druck new gen theory time! so, the last ep of og skam features several different POV’s who never got their own season: vilde, chris, even, jonas, william, and p chris. the first gen of druck follows the original 4 POV’s, but what if druck is actually fulfilling those POV’s that never got their own season?
druck s5: Nora Machwitz (Even), Kiki’s younger sister. Kiki is the German version of Vilde, and Nora’s season deals with mental illness, much like the Evens do in the original seasons of the Skams. Nora’s season also deals with her mother’s alcoholism, and how that affects her and her other sisters. Throughout the season, we also get insight to Kiki’s treatment for her ED, Kiki deciding to go to college in Trier and study psychology, and how Kiki tends to put her sisters’ wellbeing above her own.
druck s6: Fatou Jallow (Chris), Nora’s friend and part of the new gen Girl Squad. Fatou is a person who struggles with conflict and making decisions, much like Chris Berg and her counterparts in Skam. Like Sam, the Druck Chris, Fatou is a Black girl living in Berlin, and her season has also been highlighting white feminism, white fragility, and performative activism. Fatou also struggles with a possible learning disability, which also gives insight into why Fatou gives off this confidence on the outside, but struggles a lot internally.
possible future druck mains:
Ava (Jonas): ava is very invested in social justice and equality, like Jonas from OG. like fatou, she is a Black girl living in Berlin, and has been a large part of the subplot about performative activism in Fatou’s season. She has also struggled a lot with being a victim of bullying from the Instas, but doesn't let that deter her from expressing her mind. As shown in Jonas’s POV from OG Skam, Jonas was torn between Emma, his new girlfriend, and Eva, his ex, which parallels Ava’s relationships with Mark in s7 and her insta flirtation with Huelk in s6. i expect ava’s season will delve more into these topics and ava’s activism, music, family, and romantic life.
Ismail (P-Chris): Ismail is almost like Constantin’s right-hand in the Insta group, but lately, there appears to be more friction between them. In Nora’s season, they were very clear in their dislike of Nora and the Cashqueens, but has grown to like Fatou in s6 with the turtle subplot. Outside of Consti, he is mostly close with Kieu My, Fatou’s love interest. Like P-Chris, I think Ismail struggles with maintaining deeper connections with people and maintaining a certain facade or image on the outside. P-Chris’s POV mostly dealt with Eva saying she wouldn’t date him because he's a “fuckboy,” and then he went and got together with Emma at the Eid party, so I would expect Ismail’s season to really dive into their identity, their insecurities, a genuine connection with a LI, and their friendship with the Instas.
Constantin (William): Like William, Constantin has hinted at having family struggles in the SM content of s6 (his father being abusive?). This parallels William’s struggles with his own family in OG Skam, and also a reason to why he’s so mean towards Ava, Nora, and the other Cashqueens, as well as why he’s not so close to his own friend group. This season would probably have Constantin forced to examine his own choices, as well as his toxic relationships. This season would also probably cover the topic “the cycle of abuse,” and how abuse can be inflicted on one and then that person can turn around and do the same thing to someone else. I’m not sure Constantin would have an LI in his season, but this is just a theory, anyways.
Mailin (Vilde): Mailin’s storylines in s5 and s6 have dealt mostly with her activism, and how her performative activism can harm her friends of color, primarily Ava and Fatou, who are Black. Mailin’s season would give the character more development, and perhaps delve further into a Vilde-like storyline, as her family is rarely mentioned, and give the audience what they wanted from Kiki all along: an apology for how she hurt her non-White friends. Mailin’s season would also give the entire German new gen Girl Squad a main POV, something that wasn’t done in the OG Skam, but attempted in Skam España to a degree of success.
So, there’s my theory for the day! What do you all think?
