it’s comical how much CC will make the fairies seem like the most vile beings in her series. it’s her series so yeah, I guess she can do what she wants but I can count on my hands more shadowhunters who are evil than fairies. I don’t post much about them but they’re done dirty in the series. the fact that she pulls your Queen is the one who tied herself to an insane, evil, tyrant of a shadowhunter but I’m going to punish you all because isn’t that fair???????

I don’t think I’ve ever really seen any of the shadowhunters (and y’all can correct me if I’m wrong) actually speak negatively of their own families and other shadowhunters. I think some lightwoods have spoken about their own family doing shitty stuff but it’s always put to the side. if there was some mention in TMI, I don’t remember it since I blocked that whole series from my mind 🥲

but it’s always the omg vampires fairies and warlocks are sooooooooo evil!!!!!! Lucie committed necromancy (in a way) and doesn’t really get any punishment but when a warlock does it, fucking hell he’s evil. I don’t agree with the way Malcolm went about things (and I hate Annabel) but I don’t recall Lucie ever getting punished for it. belial dying and Lucie losing her powers can be seen as punishment in a way if you want to call it that

even when Ty did it, I think the whole thing was kept under wraps and he was sent to some school or whatever (I also blocked out that series lmao)

it’s just the fact that the shadowhunters go on and on how they are here to protect the mundanes they don’t seem to even like and the downworlders who they are quick to punish for shit they get away with. and this happens in the show too. the shadowhunters go after the mortal cup and they’re seen as victors but when the wolves and vampires do it, OMG THEYRE AWFUL! (Izzy almost gets deruned for trying to save a fairy in the show and it’s never really mentioned until alec rightfully calls clary out)

I mean they do take Simon hostage which I don’t agree with but it’s more of the fact that they’re all doing the same thing and the only people who get away with it is shadowhunters. and it seems to stem off that shadowhunters are part angel and part human, where warlocks are derived from demons and fairies are half demon and angel, and vampires have “demon diseases” or whatever

does anyone feel this way? like none of the downworlders are really allowed to stand up for themselves and the fact they’ve been hunted for centuries never seems to come up often. the fact that shadowhunters are equally as evil isn’t ever mentioned. because devil forbid, shadowhunters are bad!!!!!!!! it’s mainly the writing in the books that this irritates me because CC has been writing for decades. she’s had time to adapt and change but she’s never going to. I do like some of the shadowhunters but I wish they’d call each other out more often lmao

Because I like to laugh I would probably recommend once a princess by Johanna Lindsey, it kinda follows the Anastasia lost princess that grew up in the gutter premise, but I found the heroine hilarious thinking there was no such thing as a lost princess and they were clever kidnappers selling her a ruse, all the escape attempts + dialogue was funny. The follow up book is also good with another strong female character, not as off putting as some romance books get, I promise you'll like them.

Another writer would probably be Judith mcnaught, read once and always I swear you won't regret the time you've put in.

i’m always like “i love pat conroy/sylvia plath/grrm” and will spend months waiting for a preloved copy of a murakami book with a rare cover BUT the truth is i find HRs and fanfics easier and more enjoyable to read these days 🥲 (i have all these austen and gaiman and king that remain unread because i’m just so mentally exhausted most of the time) so thank you! ☺️

since you mentioned judith mcnaught…i LOVE almost heaven. i like the bridgerton books too but my favorite is when he was wicked (maybe because i find it more ~mature~). not sure what i feel about tessa dare (her choice of words doesn’t feel right) but i find her funny and i really liked goddess of the hunt. my two fav lisa kleypas books are it happened one autumn and devil in winter (there’s just something about that winter wedding). also read outlander if you can 🫶🏼

i spent may-june reading western HRs by ellen o’connell. eyes of silver, eyes of gold has a special place in my heart. 🥹 her without words and dancing on coals are great too

Trigger warning for the message below as it deals with body image struggles and eating disorders, please only read if in the right mindset and situation for it. 💓

Over 10 years ago I decided I wanted to recover from my body dysmorphia and address my eating disorder. It wasn’t an easy task and I fell often but on this day 10 years ago was the last true slip up. 10 years ago today I stopped actively participating in trying to meet what I felt were society’s expectations of me. Healing isn’t linear and there are still times I struggle with a healthy self image but over the last 10 years I have been able to correct myself each time and address the negative thoughts in a positive and healthy manner and form positive ones about myself. I didn’t think that would be possible 10 year ago.

To those who’ve been there or still are, please know it doesn’t what you look like, what you think you look like, what size you are, what size you want to/“should” be, or any other expectations; you are BEAUTIFUL and worthy of love. It took me a long time to realize that and that might be the same for you, but I promise you’ll get there. If you slip, don’t get angry at yourself please. Just dust yourself off and go again, it’ll get easier. ❤️‍🩹

These photographs are by none other than @/harryholland64 aka the most considerate & supportive boyfriend. I am in love with them not just because they’re so good, because it’s from him, nor because he’s so sweet. Those are all true, but I love them because I can see how much happier and more confident I am in myself and I never knew that would be possible. It also proves that how you perceive yourself on your bad days aren’t accurate. Some of these were taken on days where I was struggling a bit and I didn’t know they were being taken. Had I known in the moment when some were being taken, I probably would’ve been mortified at the time because of how I felt about myself. However, once I’m able to address the thoughts I’m struggling with and pull myself back up, I feel better about myself and when I do I can truly appreciate seeing them.

These are only a handful of them but he framed all of them and put them up on my walls in my closet by my mirror for my bad days to remind me how he sees me and the thoughtfulness and support from him is immeasurably heartwarming. Baz, my precious baby boy, I love you more than anything in this world and I’m so blessed to be able to have the co-leading role in #TheAdventuresofDatingHarry 💘

I love your analysis of their technique - i was obsessed with a post you did a while back on their 2018 Olympic SD, the way Scott holds Tessa and his all round excellence as a dancing partner - there were so many things to get into, it opened my eyes in a whole new way to their brilliance. Also your breakdown of their choreography, why it works, what’s amazing about it (for non dancers, it can be a revelation!) so anything along those lines I would soak up.

Yeh like I say a lot I’m not a skater at all so I don’t want to seem like I know what I don’t know so I do try to speak about stuff from my pov and what I’ve learned about skating recently. So I’ll fully admit my analysis(s) are certainly not all encompassing…

I do 100% consider them to be dancers so it’s why I feel l/we can talk about them from in respect. I’ve watched a tonne of ID in the last year and things like choreography, musicality, upper body carriage, lines, emotional expression, ease of movement, partnering, physical harmony and communication with each other are all things from a dancers POV are what make TS true dancers removed from all others in their sport who I view more as skaters who don’t jump as all or some of the things I mentioned above I don’t feel that they dance in the way TS do- they (at least I can tell) they have a deeper understanding of the language of dance and they just happen to be doing it on ice. This isn’t against other teams but the sport is called ‘Ice Dance’ and from the little of the sport that I still follow these days it is moving further and further away from that with the removal of compulsory foundations and now even patters.

So yeh I love to talk about chore and lifts and overall dancing even though my skating knowledge is weak but because they are dancing that part of it is so important and idk maybe a topic that hasn’t been discussed before coz like I ‘be said before dancers are pretty critical of skaters (I use to be one of them) and still am but not with VM because they are just so good. (and I just freaking wish I could give the ISU a lecture on it so they would actually start judging properly 😅🥲🤬)
