Summary: chris was about to leave for the Versus tour but wanted to do something dramatic for his fans for the tour! you dye his hair and he dyes yours!

A/n: i was watching the video where chris dyed nicks hair and i thought it would be cute if i wrote a lil sumth based of this!

Chris and I have been dating for roughly about 3 years. We had met not long after their YouTube became popular and quickly we both had made it official. Considering I was Chris’ first ‘real relationship’ because he had commitment issues and I swore off dating till college, we both moved to LA because we couldn't do long-distance.

“I can't believe we're going on fucking tour” Chris’ excitement squealed out of him as he's getting his bags ready for the Triplets ‘Verus Tour’

“What am I gonna do without you, I got this big ass house and big ass bed with no Chris to share it with,” I say sprawling in a starfish position.

“You could always invite Tara over, you two can do whatever you two do best together” he chuckles shoving some socks into a deep pocket of his suitcase.

“So drinking and partying?” I laugh out sitting up and resting my weight on my elbows.

“Please do not get drunk for over a month straight i would genuinely check you into a Rehabilitation center” Chris chuckled throwing his arms up.

“Don't worry I'll probably just chill here most of the time and eat, sleep, watch Gossip Girl for the 30th time, and occasionally go out with Tara,” I reassure him flicking my hand up and down brushing his comment off.

“I wanna do something crazy before tour,” he says as his lips curl up into a smirk.

“Like what? You guys leave in like 3 days” I adjust my body sitting up crisscross.

“I wanna dye my hair orange, 'cause you know each of us has a color for our team so like half of my outfits for tour consists of orange,” he says walking towards the bed sitting next to me.

“Chris normally I would be supportive of your impulsivity but dying your entire beautiful virgin brown hair orange? I won't support that one” i laugh running my nails through his long wavy brown locs of hair.

“Okay, maybe not my whole hair but maybe like the tips of my hair?” he says grabbing a small piece of hair and pointing at the tip of it.

“Chris it's 8 pm and no hair salon takes last-minute hair appointments and I only trust my hair stylist Hazel” I laugh sitting back and leaning my head against the headboard of the bed.

“Then why don't we do it? Walmart is still open and they have hair dye, right? I mean I've dyed Nick's hair before with the help of Maddie but how hard can it be?” he moves closer to me shooting me a smirk.

“I have dyed my hair before. Fuck it let's do it” I stand up off the bed smiling at Chris whose smirk turned into the happiest smile on his face.

We both chuckled and made our way downstairs to discover Matt and Nick giggling while looking at their phones.

“Where are you guys going?” Matt's head peaked up looking towards us.

“To get hair dye” Chris laughs and spoke before I could

“Oo Y/N what color are you dying your hair this time?” Nick shimmies his shoulders smirking.

“Well Chris wanted to do something crazy before the tour so he wanted me to dye the tips of his hair orange and I'm dying the underneath of my hair orange as well” I nervously spit out gripping Chris’ hands.

“Okay that's actually disgustingly adorable” Nick laughs out

“Well be back in like an hour” Chris and I walked out together, hand in hand, and made our way to my car.

We're currently sitting in the car, cruising down the road on our way to the nearby Walmart laughing at the possible situations that could happen.

“Are you sure you know what you're doing” Chris asks propping his feet up on the dashboard of the car.

“Chris it's gonna be fine” I reassure tapping his thigh laughing softly.

As we arrive at the Walmart parking lot, Chris steps out and stands in front of my car, his hand outstretched, waiting for me to take it as I step out of the car as we enter the store.

“What about this one?” he says “Splat is a cool name” he chuckles

“NO” I exclaim “That is one ingredient away from being fabric dye”

“Oh my god why would they make this stuff” his eyes go wide as he laughs and throws the box back on the shelf.

“Okay here, this is Manic Panic, Nick used it when he dyed his hair, it's pretty good” I say holding two jars of the dye.

“Okay, so how much do we need?” Chris gives his little sassy side eye when he's confused which happens to be a lot of times when I have to over-explain myself.

“Well you don't have a lot of hair to cover and since I'm only dying the back of my hair and maybe my money pieces then maybe two” my voice raises with question.

“Two it is” He nodded and smiled, his eyes sparkling with excitement as he reached for the hair dye. As he took my hand, a rush of warmth spread through me, and we made our way to the register together to check out.

The car ride home was filled with laughter and comfortability within each other. In the 3 years, we've been together, I can't remember a single time where we had ‘small talk’ or ‘chit chat’ we could always talk about something big or small for hours. It was always one of the things I loved about Chris, he was a yapper but we could always bounce back and forth with nonsense.

