Homestuck 2 has updated. It’s a Christmas Miracle! As always, this liveblog is tagged “Homestuck 2 Liveblog” is you want to filter it out. Today, we’re still in Candlyland, and it’s time to meet the Vriskas! 

For those who blocked out the epilogues, the one in the stripes is Vriska Maryam-Lalonde, who was adopted by Rose and Kanaya, and the shadowed Vriska is Vriska Serket, the post-retcon version who went to defeat Lord English. She definitely just fucked and killed Gamzee, despite the fact that she is 16 and he is middle-aged. Since having two characters named “Vriska” is confusing, Vriska Serket is getting referred to as (Vriska), in parenthesis, but just to make sure we don’t get any less confused, the pre-retcon Vriska Serket was also called (Vriska) and is presumably out in space somewhere with pre-Retcon Terezi since those two were last seen cuddling in the Furthest Ring watching the universe collapse from a safe distance in what is arguably the “end” of Homestuck’s alpha timeline, but could very plausibly also have gotten sucked into the Black Hole and landed on Candyland Earth.

Okay, everyone understand what’s going on? No? Fuck you, it’s Homestuck. 

Minutes in the past, but not many, (Vriska) pockets John’s phone before she can worry too much about waiting for a reply from Terezi.

Oh, right, Vriska has John’s phone and thus can communicate with the alive Terezi on Dirk’s ship, the one remaining connection between Candyland and Meatspace. 

Oh man, if Homestuck was still popular you’d see this cosplay at anime conventions a lot, wouldn’t you?

VRISKA: That’s the Right Call. VRISKA: So, Nickname me, 8itch. And make it Cute.

Okay, disregard my entire opening Paragraph. Vriska Serket is now back to being Vriska with no parenthesis, and Vriska Maryan-Lalonde is now nicknamed “Vrissy” so that everyone gets a unique-ish name. Hooray, we’re all caught up. Also there’s like an 80% chance these two are going to get together at some point. Also also, what’s up with Vriska’s eyepatch? 

She didn’t have that in Act 7, and she didn’t get it in the epilogues, I just checked, and there’s no space in-between Act 7 and the epilogues or the epilogues or now for her to have gotten it off-screen. These panels are going out of their way to hide her eyes, but since the epilogues explicitly confirmed she has normal eyes (and thus is still alive), I don’t know what they’re hiding.

VRISSY: Yeah, but Vrissy is a Thing now. Roll with it. TAVROS: Okay, uh,, Vrissy, VRISSY: We kinda Need a Ride

Speaking of mysteries, why does Tavros Crocker have a troll typing quirk if he’s the son of two humans, and thus presumably a human himself, with no relation whatsoever to the original Tavros? I can’t help but notice Tavros is typing in Gamzee purple instead of Tavros’s original bronze color, so I have a terrifying feeling that Tavros is going to be the biological son of Jane and Gamzee somehow and the epilogues just danced around that. Maybe I’m being too pessimistic.

Oh thank Christ. Also there is absolutely nothing interesting on Vriska’s face, so I’m not sure why there were hiding it. Maybe they figured some people would forget Vriska’s alive and wanted to milk a little drama from the casual readers? I dunno. Maybe I’m over-thinking this as well as pessimistic. Still wondering where that eyepatch came from, though. 

Aww, he’s cute. I like his snazzy suit jacket. Also: This is the first named character in the entirety of Homestuck to have come out of a vagina like a normal person instead of being a an ecto-clone.

I don’t think white pants are a great idea in an artstyle where the humans aren’t colored in, though. He looks like he’s Donald Ducking it. 

There’s a Pulp Fiction joke to be made here but I’m not gonna say it

This is very obviously Harry Anderson Egbert. He is a bit less cute. It is very weird to see unimportant background humans in Homestuck. None of the kids in the original comic ever interacted with another human, or mourned the deaths of a single person when the earth was destroyed. Which, conservation of detail and all that, but it still makes it weird to see just Bob Fedorafreak or whoever walking by.

