This scene in Fan Fiction is interesting because it’s when Dean finds out that people ship Cas and him together and they have a ship name for it. He’s not mad or pissed off he’s more curious about it. Even before he found out the two girls are girlfriends in real life he wasn’t mad or pissed off about Destiel. It’s more like he didn’t realize that all those moments between Cas and him were written in the Supernatural books (up to the end of season 5 anyways).
Tumblr media
This shows that the writers and actors know about Destiel and Destiel fan fiction but it also shows that Dean is fine with it and so is Jensen (Jensen has said quite a few times especially this year that he is fine with Destiel).
Tumblr media
This is hilarious. Sam is trying to figure out what Cas and Deans ship name should be and he knows that Dean is getting flustered by it. Dean tells Sam to shut up and Sam laughs. It’s the little brother making fun of the older brother for having a boyfriend kind of thing. I would have loved to have seen Cas in this ep. It would’ve been hilarious to watch Dean and Sam trying to explain shipping to Cas and explain ship names to Cas.
Tumblr media
This scene is great Dean looks directly at the girl playing Cas and says to put as much text into that subtext. Again showing that he’s fine with Destiel. I have more thoughts on this ep but I’m going to keep them to myself because I think I’ll piss some people off if I say them.
Tumblr media
This scene in Girls, Girls, Girls is kind of annoying. I don’t like Hannah because she can’t take a hint. Cas has told her soooo many times that he only likes her as a friend, she’s the one that told Cas not to lose it over one man, she heard the Metatron saying that Cas did everything for Dean and she knew that at the beginning of the season that Cas was sick yet he did everything he could to help Dean become human again. Here she tries to say that all her feelings for Cas weren’t actually her feelings that they were coming from the human she was possessing which I think she lied about. I think she didn’t want to be on earth anymore and it stead of embarrassing herself she came up with this excuse because when Cas was possessing Jimmy the feelings Cas has for Dean weren’t Jimmys feelings considering I don’t think Jimmy even likes Dean.
Tumblr media
I’m just adding this in from Hibbing 911 because it’s another gay scene well it was 2 scenes. The cop guy was obviously flirting with Dean when he said it was cute for Dean to try and find a case there but then Dean knew the best way to get information out of the cop was to flirt so that’s what he did by sucking up to the cop but here the cop had just walked past Dean and Dean clearly looks at the guys ass.
Tumblr media
I think this ep is called The Things We Left Behind. This scene makes me extremely happy. Cas told Claire that Jimmy is dead and in heaven because an arch angel killed him on a sub atomic level but he was brought back and that that body was specifically made for him. I absolutely love that Cas has his own body now. He’s not possessing Jimmy anymore. That that brain is his brain all his feelings are his feelings. I assumed after Cas was blown up in season 5 ep 1 (Chuck told Dean that Cas was blown up but they didn’t show it which is why I’m assuming they go with when Cas was blown up at the end of season 5) that Jimmy was dead but to hear Cas say it and to say that that body was made for him just made me extremely happy.
Tumblr media
Another scene where Sam is there yet Cas is just talking to Dean. Cas called Dean and Sam to come help him yet he was looking directly at Dean when Cas said he needed Deans help. Then Sam came up with a plan for Dean and him to go to the group home to find Claire but Dean obviously wanted some alone time with Cas because he gave Sam the keys and told him Cas and him would stay there. Sounds like Dean wanted an unofficial date with Cas.
Tumblr media
This is beyond cute. Cas gave Dean a compliment and Dean got flustered. Dean obviously wanted this to be his alone time with Cas because up until Cas asked Dean how he was they were talking about random stuff and flirting. I also love that they cant hide how sick they are from each other. At the end of season 9 when Cas told Dean he was fine Dean knew he was lying and then Cas told him the truth the same thing happens here. Cas asks Dean how he’s doing and Dean says he’s great and Cas said no you’re not. Cas knew Dean was lying and Dean asked him if he turns into a demon again for Cas to kill him which Dean knows Cas can’t kill him considering Cas couldn’t kill Dean when he was being mind controlled to kill Dean there’s no way in hell he’d be able to do it when he’s himself.
Tumblr media
It looks like Sam was expecting Dean to tell Cas to let go of the guy but instead Dean is impressed and I think a little turned on.

spn s10 spoilers
s10 ep1(black)
i knew we would get demon dean but i thought a demon possessed dean. i didnt think dean would become a demon. he is with crowley and he left sam and cas. sam lost control. cas is not okay. i love crowley's humor. i dont like hannah. Daniel died because of her. Daniel and Cas were talking properly, the others disrupted it. dean wouldnt leave his brother. this isnt dean.
s10 ep2(reichenbach)
dean killed a human! and he enjoyed it. dean is happy, i guess. he doesnt care about his past, so he is happy. crowley misses dean. its just a car?!? i want old dean back. i need him.
s10 ep3(soul survivor)
crowley really loved dean. crowley saved cas. Cas arrived just in time. is dean fully cured? i hope he is. i can see the difference between demondean and dean in his eyes. I miss Dean even if it's only 3 episodes. i'm glad he's back. okay sam calls dean his brother and he cares about him. cas is okay. dean is good. im happy. rowena! this is my first time watching spn but i always see spoilers so i know her name but i dont know who she is and i didnt think we would see her this early. i was just thinking when is Charlie coming. we got rowena instead of Charlie.
s10 ep4(paper moon)
why didnt sam go with dean? he did go. Then why did he say call me if things don't go well? i thought we wouldnt see kate again. I didn't like it when Dean lied. Tasha may be a monster, but Kate is no monster. and we didnt see rowena.
s10 ep5(fan fiction)
we got work to do. he said it. im so excited. The moment they realized it was their own story was priceless. and the looks afterwards. i love deans reactions so much. dean looked at the camera. i hate when they dont believe sam and dean are sam and dean. becky and marie their favorite is sam. How come not a fan whose favorite is Dean showed up? yes, adam when will they save him? carry on was the best part here. and the amulet. chuck🥹.
s10 ep6(ask jeeves)
in some of the earlier episodes shapeshifters did not shed their skin. I was wondering how this happens there too. Then I thought they would probably continue like this and forgot about it. but now they are shedding their skin again. why is this so?
s10 ep7(girls, girls, girls)
i like rowena. angels and demons they ruin the lives of the people they posses. If she was going to let go of the body, why didn't she let go before she destroyed her life? i love dean. he was telling the guy what he wanted to hear. and thats exactly what he did with sam. he means those words. and thats probably true. Just before Crowley said, when the music came on, I knew Rowena was Crowley's mother. wow. I didn't know until the last minute that this would happen.
s10 ep8(hibbing 911)
jody and donna, i like them. dean is hunter he always will be. and he is the best hunter.
s10 ep9(the things we left behind)
i knew kathryn Newton was in supernatural but i didnt think she was jimmy's daughter. its so nice to see winchesters laugh. i love dean and cas' friendship. i dont care what anyone says john was a good father. dean and sam loved him and he loved them. he was trying to protect them. sometimes he did bad things but he always loved them. i love crowley and rowena's Accent. dean lost himself, again. Didn't Cain say that once Dean was done with the mark, he would take it from him?
s10 ep10(the hunter games)
did crowley really trust rowena? The woman with Claire looks like Katniss.
s10 ep11(there's no place like home)
yes, Charlie. I was wondering when we would see her. Dean is innocent next to the dark Charlie. dean… charlie is their little sister.
s10 ep12(about a boy)
yong dean actor is perfect. The actors who played younger Sam and Dean were always excellent. polite dean. He was always polite when he needed to be polite. So Dean's swiftie days started here. hansel and gretel! i knew we would get the last car scene but i think it would be in another ep. but it was great to see.
s10 ep13(halt & catch fire)
i just watched ghostbusters for the first time before watching this ep. they were smart they make Money when they're saving people and people believe there are ghost. i wish people believed monsterrs in this universe and hunters could earn Money while saving people. and they wouldnt get any trouble while lying. they wouldnt even need to lie. but still theyre saving people while living miserable lives.
i love gen x dean. he knows his movies shows and music the rest dosnt matter. he gave up but im sure theyll find something, but idk if its a cure.
s10 ep14(the executioner's song)
dean is so calm after killing cain. he is scaring me. he keeps so much to himself. no one can help him but himself i know but he could at least talk to sam and cas. but he wont.
s10 ep15(the things they carried)
people dont want to see winchesters. where there is a winchester there is a trouble. yes they are not the cause of the problem(usually) but they are always there to solve the problem. and thats why i love them. they are brave sweet caring kind… they are everything.
s10 ep16(paint it black)
crowley loves winchesters. sam cares about dean. i love him again. i love caring sam.
s10 ep17(inside man)
Cas is wearing a tie. i was sure we wouldnt see bobby again. but here we are. i missed him. hello boys, I assume rowena got this from crowley. bobby said what could be worse? i hope we wont learn that. i hope we can see bobby again. dean and crowley in a bar they yalked like they were old friends and i think that was nice. and crowley believed dean instead of his mother well that was the logical choice but still he chose dean. i love crowley. ş hope cas can get his grace back.
s10 ep18(book of the damned)
The hoodie suits Dean so good. first faith then now. It looks good no matter what he wears, but a hoodie is different. i hate metatron. he ran, again. where's the backup phone dean? yes Charlie and cas are bff's now. i thought sam would ask crowley. rowena is not good.
s10 ep19(the werther project)
it was nice to see benny well he wasnt benny but still it was nice. i hope sam wont kill crowley. dean really loves purgatory i think this is because he is a hunter and thats all he knows and he enjoys being a hunter.
s10 ep20(angel heart)
Can't Cas use his powers to find claire? when i started watching spn i was seeing spoilers. Äą learnt cas was coming before s3. and i thought he would travel sam and dean everywhere. but he is not. we are seeing him do little. i wish we could see him more in the future.
s10 ep21(dark dynasty)
normally i wouldnt support sam because he is lying to dean but there is no other way yet at least. so go sam save dean. is charlie dead? she cant be. she is not dead cas could save her right? We saw very little of her. I want to spend more time with her.
s10 ep22(the prisoner)
she is dead! she cant be dead. i cant blame sam. He was the one who involved Charlie but charlie idk i just cant blame sam. Couldn't Cas have saved Charlie? no i cant accept charlie's death. i wont. I thought we would spend more time with Charlie. i kill gods. he is not wrong. im glad crowley is alive but he changed. i wish he would stay the way he was. dean lost control again but they were monsters so its okay i guess. Charlie cant be dead. That's all I could think about during the entire episode. dean killed the kid. I thought he would come to his senses while talking to the kid. Dean isn't completely gone, he can be saved. Charlie cant be dead. why didnt cas save her. when she died gadreel brought her back. Why didn't they bring her back this time?
s10 ep23(brother's keeper)
Dean didn't want Rudy to die either, this is the Dean we know, but his attitude when pushing him away must have been mark's influence. my dean wouldnt let rudy die. he would talk and save rudy. i need my old dean back. crowley loves dean. "i think i just killed death"why dean? he usually tries to help you. why did you kill him? dean confuses me. rowena really doesnt love crowley. Dean agreed. Both the world and Dean would have been saved, but now they have to save the world from what they themselves caused. dean why? i was okay, dean was okay sam and even death was okay with the plan and then dean just killed death, why? i know he loves his brother he would never kill him but he summoned death he asked him favor and then just killed him. World is a mess, rowena escaped, crowley and cas are not okay, sam and dean who knows what happened and Charlie is still dead. i cant wait what will happen in next season.