As we entered the house, we couldn't contain our laughter and giggles, our voices echoing through the halls as we made our way inside.

“Why are you two so disgustingly cute” Nick spits smiling at both of us.

“You acting like we're a new couple” Chris chuckled.

“No, but still so sickening how cute you guys are together even after 3 years of watching you two be together” Nick shrugs popping a piece of popcorn in his mouth.

With a chuckle, Chris leads me into the bathroom we both share. “Do you want me to use one of my old shirts to cover up with?” he asks leaning against the counter “We can just share the shirt too”

“Do you even own a shirt you don't care about?” I softly laughed.

“You know how many wife beaters I own, why question anything” he throws his hands up in defense laughing as he grabs a black tank top from his room and quickly swaps his shirt out.

“Okay sit between my legs” I smile up at him as he nods and sits Indian style between my legs.

“So how does hair dye work? Like what makes the color stay? Who invented it?” he questions as I start to apply the dye on the tips of his hair blending it out to create an ombre effect.

“Chris I'm not sure about any of those questions i just know that I use it, and I hope this will come out, or else Hazel is gonna be really mad at me” I chuckle out.

“So you don't know how it works? Or who invited it?” he leans his head back facing me as his big blue doe eyes stare at me.

I smile but lightly push his head back down to dye the back and the bottom of his hair. “You know I don't always know the answer to everything, I may always be right about most things but it ain't nothing to just go on Google and type it in,” I say softly laughing

“I know but why use Google when I have a super-smart girlfriend” he shrugs his shoulders smiling.

I carefully completed the styling of his hair, ensuring that I covered all the sections he wanted dyed and coated them with a vibrant orange color.

“Now we wait 45 minutes” I smile helping him up off the floor.

“YOUR TURN” he squeals holding his hands out for me. “Now you can sit between my legs” he smirks moving his shoulders.

“WAIT, let me section my hair because I don't want my whole hair orange,” I stand up go to the mirror and section my hair in a ‘Halo’ hairstyle. “okay here you go just dye the parts that aren’t in the bun up here” I smile sitting back between his legs.

“got it” he smiles back at me beginning to rub his fingers that are coated with orange color through my hair “If I pull your hair too hard let me know” he lightly pulls my head back to look at him before giving me a little peck on my lips.

He made sure his hands were gentle through my hair and made sure it was coated on every strand and maybe even overly coated. “I'm putting a lot of dye on your hair but only to make sure it is coated properly” he smiles moving my head to the side to get the side of my hair.

“This is nice” My lips curl upwards in a smile as my body becomes relaxed. “I enjoy these little bonding moments with you”

“Oh believe me I enjoy this more” he smiles “okay turn around so I can get your shorter pieces of hair”

As I turned around to face him, I noticed his eyes brightening with excitement as he carefully applied the dye to the shorter pieces of my hair.

“Okay now we wait” he smiles sitting next to me.

I pull out my phone and get a picture of Chris and me with the wet dye in our hair so we can remember this moment. “You're so beautiful ma” he smiles at our picture. “God I'm gonna marry that woman one day,” he says pointing at the picture on my phone.

“Chris you're so corny” I softly laugh out softly pushing his shoulder.

“You're gonna miss my corny jokes when I'm gone” he raises his eyebrows smirking.

“Chris you sound like you're dying, you're just going on tour, and we're gonna face time like every night, and I'm gonna come visit you obviously” I playfully roll my eyes.

“I won't let you not visit, you're gonna visit” he softly says placing a kiss on my cheek.

After 45 minutes had passed, Chris and I carefully rinsed out the dye from our hair and then proceeded to blow dry it. Chris wouldn't stop staring at himself in the mirror touching his hair and making goofy faces at himself.

“God we look fuckable” he smirks at me in the mirror.

“Christopher Owen” my jaw goes slack as the words come out of his mouth.

“I'm being honest we look hella good right now” he smiles “WE NEED TO POST THIS ON INSTA” he pulls out his phone taking a couple of pictures of us with our hair.

This got very long, welcome to the morning fluff train.

Sully, for the most part, is not good with surprises. They make him anxious and worried, even if he has a hard time admitting to that, so when you texted him earlier that day, saying you'd be bringing home a surprise for him, he'd spent a majority of the day incredibly anxious and worried about whatever it might be. When you get back to the mansion and you call him outside, he feels the anxiety clawing at him, but when he sees you clutching a wrapped up blanket he's instead replaced with confusion. When you look up at him and smile, tilting the blanket towards him, the last thing he expected was a two-headed hellhound to be nuzzled up in your arms, fast asleep.

