does anyone who follows me like. Understand monitors well?

i have a mid-2014 Macbook Pro (so it has retina display) and i want a small external monitor that I can hook it up to with HDMI, and i’d also like if i could hook my gamecube to it with its RCA connector if that’s even a thing monitors have and like... i don’t understand what any of these computer things i’ve been reading mean. i think i want a monitor with IPS???? basically i’m a graphic designer so i would like to have Good resolution/color accuracy/etc and from what i understand IPS is good with that??? other than that i’m not sure what i want. i’d like it if it could look as close as possible to what’s on my mac screen if that’s a thing that exists

idk anyway does anyone have like. advice? i don’t know enough of the nitty gritty computer shit to understand what anything i’m reading online means
