28. Art?

Geen blogpost gisteren. A missed opportunity for a Next To Normal title. Press F to pay respect. Ik ben een grote fan van deze meme.

Ik heb net een mega zout omelet gegeten. Ik kan niet doseren.

Mijn zouten omelet vs. Caroline’s suiker omelet. Wie zou winnen?

Maar welkom terug op mijn chaotische blog. Pap stuurde me net al een berichtje “Hallo Wekkie. Hoe gaat het met je ?” Ik moet wel elke dag updaten (jk jk). De muziek is nog steeds Team Starkid (TTO’s Independence! is een tongbreker.)

Ach ja, gisteren had ik geen zin om iets te schrijven, dus nu krijg je alles in één keer. Gisteren was ik precies 3 weken in Slovenië. Tijd gaat snel. Toen Barbara en ik op zaterdag naar de obag store gingen, zei Barbara ook dat het nog steeds als een lange vakantie voelt, maar dat dat gevoel binnenkort wel weg zal trekken. Ik moet dadelijk 49 pagina’s literatuur lezen, dus ja, dat zal wel kloppen.

Deze week is mega rustig, want ik heb maar twee colleges deze week. Dadelijk heb ik GLINT (Gay and Lesbian Introduction yada yada yada) en B&T (Body and Technology yada yada yada ik ben afkortingen aan het maken, zodat ik het niet altijd helemaal voluit hoef te schrijven) op woensdagavond. Maar oef, volgende week heb ik elke dag colleges van ong. 4 uur en op woensdag heb ik zelfs twee colleges.

Voordat ik verder ga, moet je Barbara’s coole obag zien:

Ze vroeg of ik het in elkaar kon zetten terwijl zij naar de print shop ging en toen ze thuis kwam hoorde ik een “oh wow!” vanaf de gang. Blijkbaar is haar binnenkant alleen een rits met twee zakken.

Ik dacht dat het een trim was, dus toen ik het in elkaar ging zetten, was ik zeer verward, maar nu heeft ze dus nog een extra binnenkant. Barbara had ook meteen foto’s gemaakt en blijkbaar is haar moeder nu ook fan.

Ik heb alle spullen die ik gekocht heb op een rij gezet, maar daar maak ik ook wel een aparte photoset van, want dan kan ik alle 3 foto’s naast elkaar zetten i.p.v. onder elkaar.

Dit was uiteindelijk ook het resultaat van de tassen. Alsnog, obag moet me aannemen.

Oké terug naar gisteren. Ik werd weer eens laat wakker, namelijk rond 11:00, want ik had weer eens hoofdpijn in de nacht. Ik werd wakker en de regen was vreselijk. Niemand had zin om iets te doen met dit weer.

Dus ik heb heel veel Lego Harry Potter Year 5 - 7 gespeeld, ook al hing ik vast voor 1 fucking uur op een level. En toen heb ik ook meteen Black Friday gekeken, aangezien dat dus was uitgekomen. Aangezien ik de musical al kende, genoot ik er veel van. Black Friday moet je eerst even verwerken, voordat je het kan waarderen. Dat merkte ik ook aan de reacties online en op mijn Discord.

Dit is gewoon het leven! Een regenachtige dag waar ik binnen zit met mijn games en musicals, terwijl ik koekjes eet en thee drink.

Ik ga jullie het hele gedeelte over Black Friday besparen, want dat heb ik in de vorige blog post al gedaan. Als je de musical wilt zien, dat kan je het 100% gratis op YouTube vinden. Ik ga het niet hier linken, want Black Friday is eigenlijk een deel 2 in een musical trilogie, dus hier is deel 1 The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals:

Eigenlijk waren Caroline, Barbara, een vriendin van Barbara van plan om naar musea te gaan. Musea zijn gratis op de eerste zondag van de maand, maar ik voelde me slecht en Caroline was vermoeid van de reis naar Piran op zaterdag.

Toch besloten Barbara en ik om later iets te gaan doen. We gingen maar het Museum of Modern Art. Barbara ging rond 4 uur al naar de stad om ook naar de kerk te gaan en dan zouden we afspreken bij het museum om 5 uur. Haar vriendin zat nog in München, dus die kon niet komen.

