Turns out that looking up crime stats in the neighbourhood you just moved to is a surefire way to paranoia
#im in hell! im in hell!#nevermind that i like. live in a very densely populated area#and the actual crime to resident ratio is comparitively low#me looking up the lrt station i have to use to get to and from work every day#and getting scared because there was one (1) crime story from it#from 2 years ago once again in a very densely populated area#turns out anxiety doesnt understand concepts like 'the more people there are the more likely that something will happen at some point'#and 'this actually has a lower crime rate per capita than where you moved from there are just a lot of people here'#and 'the vast majority of violent crime have motives and arent from random strangers'#me: lets google if this neighbourhood is safe#google: this neighbourhood has an excellent safety rating. just be street smart and the odds of you being a victim are very low here#me: hmmm. sus. surely redditors have never been biased or dramatic about anything#shut up dames