You explain that knowing him and his love for baby animals, you'd been planning for a while to get a pet for the two of you, and you'd found this little guy lost and alone in the woods that morning. You'd taken it to the vet, and since it was a wild hellhound, they'd informed you that it was yours to take if you wanted, and you'd quickly gotten it registered. Sully is barely processing most of what you're saying as he's completely enraptured by the cute little pup in your arms, one of the heads sleeping and the other one tiredly yawning, its little eyes looking dreamily at Sully. He didn't know it was possible to feel this happy and excited with anything other than you. You ask him if he'd like to name him, and he feels as though he might cry, realizing that you're actually serious about caring for it with him, and he nods eagerly. He decides to name the little guy Hades.

As the two of you go on to care for and raise Hades, Sully becomes extremely attached to this little guy, and everyone is aware of it. Hellhounds are known for growing quite big very fast, and as a wild hellhound that turns out NOT to be the runt of his litter (for reference, my Smile is the runt of his litter, and stands at five feet tall at his shoulders fully grown, which is actually considered small), Hades is starting to become a very big boy. Of course, despite any bad feelings Sully might have towards Jeff, he made sure both Smile and Hades could be good friends, and they turned out to be very good playmates. Smile teaches Hades how to play without getting too rough, and he turns out to be a wonderful babysitter whenever you and Sully are busy with something, keeping the fellow pooch entertained. Sully does the best that he can for your dog, making sure he's eating the best food and getting the right amount of space and exercise, and he also makes sure to drill it into every other resident's head what they should and should not do with Hades. 

Everyone thinks it's cute how protective and caring over Hades that Sully has gotten, even if you're the only one brave enough to say it to his face. By the time Hades is a year old, he's already almost close to Sully's height (who stands at 6'3"), but he's very calm and well-trained, and he knows not to cause issues or be too rough on anything or anyone smaller than him. Usually, the only people Sully fully trusts with Hades are you and Liu, but it makes him happy to see the rest of the mansion caring for the big dog and willing to take care of him, some of the other creeps even offer to take Hades out on walks during the day when both of you are too busy to do so. Sully has always thanked you for bringing Hades into his life and will continue to do so. He thinks back so fondly on his puppy stage, the two of you giving him baths and so many snuggles and treats, having fun training him and play wrestling with him when he was still small enough. He's always thought baby animals are the cutest, but even as Hades continues to grow, he's still the cutest animal in the whole world to Sully. It melts his heart to have a pet to care for with you, and it makes him unexplainably happy that you're the one he gets to care for said pet with. He loves you more than anything in the world, although he always says that Hades is a close second.

don’t worry about ur manual transmission description. i’ve changed three instructors in the span of year and a half and all three of them told me different things. i didn’t notice any Big Serious issues that would be at odds with driving mechanic.

to the other news. will sucks 😭😭 not his fault Obviously. he’s naturally anxious and tbh mike didn’t give him any hints about how to feel when the car is ready to go. not mikes fault too. i bet he doesn’t even think about this little thing anymore (and cause u don’t know about them either. which is ok don’t worry about it. u probably just need to experience it ti fully understand). i was so happy when will finally manage to get the car going 😭😭 i probably called him baby too.

malls here are super dying!! i think the only ones that aren't are ones in Major Cities (there's two nearby me that are pretty popular, but the other ones are mostly closed, and it's definitely been a phenomenon in the us over the last few years thanks to online shopping)!! the deleted scene is actually from the driving scene, but the bookstore scene Feels shorter bc i was truly at the point where i had nothing left to give when writing it (it was the last part of ch09 to be written), so it definitely suffered from that. if we ever do Huge post-mortem edits once acswy is over, i might go back and add to it, or write a deleted-scene-type companion, but tht's the tea w the bookstore scene <3

the diner scene was SOOOO fun to write and it had me blushing frfr. i answered this in another ask but the middle school sweethearts comment was Definitely the most insane thing that i thought of for this chapter and to me it was for sure the nail in the coffin for will of like damn. ok. he's Serious abt this. bc i think with their #history that will has trouble admitting even to himself that he likes mike, and so he'd need to feel pretty certain of how mike feels first, and after processing the middle school sweethearts comment later in the car that's what made him realize like oh damn. i Do like him. SO MUCH. and we all nodded and patted his back and said yeah baby we know. but what you described mike thinking is absolutely exactly how he feels 💗 very reminiscent and wistful, even.

