ok since I keep talking about music im plugging my Spotify playlists here's one with some of my favorite jazz/blues songs, here's random ass punk of varying subgenres, here's one with some of my favorite R&B (mostly 90s lol), heres a rap/hip hop one, here's some ska punk with random Celtic punk and shit thrown in there, and some country w a bit of folk (so much johnny cash)
and my holy grail playlist: every song from every tony hawk pro skater game (including the remaster)
#all of these are pretty narrow within their genre because ive found my favorite subgenres on some and need to explore others way more#like the jazz is all songs with lyrics bc when i want to listen to instrumental only i usually do a john coltrane album#and the rap is almost all from the 80s + 90s lmao. i dont listen to a lot of new music in any genre so all of these are mostly 20+ yrs old#but if u want to like dip ur toe into the deep pools of these genres they are a starting point#please.... ignore my dumbass playlist names jabdksn#music

Love Yourself 承 Her Analysis
this is an overview of the whole album at first listen.
disclaimer: this is just my opinion, feel free to disagree. let me know your thoughts in my ask box
overall: this whole album is great in a way that its centred around the genre of electro pop synth. and honestly, it fits really well, not just for one song but all throughout. im really satisfied with it though. the distribution of lines this time round is more balanced with seokjin having more lines and taehyung too. this album is centred more on harmonies between the members, often hearing this double voice between the lyrics with common harmonies between seokjin with jimin and taehyung with jungkook. this is evident inside almost all the songs but more in mic drop and best of me. not to mention with the rapline doing more vocal lines and vocal line doing more rap ahhh
1. serendipity: okay so honestly, i was expecting a bit because this is the intro of the song, and usually it was the rap line who did this so i was taken by surprise to find out that jimin, from the vocal line was doing it. at first i was confused as to how the song came out but it definitely had the vibe that namjoon wrote/produced it to which i found out later that it was true haha. but anyway, jimin’s riffs and vocals really shone here and ahhh, its like honey. not to mention the great aesthetics that of course our dear lumpens stuck by - minimalism with strict colour palettes mostly from yellow and blue
2. dna: the title track ah yes. i was hooked by the whistling sound but from the two teasers i was a bit curious as to how this whole electro pop- song would sound in general because i was interested in how the bass would be implemented inside etc and i was guessing that teaser 2 would be the bridge which actually did !! so it started out with great aesthetics as usual, taking note of the saturation and colour schemes. im a big fan of lumpens work honestly. so at first, taehyung started off the song, and usually he’s not the one to start it off, it was always raps or jungkook often to start it off ( just like Let Me Know ) but i was a bit sceptical about how it sounded but then hoseok came in and im like ah this is great. his part reminded me of his part in wings. ah great but the relatively slower raps to match the beat etc and ah the pre chorus is amazing. i really loved it though when the chorus came i was a bit unsure about the beat but the choreography made up for it with hoseok and jungkook on the floor sliding, and emphasising on the point of dna thats intertwined was done really well. need i mention how seokjin has more lines !!! the aesthetics are great i love them all. the lalala part towards the end in which hoseok dominated made the song more fun to conclude in my opinion. btw now that i think of it, the lalala part somehow reminds me a bit of daft punk, specifically pentatonic rendition of the various daft punk songs here . not to mention how the chorus is actually dubstep but at the same time, it doesn't sound overwhelming because they managed to find balance in between the bridge and verses, with the slow buildup towards the chorus etc.