HARRY ANDERSON: yo. VRISSY: Hey HARRY ANDERSON: hey babe, what’s up?

Hm, Harry Anderson (Never just Harry?) refers to Vriska as “babe”, which is rather friendly (Edit from the future: Harry and Vrissy are dating, Vrissy and Tavros are kismesis). Gives me the vibe of like a Hollywood agent, and I suppose his always being “Harry Anderson” backs that up.

I do like this character, or what little we’ve seen of him so far in literally two pages. As the child of the two main families, he’s got the Strilonde “Must be cool at all times” thing mixed in with the Harleybert “Kind of heart, dumb of ass” thing. I also can’t help but notice that Homestuck 2 has almost immediately set up a team of four teenagers, two boys and two girls, two humans and two trolls. If John/Jade/Rose/Dave are the Beta Kids, and Jane/Jake/Roxy/Dirk are the alpha kids, these are, what, the pre-release kids? The Delta Kids? I like the Delta Kids.

VRISKA: You said this was a schoolhive, yeah? VRISKA: We can just dump it in the inciner8or. That’s pro8a8ly what his plan was to 8egin with. VRISSY: The what???????? VRISKA: The inciner8or. Like, for 8odies?? VRISSY: At SCHOOL???????? VRISKA: Yes?

Okay,this got a laugh out of me. A big complaint of Homestuck was that we never got the original four kids all in a room interacting with each other, and now we have a new quartet and they’re immediately in a car together. I’m digging this dynamic of them all being wildly incompetent but in different ways, and if Homestuck 2 is going to have a lot of this kind of thing I’m down for it.

Vriska and Tavros have, through some tortured logic and misunderstanding, decided that the best way to hide Gamzee’s corpse is to carry it into school with them to meet Harry Anderson because they think he has a plan and don’t know he thinks they were joking and has no plan at all. This is legitimately great. Look how confident Vriska is! She thinks this is an amazing plan! And why wouldn’t she? She’s the Thief of Light and she literally has Superpowers that make her super-lucky. 

This is, and I say this in complete sincerity, the most fun Homestuck’s been in years. 

I’m fucking sold on this comic. This is exactly what Homestuck needed.

Reasons I am Terezi:

My soon to be deadname sounds like Terezi.

I have an absurdly long tongue. 

I look and dress like Terezi. [my hair ends up short, and when I straighten it, it always has a curve at the ends like hers. Ive always thought I look like a female version of Karkat and even tried to be more like him.] I primarily wear black t-shirts with nerdy images.

I love mysteries, solving them, and have a knack for knowing the law on an intuitive level.

I had a best fuckin friend forever that I did everything with. We called ourselves the Greythorne Sisters. I was Wither and she was Malice. [telling much?]

When I broke up with her, I.. used my very strong foresight and saw that there would be issues if we stayed friends. Karkat also encouraged me to do it and was outside when I went through with it. After I told her, she literally crumpled, and I hugged her one last time. She didnt expect it at all. ._.

I went insane with regret and self-hatred afterwards.

My ultimate crush looked, acted, and spoke [yelled] EXACTLY like Karkat.

The reason I got into Homestuck was because I was incredibly shocked at how his likeness was captured in the fan art, and even the official art. EVERYTHING is the same except he has grey-blue eyes, caucasion skin color, lacks horns. Everything else is the same. He sounds most like a more masculine version of Broadway Karkat. Very wicked and masculine voice. Extremely intimidating guy despite his size. [hes not short, just shorter than youd expect someone with a cocky personality like his.]

Karkat even called us the Scourge Sisters. 

He hated Vriska. He was jealous of her as well, as anyone interested in me would have been.

I loved Karkat, more than anyone except Vriska, but my self-esteem was too low to believe he legitimately cared about me. On some level I knew he cared about me, but I was too BLIND to see it.

I didnt know I loved Vriska more than Karkat until I had already lost her. v.v

Vriska and I had a serious BDSM relationship [kismesis] after being moirails a very long time. We should have stayed moiraills. :[ It was really my fault that she acted the way she acted.