1x09 Home was a pretty lackluster ep on this rewatch i gotta say. like for the premise, there was SO much more they could've done. they're going home !!!!!!!!! they're going back to where it all started !!!!!!! after dean swore he would never go back !!!!!! after you can never go home. AND this is the first ep we get introduced to sam's psychic visions !! AND the first ep we see john back on screen since the pilot. AND they literally meet mary's ghost !!!! so many really great and tasty plot elements and they barely played with them. it mostly just felt like a generic case. even the "monster" wasn't interesting, just a random poltergeist. this could've been an opportunity to open up the plot to the yellow eyes / special children story arc. mary's ghost could've given them some sort of clue to point them in the direction of azazel.
also, as much as i understand sam atm is functioning as "the main character" and the vehicle for the audience, i really think this ep should've been a bit more dean-centric, all my deangirlism aside like, dean is the one with actual memories of that house and the night of the fire. i think it should've been way more traumatic for him, going back there, and we should've gotten to see that. i also think he should've had more time with mary's ghost. well, i think both of them should have had more time with her. there was room for there to be a really emotionally charged scene between all three of them but it just felt...lacking.
the emotional highlight for me the whole episode was dean's phone call to john and just the raw vulnerability of it. he's so lost, he looks like a scared little kid in that moment, and he just wants his dad to help him, please. another highlight for me was the callback to john saying "take your brother outside as fast as you can, and don't look back." literally word for word, sam says this to the little girl, echoing john and putting himself in john's shoes, which just reinforces the ongoing theme so far of sam following john down this road for revenge post-jess's death. but also this whole scene is great because sam is simultaneously also echoing dean from the pilot, since sam goes to save the kid(s), while dean echoes john in a way by going into the house and trying to save the blonde mom (though also fulfills his own childhood desire to save his mom. hello remember how he always wanted to be a firefighter :( anyways this time he succeeds and saves the mom!!)
but yea, i feel like this ep would've functioned better if they used it to tie into the larger season arc w/ azazel and the special children instead of just treating it like another random MOTW episode. in fact, i'm thinking.........the new people who lived in their old house should've been one of the special children. could've been max from 1x14 Nightmare !! they literally could've just planted all of that ep into their old house and then thrown in mary's ghost to help save them and maybe reveal something abt azazel and it would've been very delicious

12x11 I enjoyed this ep although I can see if it might seem too silly to some. The beginning is a fun twist on the “exposition to get the audience up to speed on the case” opening for many eps. Dean having memory problems makes the exposition natural, we know that Dean was hit by a spell so something is up, and then we get to the “Who’s Dean?” and it’s Oh Shit. The eventual turn towards the dramatic was fun—Jensen must’ve had a great time getting to act silly and then the emotional slap of Dean’s monologue at the mirror, trying to remember who he is but failing.
The “Dean as a killer” thread is very blatant this season. I’ve been hesitant about it, because I’ve seen a not insignificant amount of fandom meta that takes the worst, most uncharitable interpretation of this idea / Dean’s characterization. But so far I don’t think the show supports such an uncharitable read, tbh. For instance, I didn’t realize it’s not just Dean who gets framed as a killer, but Mary too. The link between being a hunter / killer, both Mary and Dean framed as diving into hunting instead of dealing w/ their feelings, being drawn to the violence and thrill of hunting in that way, that’s all wrapped up in the “X as a killer” theme. I mentioned “Dean as a killer” as being about Dean as a soldier back w/ my Mark of Cain meta, and that read still works in this season, in both Dean and Mary being soldiers and the tragedy of them being raised as child hunters (although that tragedy is definitely under-emphasized as compared to early seasons). Sam is framed in contrast, with his maybe wanting a life after hunting and that being something Dean and Mary don’t expect at all. There was Sam and Dean’s convo from 12x06 around dying on a hunt being “the best way to go” against Sam’s questioning, or the 12x11 “DEAN: Huh. Well, look, was it nice to drop our baggage? Yeah, maybe. Hell, probably. But it wasn't just the crap that got lost. I mean, it was everything. It was us, it was what we do, you know? All of it. So... that's what being happy looks like? I think I'll pass.” which reminded me of Mary’s comment in the next ep: “SAM: Wait, Mom? Uh... I just wanted to make sure that, um... you’re okay. I mean, I know... you never really wanted this. / MARY: Since when is life about getting what you want?”
speaking of 12x12, the structure of this ep was a nice change of pace. “Everything’s going to be fine” CUT TO everything not being fine. Bringing back Yellow-Eyed Demons… makes sense, in terms of Mary’s character and her trauma. And as an “oh shit, Mary got the group into something that hurt them without their knowledge” and how it calls back to Azazel, the original Yellow Eyes, Mary’s deal w/ him being the spark that lit the doomed fire that burned through the rest of the family…
Also my question of if they were writing Cas as in love with Dean as of S12… Cas’s little monologue when he thinks he’s going to die and wants everyone to run (CAS: No, you listen to me. You– Look, thank you. Thank you. Knowing you, it... it’s been the best part of my life. And the things that... [inhales sharply] the things we’ve shared together, they have changed me. You’re my family. I love you. I love all of you. Just please... please, don’t make my last moments be spent watching you die. Just run. Save yourselves. And I will hold Ramiel off as long as I can.”), I could see how one could interpret the “I love you. I love all of you.” as being about Cas being in love w/ a particular person (obviously Dean) and then loving Sam and Mary, too, in a platonic familial way. It’s ambiguous and there’s certainly enough plausible deniability, but. I do wonder.

For the people choosing Misha, I have to ask, what exactly do you consider good acting, or consistency?
Let’s do a little comparison between how Misha and Jared play different characters, shall we? I’m going to consider not just "they are different than the normal version of the character" but also if the difference makes sense in context of the show where this version of the character appears.
I’ll do this under the cut since I’m adding what will likely be a long post to someone else’s post.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Misha:
Jimmy - This character is definitely different than Castiel, and well-acted. He shows nuance and emotions that are appropriate to the circumstances ✔️
The End "Hippy" Cass - (technically Cas, but depowered) very different than normal Cass. Misha does well here, showing a both over the top hedonist Cass, but also one who is generally exasperated and amused-in-a-vague way. I find this part enjoyable and it makes sense (mostly) for a Castiel without powers at the end of the world, where all is futile. ✔️
Godstiel - He is both normal Cass but different than normal Castiel at the same time, there are moments where he gives that sense of power and menace, but it also edges into being too campy at times for me ➖/ ✔️
Lucifer - I find this portrayal of Lucifer inconsistent and too edging into "funny." It’s more a mimicry/parody of Mark P’s performance than making the character his own. He is channeling Hellucifer (not Lucifer as we know him at that point), with often over-exaggerated speech and expressions/movements. I found he did this part well, with some subtlety, in "The Vessel" but otherwise it was mostly silly and ott. Remember kids, imitating (copycatting) another actor is not the same as creating a resemblance but making the part your own . ➖
The Empty - the need to put on a (bad) accent to keep which character one is playing straight, when playing two characters who are talking to each other, is not actually good acting, see Jensen in "Dream a Little Dream of Me" and "The End", Jared in "Swan Song" and "The Man Who Knew Too Much" and Jake Abel as Michael talking to Adam (I don’t remember the ep title) for stronger examples of how to do this effectively. (The Empty Cass gives me secondhand embarrassment.) ❌
Apocalypse World Castiel - again, what accent is that? The accent makes literally no sense for the chracter unless AU Jimmy (whose vessel this Castiel also inhabits) is German for some reason, and this character is way over the top. It’s got no nuance and is more like he’s mimicking/parodying some other actor from some other genre. Full campy territory. ❌
I am not including a human Castiel or Crazzy Castiel, as they are just Cass dialed up or down a little.
Jared:
Meg - Jared is both subtle and scary in this role. Particularly in the scene with Jo, he goes from "trying" to be Sam, to full on menace, to having a feminine edge, to flipping back into "desperate Sam" when Dean shows up. There are moments where you can see he is Nicki Acox's Meg ✔️
Tall Tales Sam - I’m including this because this is an example of the appropriate use of campiness and being over the top. Jared goes for it in this episode but it makes sense because Dean is describing Sam in the ways Jared plays him. Also, it’s hilarious ✔️
Lucifer - while I’m not sure he’s my favorite Lucifer actor, Jared brings quiet menace, gloating condescension, and rage to the role in appropriate measures at the right time, depending which episode we are talking about. I can even see hints of how Mark P plays him, but it isn’t copy-cat mimicry, which is more interesting. ✔️
Soulless Sam - he’s chilling, he’s amusing, he’s Sam …but not. Watching him play Soulless is fascinating because he even plays a Soulless Sam who is trying to pretend to be normal Sam, but still feeling … off. It takes a lot of skill to portray all that goes on with the character, and he does it for half a season. He is consistent and great. ✔️
Ezekiel/Gadreal - Jared plays the angel with a stiffness and formality that feels appropriate for an angel who has been locked away for malenia. He also gives off a sense of naivety and reluctant-coldness. He also shared this role with another actor, and while I think his chanelling Nicki and Mark P are more clear than Tahmoh, I still believe they are the same character. While, I think Jared does a great job in this role, I don’t enjoy it as much as others, but it’s still very well done. ✔️
Justin Smith - this role is defiantly campy, but it’s in keeping with the episode. I find this portrayal enjoyable, if not particularly nuanced. I think Jared is really fun here, but it also feels a little more Jared than Sam to me, so for the sake of fairness I won’t give it a full check (even though he deserves one for the fun of the role) ➖
I’ll admit, I’m not a totally unbiased observer here, but to have that many people saying Misha is the strongest at playing different characters when he has at least two ACTUALLY BAD examples of acting in his list makes no sense. At all.