LOL LITERALLY THIS HAS BEEN A UNANIMOUS COMMENT ACROSS THE BOARD OF "THANK GOD FOR SUNI" (INCLUDING MYSELF). to Explain the way i was feeling about it -- i did not initially mean to have that be a Spicy make out moment! it was supposed to read more along the lines of the thrift store scene, or even the kiss after will finished driving the mustang, so very sweet and soft and Romantic. it just didn't come out that way once i was actually writing it, and so i was nervous that i was toeing the line too heavily, or tht it was out of place with the rest of the vibe i had constructed for the chapter. a combination of suni (and abby, who got early access and acted as our second beta) being adamant that it Did fit and worked well, and me being too pressed for time/not having enough energy to rewrite that saved it from the deleted scene graveyard <3 thank god fr. they are both so fucking stupid.

the entiiiiire realization scene up from will realizing he likes mike to the very end of the chapter is my favorite thing that i have ever written i think 💗 i am just so happy with the way it turned out, especially with it being at the point in the fic that it's at!! it felt rly right for will :') also mike calling him baby!!! that was such a last minute decision but i'm so glad i went for it!! the original line was "i've got you, yeah?" but baby hit So much harder so shout out to editing thea for making that change 🤸 will wants to add a heart next to mike's name in his phone SOOOO BAD!!! WHEN WILL HE GET TO!!!!!!!!!!!

The Pause

I am going to introduce you to this dynamic, that I would very much like you to consider: The Pause.

Karen taught Nancy about The Pause when she was ten because she suspected Nancy was going through a hard time at school. The Pause was half a little game, half a trust promise. The rules were simple: The Pause would start when they lifted both feet from the ground. When they did that, Karen explained, time stopped for them to take out of their chests whatever was bugging them, and as long as the game was going on, they could say anything (even swearing!) to feel better, and after The Pause finished (when their feet were on the ground again), whatever they said during that time will not ever be approached again. No judgment, no hard felings. Just release.

Nancy had The Pause present during all her life, because speaking her mind wasn't always easy. She would learn soon enough that speaking up wasn't the hard part; getting heard was.

Anyway, she found herself spreading The Pause. She used it with Mike once or twice. During those moments, Nancy recalled, it was when they got along better. Sad thing they never talked about it later.

Mike had taught The Pause to Lucas, who eventually, taught it to Max in an attempt to talk to her when she was at her worst.

Nancy used it with Steve after their first encounter with the demogorgon, and it was, by far, the one who was most affected by The Pause. She had been at Steve's a few times by then. She knew he didn't have anyone to talk to about his feelings, or what he had gone through, so she taught him The Pause.

That was when Steve fell in love with her.

Then she taught The Pause to Jonathan in Murray's place, and that's when they both learned about their true feelings.

Later on, he would use The Pause with Will, who, a few years later, taught it to El.

Steve taught The Pause to several people, though. The first time he used it, it was before the Snow Ball. He wasn't expecting Claudia mentioning his dad, and everything went downhill from that. They sat in the bed before doing his hair, and they talked about shitty dads, and unrequited crushes with the same girl.

That was the second time Steve fell in love using The Pause.

The next summer, in camp, right before confessing to Suzie, Dustin used The Pause, which gave him strength to do so. Suzie found it cute enough to actually give him his first kiss.

When they first started working in Family Video, Steve learned that maybe Nancy's legacy was the best thing he got from her. He sat on the counter a lazy day and told Robin about The Pause when he saw her weirded than normal, and she obliged and told about her identity issues. She also mentioned that the weirdest thing about that is the fact that she was starting to believe that Steve Harrington was his platonic soulmate, and she was afraid to tell him because he might break her heart if he didn't feel the same.

That was the third time.

Steve taught The Pause once more, to Eddie. They sat on his kitchen countertop, and there was a whole space between them, when Eddie told that he couldn't believe that he actually was ready to die, and he didn't know what to do with that now that he didn't. Eddie told him that he was scared that he'd gave up his place in the world, and now the world wouldn't give his spot back. Eddie told him that he was as afraid to leave as he was to stay in Hawkins, because he was starting to believe that he was falling in love with this hot jackass that was making him using a communication system that implied that they were not going to talk about it anymore in the future.

Steve broke The Pause to walk the space between them and kiss him, because those feelings were not meant to be approached just once in theit life. He needed them to be real, so he could say Steve that he loved him for the rest of his life.

That was the fourth, and the last time he fell in love using The Pause.

Funny thing is, The Pause was now a secret dynamic that everyone in the group knew, but Nancy wasn't aware by that, until The Pause came back to her.

And it came from Robin.