De straat richting het museum zat vol met meerdere kunstgelegenheden. Dit was bijvoorbeeld een andere kunstgallerij:

Eenmaal binnen moest ik nog even wachten op Barbara en er lagen overal paraplu’s. Deze foto had ik gemaakt nadat een groot aantal mensen hun paraplu’s al weg hadden gehaald:

Tijdens het wachten besloot ik ook maar om even te gamen, want ik had wifi van de uni, en...

Op weg naar het museum werd ik ook gestopt door een man die vroeg of ik geloofde in Jezus Christus. Toen ik nee zei, vroeg hij of ik enige voor van religie had en... nee. En toen kreeg ik dit.

Hij zei dat ik dat nummer kon bellen voor als ik me zou bedenken. Yup, that is going into the trash. Ik heb de foto’s gemaakt, omdat ik het wel hilarisch vond. Arme man moest in de vreselijke regen staan om zieltjes te winnen.

Plus het hele “salvation” en “saving” gedoe klinkt precies hetzelfde als dat in Lulu’s boekje, dus ja, wat is nu de waarheid 😒😒😒?

Na een tijd kwam Barbara binnen en we gingen door het museum. Er waren wel een paar coole dingen, zoals dit schilderij met een klein complementaire kleurencontrast palet.

Ook vond ik deze doodles wel grappig.

Er was ook een ruimte dat over de dood ging en namelijk over concentratiekampen. Daar heb ik geen foto’s van gemaakt, want a) het voelde een beetje respectloos en b) de tekeningen die gemaakt zijn in Dachau zijn overduidelijk niet, uh, mooi in de manier dat je er graag naar kijkt. Het waren allemaal kleine tekeningen met potlood of inkt van rottende mensen en wagens met lijken enz.

Op een meer positieve noot: er was ook een hele kamer gebaseerd op het constructivisme. Ik weet nog steeds niet wat ik van constructivistische kunst moet denken (is het niet gewoon hoekerige interior design?), maar de kamer was wel cool.

Er waren ook een paar print art stukken, maar daar heb ik geen foto van. Ik heb wel opgeschreven hoe ze heten, dus misschien kan ik ze nog vinden.

Dit was de ene helft van het museum, de andere helft was iets minder. Dat was meer geweid aan experimentele kunst, zoals dit:

De hele tijd speelde speakers het geluid van een hartslag af. Experimentele kunst is deel van moderne kunst en ik weet niet of het nu leuk is of niet.

Het laat je denken: wat is nu kunst?

Is een steen met wat pigment nu echt kunst? Zijn wijnglazen met acrylverf kunst? Is gekleurd zand kunst?

Op een bepaald moment stond er ook gewoon een deur en ik wist niet of dat nu deel van de expositie was of niet. Dit liet me denken aan het bril experiment, waar een museumbezoeker zijn bril op de grond had gezet en ineens ging iedereen het bekijken en foto’s ervan maken, want mensen dachten dat het deel was van de expositie.

Of dat verhaal van een schoonmaker die een kunstwerk had opgeruimd en vernielt, omdat hij dacht dat die krantenknipsels en bananenschillen afval was.

Bij moderne kunst denk je soms ook: dit kan ik toch ook!

Kijk maar naar die doodles van die foto hierboven. Zijn die zoveel anders dan de kleine tekeningetjes die ik maak? Er was ook een schildersdoek met druppels verf die in elkaar over waren gelopen. Man, nu voel ik me een stuk minder shit over mijn waterverf die overal heen en weer gaat.

Dus ja, ik liep geregeld rond met een what the fre-sh a-vaco-do gevoel. Hier is mijn ~hot take~: alles kan kunst zijn als er een reden achter zit. Herinner mijn favoriete kunstwerk The Fountain maar. Niet-kunst kan kunst worden door middel van de idee achter kunst. Je kan zelfs zeggen dat die man die zijn bril op de grond legde, ‘performance art’ maakte.

Nou, nu weet ik dat ik mega pretentieus klink en ik weet dat ik in het algemeen de pretentieuze aard van kunst mega kut vind, maar zo zit het in mijn ogen.

De reden dat ik de hele experimentele zijde niets vond was omdat ik totaal geen uitleg kreeg. Ja, dit is zand met pigment. Wow. Geweldig. Ik kan een zak pigment bij de PRO Art halen en ik reis effe met de trein naar Zeeland om die pigment op het strand te dumpen en wow, kunst.

(Firebringers Chron is raar, maar Jamie Burns is de reden dat dit nummer zo goed is. Haar stem is geweldig en ik hoop dat ze terug komt voor een andere show.) (Veel Firebringer vandaag. Nu is het tijd voor Together.)

