We talk a lot about the merits of pop culture vs 'high culture' on this website and anti-intellectualism and stuff but where's the appreciation for ppl who deeply enjoy both. Can we make some noise for people who's favorite movies are like. Ratatouille and Eraserhead? Or something?
#ramblings of a lunatic#posting with no tags. the girls who get it get it#inspired by a conversation i saw on comic twt pitting two sort of. arbitrary 'types' of comics together#saying ''not every comic needs to be A! some can be B!'' but they made the mistake of disparaging A by calling the writers 'lore nerds'#and then their examples for the superior/underrated B comics were like. grant morrison#and ppl were like ''hey wait a minute-''#and it just made me realize how like. arbitrary the distinction they were making was (even tho there was distinction!-#-and merit to what they were saying!) and how you usually tend to enjoy both for similar reasons (good writing. just diff kinds)#anyway. this isn't exactly like that but it got my brain going#I've (famously if u read my tags. lmao) got a lot of weird complexes surrounding art analysis and consumption#the kind that can only be gained from being an avid tumblr user from 2016 through to 2020/onward#i think this ^ is one of the healthier attitudes i can have. but that's just me personally everyone's different