I am an empath and I can legitimately taste peoples energies. 

I may as well be blind because my eyesight is useless to me without glasses.

My favorite color isnt red, its TEAL, but I have a crazy fetish for fiery guys.

I like to cosplay, and wear capes pretty often. 

Dave is someone I cared about a great deal. He had a crush on me, but I saw him as a brother. Dirk is a total piece of shit and hurt Dave and Karkat and its why they have so much in common. He IS Daves bro. Dave sort of sticks up for him and Dirk has clueless followers. 

Gamzee was a best friend of mine like Dave and we technically had a kismisitude relationship. Gamzee told me Karkat was his best friend but I didnt know it was mutual. He was very upset that Gamzee and I were kinda together.

One night I was sitting at the end of Vriskas bed, thinking she was asleep, and trying not to wake her up with blowing my nose. She was awake and spooked and said she thought I was cackling like a maniac at the end of the bed like a creep. I thought it was pretty much a good assessment.

Another time she told me that while I was asleep, she saw an *evil* me with a sharp toothed grin and grey skin. It didnt seem improbable to me.

John is my biological brother. Hes a Virgo sun, and hes a nerd. :] Hes the only person beside my dad and aunt I talk to. [lots of friends I have, lol.]

Rose is a c*nt but I was fascinated with her for some reason. Rose hates Homestuck because of the fanbase. [lolll]

Kanaya is her sister, not gf/wife. Shes cool, and a reasonable person and was a friend, but we didnt talk much. I dont know why really.. x.x

Aradia was my best friend before Vriska. She and Sollux are married. I had a crush on her hsband and it was awkward.

Equius is an ex. Longest relationship Ive been in was with him.

Eridan is as much of a insufferable asshat as he is in the series, but not good looking in the slightest. He can be.. surprisingly insightful at times. None of us like him, even us INFPs. [Dave and I.]

I see Aranea as my mother. Talks non-stop, ruins lives.. but I used to look up to her.

Calliope was a fellow dragon lover friend that Dave introduced me to. Her handle was Celestial Serpent and she is even more asexual than I am. :]

My friends saw my and Karkats connection as being more like Karkats and Nepetas. He treated me like I was autistic and mostly ignored me. Probably until I confessed to him, and then after I went crazy because I had lost Vriska, and hoped that I could rely on him to be there for me. but despite all that bravado cockiness of his, hes a total wimp. ._.] Karkat and I had a ridiculously brief unspoken relationship that was only through telepathic communication and I got beyond frustrated and kissed a woman, and it was over like that. No one knows about this but us. Its another thing that I have ruminated on and hated myself for and deeply regretted.

I envy gamer girls who are actually good at games and wish I could be more confident and popular. v.v; [Latula]

I had a character on Gaiaonline with the Chucku Norisu scarf and the winged staff item and people drew freebie art of it for me, and when I looked at my pictures after learning about Homestuck it was pretty crazy.

Vriska [best artist I know] drew a character that looked a lot like Terezi that I had liked a lot.

I was very isolated when I was young. Neglected by my parents for the most part and felt too different from other humans. I always wanted a tree house and bulit my own club house that I hung out in as a kid.

My friends pretty much unfairly looked down on and even despised Vriska except Gamzee.

I love the taste and sight of blood. [Im a sadist.]

Dave made a proposition that he, me and Karkat be in a poly relationship and I turned it down. [I did not want to share Karkles with ANYONE. I know in the comic Dave actually disliked the idea, but the poly thing came up with the three of us. I dont know if Karkat was cool with it or not because he always used Dave as our go-between, but if Dave made the offer it must have been Karkat approved. Asshole. -.-]

Karkat and Dave live together and are more than likely morails. Karkat isnt attracted to Dave, but Dave has said he is attracted to Karkat.

I had a dragon umbrella that looked like a cane that I loved a lot.

Karkat is pretty much the unofficial group leader, or at least he was in my opinion. I could see Sollux saying Id make a better leader, though, because Im more clear-headed and calm about things and people from that group respected me [more than I was aware of].