Uitleg heb je nodig om kunst te begrijpen en zodat kunst je iets kan laten voelen. Dat is de kern. Het is net zoals één van mijn favoriete zinnen uit het boek Eleanor & Park: “Eleanor was right. She never looked nice. She looked like art, and art wasn't supposed to look nice; it was supposed to make you feel something.”

Natuurlijk kan kunst ook gewoon mooi zijn zonder uitleg. In fact, één keer heb ik dat letterlijk geschreven in een kunstopdracht op Bernardinus.

“Wat vind je van dit kunstwerk?”

Mijn antwoord: “Mooi. En ik weet dat we dat woord eigenlijk niet mogen gebruiken, maar soms is kunst gewoon mooi.”

Alsnog, kunst pretentie? Yikes.

Maar twee zandzakken zijn niet “gewoon mooi” en dan is het dus fijn om betekenis en uitleg te krijgen.

Dus ja, de rechterzijde van het museum vond ik niets. De twee zijdes waren verbonden door één grote ruimte met de geschiedenis van Sloveense kunst vanaf ca. 1899 t/m 1999. Het leukste vond ik de foto’s van begin 20e eeuw. Zoals ik bij Citizen Kane ook al zei: het is zo raar om te bedenken dat mensen toen ook al leefden, want het klinkt als een totaal andere tijd. Er was een foto van de grote Main Street in het centrum van Ljubljana uit 1916 ofzo en het is zo cool.

Rond 18:00 gingen Barbara en ik wat drinken in het ondergrondse café van het museum.

Barbara kon me helpen met het vertalen van de kaart, want Sloveens en Kroatisch zijn zowat hetzelfde. Ik had een zwarte thee met strawberry creme smaak en het was best goed.

Oh nee jongens. Het is weer aan het regenen en ik moet dus zo naar college, maar ik wil dus ook nog een paraplu gaan kopen. Blijkbaar gaat het veel regenen.

Oké, dus Barbara en ik waren het met elkaar eens: gelukkig hoefden we niet te betalen voor dit museum. We weten niet wat de eigenlijke prijs geweest zou zijn, maar het feit dat de helft van het museum ons niet aansprak, laat zien dat het waarschijnlijk te veel geweest zou zijn.

Is dat grammaticaal correct?

Eh, whatever.

We bleven in de stad, want we hadden afgesproken om te gaan eten met Kath, Caroline en Anouk van appartement 3. Niet alle restaurants hebben Boni op zondag, maar Kath vond Joe Peña's Cantina y Bar, een Mexicaans restaurant. Het was ook heel mooi binnen, ook al viel ik wel bijna van de trap.

We hadden het ook weer over Boni. Voor €4,30 kreeg je een glas water, een kom soep, salade van een buffet en een mega groot hoofdgerecht.

Ik had een mega grote burrito met spinazie, kip en gesmolten kaas. Verder kreeg ik nog meer salade en een bakje Mexicaanse rijst. Natuurlijk heb ik het meegenomen, dus ik heb vanavond weer avondeten. Ik kan ook weer Boni gaan eten, want ik ben deze avond in het centrum vanwege mijn les. Ik zie wel. Holy shirtballs, ik heb deze mogelijkheid.

Fuck deze playlist. Ik ga Black Friday luisteren. Geen liveblog/music rec, want ik ken het nog niet goed genoeg.

Dus dat was gisteren.

Vandaag heb ik nog niet veel gedaan, maar de dag is nog niet voorbij. Ik heb de main game van Lego Harry Potter Year 5 - 7 uitgespeeld, dus nu begint het leuke deel: collecting!

Verder heb ik de laatste Doctor Who aflevering gekeken en yup, ze hebben alweer de hele geschiedenis van de Doctor herschreven. Shocking. De aflevering heeft niet eens alles opgelost, dus hoera, cliffhanger. Dit hele seizoen was mega verwarrend, dus ik denk dat ze een main storyline willen gaan uittrekken over 2 seizoenen en ik weet niet of ik dit leuk vind.

Ook heb ik boodschappen gedaan en de self-check outs zijn de Spar zijn geüpdatet, dus eindelijk ging het eens goed.

En ja. Dat is het voor nu.

For some reason, the insurance coverage I have seems to go up every year (and because I moved recently it jumped up another $60 a month). My wife and I get crappy coverage on top of it.
