What's your least favourite canon thing for this character?

I think this is controversial, but I don't especially enjoy the tiny elf thing that D&D has going on, Minthara included. Probably because I loved Spiderwick and LOTR as a kid - and maybe because I'm tall myself - but I always want elves to be TALL.

There's fics and art that have favorably changed my perspective on short Minthara specifically...but in my heart of hearts I want her to be like 5'10

What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?

when fanart bulks her up! give our girl muscles! give her mass!

the modern corporate AUs, I think they're so funny and also I unironically love business wear

probably a biased view because I a) only follow people with great takes and b) block less great takes easily, but I do like that a significant portion of the fandom gives her space to breathe - she's not been too woobified or villified, which is pretty rare for an evil-with-softness character, especially a woman one

What's your favourite thing to do when you’re writing for this character?

Let fear leak through...there's such a deep well of it in Minthara's character, just great to wade into. Honestly cathartic to read and write.

I also really liked writing her and Lakrissa arguing (in the vampire attack chapter of STPF). Minthara's so headstrong and mean, it's fun to write such harsh, no-holds-barred confidence.

She's just such a dichotomy, I love her.

What's something you don’t like?

I have a bad habit of softening her (I'M the one woobifying her!) and so it's not a dislike per se but it's a struggle to find that balance.

I also struggle with adding little descriptors when writing her lmao I feel cheesy saying stuff like lavender skin or ruby eyes but only using grey, purple, red feels flat. It's a toughie.

Sea Meets Earth by Fever Fever - a really joyous one that gives me Alfira vibes + great shipping song in general

Storm Song by Phildel - really lovely and sounds like something Alfira would sing imo

Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn’t matter?

my girl LAKRISSA!!!! I love them as best friends, lovers, girlfriends, etc I think they're so sweet together in pretty much any dynamic

I also think she'd get along well with Wyll, they're both friendly, earnest, sensitive hero-types. I like those lines Wyll has about wishing he could paint the view from the mountain pass -- I don't know if Alfira would be great at painting (maybe?) but I think they WOULD have a great time trying together. And I'll bet Alfira knows how to dance - Alfira/Wyll platonic masquerade ball date???

Bonus Q What made you ship them in the first place?

I was getting really into drow lore, I wanted to write about that and Minthara. I thought Alfira was kissable, and also I wanted her to LIVE. They seemed like interesting narrative foils, and they were.

also, I'm going to be frank. I'm a simple woman. I wanted to write smut 🫡 'Minthara thinks she's a top but she's not' came first and the rest filtered in around that
