i think that everyone currently going through aemond targaryen withdrawal should go read the wolf and the woodsman by ava reid because the love interest is a one-eyed religious second son prince with daddy issues AND it’s just an overall amazing fantasy novel inspired by jewish and hungarian history with a fantastic exploration of nationalism, nation-building, religion, and jewish identity and culture.

#there is a scene where the love interest kneels before the main character to declare his love and reading it changed me as a person #i was already thinking about this earlier bc i saw a copy of the book at the library #and then i also saw ava reid make the comparison on social media so this is actually an author mandated pitch #i am using my power of having an encyclopedic knowledge of fantasy novels for good in order to make people read them #pie says stuff #the wolf and the woodsman #ava reid #aemond targaryen #house of the dragon #hotd #i love evike and gaspar so much #big fan of romances where one character is stoic and dutiful and the other has decided to be loud and annoying on purpose #and it's partially a road trip novel i love fantasy road trips