We are all connected somehow.. but the main group consisted of Dave, Gamzee, Rose, Kanaya, me [Terezi], Karkat, and a few people I didnt see as characters from Homestuck. Vriska was not allowed to hang out with us at first. When she finally got her freedom [with my help] she wouldnt hang with the group, and they saw her as taking me away from them. They thought she treated me poorly, but she really didnt. -.- [Vriska did nothing wrong, theyre all just jerks.]

I dont hang out or talk to any of them anymore except John. Im always finding myself reminiscing and I really just wish I could forget I ever met them so I could start over fresh.

I have a spirit guide that is a DRAGON and teaches me anything Id like to know, especially in esoteric matters. His name is Shadowfall Ryu. Ryu is Japanese for Dragon. [lusus] and I agonize that I dont know him irl. Everyone knows about him. I have drawn so much art of him and talked about him so much. He is my ideal self. [i know the lusus in the comics is female, but whatever. Its still interesting.]

I collect dragon stuff, including plushies. I still play with them and wish others would play with me.

When it comes to your interests he supports you in any way possible.

He sometimes whould be just shocked when he sees you wearing Cosplay. Like you whould always look awesome and he thinks that you looked exactly like the character.

You both often say dumb jokes and he finds yours really funny. Like you could say something that doesn't even have much sense and he'd laugh.

Whenever you watch horrors he isn't actually scared at all and calmly watches it.

Even though you sometimes act cold Gamzee knows how warm is your heart so he never seems to be bothered by it.

He never had problems trusting you and he thought you were the most trustworthy person there is!

Gamzee felt relieved that you understood him so well (or at least tried to).

Session 189 Video Analysis

So before I get into the next session, I have decided to do an extensive look into the last few videos that I saw because OH BOY there was a lot to discuss in there. Hell, I didn’t even now that the video was 14 Minutes Long because I was so absorbed into in.

So after a careful rewatched, here is what I got from last time. (please bear with me, I tried to put my thoughts in the most cohesive was I can but it is long as fuck)

(I also use a lot of pictures to prove my point, so prepare for that too)

First, I never fucking meant for the shaving cream to actually hit. I mean, I hoped and dreamed, but that was to hit Jack not Jade! Y’all are just mean.

[S] Cascade

To point out the title, in programming, to cascade is where you can call multiple methods on the same object at the same time. So, literally all of these events and stories are happening at the same time of one thing – The Scratch.

K so it looked like what Scratch said about of the boys needing a sword is bullshit, because John is doing just fine scratching the disc with the SBURB needle cutter thing, that cut the power cylinders.

John did good. Scratch complete. Just like Dave’s Fucking Shirt!!!

Why the hell is the Shadow Dark God there? It is just…watching. How did you even get down there??

I mean, later on we get to see what the Dark God looks like up close. I too would be like Dave and try to do anything I can to look away. At least they also get nuked.

So that beginning out of the way, let’s get this heavy piece of information out of the way.

The Scratch literally had nothing to do with Jack going into the Troll Verse. It was Jade, all Jade.

Jack hated frogs, and the universe is a Frog, so he wants to kill the universe (multiverse, etc). But he couldn’t, because Jade was alive. As long as she lived, the universe was safe. Because killing the universe would mean that Jack would kill Jade.

But with Jade dead, it was all free game.

Hence the red lines I saw from before just tearing up the place. I thought they would be more…nicer, than what was actually going on.

But before he goes off on his murder spree, it was nice of Jack to place Jade in the god bed before going off to destroy everything.

Does that excuse anything he did? Hell Fucking No. But this is a sign of respect, where Jack spent so much time with Jade that the feelings of Bec really did consume him to caring for her, in whatever way he could. Which was not killing everything until she died.

So here he is, to go into the Frog Shrine (the same one where Bec was created) to lock himself into the flower.

And course the flower that jack was in was old and rotten. He literally is Cancer.

But it was also the same meteor that crashed landed millions of years ago to create Jade’s Island. So Jack still was by Jade while she grew up. I have mixed feelings about that.