3. best of me: this song is great, why? because though it was a collab with chainsmokers, its almost different. actually, when i heard the news of them collaborating with chainsmokers, i was a bit hesitant as chainsmokers has this distinct sound throughout all their songs but the moment you listen to the beat, you know its them. but bts has done an amazing job to manipulate the beat to fit their sound while retaining the sound of chainsmokers in the chorus. its this soft rave song that gets you pumped but not yet jumping. i love this not to mention how it sounds a bit 80s in the chorus and i love in the chorus !! and i love the 80s thanks to my parents. correct me if im wrong but yoongi has some vocal lines here eeeeepp
4. dimple: dimple has this nice intro to it that draws you in. it reminds me of western music, specifically something like the 1975, those like distorted sirens in way and again taehyung starting it off with his low timbres of his voice ahhhh, the vocal line shining within the first verse, and to be honest, when you read the lyrics, its so cute lmao. the bridge !!!! dont ignore the bridge !!! and now that i realised that its actually a vocal line song, no rap at all and ahHHH guess this is to balance ut mic drop and ahHHHH
5. pied piper: lmao this whole song is based on the story, its really funny, they’re saying that bts themselves are the pied piper and we are the ones following them. i feel like they are half dissing us but its okay, its just a joke lmao, the beat keeps you succinct and sustained throughout the song. and jin’s vocals !!!!!! and jimin harmonising with seokjin. their ad-libs with ah oh and ah ah, yes love this. love how the beat died down to contrast between the verses and choruses. btw did you hear that ringing sound at the end, the last few seconds eeep, the distorted extended sound, but i like how they linked it to the beat of the song and eventually ending it with those ringing sounds and silence of about 3 seconds to the end ahhh
6. skit: billboard music awards: lmao this was so cute, something that bts always does in their albums to have a skit and this was when they won the top social artist award that caused everyone in the world to pay attention to them. not to mention namjoon low-key dropping hints and he did it so subtly that everyone thought he was just being a sweet cheesy egg but guess not !!! they got us whipped. tbh if you were to with bon voyage in episode 3 when bts was watching the sunset at the mountains/hills, yoongi blurted out ‘isn't that our album colour’ lmao so cute.
7. mic drop: ah yes the song that bts will be performing together with dna ah yes. i was so excited for this, but the beat is so good, so old school and laid back, it reminds me of seo taiji vibes. ah love it. and bang pd went to hint that this might be the new cypher. honestly this is great. i love the hiphop vibe in this. its reeking of it and i love it. the gunshots are amazing. yes love this. reminds me of their early debut days. this type of song. but theres someone else rapping inside but i cant put my finger onto who it was. i love this. ahHHH yes to hiphop. and the fact that this was inspired by obamas mic drop last year. love this and the underlying political hints yes. ah yes the love the beat. ive a feeling its jungkook and taehyung inside here ahhhand they did mention how rapped jungkook is back again ahhh
8. go go/고민보다 Go: i really love the intro here. it sounds like a marimba in the beginning and the recorder supporting this. ah love this. somehow reminds me of pied piper. this is great. ah, they aren’t going hard at all but rather calm and soothing but enough to pique your interests. and taehyung’s part with how he slurs his words against the recorder lmao. this reminds me of sope with hoseok’s punishment with he recorder in his nose and yoongi was casually sipping on champagne. and based on the facafe, they will be performing this song as theres a fan chant for it. anyway towards the end, theres this reggae feel to it. love this so much. and the constant beat towards at the end with each of them to use to hype the crowd. love this, a perfect song to get the audience to join you. and ah the sound of the recorder at the end.
9. outro: her: ah the piano sounds. just like those teasers but ahhh namjoon taking this outro and rapping it. its this soft rap, love this. reminds me of something that you could listen to when it rains. idk. and the distortion of voices at the back that gave rise to yoongi coming in yesssss. ‘ and i call you her ‘cause you’re my dear’ and then hoseok pumps the beat for this as the beat in contrast to his voice is lowered down but ahhh he’s spitting words. his rapping here reminds me of Bizzy from MFBTY, a famous legendary rapper especially in the 90s to early 2000s, who's in a group with Tiger JK. the vibe of hoseok’s rap reminds me of BIzzy’s performance in Show me the Money here , specifically at 9.10 and i love this !!!! i’m really excited how this would turn out and it was great ahh, it reminds me of some slow rap you’ll here in a jazz cafe. i would pay to listen to this while sipping on some coffee
anyway then again, this is just my opinion, because i like to analyse music and the aesthetics~ im surprised this whole album has no ‘hard’ song and the closest one is mic drop but its not as hard because its old school as compared to like not today, dope or 뱁새 but wow this album is great ahhhh lets stream more and give them our love!!! remember, v app broadcast is at 8PM KST
i would love to know your opinions on this !!! eeeep, do remember to stream the video right here .
