ever!

They are my OTP: literally saw them first-hand in game and firmly believed they have chemistry since then. Not influenced by fanart at all bc there was none.

But I don't really dare say they're the best of the OTPs...? Genuinely I think some other pairs (Sonuckles/Knuxouge etc.) has more chemistry and an easier time to figure out how they work.

Espio and Silver supposedly live in different timelines, and Espio didn't even appear in games that often. Their chances of seeing each other is far lower than a lot of others;

They're not as sociable as Sonic or Amy, or any other talkative characters. They can't just meet each other on a whim. We have to think of a valid reason for them to meet in fanfics, with Silver's persistence on his time travel mission and Espio's ninja detective work in mind;

They're kinda too nice with each other, the enemies to lovers troupe wouldn't really fit in their current canon situation, neither does having major rivalries, conflicts, or any kind of tension. Obviously they can still have those, it's just harder to imagine them in these roles compared to others imo.

Ofc, they're still my obvious best of OTP in my brain, but if we're discussing the variety of them being a pair, then they're not higher than other ships.

CUTENESS OVERLOAD: That is true bc I literally ship them as OTP. But actually, I ship them in the angsty way first, did not imagine them with a happy ending due to their roles and burdens. Drew Silver dying in Espio's hands back in 2016, definitely not wholesome & cute haha

As to why this ship got popular, I couldn't help but think it was related with ppl wanting to support unpopular ships as an ally, moreso than actually liking the ship? Ofc, it's definitely not me who can decide what ppl ship them for, I wouldn't care that much as long as the ship gets more love! Actually I do care but I don't wanna gatekeep ppl for being not genuine and I don't wanna know if I'm actually wrong on that so by not dwelling on that I avoided the problems and consequences that might bring to me including those I do not forsee

We all know Jenny wrote both Jere and Belly to ruin them both so bonrad could happen. Book 2 was series finale of the books after that they were happy and free of Conbad.

I have a lot of feelings about the ending.

Bonrad stans try to rewrite bonrad as healthy and loving while trying to make Jere into a villain.

They need to stop confusing a "it is what it is" ending with a "happy" ending and two people ending tgt as a superior ship.

I think there's a lot of nostalgia tying bonrad tgt. I don't think they're compatible in the present.

Jere is the one who helps Belly see herself outside of this summer house bubble.

Plus time being the only measure of a successful relationship just isn't it I feel. Jelly were very honest in their relationship. Some longterm and married couples couldn't be as open and honest as jelly were tbh. Like even with all her communication issues, Belly was still very honest with him and I have to appreciate her for that. So I don't like to label jelly's relationship as something that failed despite the breakup happening coz their relationship was a very happy and healthy one. Even Belly admits in book 3 that they really, truly loved each other and truly had the best of intentions despite of how things turned out.

Now that the objective part is over, I as a reader ofc have my own subjective views and I feel the ending was very unfair because it was only possible to achieve through character assassination of numerous well developed characters. And even keeping my bias towards jelly ship aside, it was super unfair to end Belly with an insufferable man who belittled her the whole time and made her feel insecure on so many occasions. Like idc if the narrative tried to sell the he loves her thing to me, I wouldn't acknowledge it as love if you behave that way to a person you claim to love. Both Han Ji Pyeong in startup (kdrama) and Conrad in tsitp weren't in love with the respective female leads (as they thought they were) and that's a stance I would always maintain. Both of these men were infantalizing the women instead of believing in/respecting their choices and agency. It's just that ofc startup was such a great show that handled its female lead beautifully and tsitp could never lmao.

- yeah so genya isn't quite at ayame's skill level, on account of not being able to use total concentration breathing. but this is also genya pre-puberty (or pre-noticing how cute girls can be) and so he finds himself more jealous of ayame than anything

- you'd think they wouldn't get along, seeing how terribly their first meeting went in fits canon, but actually, despite genya's jealousy, ayame and genya get along really well. it helps that they are both self-aware enough to realise how weak they are, and they're both trying to figure out - in their own ways - how to get stronger

- well, not entirely in their own way. ayame and genya both help each other a lot, offering tips and encouragement. they're both just so off-handed and aloof about it that their shishous don't realise they're friends until they both set off for their final selections

