I joke a lot about Bruce and Tim's relationship basically being
Bruce: son
Tim: fellow associate
But like. The fact that had Tim does actually see Bruce as some form of a father figure. The fact that had Jack been a better father to Tim, Bruce would have never been able to be in that role for Tim. Just. The thought that Tim had to fight himself against that because Bruce was an older adult that was paying attention to him and was actively trying to impart knowledge to him in an attempt to get him prepared for adulthood. Even in a completely batshit and insane way.
Like. The bar was on the ground! That shit was fucking underground even! The fact that it was enough! It's so wild. Tim managed to be the first of the boys to have actual living parents when he became Robin but his relationship with them was so negligible to begin with that he still had such a fucked up dynamic with Bruce after.
#dick didn't have this problem because his parents were good and then were gone and bruce just couldn't replace them and they both knew it#and jason didn't have a dad in his life but there was no guilt in filling that role for him#and then tim shows up and neither of them can emotionally afford to place themselves in this dynamic#but like in the worst way because that is the dynamic they want from each other but like fucked up#sorry I just have a lot of thoughts about this it's such a fucking mess#thinking of tim who had so many parents and yet not really#what a fucking mess#ngl I think damian is the one that comes closest to having such a shit show for parental figures#dc#bruce wayne#tim drake