Have you watched ep 2 yet! How great is it?! I hope you've been squeeing over it too! Wanted to ask what you thought of the info we got from Tul in the classroom scene with Win. Apparently Win's behaviour with Team is not the norm, to the point where Tul and Dean who are perhaps closest have noticed it and warned him.
HELLO ANON. IT IS WEDNESDAY AND I HAVE NOW SEEN EPISODE TWO…MORE THAN ONE TIME.
IT IS, INDEED, GREAT.
I ALSO CONTINUE TO BELIEVE I AM HALLUCINATING ALL OF THIS.
I'm going to take your ask as an opportunity to talk about Win a frankly startling amount. (I mean, not really. It's me. And Win is my favorite boy. I'm just happy to have a long-form platform to talk about Win for as long as I like. :D)
One thing I've been musing about over the past few days is how Win isn't actually that different from who we saw in UWMA. We get a few hints that Win's personality is different outside of his relationships with Team and Dean. We just don't see him very much because UWMA wasn't his story, so whenever we do see him, he's either with his best friend or the boy he's smitten with. That colors how he acts as well as how we see him.
Another point of interest is that because WinTeam got so little screentime (37 minutes – I made a spreadsheet), their scenes in UWMA are vastly spread out. This means that every time we see WinTeam interact in UWMA, there've been weeks or months in between. Like, episode one of BU covers about two weeks or so? And from the beginning of the episode to the end we watch Team go from politely addressing Win as "P'Win" to sleeping with him and forevermore switching to "Hia Win". Meanwhile, we only see snippets of them in UWMA's first episode. We see Team stare at Win for the first time in astonishment (relatable) and then at the end of the episode we see their first scene together with the leum kleum. That's weeks after they met, and we didn't see any of their interactions in between.
(SIDE NOTE: There's one small inconsistency between early UWMA and BU, and that's that in UWMA Team is already calling Win "hia" before the training camp. Maybe Sheep decided not to confuse the UWMA audience with Team randomly going from "P'Win" to "Hia Win"…or she hadn't made that story choice yet. We do know that in Hemp Rope, the narrative makes a point to mention that Team's already the only one outside Win's family who calls him "hia" before they've hooked up, so my guess is that the P'Win–>Hia Win switch is brand new canon that LazySheep developed for Between Us. And I love it. :D)
And of course there's Boun himself. In a recent interview about BU, he said that he put a lot of his own personality into his depiction of Win in UWMA because he didn't have a finished story or a major character arc to work off of. He was also quite new to acting, so I imagine he was having fun with some scenes by experimenting and testing what worked and didn't work, especially during his interactions with Prem, who had never acted in anything before, and was still quite quiet and absorbing the whole experience like an adorable sponge. What I'm saying here is that a big part of Win's charm in UWMA was thanks to Boun being naturally ridiculously charismatic. But he seems to have done a lot more character work to prepare for Between Us, so I think some people see the jump in skill level and see it as a whole different character.
But just for fun, here are some moments in UWMA that I think faithfully reflect what we've seen of Win so far in the first two episodes of BU:
We have this moment in episode 3 of UWMA before and then right after Team and Pharm walk up to Win:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's standing apart from the rest of the club members, just kind of being unapproachable and scowly while he watches Dean. I think he's concerned, but it definitely comes across as Terrifying instead.
He doesn't smile until he's talking to Team – The One with Whomst He Is Smitten – about Pharm – The One with Whomst His Best Friend Is Smitten.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BU Win: Hello, small interloper. I ate the sandwich you gave him and then I bought him different food. >:)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So anyway, the training camp happens in episode three of UWMA and episode two of BU, and the way Win smiles at Team in both is similar. A little playful, a little fond. Team is the exception, though, not the rule.
Vice President Win:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think based on the two episodes we have and considering the inconsistencies I mentioned above, Win's character isn't super different, we're just seeing more of him as a person independent of who he is to Team or Dean.
Oh, and his reputation for being strict with the club (and Team) is also mentioned in UWMA!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In episode 10, Dean tells Team he'll have Win coach him, and Team requests mercy. In episode 2 of BU, Bee complains about Win being harsh, too. Consistency! \:D/
This took a bit of a departure from your ask, Anon, sorry! It's just something I've been thinking about and I finally have a day free to lounge around and write about my favorite son. :')
I think Win's own admission in the first episode of BU says it all: he doesn't expect permanence for himself. He expects everyone to come and go, and right now, I think he's starting to see Team as someone he doesn't want to go, but given his consistent theme of giving Team the choice in both UWMA and BU, he won't stop him if Team ever wants to leave.
AND I'M READY TO BE EMOTIONAL WITH HIM FOR EVERY STEP OF THIS JOURNEY.
Oh, and just for giggles:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dean: He's our club member. Win: lol I know, we had sex where you're standing.

Do you have any favorite fics that show what would’ve happened in/after 2x09 if Beth didn’t totally freeze Rio out?
Hi! Yes! There are so many great fics that diverge from canon with 2.09, especially one-shots that really pivot the end of the sequence overall. Here are some of my faves:
when the party's over by rebellking. Rio refuses to let Beth kick him out after she breaks up with him. This fic is really well paced with some great back and forth between Beth and Rio, and it just works. It feels like it really could've gone this way, and I love it a lot.
Splinter by @daydreamstew. Intimate and angsty and painful, Beth breaks before she can, well, break up with him. It's a really evocative fic.
Tryin' to Even the Score by convolutedConcussions. Similarly to when the party's over, this fic features Rio not letting Beth end the conversation and it's similarly simmering with tension and angst and some really great character moments. Magic!
Rush of Happiness by brokensatellites / @bensonstablers. Beth and Rio fall asleep after sleeping together, and Beth wakes up with a different perspective. It's soft and gentle and hits in the best fluffy place.
You Should Probably Leave by @peachraindrops. Deviating from canon earlier in the ep as Beth tells Rio about Dean taking the kids and he responds actively instead of passively, it's a really fun, rich alternative take on the same plot points. Plus - deeelightful smut, haha.
So Not Done by @hereliesbb. Beth and Rio talk and try to figure it out. Charming and a little angsty, but also really sweet and gentle overall.
say it's all in my head (i remember what you said) by ms_scarlet / @mego42. Okay this is a cheat because it's not technically a canon divergence, but it's a sexy and intimate take on what would happen if there wasn't the cut to black, and I love it a loooot.
Show Me by janejoens. Set after 2.09, Rio and Beth are on the outs, Beth tries to talk to him while he's out with a casual partner and a moody, possessive threesome ensues. Delicious and angsty while also being super hot and featuring Beth and Rio at their most obsessed with each other.
Happy reading 😊

Have you caught your breath yet?
Talk about one hell of a cliffhanger! Roswell, New Mexico Season 3 Episode 13 left viewers with a plethora of questions and SHIRI APPLEBY! That's right, the OG Liz was on-screen, and the reveal gave me goosebumps!
Here is part two of my conversations with EP Christopher Hollier and Michael Vlamis, which takes a closer look at the finale and peek at what's ahead.
There was a tremendous amount of information dumped on the audience throughout those two hours, with Roswell, New Mexico Season 3 Episode 12 being the softer of the two, with a greater focus on the quieter moments between characters.
Hour two was heavier on the action but still gave us some beautiful scenes as well.
When asked about the importance of including those moments into a science-fiction show, Hollier remarked, "It's very important. We always break from a place of character, right? And we were also looking too, like what are all of our final battle moments?
"Because if Jones is so big and bad, then someone might not come out of it. What are the things that you want to say that are left unsaid so that you understand what you're fighting for? Explosions have to matter. We always joke. But that being said, we also wanted to challenge ourselves with a big father-son fight.
"And so we actually shot that even though it's only three minutes' worth of time, it took us two nights to shoot that. And it took us several weeks to actually map it out, storyboard it, discuss it. And so we wanted to do both. We felt like the episode's not complete unless people were crying and gasping."
And I think he accomplished his goal, alright.
There were also some cool pairings in the hour (and throughout the season), like Max and Alex, that fans will undoubtedly love. Much as they loved seeing Rosa and Michael hang out earlier in the season.
As Hollier told it, "I love that as well. And part of that was born out of the pandemic and getting actors in and really looking at the great people we had and being like, "How can we give them something new and how can we keep this fresh?"
"And one of the ways to do that is to do these pairings. Like for example, Amber Midthunder had never stood in the junkyard for a scene before. So, we're like, "You know what? We're going to put her there, and we're going to give her some work to do with Michael."
"So that was one of our favorites. We loved watching Kyle and Isobel interact with each other. You mentioned Alex and Max. It came up in the room. I'm like, "Those two guys have never had a scene together. We got to give them one."
"That was one of my favorites as well."
Both hours were framed around one singular focus, which was to finally break the bond between Jones and Max so they could eliminate Jones for good. And in the end, the good guys got their wish.
Though, is this the last we'll see of Jones? By far the best villain the show has seen to date, and played to perfection by Nathan Dean, Hollier spoke about whether there was ever a plan to keep the dictator past this season.
"Here's the thing. He is so fun, and Nathan crushed it playing it. I know it's tiring doing that. And also, we as writers, and I think the audience, even though he's delicious, will want something new. He was great for what he was.
"Again, we might not have seen the last of him. We do tell a lot of flashbacks, and we do jump to the home planet. So, for those people that are big Jones fans, you might get to see a little bit more of him, but he's not the main villain of next season."
That climax with Jones was also a bit of a labor of love for the cast who got to all film together, with Hollier remarking, "We spent so much time last year being away from each other.
"It brought such joy, I think, to our actors and selves to be able to do scenes like that. So hopefully, that translates to our audience wanting to see them together as well."
While Jones didn't make it through the finale, many of our couples ended the season in a great place which was a considerable departure from the end of Roswell, New Mexico Season 2.
When asked about that departure, Hollier replied, "We had two goals when we said this, that we, given what was going on in the world, we didn't want to end in doom and gloom. We wanted to end with people happy.
"We wanted hope ultimately to win out. And so that was important for us as a message to put through, as our world is very complicated. So that was the goal. The other thing that we wanted to do is we wanted to give the audience and ourselves other places to write to.
"Just because you fall in love and get that that person to stand with you doesn't mean that things are easy, doesn't mean that you're built to go the distance. And so, it gives us a whole new section to open up complications for each of those couples, and we would get to root for them in different ways now."
For Liz and Max, their journey was always at the forefront for the writers.
"It was really looking at our poster couple first and saying like, "Where have we left and what have they wrestled with for two years? And if they really are going to go the distance, how do we get them to ask those tough questions and grow towards each other? They need to grow up and then to each other."
"So, that's where we started. And then we also started with a little romantic comedy fun of like, let's delay that kiss until episode 13."
Fan-favorite couple Malex got to walk away together on their own terms, and it was a moment many years in the making. Speaking about their reunion this season, Vlamis was excited to go on this journey with such an available scene partner in the other half of Malex, Tyler Blackburn.
I think it's so cool. I would've loved to have more scenes with him in the first six episodes. I mean, we didn't even get together, we didn't even have a scene till episode 3. But I think that probably just kind of created a little bit more hype. But I mean, I've loved it so much. We've gone through every emotion.
"We've gone through every scenario that a breakup or relationship, in general, could go through. We've gotten to play just so many moments in my life are put into Roswell. So many real-life moments are put in on-screen when I'm with Tyler, and I know he's doing the same, and Tyler is available as any actor can be.
"So we're literally just on this rollercoaster of, oh, we love each other, but we hate each other right now. Or we fully love each other right now, or we're just friends right now, but we protect each other, and we're safe around each other.
"Every side of the spectrum, I mean we even had a freaking three-way, you know what I'm saying? Like they give us everything, it's insane."
For Vlamis, he watched this season right along with us each week, thanks to a trusty antenna. And he spoke humbly about watching the prior season while in the middle of shooting Season 4.
"Oh, you know what, I love it. I know some actors are a little hesitant to watch themselves. I'm not going to lie; I'm the complete opposite. I think I find so much joy in watching myself and seeing what works, what doesn't work.
"Oh, on that day, I related this scene to this memory of whatever, and oh my God, it's working so well. Or, oh, I did this, and it's not, you know. Like you get to learn so much. I can watch something objectively and totally. I can watch something as a viewer.
"But it's fun because I like watching myself too because on the day I do the take, I do every scene so different that sometimes I think they get a little annoyed that everything's so different, but I love it because when I watch the episode, it's so cool to see what they picked.
"And I would say a lot of the time they picked something that I did that maybe wasn't in the script. But the writers, they set the platform for me to get to that point. I always hit the words, but sometimes they let me go have a little bit of fun, and whether they let me or not, I just do it. And sometimes it makes the episode.
"It's just really exciting to know that when I sit down to watch something, I'm as surprised as the viewers because I did the take ten different ways, and I have no idea what it's going to be. So that's such a thrill. And when you're watching, for me, it just creates hype. Every Monday, I've watched it live with my antenna.
"I went to Best Buy, and I bought a $35 antenna, and that's how I'm watching the show every week. So, it's really special for me to have Roswell to look forward to, to watch every week while filming, because I'm such a fan of the show."
Well, the fans, along with Vlamis, were surely blown away by that final frame, which sets up a plethora of questions and possibilities as we head into the hiatus.
As for THAT moment and what's ahead, Hollier teased, "I'm excited for people to react. I think they're going to have a great reaction to that moment and not really be thinking about it or seeing it coming.
"And then I would remind the audience that the very first image and the first window into any story often isn't where that story goes. So, I'm excited for people to speculate for a few months of what they think is happening and let them come back and see how we turn that whole thing on its head."
Well, if that isn't a doozy of a tease!
I didn't ask Vlamis for any season 4 teases as we were running well over time, but I did ask him what he was most excited for the fans to see in the finale, and this exchange is too pure to not post in its entirety.
What are you excited for the audience to see in this finale coming up?
Vlamis: Oh man, honestly, I'm so excited to see the scene where my stomach gets stapled. I'm so stoked on that scene. I'm like, did they leave it in? Like, is it in there? Like, is it awesome? You saw it.
I'm not going to lie. I closed my eyes a little bit when I watched it.
Vlamis: I remember one take, there's no way they did it, but you know, that's a big wound. She needed to staple me a couple times, probably, to close that.
I think they only show one, but yeah.
Vlamis: Okay. Okay. So, on the day when she stapled me, I yelled. She did it, and then I yelled, "Again!" like super loud. I was just hoping to God like because it would be so funny if they put that in there, but I'm sure it just, you know, there's time constraints.
All right. We don't need an extra "again," we don't need another staple in the stomach, but I actually am also really excited for the face-off scene in the bunker with Jones and Michael. When Michael all of a sudden starts basically overpowering Jones. I think that is such an amazing moment.
Yeah!
Vlamis: They sent me the scenes last night to watch before these, but you know, we shot till midnight, and then I jumped on a plane to come to a wedding. I got like two hours of sleep. So, I haven't even seen it.
I'm so excited to see it. But remembering just the beating Michael Guerin takes in these episodes is unbelievable. And I mean, I just cannot wait. The guy's a machine. He should have been dead like 80 times.
The thing that I know is going to be probably the most tweeted about, the most talked about, is taking that bandana off and holding Alex's hand and right in front of his dad's statue. And I hope they left that scene exactly how I think they're going to leave it, which I'm sure they did.
Lance Anderson, the director, knows what he is doing. And that's just a huge moment. That's been building for three seasons.
Yeah. It really has. It turns out beautifully.
Vlamis: It's kind of our first date. Oh, great! Great. Yeah, in the same spot where I saw Forrest get off the bus and kiss him.
The whole season comes full circle.
Vlamis: It really does. It truly does.

