interesting to think about the recent Wholesome Cozy UWU fantasy trend and compare it to tolkien, who created the ultimate Wholesome Cozy Little Guys only to put them through absolute hell.

#and the shire isn't really as Cozy Wholesome UWU as people tend to think like hobbits can be fucking vicious #they're just gossipy bitches who don't trust anyone who lives more than two miles away from them and i love them for it #not to mention the class system and the systemic misogyny but anyway my point is idk how well cozy fantasy actually works in practice #stories need conflict characters need to suffer and sometimes you're only cozy and safe at the expense of others #anyway. much to think about #lotr