Robin taught Nancy The Pause when they run accidentally into each other a random night in a park, in late 1986. Robin knew something was wrong with her, so she took her to the swings and asked her to lift her feet from the ground. Then, Robin explained Nancy The Pause rules, who listened attentively, not fully believing what was happening. She considered to come clean and tell Robin that she knew about The Pause, that her mom taught her when she was a kid, but she left that unsaid. Instead, Nancy talked about how she felt that her relationship with Jonathan was going nowhere, and she was afraid that they were making each other miserable. She also told Robin about that she might have developed feelings towards another person. Towards a girl. Robin told her that she liked girls, too. Nancy told Robin that she was scared about that part of herself. Robin said that she got it, but it wasn't that scary once you surrounded yourself with the right people.

They held hands there.

That was the first time Nancy fell in love using The Pause.

Foaming at the mouth over the recent DTTW update. Snail. Hon. Bestie. Sebastian and Irie getting locked in the closet and almost being found out was SO good (Sam definitely suspects them there's no way he doesn't), and I love how transparent Sam and Abby are even though they think they're being so sneaky lmfao

And Sebastian being kind of civil with Alex had me fucking shouting!!!! I love it!! Never mind his very awkward attempts at aftercare, he's trying so hard n I love it!! His growth is awesome to read through, him and Irie are taking up all of my brain space right now bro.

ALSO using the abandoned community center as the haunted house was fucking brilliant, I've never considered that but it's so good!

I am so ready. I love this fic so much. I love these characters.

Also while I'm on the topic, I have to commend you for how you write all of these relationships. I know I told you forever ago that your work with Aspen and Sebastian was what got me into writing for this fandom in the first place, but I have to point out how cool it is that you've explored so many different character aspects for Sebastian simply by switching his relationship dynamic with both of your OCs.

Where he was nervous and cute and so pathetically head over heels and SWEET with Aspen, his relationship with Irie and the way they butt heads is just as interesting to read. How are you so good at writing four-dimensional characters that actually feel like people, it's genuinely so impressive.

I feel like it reflects real relationships so well, because depending on where or under what circumstances you meet a person, your entire perspective and opinion of them is liable to change, you know? If Sebastian hadn't known Aspen and already been so attached to her, it could've changed their whole relationship, right? AND THE SAME CAN BE SAID FOR IRIE.

Ugh. It's so good. I love your fics, I love your characters, your brain is beautiful. Much love, moot, I can't wait to see where you take all of this. <3333

One of the most interesting things for me is to ask myself how a person might deal with an issue and why. Just putting guys in situations. Nothing gives me a better case of the teehee’s than writing a character making a bad decision on purpose.

YHMR chapter 20 finally up!!

Thank you all for being so patient with the updates lately, I've been impatient to get this one finished, but here it is at last! More commentary under the cut

-So, I guess everyone has their own unique approach to consent when it comes to Jamil. Azul, who's both horrified at the idea of unintentionally forcing Jamil into something and so over being the one begging for scraps of attention from people who find him repulsive, has decided to wait stubbornly for Jamil to prove what he wants by coming to him. Floyd, being Floyd, figured "why is everyone playing chess with this when I can just make him tell me what he wants straight up?". And Jade… having taken notes from both of their stories and observations, decided that Jamil couldn't be trusted to give an honest answer and therefore the most efficient and surefire way around it was to push him past his comfort level and see what he acts like when he's lying.

-Joke's on Jade, Jamil is also Very Aware of microexpressions, and can catch his subtle changes in demeanor just as well.

-I know I've mentioned the idea of Jade having sensory issues before, but now I'm adding touch repulsion because I just can't get enough drama (or representation tbh. I've seen like three touch repulsed characters in my entire life).

-believe it or not, I actually try hard to make sure not every character is perfectly capable of raising a single eyebrow. Jamil kinda does it in canon, and also just seems like the type who'd master the art of annihilating people with a single judgy expression since he can't talk back. There's no way Floyd wouldn't figure out how, and no way Jade would let him be the only one capable. So really that just left Azul as the only one in the relationship who can't, and that feels like it'd be exactly his luck.

-Was the oral agreement kiss a happy coincidence, or did Jade introduce the term in the hopes of getting Jamil to say "oral"? That's for him to know

-Jamil at it again with the modified curses for basic household tasks. Maybe I'm reaching but I feel like it makes a decent metaphor for everything he could so easily be, vs everything he's had to put effort into contorting himself to become.