what makes you think the writers want deancas? not trying to be an asshole, i'm just genuinely curious as to why you think that. i know berens' episodes are pretty heavy with subtext so i can see why you'd say that he wants it, but i'm not so sure about the rest of the writers/dabb. it seems like meghan isn't a huge fan either, given her "they twisted it so fast" tweet :/ of course she's a very new writer (think she's only writing one ep this season?) but still
OKAY this is a great question, welcome to my dissertation.
I’m going to address the end of your question first. Meghan is actually DeanCas positive, she has been for quite a long time. She actually, a few years back, posted a picture of her reading a literal book about Destiel and captioned it “writing reading” or something like that.
This whole thing just comes out of a boiling over of tensions because of how nasty fandom twitter can be. Like I said here, I think this has just gotten blown out of proportion, they shouldn’t have posted all this randomly disparaging stuff, but also like...can you blame them? The fandom is a lot, we always have been, and they’re probably also under a gag order not to talk about the finale, and are annoyed that people keep asking.
So nah, Meg is not anti Destiel.
To the first part!! So let’s take a look at the show runners since Cas has been around.
Seasons 4 and 5: Kripke
Seasons 6 and 7: Gamble
Seasons 8-11ish: Carver
Seasons 11ish-15: Dabb
So starting with Kripke. Okay, yes, I will be the first to admit that we have some pretty incredible Destiel moments in these seasons, but it’s less directly written into the plot and much more from Misha and Jensen’s uhhhh ~chemistry~. The only times it was directly written into the script was when the episode was handled by someone like Edlund (“On The Head Of A Pin,” “The End,” “My Bloody Valentine”). And you have to remember, if in season 5, there are moments here and there where you’re like huh that’s suspiciously romantic dialogue, remember that Cas took Anna’s place. Anna was supposed to be endgame for Dean, but due to a myriad of issues and Misha’s general greatness, Anna was replaced with Cas.
Onto 6 and 7. Hmmm. Gamble. 6 and 7 are my two least favorite seasons and that’s no secret, and that’s not only due to the plain old weird shit in the overall storyline, but also that homegirl killed off Cas in s7 and then Bobby like four episodes later. (Also it ALWAYS rubbed me the wrong way they couldn’t have Baby in that season lol). We still had some great DeanCas moments, but again, it wasn’t really written into the overall arc (until they had to change the end of season 7 because of tanking ratings and bring Misha back lol, anyone remember the fact that Dean kept Cas’ jacket and would randomly dream of him? Yeah.). But we still had those moments, those distinctly romantic moments, probably the best example in these two seasons is from Edlund again, specifically “The Man Who Would be King,” I wrote a little about that here.
We move onto Carver, who gave us, at this point, the most overt DeanCas season with season 8 (season gr8 is a better name imo), and this is the first time Dean and Cas’ relationship is directly written as an arc of the season.  I mean, you have everything in Purgatory, Dean “seeing” Cas everywhere, the fact that he felt so guilty that Cas stayed in Purgatory that he manipulated his own memories to think that he was the one that failed Cas, because he couldn’t comprehend that Cas would want to leave him, and let’s not forget Dean snapping Cas out of Naomi’s hold on him in “Goodbye Stranger.”  It was a very obvious shift, not enough to alert the general audience, but more than enough for most of us in fandom.
It’s also important to note that this is when Andrew stopped co writing with Loflin and started writing his own episodes (”Hunter Heroici” anyone?)  I like Loflin fine, but Dabb was able to stretch his legs a little bit more once he stopped co-writing, and we also began to see some DeanCas themes in his solo episodes.
In any case, them and their issues being a big part of the seasons continued with Carver, and Berens entered the scene, his first episode (”Heaven Can’t Wait”) is one of my favorites, with human Cas and the fanfiction gap and Dean and Cas just generally being awkward and funny and sweet.  This is Bobo’s FIRST episode, remember that.  He comes right out of the gate with it.
Also in Season 9, this is when Dean takes the Mark of Cain, and the Cas/Colette mirror is born, so obviously, Dean and Cas are the fabric of the season once again.  This is also the season where Metatron says Cas is “in love with humanity,” and then immediately refers to Dean as Humanity so uhhhh yeah.
Onto season 10, Dabb and Berens continue with their greatness (I could write pages on the DeanCas date in “The Things We Left Behind” alone).  And then we have one of the best scenes in the entire show in “The Prisoner” where the Cas/Colette mirror continues and Dean, driven by grief and pain and rage and the Mark, still doesn’t kill Cas.  He still can’t kill Cas.
Season 11 is important because it takes choice away from both Cas and Dean, and shows us, as the audience, how much losing each other takes out of them. We saw in season 10 how much losing Dean takes from Cas, but what about Cas losing Dean?  Dean loses his choice with his connection to Amara this season, and loses even more when Lucifer reveals he’s been possessing Cas, and plays on Dean’s connection to Cas like a mockery.  It’s also worth noting that, similarly to season 8, Dean breaks out of the connection with Amara when he’s worried about Cas, and that’s something that even SHE is surprised by.
But then season 12, the beginning to the Renaissance.  This is when we get the writer’s that become important for what Dean and Cas are today, and, truly, why I believe they want canon Destiel as much as we do.
This is the first season with Dabb’s writers: Davy Perez, Meredith Glynn, Steve Yockey, and of course Bobo all come in with their incredible talents and gave us episode after episode of good content.  “Lily Sunder Has Some Regrets” is probably my favorite, probably the best example of what I’m saying.  An episode where Dean is called out by an enemy directly, told to “roll the dice” on Cas’ life.  And Dean won’t, it’s not even really a hesitation.  And this comes from a character that has known Dean for ten seconds.  I also wrote more in depth about this episode here.  There are also some.....distinctly domestic details we get this season, specifically in “The Future” (written by Berens and Glynn) with the mixtape.  The most tropey of tropes mixtape.  Yeah, I’ll just leave that one here.
And then season 12 ends with Cas’ death, but also with the parallel between Sam and Dean with Jess and Cas.  Sam literally has to drag Dean away from Cas, just like Dean had to drag Sam out of his burning apartment in the pilot.  The episode drives it home in every way that it can: Dean is the one left kneeling by Cas’ body, while Sam goes to find out what is upstairs.  Dean is the one who stares at the sky, finally broken.  This isn’t a random thing, this is Dean’s whole arc, it’s the entirety of the beginning of 13.  Dean’s pain, his anguish, his anger.
Season 13 starts with them burning Cas, with Dean, who has begged God to bring him back, who has split his knuckles punching a door, standing, staring at Cas’ pyre with brokenness on his face.
I mean.....
Anyway, season 13 is where it gets interesting (well, I think all of this is interesting but I’m a writer nerd so).  So Cas comes back from the Empty in “Advanced Thanatology” written by Steve Yockey, and then a wombo combo of “Tombstone” by Davy Perez next (”Brokebacknatural” as the PR said at the time).  Listen.  This is the part that SPN crossed a line that they couldn’t come back from.  With Cas being Dean’s “big win,” the fact that Dean and Cas watch movies together, “I told you, he’s an angry sleeper.  Like a bear.” Talked about it here.
This is where, in my opinion, the network stepped in, but the damage was already done.  They had already established that Cas was Dean’s big win, that Dean’s poor coping was not due to Mary’s disappearance, but solely due to Cas, and that Dean and Cas have more married energy than anyone else.  The network had nixed blatant canon at this point, and they writing room had been pushing the boundaries of what the network would allow.
After these episodes, we see a marked drop off of DeanCas heavy scenes.  They’re still there, still a part of the fabric of the season, but not as...obvious as it had been in early season 13.
And this continued through season 14, we’re back to scraps of Destiel scenes here and there, but to me it always felt like there was something bubbling under the surface, something distinctly unsaid in the themes of the season, even after the walk back of obvious “Dean and Cas are in love” scenes.
And then we get to season 15, which, y’all know I talk about all the time.  What’s important here is that Bobo and Glynn are both executive producers, calling more of the shots than ever before.  Additionally, it’s important to note that, though they only co write occasionally, Glynn and Berens refer to each other as “work husband” and “work wife.”  Each episode has just turned up the volume, and, not for the first time, but certainly the most obvious, Dean and Cas ARE the season.  Sure, they’re trying to beat God, they’re trying to finally find peace, defeat the final big bad, but really?  This season has been about Dean, and Dean’s relationship to Cas.
And not only do we have obvious and clear Destiel in nearly every episode, but we have episodes like “Last Call” which canonize bi!Dean (wrote about that here).
And, maybe most importantly so far, we have “The Rupture,” the breakup, and “The Trap,” Dean’s confession (both written by Berens).  And here’s the thing.  These episodes feel connected, but also feel like they’re missing something.  Beren’s last episode is 15x18, “The Truth.”  We’ve all spec’ed about what could happen in this episode, and I think *I* know what it’s leading to.  But for it to be leading to that, it means that the network has to have approved what we’ve all been waiting for years for.
Who got this change to happen?  Who got the network to change their minds?  It wasn’t us.  It was them.  I am fully convinced that Dabb and Berens quite literally put their careers on the line for Dean and Cas.  They believe in them, they’ve shown that from the beginning, but the only thing standing in the way was the network, never allowing them to take the final step.
So, to answer your question: I think the writers want canon DeanCas because they’ve already shown us that they do.  Take a look at their episodes, at Dabb’s, at Beren’s, at Glynn’s, at Perez’s, at Yockey’s.  They’ve been telling us what’s going on with Dean and Cas for years.
Sure, I’m not in their heads, I guess I don’t know for *sure* that this has been their thought process, but if we put it all together, from the marked shift when Dabb fully took over in s12, to the change right after “Tombstone,” to the new shift, the blatantly romantic shift in season 15, what else is there?
I’ve said for a long time that we, the SPN fandom, are beyond lucky to have the writer’s that we do.  They’re all going to go on to have prolific careers and we were lucky to get them at the end of our little show.  I give them a lot of credit for what we have in the show today.
Just remember, they’ve been telling us in all of s15 who Chuck is.  He says he’s the writer, right?  But a writer who doesn’t have control of his characters?  A writer who wants to do the same ending over and over because it “works”?  That doesn’t sound like a writer, it sounds like a network exec.
They’ve been showing us what they want for years, and the way s15 is going?  I think they may have convinced the network to let us have it.