- and u know, speaking of genya's jealousy of ayame, i bet it all gets turned around the day ayame comes back from okutama an orphan. by then, the rumours have spread throughout the ranks of the hashiras, although only a handful of people will realise what that means to anyone - and to ayame in particular

- in this au, i still think that ayame and tanjirou would be close. maybe not quite as close as they are in fits canon, but they can always count on each other as family

- the only major change, i guess, would be that genyame go on their first mission tgt, and ayame is a lil more absent from tanjirou's side during rehabilitation arc; she would be splitting her time between training her friends and hounding genya about his meetings/appointments/sessions with shinobu

- i can see ayame and sanemi's r/ship taking a turn for the worse though. ayame gets a chance to be close to genya, which is all sanemi wants and could have if he wasn't such an idiot about it. ayame also can't stand the fact that sanemi would push away his only living sibling, when she would do anything she could to hold on as tight as she can. i bet things between sanemi and genya can't really escalate bc genya is too busy mediating between his older brother and his, uh, best friend/crush/potential love of his life (?)

I love the pettiness of them having a telepathic bond and using it for fucking psychological warfare. Or well the Darkling does. Alina takes way too long to catch on and needle him as much. I wish she’d gotten the chance to fuck him up more. But anyway I generally find it so funny how much of the dynamic relies on her just being… fairly normal and then he’s Like That.

I love Alina as the constantly weirded out, narrative and comedic straight main to his supervillain melodrama.

Nikolina

This has been my TGT OTP for awhile, me and like five other people lmao. I like it most in AU and canon divergent scenarios tbh, partially because their dynamic is really chill and I love conflict and angst. I like it when there’s some aspect of pining, unrequited feelings, or just the shadow of other issues looming over the relationship. Like I love this ship in situations where they’re PerseveringTM together despite The Horrors, basically?

And I mean I’ve already talked a few times about how I really like their polar opposite priorities and ambitions. They contrast each other fairly strongly while still getting along very well. And that’s something I usually find very compelling. I like this ship most for AUs where they like self actualize/compromise/learn to cope with shared trauma etc. I want them to work through shit and learn to be happy!

Zoyalina

Rivals to lovers is soooo fun! Alina can’t go two minutes without mentioning how hot Zoya is. And I think LB genuinely meant it more for reader info/to get into Alina’s insecurity but it reads SO gay.

There’s like two main dynamics I really like for them. Okay three. But one is like a riff on early SAB era, where they bond while still both under the Darkling’s thumb, despite being pitted against each other. The other is like leaning into a devotion, saint and warrior/bodyguard/devotee type thing. Third is post R&R Alina retreating to her orphanage and it being explicit in the epilogue that Zoya visits and writes and even gives her a kefta because she’ll always be Grisha. And idk I’m just obsessed with Zoya, who’s so unused to that sort of kindness, being gentle or drawing her out of her shell in her own gruff way.

Genyalina

I love them!!! But also the plot just doesn’t give me much to work with past SaB. That inherent conflict of Genya lying to her and never sending Alina’s letters, while genuinely connecting with her is SO good. I love it, and that’s my favorite dynamic for them. And I also love the explicit comparison drawn between Genya’s own trauma and being exploited by the king, and Alina being groomed by the Darkling even if Alina’s not herself fully like cognizant of it. (Kind of similar to the SaB era Zoyalina dynamic, girls connecting over being manipulated and controlled by men/the same man even is a dynamic that I find very compelling) But past that point in the series I don’t have as much like… thoughts about them? I still love them and love when they interact but it doesn’t intrigue me in the same way.

Zoyanikolina

Okay okay maybe this is the real OTP… OT3… series ship of all time. KoS (more the idea of it than the execution) did convert me to Zoyalai to an extent, the pining is soooo good. And I already love Zoyalina and Nikolina separately so obvs the best way to go here is to smoosh them all together lmao.

My fave take is facilitated through a Nikolina political marriage that’s kind of complicated for everyone involved. And meanwhile Alina seeing all the insane pining going down and being like. Well. Are you going to do something about this or???

I may be writing this lmao so I’m generally thinking about it a lot. But Alina being the most emotionally intelligent one while simultaneously very NOT self aware about her own feelings is just very funny to me.