-Alsoooo I know the fish are all good cooks, but considering how different food prep must be on the surface, and the way Jade is shown to be very formulaic with new projects and how Azul just, IS, I imagine they started out approaching surface cuisine through research and carefully following recipes, and there's bound to be a lot of practical tricks that they aren't experienced with yet. Which is to say, watching human cooks break rules and wing it with recipes must be new and interesting for them, because while they probably have some theories on how things could work if they tweaked it (like in Floyd's chef vignette), they probably haven't had much time to experiment as much yet

-I'm picturing Jade making the aprons for everyone, half as a joke. Azul's is designed to be cute enough to be embarrassing, but still fitting his tastes enough that he can tell Jade put real thought into it, and Azul loves it for the gesture despite the teasing. He would never let another soul know it exists, and will die when he finds out Jamil's seen it. Floyd's was something Jade knew he would love the second he saw the fabric (it's inspired by this tourist shirt I found)

So Fake Rayla

Otherwise known as “Stella is cute and I don’t trust her within an inch of my life” + other various thoughts about whether or not the initial Rayla reuniting with Callum scene features a real Rayla or a very convincing Rayla illusion. 

First up: evidence that the Rayla we see in the first clip is real. 

The first is that her updated look is consistent with a clip later in the trailer (both blades, braid and bun, general personality) and that we know Rayla has a tendency towards both 1) adopting strays and 2) having a soft spot for animals. It’s small, but we see her at the funeral they hold for Ibis at the Storm Spire with Stella still on her shoulder

Another point in Rayla being real is that, if she isn’t, they’ll have to very careful as to how they handle the reunion (and I think perhaps by the reunion itself we’ll know the truth or not). They won’t want to waste emotional reactions, particularly if Callum airs a lot of his hurt, as it can feel cheapened (for ex: illusion Viren worked in 3x09 because Soren being willing to kill him permanently changed his and Claudia’s relationship, so it didn’t feel like a cop out. Here, there wouldn’t be something ‘real’ to ground it except Callum processing his anger etc. in ways Rayla herself would never get to see). So again, we’ll have to see how it plays out.

Rayla has also always wanted to come back to Katolis, she just felt she was unable to. I don’t find it hard to believe that upon keeping her word and feeling like she’d completed her mission, she would high tail it back to Katolis and be pretty thrilled to get to come back and hopefully reunite with the boys. The look of love on her face certainly fits, even if both their reactions have clearly been trimmed down and edited, and the first look itself will be much longer (TDP loves its micro-expressions after all). Twitter gave us a glimpse at another one of Rayla’s expressions from this scene, as we know it’ll be emotional no matter what

We also know that the Cube only ever glows for one primal at a time. It doesn’t always glow when Callum picks it up (hence his escapades in early 3x02 seeing all the things that do glow) and it glows brightly when it’s around Rayla’s moon opal in 3x08, or with the fish in 1x05 even though Bait, a Sun prima creature, is also in the boat. So the Star primal glowing rather than the Moon primal doesn’t mean she’s an illusion, the Cube only ever glows for one source at a time, so it’s nothing out of the ordinary. 

So there’s really only two issues in terms of characterization and narrative to consider that makes her returning seemingly so soon in the season (before the mid-way point and of her own accord) feel decidedly off

1) Rayla set out determined to personally kill Viren once and for all. We know that she was adamant that she’d find him alive and have to take him out. Post-TTM, Rayla wasn’t even looking for a body anymore. She thought she’d have to make one. But we know there’s no way that happened, as Claudia has revived Viren and been safe guarding the body all this time. At first I thought perhaps Rayla had found the empty cocoon perhaps once Claudia and co. had exited the cave and that had been enough to convince her, but I realized it probably wouldn’t be. After all, seeing the cocoon being empty would probably horrify her, as she would just assume that whatever Viren was had gotten out and was walking around. And Rayla never gives up on anything, unless she finds a new mission, but considering she thought the world and Callum’s life was at stake, what would make her divert course without trying to handle the problem on her own (like always) to continue protecting the boys?

2) If they do reunite with Rayla coming back of her won accord, then what was the Narrative Point of her leaving? It means she’s learned a thing or two about self worth and has back home, but again: only under the condition of completing her mission, even though she needs to learn it would be 100% okay to come home ‘a failure,’ to come home ‘empty handed.’ The later scene of Callum cradling her sword offers a path forward, as it would mean Rayla being self-sacrificial one last time or being forcefully torn away from her swords. This means her absence would be justified narratively by Callum perhaps reaching an epiphany, or justification, of doing anything to get her back. This would provide the self worth lesson Rayla needs to have (why is her life worth less than Callum’s to her, after all, who’s always wanted to be together or not at all?) and the background for Callum along the lines of “I’ve lost her / lived without her once. I can’t - I won’t go through that again.” We reach the same end point, but with a less isolated middle. 

Because narratively with her absence, something has gotta give, and it can’t be wholly positive, and this is still a hurdle their relationship needs to jump. Rayla needs to realize she was horribly wrong to leave, but she can’t do it that by 1) returning on her own and 2) likely only returning because she thinks she successfully completed her mission, which would only reaffirm her unhealthy beliefs more.

