It has been awhile!! I’m in the process of moving super far away, so I’m stressed, haha. But mostly I’m keeping it together. You know, with duct tape and therapy (and fic writing, probably mostly the fic writing if I’m honest lol), but also yay? Anyway, how are you doing?? What are you reading these days? I need to start tdt bc October is just around the corner. The downside is the sequel for Boyfriend Material just came out, and I’m desperately waiting for a library copy, hoping I’ll get it before I move 😬 and I’m reading another one of his books now instead. There’s always the problem of too many books…and then you add fics, and I’m doomed (bang fics. Need to read the bang fics gah!!—speaking of, your art was AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL in case you haven’t heard it enough.💖💖 STUNNING!) I hope you’re having a lovely, fun, not ragingly hot summer (but who are we kidding), filled with lots of rain! 🌧☔️ Thank you for brightening my day, hugs!!💕💕

💚 How long have you been crafting and how did you get started?

I’ve always been making things, but up until about 4 years ago my media was mainly visual arts!  I’d done silk screen printing and made earrings before, but I was mostly drawing and painting, doing audio-visual media, photography, comics, graphic design... I think every visual person has to at some point define their relationship with Making Art, which I wasn’t really comfortable calling my work in the first place. I liked the things I was doing but they didn’t really fill me with passion and I kinda moved from technique to technique, always looking for something new.

 It was sort of a light bulb moment for me to get into making physical, functional objects! In my previous school, which was for printing and publishing, I did a side project where I printed curtains with a large format printer (not what the printer was for). My teacher saw the project and suggested I apply to design Uni with a textile design major, which I did. I really fell in love with textile, tangible materials, traditional craft techniques. I feel simultaneously that  I’m a beginner and that I’ve been doing this forever (and I want to keep doing this forever) So yeah, I’ve been lucky to get started with professional teachers and with facilities that already have all the tools that I need. It’s a huge privilege for sure.

❄️  Do you have any crafting (either craft or community related) pet peeves?

Not really? My biggest peeve comes from outside the crafting community, and it’s undervaluation of the crafting skill. (Sometimes this is perpetuated by too modest crafters) It takes serious dedication to learn these skills and they should be valued as such! And most crafters I know are the nicest, most helpful people! I love this community.

💖 Which one of your creations are you the proudest? Show off!

Right now it kinda has to be my sheep ryijy! This bad boy is travelling to be exhibited in Łódź, Poland next October, which is exciting and a bit scary /o

yarn: what are your most enjoyable hobbies?

Ahhh I’ve been neglecting my hobbies lately sadly :( not enough spoons to go around, but the one I can usually manage regardless is bullet journaling :) I’m not very good at freehand drawing or art or anything, but I love sketching out lil geometric patterns in fun colors, or doodling lil plants or whatever in margins. plus I s2g I have no idea how I remembered anything before I started it goddamn

sunflower: what do you love and cherish?

oh man what don’t I fall a little in love with.  I love my friends, and partner, obviously, and I’m terribly fond of all my mutuals, whether we talk or not, I like seeing y’all on my dash, I love watching the squirrels do acrobatics in the trees in my backyard, the two crows that follow me and my partner when we go for walks, the way I can smell the ocean sometimes when the wind is right, the way the smell fills the house when you’re cooking something really tasty, dipping crusty bread into soup, feeling like I can breath clearly after rain settles the pollen, and the world smells like spring, and new growth, all my silly little vibe playlists, forehead kisses, platonic love, romanticizing little things, long walks on the beach and run-on sentences ;)

home: where do you dream of living?

Home has always been more about people than location for me, the longest I’ve ever lived anywhere has actually only been about seven years. That said, I think I’d be very sad if I ever lived somewhere I couldn’t see the sea regularly.
