Celebrated 4/20 while watching the first few episodes of Revolutionary Girl Utena last night, and woke up still reeling with feelings about the connections between the coffin symbolism and the egg symbolism (and also about the soft textures of those watercolor-y backgrounds, and about love and gender and breaking the chains of oppression)
#it’s about the parallels between birth and death and rebirth though#they both symbolize the old world and a treacherous sense of security#they’re the things that need to be broken and left behind to enter into life meaningfully#the ‘smash the world’s shell’ bit.