Maybe she hasn’t succeeded at her mission, but I think that may require seeing more of her early on and too big a character arc to be crammed into a small episode space to watch Rayla “I failed and am therefore awful” of the Silvergrove realize that failing doesn’t mean she deserves to be rejected or shunned or believe terrible things about herself.

Perhaps Rayla with her small Star primal creature helps Callum learn about the Cube and Mirror. Maybe he still uses it as a distraction to not have to deal with all the big feelings between them. Maybe she only comes back to Katolis later on in the season then we think (say around end of 4x05 rather than end of 4x03). 

As long as 1) Rayla can offer a reasonable explanation for why she’s come back and 2) her absence has a strong emotional narrative tie, then her coming back so early makes sense, because it’s providing context for later decisions rather than driving the narrative directly now perhaps the way we thought. 

But now onto the more interesting side of things in way (that will also be hysterical in retrospect to look back on if we’re way off base) ... 

Evidence that Rayla Isn’t Real

And why I’ll extend that one step further, because remember how I said there’s a shot of Rayla with Stella on her shoulder, and Rayla travelling with the boys into the dark caverns as well? If Rayla isn’t real in the reunion clip, then she’s not real in those shots, either. Which means the boys are travelling with a fake illusion of their friend for the bulk of the season, not realizing that something is undeniably wrong (or at least, not fully), and isn’t that a way to build narrative dread and tension. 

This plays into a few things symbolically and counter-actively addresses the prior issues. If Rayla isn’t real, then why she came back doesn’t have to be convincing. If Rayla isn’t real, then her absence is ongoing and therefore has narrative weight and consequences to be attached to it, as well as for her doppelgänger. 

Symbolic evidence for his theory is the light and dark symbolism they’re explicitly playing with this season and that have been tied to Callum and Rayla specifically, both in Rayla’s letter to him and even further in the trailer. This is something I’ve commented on before in s1-s3 pre-letter, so if you are interested in reading more check out this meta here. 

In Rayla’s letter, she states: 

Taking on hard choices and going to dark places is an act of love. It’s a gift. So, please let me give you this gift, Callum. Stay safe, and stay in the light. Don’t follow me, and don’t look for me. I don’t think you’ll find me, anyway.

Then in this season, we know Aaravos will ultimately be the main villain. He’s fraught with this dark and light motif already in his character design, as he is missing a piece of his literal chest star, is a fallen star, and whose name means “between light and dark.”

Then we have Callum, who states: “In Darkness, gaze upon a fallen star,” which is likely the transcription around the mirror he’s translating, as total darkness is necessary to see into Viren’s prison. This could explain why Callum has the black dark magic-y eyes of pouring the serum into his eyes (similar to what Viren did to see the mirror back in early s2) rather than a more grandiose dark magic spell (although that could come later). 

So this means that Light is a good thing, right, and Darkness is a bad thing? Well... not quite. We know that Rayla’s absence has affected Callum negatively and left him more likely to pursue Aaravos’ dangers and more susceptible to his manipulations (even just by not having a counter balance and impulse control that Rayla and Callum each provided to each other). We know that Rayla left because she felt like she had no choice but to walk a dark path on her own and if she hasn’t learned that lesson that she was wrong, she’ll simply try it again every time, and that’s 1) something the narrative won’t do and 2) something Callum won’t put up with. And furthermore...

In the cave when Callum wraps his scarf around his staff to douse the light, it seems that it’s because light is dangerous. Large, terrifying creatures in the trailer that use lights to falsely lure prey right into their trap like a real life angler fish. Aaravos’ form looks like butterfly, moth mixture... bugs that die when guided to a flame. 

Rayla chose to hide herself away, to Ghost herself even further. To erase every trace of herself that she could in order to not be found, in order to stay hidden to keep her loved ones safe and far away from her. We know the window of her being able to find Viren’s body when neither Claudia nor Terry were there is slim to none. So what changed her mind? What made her choose to not be invisible anymore, to purposefully reveal herself? Even in her Moonshadow form, the cube didn’t glow for her, too consumed by Stella’s primal. Why would an illusion be any different?

Because after all, Moon magic and subsequent illusions are at its strongest at a full moon. We know there can be illusions made that others can see and feel (Lujanne’s fake leg for Ava). We know that Aaravos is getting stronger and that Star primal creatures, like Stella, are incredibly rare, with cuddlemonkeys able to connect to any arcanum as they grow (just like a mini Aaravos, or mini Callum). We know he has familiars like the little bug pal. We know he can influence animals even outside his primal to do his bidding even when he wasn’t out of the mirror at all.

