Merry Christmas!

Throughout Benjamin's youth, C.hristmas had always been a favorite time of year. After the ever-changing colors of autumn, the brisk winters came about and brought on weeks of baking, numb noses, carefully planned parties, and the ever-joyful songs that rang from his father's very c.hurch.

And yet, once the w.ar came and ravaged the c.olonies, the treasured holiday soon blended into every other day: arduous, cold, bleak, forgotten. Still, with the other's pleasant well wishes, Benjamin found his grim features softening into a smile, a buoyant sensation swirling within his chest at the welcome reminder.

"Thank you..." A touch sheepish, Benjamin inclined his head and replied, "And a Merry C.hristmas to you, as well. I'm afraid I don't have anything in particular to offer, but should you desire it, I have a bit of rum leftover from Brewster's last venture." A more genuine smile fell into place. "But be careful: it's a bit on the strong side."