did cas really tell dean to kneel before their new god? did that actually happen? i thought him beating the shit out of dean in that alley was the most unrestrainedly horny thing this show had ever done ACTUALLY you know what scratch that new question: top horny moments from the cw's supernatural (2005 - 2020)
getting this ask feels like my sins of the last week have been weighed against the Trials I Have Gone Through since the premier of supernatural on the wb in september of 2005 and I’m not sure if it is a punishment or reward
some notes before we begin:
the ep with dean’s male siren was like, conceptually horny but not actually that horny because the dude was uglie. I’m sorry to this man
all you sam girls out there. I respect you but I do not respect jared padalecki who is JUST tall and has zero sex appeal. but those eps where he’s like, drinking ruby’s blood and then eating her pussy are. you know. I’ll give you that
I am ONLY UP TO SEASON 10 so fair warning this is not comprehensive but the horniness does seem to drop off sharply after the mark of cain is no longer in play lol gotta love a good demon murder tattoo plot
this is easily the most insane thing I’ve ever done, including the destiel manifesto
S1 EP12: the scene where dean gets healed by the faith healer, on his knees with a hand in his hair and looking somewhere between religious ecstasy, brain death and an orgasm. starting this list off great
S1 EP22: azazel possessing john winchester. no I will not explain further if u know u know <3
S3 EP10: dean being taunted by a dream version of himself, this is where we first got the daddy’s blunt little instrument line. still burned in my hippocampus a good 13 years later thank yew
S4 EP1: dean crawling out of his own grave covered in grave dirt. hot. the HANDPRINT. HOT. also tangent but this reveal after the s3 finale was WILD back in 2008 I hollered in my dorm room after canvassing for obama. simpler times man
S4 EP 1: cas’ intro scene. the barn. the shadow wings. the hair??? getting stabbed in the chest by the man you just pulled out of hell. getting aaaallll up in that personal space. his little eyebrow. “you don’t think you deserve to be saved.” OUTRAGEOUSLY FLAMING
S4 EP02: “I dragged you out of hell I can throw you back in.” <<< this angel tops. mark dean down as scared and horny etc
S4 EP16: this ENTIRE EPISODE but specifically the part where dean tortures alastair as some kind of foreplay and then alastair kicks his ass. carved you into a new animal. jesus.
S4 EP16: wait I forgot about the part where cas also gets his ass kicked and looks all....hm. dazed and covered in blood while he’s on his knees and about to die. yeah.
S5 EP4: I mean this entire ep is unfairly horny considering everyone is dying of a zombie plague and hasn’t showered in like, 4 years but if I had to pick one hmmm. the dean/dean interrogation scene with the panty kink yeah I know it’s not original but hm. it happened. also misha collins just being able to convey that CAS IS A FLEXIBLE SLUT with a single roll of his shoulders. who SAYS this man can’t act!!!!!
S5 EP18: the ALLEY SCENE. DEAN DOESN’T FIGHT BACK. CAS HOLDS HIM UP OFF THE GROUND AND THEN THROWS HIM ACROSS THE ALLEY. WHY DID EVERYONE THINK CAS COULDN’T TOP. you all had brainworms.
S5 EP18: when cas locks dean in the panic room to stop him from saying yes to michael and “well cas not for nothing but the last person who looked at me like that I got laid” I hate this show. wait I think the blow me cas line is in this episode too what the fuck were they on here
S6 EP5: the scene where dean gets turned into a vampire. between the old dude who I think calls dean a pretty boy (??) and soulless sam....watching??? no ******* but there were just some absolutely foul energies in that scene and I still do not understand WHAT they were thinking
S6 EP20: cas doing a double smite on two demons by slamming them to the ground and then shoving another demon back in its vessel and then smiting him in the same motion. TOP. ENERGY.
S6 EP22: season 6 is possibly cas’ horniest season because he’s like, going through angel puberty after getting his first boner for dean, but the final cas eps are. whoof. cas eats a bunch of souls and proclaims himself to be a new god in order to handle said boner, and then the season ends with cas telling them to bow down and profess their love to him, their new lord, or he will destroy them. note: the way this is framed makes it look like cas is only staring at dean while he says this, even though sam and bobby are also there. the season ends with dramatic zooms on both cas and dean’s faces respectively. this made me actively regret ditching this show after s5 lol
S8 EP??: literally EVERY SINGLE PURGATORY FLASHBACK. cas dean and benny are all purgatory hot in the “pop 10 cranberry pills and risk the UTI” kind of way but also. dean being the hot girl bottom between two tops who hate each other. I really. whew. I need to go take a shower.
S8 EP17: if I get canceled for including the crypt scene on this list I blame you bud. but dean on his knees begging a brainwashed cas to stop killing him WAS sexy. how many times has dean been on his knees in this list wait there’s another one coming up next jsldjfsldkjf
S9 EP2: abaddon getting dean on his knees (YEAH) and pulling his hair and praising him for always coming when called HELLO???? the only thing that ruins this is dean says “I can’t tell if we’re gonna fight or make out” because this is the CW and they won’t let him say fuck
S9 EP6: ah. this entire episode is Emotionally Horny but the horny horny part is when they’re in the car and dean is telling cas to unbutton his shirt and. watches. I know this was on my destiel manifesto but I need it here too
S9 EP9: cas, covered in blood, slitting another angel’s throat and eating his grace after getting tortured. that shot alone made me understand why this website was so goddamn horny for misha collins for nearly a damn decade
S9 EP11: MARK OF CAIN BABEY. cain watching dean beat up a bunch of demons as an audition for taking on the mark, while crowley also is a fucking voyeur to the whole thing. cain is also a hot silver fox with daddy energies. I said what I said
S9 EP 16: dean getting the first blade. he’s chained to a pillar and being menaced by a foppish dandy who wants to add him to his “collection” (WOW). dean then kills him with the blade and whew. murder is sexy sometimes
S9 EP21: dean being pinned against a wall by abaddon’s power, then using the mark of cain to break her hold, calling the first blade to him psychically and then killing her. god the mark of cain is hot
S9 EP23: dean waking up with the demon eyes NUT
S10 EP2: demon dean beating up that dude with the boring backstory and kicking his ass. really was a go on baby I got your flower moment because I hated that dude and I love demon dean
S10 EP3: demon dean being chained up and taunting sam about how his brother is gone, then hunting sam through the bunker. demon dean in general was VERY fun for me, someone who loves trash
S10 EP9: dean going berserk and killing a bunch of pedophile rapists/child abusers. I’m sorry I know this show is trying to preach morality at me about monsters and unnecessary murder and humanity or whatever but we blew past that like 8 SEASONS AGO. also the mark of cain is sexy
S10 EP14: the rest of this list is really gonna be mark of cain stuff isn’t it look I’m here to have fun. cain and dean’s fight. cain continuously tossing his mane of hair back and taunting dean with the picture of what he’s going to become, who he’s going to kill. dean begging cain to tell him that he can stop, and then ultimately killing him. rip daddy.
S11 EP4: again I have not watched this however. every shot of this episode is PRESTIGE TELEVISION because driving a muscle car is sexy. and especially the shot of dean all beat to hell and begging his car to start and giving her a little kiss from his fingers to her dash. ugh. masculinity.
S12 EP10: the bearded salt-and-pepper daddy look returns, only it’s an angel this time and he’s wearing a vest and shirtsleeves and he swordfights with a hot redheaded lady in a suit and an eyepatch. this show is good sometimes!!! and oh fuck lol I just realized this is the same guy who played krissy’s hot hunter dad in s7 probably the first guy who’s hotter as an angel than a hunter. huh.
S12 EP 11: dean riding larry the mechanical bull to “broomstick cowboy.” I have no idea where this factors into the ep but I have seen. the youtube clip
S13 EP23: from what I can tell s13 is way more emotionally horny than boner horny, although dean burning cas’ body was sexy. but the horniest part was dean saying yes to michael and then michael taking over and saying “thanks for the suit.” we are going to ignore the silliest fight scene in existence as well as the final shot ending on a FREEZE FRAME like a goddamn tiktok
S14: not gonna pick a specific moment because I have not watched yet!!! but michael dean is hot. idk why michael is weirdly hot and I cannot stand any iteration of lucifer on this television programme. it should be the reverse but I’m forever an older sibling stan apparently. someone who is catholic could probably explain this better.
S15 EP13: genevieve padalecki and danneel ackles fight flirting as ruby and anael I CANNOT BELIEVE THEY HELD OUT ON THIS TILL THE LAST SEASON
I know I am missing things but this is already an absolutely incomprehensible screed. I know I’m missing shit from the latter seasons but give me time I’m pacing myself

