#and the whole Padawan thing remains an unjustifiable curve ball out of left field

Yeah, really. I do think it's interesting to simply have a bad Jedi character, aka someone who has close to zero Force ability, like Sabine in the show.
But there's always such a push to make characters into lightsaber-wielding Jedi, who are not (Sabine, Finn), and it destroys the variety of characters and storylines that can be meaningful and interesting, especially when those characters and storylines already exist.
It's simply more interesting at this point to have non-Jedi characters. Finn is more interesting as a non-Jedi, and so is Sabine. I want to see the non-Jedi stories. I want to see non-Jedi stories in the context of Jedi, I want to see how normal people relate to them and deal with them and fight them.
It's just more interesting than Jedi everything all the time.
the way that, if you took away her armor and the two or three lines referencing it, you would literally never know that sabine was a mandalorian in the ahsoka show. filoni completely stripped her of her culture (and personality) and never gave her a meaningful scene talking about the destruction of mandalore or her family. all in favor of giving her a bad and poorly executed padawan storyline, because apparently a character canā€™t be interesting unless theyā€™re a jedi
#commentary#ahsoka#i hope sabine stays a terrible Jedi forever lol#she deserves it and so do we#bring back the art and Mandalorianness#the show was fine but like#it was very superficial if you hadn't seen rebels#and the whole Padawan thing remains an unjustifiable curve ball out of left field#not even to mention ahsoka abandoning her with zero remorse or apology#SO out of character