Then we zoom to the future where Future Jack launches his attack and Current Jack now awakens.

And Jack murders people. That Guy basically amounted to nothing. Unless that notebook he has was another DNA codebook, and somehow managed to last and survive into the new dimension world, then maybe he had a point. Maybe. 

This part was especially cruel, because Mayor was afraid of Jack, was spared by Jack on a whim.

Only to be killed later on.

Because the Scratch isn’t what caused Jack to go into the Troll-Verse. It was Jack all along. He needed the radioactive power crystal to give him enough energy to break out of the Frog and outside of its universe.

See, this machine would teleport a person either into the frog, into the future universe after the frog, or into the universe before the frog.

And we all know what happened then.

So let’s move on to the bomb, in all of its glory.

And you see the bomb like dripping away to hatch out a chemistry set. It was gross watching it melt away.

And these tubes have to be the universes of the Humans and the Trolls, right? Because 1) When we were zooming in/out before the start of Act 5.2 (you know, when I kept yelling at space) we zoomed out of red and into blue. Matches the two universes that Sollux saw with his eyes, etc etc.

2) We zoom into Red – We see Earth, Zoom into Blue – We see Alternia.

So the bomb is like the ultimate kill switch where it will kill Both universe at once, or activates when both universes die, either way.

How did the Troll’s Universe Die? Well we see Spades shoot Snowman.

Which is badass because Spades knows that killing her kills the universe and he gives no shits here.

Pierces through her heart, the heart of the universe, and there is one universe down. Scratch was fucking right, his shitty gun with one bullet was what was needed to kill everything.

See? Both universe die, so the bomb is going to work.

I have to wonder though, if the Former Black Queen was forced into this life of immortality like how Scratch and English is going to force Ancestor Feferi and Aradia. 

So the beds are slightly confusing to me, because the rules weren’t exactly what we thought it was before. So Original Idea: You die on the bed, get revived in your dream body. That was what happened to John. But Witch Jade, she was already dead

so either as long as you put the physical dead body on the dream bed, then you are still awaken to your Dream Body.

(will talk about you in depth later, but this does explain Hussie Cosplay choice from before)

But then you have Dave and Rose, who were already in their dream bodies. (Jack killing Dave and Rose before)

Here they are floating in Cthulhu space.

And inside their own moons were more beds. Again, they are already in dream bodies when they reach here.

So my ideas is this: because Scratch said that there were two ways to become gods, but both require you to die on a bed.

You either find the bed on the planet in your physical form, “sleep” there by dying and awaken to god powers in ultimate dream body.

Or, you are asleep in Dream Body with no Physical Body. Dream Body is your only body. You find the Dream Beds on your Dream Moon in your Dream Body. And you die “awake” and revive to be gods.

And the reason you need your Dream Body, no matter what oath you take? Because it is everyone’s dream to be a god.

And can I just say how it is cool that the Prospit Kids became gods in the same way, and the Durse Kids because gods in a different way. I just like that.

Now let’s talk about Jade’s path to godhood.

The only reason why her path on the planet bed worked was because of Jadesprite. Her Dream Body was still technically alive, because it got revived. If it didn’t, Jade would have died. So reviving herself was the best choice. 

Which gives me questions. Because now Jade literally has all the knowledge of the game from the sprite, all the powers of space from her dog, and has fused back with her other formerly-dead Dream Self. So, does she still have her Dream-Self memories? Does she remember talking with Davesprite, how she felt/what she saw while dead?

But now, she has the powers of all of fucking space. That is adorably frightening. 

Yeah, I would be shocked too. Also, Jade just sort of left him there.

There she goes on the ship, but Dave is just still there. Not even going to bother to join up I guess. Or Float fast to reach her. And Jade doesn’t even think about, grabbing him as she leaves. Just, thanks for leaving him behind Jade. Not everyone is a super god like you.

Sure she is still saving him by picking up the planet, but shouldn’t he at least be given like crew status on your Space-breaking ship?

