madge is considerably "plain and boring" but only because she's never really lived and she holds her emotions so tightly to her chest because it's what she's been taught and instructed by her dad and i dont think she's ever really felt real or alive and she literally is the way she is because she does not have an identity nor is she encouraged to develop one and when u don't have an identity, how can u truly perceive anything properly, so u learn how to be quiet, and u learn how to repress, and you learn to take everything and put it inside and live with it

#i say shes 'plain and boring' but ajdjsskjhdfjs only bc shes a difficult conversationalist #i do think she's much more complex than she lets on.#because having lack of individualism or identity for madge is a way of survival #and it can be interesting to observe as well bc for someone who's so tightly wounded by the perception she receives #and the possible pressure she endures within her household [as her father works or receives orders directly from the capitol]#when this DOES break. it breaks in such?? a remarkable way #remember how m/adge went out of the way to give k4tniss that pin #and then to help g4le with the whipping.#its almost like. she holds herself so tightly that when she DOES react. she reacts in the most extreme sense she knows #like....... maybe she does carry the plain girl trope yanno. but that doesnt make her any less interesting to me #bc she is. quite frankly.