Zoyalarkling

So having confirmed that this is Zoya/Alina/Darkling hm! Hm! Not sure I can see this one except in very very particular circumstances. I feel like the Zoyalina dynamic when they’re both still into the Darkling is defined by rivalry and being in competition with each other. So I don’t think they’d be… happy about a poly scenario. But also the Darkling’s probably TERRIBLE enough to be like Ah yes here is my teenaged harem. So I could see a very fucked up version. Meanwhile I just don’t get the sense that Zoya harbors like any attraction whatsoever for him the way Alina does after Everything Goes Down. I could see some kind of insane hate fucking scenario, but like only very particularly?

I can’t help but make Hannibal comparisons when I think of KoS type scenarios/anything where they keep the Darkling jailed. But I could see Zoya as his jailor being very interesting (Chilton or Alana Bloom esque) And we canonically have him like demanding to see Alina, though again canon didn’t do nearly enough with it. So could I see a weird psychosexual SOTL/NBC Hannibal arc for these three? Mayhaps.

Darknikolina

Love them! I’m generally a fan of Darklolai and I think there’s a lot of very interesting unexplored territory in terms of what the dynamic between Nikolai and the Darkling even is. LB, even in KoS, tends to skirt around how they perceive each other fairly carefully? I think probably because she knows how much it’d expose the painfully thin politics and court set up lmao. But I think there’s room for very personal loathing —> fascination.

Anyway I am really interested in circumstances where like Nikolina get married For Politics and then the Darkling’s just in jail 5ever and things get weird. Or alternatively (I basically wrote this already) but a bad ending scenario where the Darkling wins and they’re both basically his captives.

I think there’s also a lot of mileage to be gotten out of the Darkling basically lying dormant inside Nikolai lmao/at least some of his power remaining there. And there are interesting body sharing weirdness places you could go with that. And complicate it even further by bringing Alina into the mix.

Kazper

This was probably my favorite SoC ship dynamic lmaoooo which I mean I knew was never going anywhere! But then gets further tanked by the clear comparison between Jesper and Jordie. I just really liked that initial pining set up where Jesper was desperate to prove himself to Kaz, to just get him to at all give him the time of day. And Kaz is just… frankly kind of cruel to him! Idk the conflict was really interesting. I would’ve loved to see the dynamic explored

Wesper

Eh. I didn’t really like them in the books tbh? I think they had some effective scenes in CK particularly but also like it wasn’t effective in a shippy sense to me necessarily. I did actually like them in the show a lot! So that’s made me more partial to it. But it’s still just not something I’d bother to think about outside of actually watching the show/reading the books.

More Blazar Leaks + Agul SV-focused live action installment

This apparently comes from one of the toy dealers that were present at the Blazar press conference (note that we do get legit leaks from toy dealers as well)

Ok there's actually a silver lining here for New Gen Gaia fans

But first let's talk about Blazar

So his series is still gonna be similar to Zi O and deals with parallel worlds (similar setting to the Gaia movie)

However, the histories of the New Gen Heroes have changed, for example for episode 1-6:

1. Hikaru will have a cameo showing that he's a famous adventurer just like what he wanted to be originally, its just that in this timeline, he never encountered Ginga

2. Daichi is a scientist and still lives with his parents and has never encountered X

3. Riku (as Geed still) has joined Belial's side as a villain on their conquest to conquer the Multiverse as he never met his friends

So essentially it's gonna be reimaginations of the hosts/ultras themselves if things worked out differently

But considering that they're skipping Victory here, I suppose they'll also essentially be skipping the secondary NG ultras like as said Victory, Grigio, potentially both Titus and Fuma as well as Trigger Dark (also Dinas if he turns out to be a secondary ultra)

(They'll probably do Rosso and Blu tgt)

Assuming this pace of 2 episodes per cameo is consistent, all this is gonna add up to wrapping up all the cameos by episode 16, which conveniently is usually where most NG Ultras get their Super forms

Can definitely foresee asks discussing about what woud be the possible reimaginations of the other New Gen would be

Tho there's no info what Blazar's gimmick is yet, tho it's probably gonna be something more similar to Ginga's (Storium Brace) or Taiga's

And the parallel universes/AU settings is literally just heavily hinting at some form of Absolutian involvement as well, especially since UGF4 will most likely be coming in 2024 and Diablo had a cameo in Trigger last year for UGF3 earlier this year if yall rmb

Gaia and Agul will be featured in an unspecified installment (maybe a movie or a special episode?) where Agul SV would be the main feature in 2023