See? She teleported John to the ship!!!! Davesprite got screwed.

I love her being able to gather up all the planets by shrinking them, as a Witch of literal Space and have them around her. But more importantly because it just destroys Scratch’s shitty doily and I love that.

I also love how the buildings are still there. Like, making the planets look like giant lollipops.

But Jade creating the 4th wall panel for them to bust through was beautifully done. And so clever, because they are literally jumping together to reach the other side before the reset happens, so they can still keep their memories. Back to before the beginning.

And they bust through in the exact same panel and spot that Ancient Aradia was beating the chair on.

Now For Something Completely Different

ok, I get that Gamzee was important in making nightmares come true

In making Cal. And that the creation of Jade-Sprite did literally change the world with God-Jade. But I don’t think that Gamzee is the most important character, at least not in reference. Like, what he has red and blue antennas in his head for a good signal in the computer? Naw, the “most important character” Hussie is talking about has to be Cal. Or English? Is there really a difference? Because Cal because Scratch and…sort of…Evolved to Lord English.

Because he is talking to Scratch. Last Words are “oh yeah? AND JUST WHAT THE MOTHER FUCKING IS IT that we motherfuckin are?”

Scratch: “S u c k e r s”

So Cal really was the evil villain we made along the way.

With the heat-death of the universe from The Tumor Bomb finally blowing up, English makes his entrance, and Dave & Rose become Gods. But it now looks like the “green sun larger than two universes” was actually the combined destruction of both of their universes merged into one. Who knew.

I mean, that Explains how Rose and Dave reached Aradia at the Green Sun. They were just waiting for the right time.

Gang found the signal (Gamzee was manipulated by the puppet can’t tell me otherwise) time to blast off!

I think that the reason Sollux was able to psychic power his way to the green sun was because of this Sollux

One of Sollux’s dead bodies was already there, and acted like a beacon for the other Sollux to latch himself onto to drag them to the green sun.

Of Course, this means that history I guess repeats itself. Sollux died pushing himself as the helmsman like his ancestor. And when he died, the time bubble shit didn’t work as well for him since they were at The Scratch Event.  So Sollux’s body was thrown back in space by Aradia to help with leading the trolls there. That was why he was binary in black and white, from this moment.

They were both blind so Karkat had to point them in the right direction, that’s funny.

Now let’s move on to PM

Can you imagine being her right now? She was forced to go into this quest by Jack when he was the beady like secretary. She completed her for Jack for the rabbit package at the cost of basically fucking the white kingdom (in her mind). And now she faces him again after years in exile in yet another form.

Watching him kill her friends.

Safety man deserves better.

And she drags Mayor out as Jack destroys yet another world she lives in.

But then she finds the ring, and

Time to Fuck Jack Up!!!

But look at that, she took his body. She took his body with her. The power in that right was so great because of Jade that it automatically teleported her to the place she needed to be. Because I doubt that she would have taking the body back inside the machine after pulling Mayor out.

So that is the end of Cascade, leaving behind basically a burning universe for the hope of another chance.

[S]  Begin Intermission 2

So this was the rise/creation of  Lord English. If you haven’t seen my video, boy do I have thoughts on him.

Scratch was a literal fucking host. God that made me so mad. No wonder you had to die, like some messed up parasite.

I still can’t tell if that is supposed to be a roulette wheel or a pool stick or what, but it gaudy enough to match your trash style.

Because thank god you needed you aesthetics of stealing Hussie’s robe he stole from you. Other wise Team Human might not have busted through. 

But look at this guy? I am supposed to be afraid of him?? He looks like a snapper turtle who got cooked in his shell.

He looks like someone tried to make a shrunken skull of a Namekian while on the Namekian.

He looks like if a human and a spider alien tried to make a relationship work, but then when they saw the child, they just left him in the woods and agree to never call each other again.

I mean, the comic was going on about how terrifying he is. And maybe his power is terrifying…… but his head hatched into that of a puppet head that got a seaweed facial that somehow melded into his skin so he is perma-green.