Alright, I’m pretty beaten, so I’m going to delve into all of your edits and thoughts a little later (as they deserve my full attention), but I did watch the episode... and as always I do have some thoughts to share. 😉
This finale felt a bit chaotic to me, which could have been due to my current state, but still. While switching between two timelines can add something, this time I didn’t feel it. Maybe because I had difficulties following the whole fire situation, maybe because I simply didn’t want to constantly go back in time because I wanted this ep to be about today. The wedding day. So excuse me for ignoring everything that happened ‘two days ago’ (except for the outcome), but I just didn’t care.
So... today.
Today started good, cause it started with Andy kicking Sullivan’s ass for whatever reason and I absolutely loved it. Over the past 2 seasons I gave the guy quite some chances, but he managed to screw them all, and by now I just hate him. So go Andy!
While Andy was taking no further BS from Sully we moved to Maya, who was unrecognizable cheesy, but since it’s her wedding day I forgive her for that. (Also cheesy quickly turned into hot, until Carina started asking about Maya’s family right when Maya was giving her That Look™ so that was a bit of a WTF moment, but then they made up for it by “showering” together (with shower caps?! 🙊) so yeah, no harm done!)
More scenes with one or both of these two followed, which were all great. I’d like to specially mention the one with Maya and proud Andy - thank god they’re good again!
Two other scenes stood out as well. Of course there was the one with Maya’s parents: super short and (thus) super powerful. She’s so standing above her dickhead of a dad, showing us all (once again) that yes she might be beaten, but no, she’s not broken. Not at all.
The other one was Carina in the restaurant (didn’t that place burn down like less than 6 weeks ago?!). The “I need a minute to miss my brother”-scene. Except she didn’t get to say any of that. She didn’t even got to say his name. I have some feelings about that. Also, though loving Vic in that moment, I wish it had been Maya walking in instead.
The ceremony itself felt a bit rushed to me, but alright at the same time. Though vows can be real great, more often they turn out cheesy and cliche. This wasn’t. This was from the heart. “I love you. And I choose you. Forever.” Love. Choose. Forever. Plain and simple. But everything and more.
While the newlyweds danced the night away we witnessed how Jack and Inara broke up, which I’m not sorry for, and how Travis and Emmett found themselves in the most cliche classic rom-com scene of “I want you, I can’t, okay, no wait...” Miller heading straight into an emotional accident was mostly a painful watch. I should probably feel sorry for him, but frankly I’m just happy if Vic is happy, so yeah... sorry Dean.
And then, last but not least, the final plot twist. Maya’s out. Because of Sullivan. Or well, they’d probably drop her anyway, because the FD men clearly can’t deal with women in high ranks (plus this is S19, in which switching captain position is part of the show), but of course good old Sullivan knows better than being a loyal team member for once. Didn’t I tell you all he’s a vulture? God, I hate being right all the time! 😉
So Maya’s out. And I hate it. She doesn’t deserve any of this bullshit treatment. It’s so not fair that it makes me wanna storm in there and kick a whole lot of asses. But in a way I love it, too. Which may sound super weird. But it’s the start of a storyline that might be good (and is at least not about babies). And most of all it will make her run into fires again - as I’m sure she can still be part of the team, since even Sullivan could after all his crap. And Maya running into fires is hella hot! Am I selfish here? Absolutely! But I’m real, and she’s fictional, so I’m sure she won’t mind...

I binge-watched the spn anime because of the brain rot
Tumblr media
It’s bad except for the parts that are good, and it’s pretty to look at. Here’s a comprehensive list of pros and cons. Spoilers ahead!
Pros:
- more psychic kid backstories: Max (Nightmare), Lily (Darkness Calling), Jake (Loser)
- more psychic Sam
- more Azazel
- basically if you want more about the psychic/demon kids, watch the anime
- more young Winchesters
- the monsters, the superhuman abilities, the fight scenes, it all looks really cool animated. (But PSA it’s violent. It doesn’t shy away from blood and gore.)
- Sam and Jessica backstory
- more of the brothers being cute and funny together
- Missouri isn’t forgotten
- includes some Japanese legends/mythology
- the impala looks great in every scene. They did Baby good
- the “Supernatural” intro title
- the outro sketches of the boys hanging out with Baby
- Episodes adapted from the original show are different, but I like some of the changes? It’d be boring if it was an exact retelling and the visual medium wasn’t utilized. (I know I said spoilers before, but this is when they get detailed. If you wanna skip over, I’ll tell you where they STOP.)
Nightmare goes more into the abuse Max has suffered. Instead of locking Sam in a closet, Max sends Sam through the floor and covers the hole by breaking his bed in half, and it’s extremely sexy how Sam shoves the 2 halves apart with his mind. Later on Dean puts bandaids on Sam and they talk about demons loudly in front of a fast food intercom.
In My Time of Dying highlights the guilt Sam feels over Dean. In both the og and the anime John verbally blames Sam for not shooting Azazel, but where in the og Sam goes right on arguing, in the anime he reels back for a moment like he was slapped. Dean’s spirit touches Sam’s shoulder, and Sam knows immediately that it’s Dean. He doesn’t even question it. Instead of “Are you here?” it’s “I know you’re with me. I can feel it.” And I love that. Dean figures out right away he’s dealing with a reaper, and the reaper takes on the appearance of Mary to convince Dean to move on to the afterlife. Instead of a Ouija board, Sam uses a laptop to talk to Dean, and the first word Dean types is “Sammy!” Dean is so fond of his little brother and Sam is so baby.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rising Son is an anime only episode, but it draws inspiration from John’s journal. Dean has a proper breakdown over his dad’s death and the possibility of having to kill Sam. Ms. Lyle, Sam’s favorite teacher who turns out to be possessed, is explored. John takes Dean hunting, and in the journal Dean hesitates to shoot a buck, and little Sam shoots it thinking it was endangering Dean. In the anime, Dean’s cornered by a moose and Sam makes it explode with his mind and it’s so !!! How little Sam’s first words are, “I’m glad you’re okay. It didn’t hurt you?” The boys are covered in blood and guts and Dean’s like 👁👄👁 “Why are you here? Did you do this?” And then Sam starts freaking out a little, the shock sets in. “I don’t know. I don’t know, honest.” And he’s staring at his hands, and I am a big fan of Sam showing superhuman signs as a kid. Like in the journal, Ms. Lyle tries to take Sam. She gives Sam the illusion of a choice to come with her or stay with Dean, and Sam chooses Dean. This ep is pretty much when John figures out Sam has demon blood. He kills another hunter that wants to kill Sam.
Crossroad is based on Crossroad Blues, and I love how the crossroads demon shows up. It’s hard to describe, but it’s so neat, like she’s walking underneath Dean in this mirror world, and then the mirror world takes over the regular world, so you really get this sense of otherworldly seclusion, existing outside of time.
Tumblr media
What Is and Should Never Be shows Dean is a firefighter in his ‘Mary never died’ world, and Sam got to play soccer growing up like he wanted. The brothers hold each other after Dean is saved from the Djinn.
AHBL part 1. When Azazel shows Sam that he fed Sam his blood, Sam gags and slaps a hand over his mouth, and I like that reaction more than the live action. The psychic kids get to go more anime with their powers, and that’s a lot of fun. They don’t need weapons. Ava slams Sam into the brick side of a building and cuts him without touching him. Jake snaps Ava’s neck with one hand and then catches Sam in his arms. When Jake attacks Sam, there’s no gun or knife. He’s relying on his super strength, his fists. Sam throws his arms up to protect himself, and (accidentally?) pushes Jake back with his mind, and the collision creates a crater in the ground. Jake puts his fist through Sam’s chest to kill him. It’s brutal and it’s rad as fuck. These kids are terrifyingly powerful.
The Sam and Dean reunion before Sam is killed is not as emotional as the live action imo, but what the anime does intrigues me. Hurts in a different way. Because Sam is stunned after he uses telekinesis again, on Jake, and when he hears Dean behind him Sam freezes. He doesn’t look relieved to see Dean, but wary and weary. It’s Dean taking steps towards him, not the other way around, and it has to be because Sam doesn’t know if Dean saw him push Jake back. Sam doesn’t know how Dean’s going to respond to all this, to him, having powers that come from a demon, the demon, Azazel. Sam hasn’t had a chance to process anything. He’s scared. He’s tired. And the way the anime focuses on Sam’s eyes here. Gah. “Dean. Dean, I’m...” I’m sorry. I’m all right. I’m glad you’re okay. I’m a monster. There’s also this one shot between Sam and Azazel that sends me because of how anime it is.
Tumblr media
AHBL part 2. I love how Sam brought back to life is animated, with all the color returning to his face and a light wind rustling his hair and his lips parting to indicate his soul returning to his body. Jake attacks Dean, and, a lot like how Sam activates telekinesis to save Dean from Max in Nightmare, Sam gets a burst of superhuman strength. He rips Jake’s arm off and tackles him to the ground and beats him to death, punches holes into his body, and it’s so savage and bloody and scary, and I love it. The Devil’s Gate opening looks so cool animated. Same goes for Dean shooting Azazel with the Colt.
Not to turn this into a meta post, but I also noticed how the last couple times Sam uses his powers they’re colored green-yellow, the same colors as Mary’s ghost when she reveals herself in the anime’s Home, and I don’t know if that’s intentional, but it’s neat how it draws a connection to Sam’s biological family instead of Azazel’s blood.
The Spirit of Vegas is like Bad Day at Black Rock, but Dean has all the bad luck instead, and it shows off the silly cartoony physics that make animation fun. The boys sleep outside and split a chunk of bread for dinner. Also this lil bit of Dean’s hair tied in a bow.
Tumblr media
- (STOP) the brothers are pretty. I am not immune to animated Sam and Dean Winchester.
Cons:
- Jensen doesn’t voice Dean until the last 2 episodes
- The English dialogue is really bad sometimes. I wish I could’ve watched the sub, but I couldn’t figure out how to change the language
- Some character designs are really different from the live action, and maybe that’s petty, but if you’re gonna change the characters diversify them? Don’t just make them unrecognizable white people
- Missouri’s design as a stereotypical witch doctor is racist
- Gordon is replaced by some British guy named Jason?? Why
- There’s an LGBT character who is not accepted by her family and, while that bigotry is always shown to be negative and she dies the hero of the episode, she still dies ://
- In the English dub Lily’s gf is made into her roommate instead. Idk about the sub
- Bobby’s pretty much a totally different character
- Sam and Dean are OOC sometimes
- Dean’s hair usually looks darker than Sam’s and it drives me crazy
- The storytelling is, overall, not nearly as good as the live action
- The non-Japanese lore in some episodes makes no sense. Sometimes it’s just plain ridiculous?? Like there’s a giant robot made of cars and scrap metal controlled by a demon? ? I wish I was making this up
- Meg’s role is severely reduced
- No Harvelles or Roadhouse
- Shadows are overused, but maybe that’s because the og show is so dark?
- I don’t mind the art style. I like the aesthetic, but I wish it was a little more expressive. It doesn’t do Sam’s puppy eyes justice.
- AZAZEL’S SHADOW?? PROPORTIONS?? PEA SIZED HEAD
Tumblr media
- Idk why they mashed season 1 and 2 together? The story feels rushed
- there’s not as much chemistry between Sam and Dean, but that’s a given without J2 on screen
- Nobody tells you!! That there’s scenes after the credits!! And some of them are important! Why are important scenes after the credits??
The anime would not be good on its own, without the heart and depth the live action brings, but it works as supplementary material you can cherry pick from. I would watch more if there were more episodes.
It hasn’t turned me off from wanting an spn anime. I’d like to see it continued or redone, with updated animation and better scripts. There’s a lot of potential in exploring more about the psychic kids and Sam’s powers, storylines that were cut short in the og show. Animation is a great medium for showing off the supernatural, getting creative and creepier with the designs, dramatic with the fight scenes, without having to worry about bad CGI. I don’t want a live action reboot, but I think a redone animated series could be a lot of fun! (As long as it’s not an excuse to make any romantic ships take over. SPN is a platonic love story, and I like it that way.)
If you made it to the end here and are interested in watching the spn anime, you can watch it for free on the CW Seed app! You can probably stream it elsewhere, but idk where!

what are the gayest destiel episodes you can think of?
ohhhhh i gotchu hold on (this is basically gonna end up being a list of my fave destiel episodes lmaooo)
ok so just a heads-up, i don’t really remember much from s10 onwards (a lot of those episodes i haven’t actually watched since they aired whoops) and i’m currently stuck at the beginning of s9 on my complete rewatch soooo this list focuses only on the first half of the show. i might do an update if i ever manage to finish my rewatch (and remember to post an update at all when the time comes)
ok here we go:
4x16 - On the Head of a Pin
dean calls cas “cas” to his face for the very first time
dean is all “you can't ask me to do this, cas. not this.” (about torturing alastair) and uriel is all “who said anything about asking”, but cas is all: “this is too much to ask, i know. but we have to ask it” and that is the moment that dean realizes that cas cares about him and his feelings/well-being and that’s when he demands to speak to cas alone
and it’s only after cas tells dean he really doesn’t want dean being forced to do the torturing that Dean gives in (”i would give anything not to have you do this”)
like, it’s so obvious already how much cas cares about dean already and we’re only in s4
cas is even starting to go down the path of disobedience (with a little help from anna admittedly, but still. he’s starting to consider it)
they’re so?? comfortable?? with each other. when cas visits dean at the hospital in the end
4x22 - Lucifer Rising
dean literally makes an angel fall in this ep, i mean come on... (the way cas shows up behind him all “you asked to see me” after dean smashes the angel statue cracks me up every single time gsdlka)
dean desperately trying to get cas to help him (bc he knows that IF there’s an angel that would help him it’s cas)
cas is too afraid though and dean gets pissed and literally breaks up with him (D: "you spineless, soulless son of a bitch. what do you care about dying? you're already dead. we're done." C: "dean-" D: "we're done!")
this is the episode in which cas makes his decision and chooses dean over heaven
5x03 - Free to Be You and Me
in the previous episode sam and dean had a fight and split up. this episode starts out with dean being pissed and annoyed and just in a bad mood in general
when cas shows up and asks for help dean is very grumpy and doesn’t want to help at first but then reluctantly agrees
throughout the episode, the more time dean spends with cas the better his mood gets (honestly this point is worthy of its own separate post, i have enough screenshots lmao)
like he’s even smiling at the end of the ep when he’s talking to cas in the car!! (except then he looks over and realizes cas has left mid-conversation again and that smile is wiped right off his face and i’m sad :( )
when they’re in that brothel dean mostly has eyes for cas, even when chastity the hooker is standing right next to him
after the brothel incident when dean is cracking up and goes “it's been a long time since I've laughed that hard. it's been more than a long time. years.” like... buddy. your crush is showing.
and the way cas smiles lovingly at dean laughing next to him
dean be like: “personal space”     also dean: *reaches into cas’s coat without hesitation* *fixes cas’s shirt and tie without hesitation*
also the funniest thing about the whole “personal space” moment in the motel is that there was more than enough space for dean to step aside and increase the distance between him and cas if he had really been all that uncomfortable but he just. doesn’t. no he just stays right where he is
when raphael is trapped in the holy oil and threatens cas all “castiel, I'm warning you. do not leave me here. i will find you.” and cas goes “maybe one day. but today, you're my little bitch.” and walks away and dean tells raphael “what he said” like the impressed and proud boyfriend that he is
inside jokes (see here)
some more iconic quotes/moments from this episode:
“cas, we’ve talked about this. personal space”
“so, what, i'm thelma and you're louise and we're just going to hold hands and sail off this cliff together?”
“well. last night on earth. what are your plans?” “i just thought i'd sit here quietly.”
“let me tell you something. there are two things i know for certain. one, bert and ernie are gay. two, you are not gonna die a virgin. not on my watch.”
5x14 - My Bloody Valentine
hunter husbands!!
the way that dean is not in the mood for hook-ups on valentine’s day and then goes to stare at cas like That
that iconic phone call at the hospital where cas just appears in front of dean who nearly runs into him
cas be looking at sam while listing all the things people can be starving for, and then looks at dean before saying “love”
ok i know this doesn’t have that many points but really this entire ep is great, i very much enjoy all the interactions between cas and dean in this ep
like when dean is not hungry and cas is all “you're not gonna finish that?” and grabs the plate without waiting for an answer bc they’re this married in s5 already
6x20 - The Man Who Would Be King
i mean... this one is obvious isn’t it
this ep is literally all about how cas is doing everything for the winchesters aka dean
the way sam and bobby cautiously voice their suspicions of cas to dean has the same energy as carefully breaking it to a family member that you think their partner is cheating on them
and when they trap cas in the holy oil and confront him dean also acts like a betrayed wife(gn)
which is such a stark contrast to how sam and bobby react to the betrayal (they’re mostly just like “eh this sucks” while dean is emotionally affected)
and even in the following episodes dean is way more affected by cas’s betrayal than sam and bobby are and dean is the one who argues the most with cas (honestly, this entire arc is literally that post that’s all “how do i know dean is in love with cas? bc sam isn’t”)
ok but the holy oil scene is truly like a soap opera (i mean... “where were you when i needed to hear it?” “i was there. where were you?” and dean looking back at cas one last time before running away)
this is their first big break-up and it takes them until the s7 finale to make up
special shoutout to cas watching dean rake leaves
this ep is a LOT
7x17 - The Born-Again Identity
dean’s FACE when he sEES CAS. and then DEAN’S FACE AGAIN when “emmanuel” is all “what’s your issue?”
dean’s face all throughout that first scene with “emmanuel” and daphne, I’M
“you know, I used to be able to just shake this stuff off. you know, whatever it was. It might take me some time, but... i always could. what cas did... i just can't – i don't know why” BECAUSE YOU’RE IN LOVE WITH HIM, IDIOT
the way dean interrupts all irritated when meg goes “i think we're gonna be good friends too” at “emmanuel” (jealous bf much gsdlksafd)
the way dean kept the trenchcoat just in case so he can give it back to cas should he return (which ofc he did)!!!!
7x21 - Reading is Fundamental
yet another one of those “how do I know dean is in love with cas? bc sam isn’t”
at the beginning of the ep at some point sam’s phone rings and when he says that meg (who is watching over cas at the mental hospital) is calling, dean is quick to stand up and even tho meg called sam, dean is the one who ends up having the phone call with her lmao
also dean has no chill during that phone call lmao (he’s irritated when he finds out meg didn’t call them right then and there as soon as cas woke up and he’s immediately concerned when meg says cas is different, while sam’s just standing there holding his phone out to dean, being all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ lmao)
dean: *pissed af at cas*    also dean: *almost breaks his own neck at the speed with which he whips his head around at the mention of cas’s name and is desperate to know his location when cas calls meg after dean blasted him away with some other angels at the hospital*
ok no but then meg tells cas their location and cas zaps into the car and it’s hilarious how quick dean is to interrupt whenever cas turns his attention to meg in that scene
8x07 - A Little Slice of Kevin
dean seeing cas everywhere
when you see your best dudebro outside the window in the middle of a storm but when you get up he’s gone and you feel like crap because you could’ve made it out of the war zone together and you just cannot fathom why he didn’t try harder and you just don’t understand why you’re feeling what you’re feeling (and judging by dean’s reaction to sam’s suggestion, clearly it’s not survivor’s guilt)
dean’s FACE when cas suddenly appears behind him in the bathroom
jacting joices: the infamous boner scene (yet another example of “how do I know dean is in love with cas? bc sam isn’t”)
jacting joices pt 2: sam and dean are talking case and then cas walks over to join the conversation and there is literally no reason for dean to check cas out (see here)
during the rescue mission when cas zaps into the room and has a stand-off with crowley and then when dean finally manages to break into the room, can i just say... the way dean immediately rushes to cas (who’s ended up on the floor) and grabs him by the shoulder before he bothers to look around the room
D: “that was a bonehead move back there. you could have gotten yourself killed. why didn't you wait for me?” C: “well, i didn't get killed. and it worked” D: “and if it didn't?” C: “it would have been my problem.” D: “well, that's not the way i see it.”
the purgatory flashbacks when dean keeps insisting that cas is coming along with them back to earth and won’t hear otherwise
“i did everything I could to get you out – everything! i did not leave you.”  “so you think this was your fault?”
“look, I don't need to feel like hell for failing you, okay? for failing you like i've failed every other godforsaken thing that i care about! i don't need it!”
i know we hate buckleming but this episode, man. this episode
8x08 - Hunteri Heroici
i was gonna put this as a special shoutout but then it turned out that i had more to say about this ep than i initially thought
it’s the way dean and cas keep gravitating towards each other in the first half of the episode. no seriously, they somehow keep ending up beside each other and you start wondering “what’s personal space” (friendly reminder that this is the ep right after they’re finally back together again after purgatory)
the married energy and the bickering
the “talk to me” scene where cas finally opens up to dean (but then interrupting moose strikes)
at the retirement home dean to sam and cas: “no flirting you two” then CUT to: dean and cas sitting at a table with an elderly lady who is staring at cas with heart eyes and... lady: “you are so pretty, charles” dean: *must look at young nurse’s butt immediately to distract myself from gay thoughts*
i’m sorry but the way he smiles so widely at cas at one point when they’re talking to that lady, like, she’s just called cas a bounder and dean’s amused about that but his amusement is not in any way malicious and his face is just so full of love when he looks at Cas, it’s embarrassing really (see here)
9x06 - Heaven Can't Wait
ok so i haven’t watched this ep in like 5 years so my memories on this aren’t as fresh as with the previous eps but! it’s the way that cas and dean act exactly like exes (who are still in love with each other) in this ep
dean’s face as he’s staring at cas through the shop window
dean’s smile when he shows up inside the shop
the entire “i can’t let you do this cas” scene in the car
the infamous fanfiction gap
special shout out to:
5x18 - Point of No Return for all the bickering (“you know what? blow me, cas”) and especially  “well, cas, not for nothing, but the last person who looked at me like that… i got laid.”
6x10 - Caged Heat for the pizza man and dean’s reaction to all the megstiel (like jealous bf much?)
6x19 - Mommy Dearest for the strong married energy dean and cas give off in this ep (honestly, all their bickering, it’s glorious) (friendly reminder that this is right before tmwwbk)
7x23 - Survival of the Fittest for the “i’d rather have you cursed or not” scene
8x02 - What's Up, Tiger Mommy? for the purgatory flashbaks with that one monster calling cas dean’s angel and the reunion scene by the river with highlights such as “nice peach fuzz” and “i prayed to you cas, every night” and “i have a price on my head, and i've been trying to stay one step ahead of them, to – to keep them away from you” and “cas, we're getting out of here. we're going home” and “cas, buddy, i need you” and “let me bottom-line it for you. i'm not leaving here without you. understand?”
8x17 - Goodybe Stranger for “i don't know, dean. if he's so sketchy, then why were you praying to him?” and the entire crypt scene (yes this is a big one and yes i’m still only putting it as a special shoutout and yes it’s bc of the megstiel content this ep ok bye <3)

hi, could you do 10.4 for ep reviews
10.04 Final Thoughts
It’s been a hot minute, but I’m still doing these! I remember being frustrated by this episode when I first watched it. But hey, it’s actually pretty good, and I enjoy it a lot more after s13-15 than I ever could in the s10 era.
Tumblr media
There is a fix, and there is no fix.
Such a large part of season 10 is about a meta signal that the fun of s9/the first few episodes of s10 is coming to a close--the fun as in, setting Sam and Dean specifically and indisputably at odds, in a way where Dean is specifically in the wrong. So much of my antipathy towards s10 is tied up in that miserable little beach scene timeskip, in what it fundamentally deflects. Gone forever is the movement that s9 implied. Gone forever is the chance at a reckoning. And it needn’t have been that way, not necessarily. I have such complicated emotions about s10.
But, y’know, despite the show signaling that it wants to tell us that the strife of s9 is over, that the brothers aren’t mad at each other anymore, that their relationship is being reset back to basics, there’s a lot that simply can’t be reset. And it’s in those spaces that I like season 10, where the narrative focus isn’t on what is or isn’t the Mark’s influence, or how Dean’s dealing with being even more rage-y than usual: where the unresolved past is all that we get and all that we need.
Dean needling Sam about wearing a sling... like haha fucking nerd, wearing a goofy sling because you got injured trying to undemonify me. Classic comedy.
Also classic comedy: it is HILARIOUS that both the show and Dean are trying to make the Lester situation into some moral watershed for Sam. Especially when Dean’s the guy who killed him, lmao.
And Sam’s not tormented or apologetic about it, he’s literally just--confused! Like me, he really doesn’t see any moral line he crossed there that he and Dean haven’t crossed on the daily for years.
It’s overtly, hilariously, a “And now we’re both in the wrong” moment--Dean trying to draw a false equivalence between their respective degeneracies in the early part of s10. It’s the same equivalence that the show tried to pull, tonally. Supernatural has a real addiction to this kind of attempted equalization—it needs the brothers on the same level even when they aren’t; it presupposes that an interesting conflict requires that both parties be more or less equally in the “wrong”.
That moment when Sam says—I watched you die. I carried your corpse. I put your dead body on your bed. Well, it hits different now, doesn’t it.
This is my favorite type of SPN MOTW episode, where we dispense entirely with any plausible deniability or narrative posturing, and go ahead and make parallels into anvils. Like, of course we’re doing a case about a sister whose craving for blood and power has rendered her uncontrollably violent. Naturally.
The core thread here is what is and isn’t Kate’s sister, and therefore what is and isn’t Dean. It’s both an excuse and a reckoning. Tasha did not take on her curse by choice, but she chose to use it to leverage her power over other people—in doing so, she becomes someone Kate says, dramatically, isn’t her sister.
Sam uses it to set Dean apart from his actions and from the Mark, to exonerate him, and to justify violence/action against demon!Dean. He doesn’t need to forgive Dean, he doesn’t need Dean’s apologies or thank-yous, because he simply says it wasn’t Dean.
To complicate our parallels, though, it’s Kate who made a medical decision for Tasha without her knowledge or consent, and then Kate who kills Tasha--a Righteous Kill (tm) through and through, done for the ~real~ Tasha’s own good.
Obviously it’s also to prevent Tasha from continuing to be a super-powered serial killer for no good reason, too. But the narrative thrust here has a delightfully uncomfortable kill-her-to-save-her element... such that even though I got the feeling while watching that we were meant to be fearing Sam killing a Mark-addled Dean, it just fundamentally couldn’t land that way. That move is just way too Dean-coded.
10.04 actually does a great job of encapsulating s10 at its best: the strange combination of ignoring and glorifying and dismantling the show’s underpinnings, all with a baffling degree of a lack of self-awareness. The rich irony of Dean wanting so badly to do the right thing, juxtaposed with him ready to kill at the drop of a hat, would be more interesting if it weren’t already what the show is about, sans murder tattoo.

StackedNatural Day 77: 10x09, 11x09

10x09: The Things We Left Behind
Written by: Andrew Dabb
Directed by: Guy Norman Bee
Original air date: December 9, 2014
Plot Synopsis:
When Castiel finds Jimmy's daughter in a group home, she persuades him to break her out; Crowley is faced with a big challenge.
Features:
Claire who is maybe my favourite character of all time, jailbreak with Claire, Cas is kind of a doof, Dean and Cas’ little date, Rowena was a horrible mother, Claire gets sold out, Dean slaughters.
My Thoughts:
I LOVE Claire and I love Kathryn Newton as Claire. She was a great casting choice. I love when Supernatural takes a moment to stop and look at the actual human cost of the characters’ choices and behaviours, even when they were the right thing to do. Like yeah, they would have lost the fight to stop the apocalypse without Cas, but Claire still lost her dad and that still matters. I find individual and personal consequences a lot more interesting than the global consequences because they’re so specific rather than generalized.
Bringing Claire back so many years later was such a great choice by the writers (Dabb can have some rights for writing this episode). Her and Cas’ relationship is so interesting, he’s so awkward but cares so much, and she’s so desperate for love but too afraid to trust any that’s offered to her.
The Crowley-Rowena dynamic rules as well. I love Mark Sheppard and Ruth Connell and they are so great onscreen together. Just really fun scenes.
This is also the episode with Dean and Cas’ little date! I don’t remember much from watching this episode live when it aired but I do remember a solid chunk of us losing our minds over that scene. They’re so comfortable with each other, and Cas can see through Dean’s front so easily, and they so obviously care about each other. I love it.
I know that the final scene is meant to show us Dean losing control of himself because of the Mark, and I know that makes sense to start with someone whose death can be justified in Dean’s mind so that the progression of the Mark makes sense, but it is awfully hard to feel bad for a bunch of dudes who were gonna rape Claire and then sell her into the sex trade. I mean obviously the ferocity of the killing and the insane amount of violence is crazy, but imo they deserved what they got.
Notable Lines:
“Now I realize that there is no righteous path. It’s just people trying to do their best in a world where it’s far too easy to do your worst.”
“So you’re having a midlife crisis.” “Well, I’m extremely old. I think I’m entitled.”
“Did I tell you the time she almost traded me for three pigs? THREE! I was an attractive child. I “You want to talk to me about wrong? You killed my dad. Is that wrong enough for you?”
“I used to pray to you, Castiel. Every night. I would beg you to bring him home safe.”

11x09: O Brother Where Art Thou?
Written by: Buckleming
Directed by: Robert Singer
Original air date: December 9, 2015
Plot Synopsis:
With Amara leaving a trail of bodies in her search for God, Sam enlists Crowley and Rowena to set up a meeting between him and Lucifer in the cage.
Features:
Amara is all grown up, watch a bitch call lightning, burning bushes, Amara’s search for God, Rowena reads the Book of the Damned, Sam talks to Lucifer, Dean talks to Amara, Sam gets trapped in the Cage.
My Thoughts:
I took a break between watching this ep and writing this blurb to eat dinner and when I got up to go back to the computer all I could think was “back to my grim work” so you could say that I didn’t care for this episode.
Listen, we all know I hate Buckleming as writers. We all know I hate Singer as a director. But I had never seen this episode before and somehow in my pea brain I convinced myself that this one might be good because it has a really high IMDb rating. And yet here we are.
Too many things that should be shrouded in mystery are made concrete. I hate that the cage is a literal fucking cage. Where are Michael and Adam? Why is hell just stone and torches and lightning?
Why is it that Sam has to talk to the devil right now immediately instead of waiting like an hour for Dean and then making literally any kind of plan for the encounter with his life’s biggest source of trauma? Why are we doing a Cage plot again when there’s already tons of lore in-show on how to open it? Why did we have to end the episode with a little rape threat?
The Amara-Dean “romance” is laughably unsexy to watch. The only cool thing in that scene was that Amara delivers a raw ass line and the knife shatters, and the knife shattering doesn’t even make sense because Dean isn’t an idiot and knows that it would never work so he shouldn’t have tried.
I look at the angels in this episode and just get really sad because they kind of gave up casting actors with any degree of gravitas. Remember Lazarus Rising? When angels caused earthquakes and burned the eyes out of demons and scared the shit out of everyone. And now they stand around in weird union meetings. Also, they’re supposed to be warriors and yet their combat strategy is “slowly advance one at a time so she has a lot of time to kill us”.
The one good thing about this episode was that I was watching with Lyall, by brother-in-law, who has seen a lot of Supernatural but not hyperfixated on it the way I have, and yet still gets worked up about bad writing. Some of his powerful takes:
“Daniel is a very powerful name and they gave it to THIS guy?”
“There’s a way to do this story that isn’t ‘everything we’ve already done but worse’, but it’s Buckleming so they can only regurgitate the work of better writers.”
“When Amara says she can’t be resisted that’s the metanarrative talking about heteronormativity.”
“Why did they try to cover three season’s worth of arcs in one episode?”
Wait, I lied, the best part of the episode is Amara talking about the bliss Dean feels when he’s near her and Jensen’s face is just completely blank.
Notable Lines:
“It’s incredible. How it endures, the propaganda. He was so threatened by me, fearful that I would make a more perfect creation than he.”
“I was the beginning and I will be the end. I will be all that there is.”
“It wasn’t God inside your head Sam. It was me.”
Laura’s (completely subjective) Episode Rating: 1.9
IMdB Rating: 9.2
In Conclusion: It’s been a while since I’ve felt justified in saying “the epic highs and lows of Stackednatural”.