But why a Star primal creature in particular? The thing can’t talk. Callum doesn’t need it to help guide him to anywhere in Xadia. The cube itself already does that, always rolling in the same direction. Why not just have Rayla talk to herself while alone if she needed to (as she has already done in series) and why give her a pet if she’s going to be around people for most of the season anyway?

There’s been foreshadowing for a long while that Callum will connect to the Moon arcanum next. Given that S4 will factor in him reconnecting with Rayla and admitting the truth to himself (aka the small way he deflects about still loving her in 4x01), it stands to reason that Rayla’s symbolic associations will continue to be that of Truth and Light in a positive way. Of seeing through Aaravos’ lies and manipulations. 

This would also mean perhaps Callum not trusting Fake!Rayla whereas everyone else does, and they chalk it up to his hurt feelings. But Callum has always known Rayla far better than she ever wanted him to in show, and he knows when something’s not right (“You know this is wrong” “She’s not telling us everything, I can feel it”). It would also explain this fragmentation that only Claudia (literal light and dark hair) that shares in the Fragments key art with her expression literally split in half, now even more notably fragmented than Claudia. 

Why have Stella be obsessed with the cube, darting out from Rayla’s shoulder to grab and hang onto it, and keep hanging onto it as Callum and Rayla reconcile? It feels a bit like Pip’s foreshadowing all over again. 

We also rarely see non-dark mages wear cloaks, as it is a symbol of dark Callum in his nightmares in 2x08, of Aaravos, and of Claudia’s villain turn in 3x09. Rayla noticeably wears her cloak upon entering, although she doesn’t wear it in any of the other shots she appears in. 

The Two Raylas theory also speaks to Rayla’s continual thematic duality of her markings, her blades, her arcanum, her narrative relationship with Life and Death, as well as Lies and Truth. The biggest thing against this theory though would be the possibility of undercutting emotional moments on the way there, as well as a massive emotional fallout to possibly address, but regardless, I think it’s a really interesting idea if nothing else.

Conclusion

Happy March of the OCs Part 2!

okay, so I don't really write with OCs very often, but I do like thinking about side characters and giving them random backstories and families and things :) So here's some more sims posting, this time with all the characters I've pulled out to pad up the world!

Sara Cavanaugh

Sara is Kat Cavanaugh's sister, and they love each other a lot but cannot stand to be together for longer than approximately four hours. Kat thinks Sara is materialistic and vain, Sara thinks Kat is pig-headed and selfish. They're both right and they're both wrong, as often is the case when it comes to people. Sara does appreciate material things and takes pride in her appearance, and she can be quick to judge based on appearances, but she also works hard for very little thanks and cares very deeply about her community.

Eleanor Rigby

Eleanor is about eight years old, and she's Captain Wayne Rigby's daughter. I picture him as a single dad, and someone he worries about a lot and that a lot of his grouch with Kayo was misdirected anxiety about having to constantly leave Eleanor behind while he was working overtime. Eleanor's super resilient though, and mostly saw bouncing around her friends' homes as a bit of an adventure. She love love loves the outdoors and is a huge 'Into the Unknown' fan. Her biggest dream at the moment is to become a vet at a zoo.

Aidan Hawkins and Theo Hawkins-McCready

I imagine by the time Virgil meets Cass, she's a single mum with two very rambunctious sons, but for my sims save, I'm playing a little further back in the story haha, so meet her fiance, Aidan, and eldest son, Theo. Aidan is a very romantic and outgoing person but it's paired with intense insecurities and poor communication that creates a very tumultuous relationship for Cass. They both love each other, and Cass gets swept up in his grand gestures, but they struggle a lot with co-dependency and trust issues. Cass sacrifices a lot for Aidan at the expense of her career and eventually they split. Theo right now is just super cute lol <3 He's about three or four when Cass meets Virgil, and his younger brother Jordan (not pictured) is two.

Lesley Hoffman, Franklin Hoffman-Casey and Dante Hoffman-Casey

This is Colonel Casey's family :D Lesley is her wife and they have two children, Franklin and Dante. They're good friends with the Tracys through Val of course, and although they grew apart a bit after Jeff disappeared, they're still considered family friends. Lesley and Val met through a mutual friend and connected over their shared love of music and breakfast foods. Franklin is about Kayo's age, just a little younger than John, and Dante is between Alan and Gordon. Lesley "and the kids" get a brief mention in this story here :)

The Patterson Family (aka Space Controller Conrad's Family)

Conrad's family are ultra high-achievers and high-expectations and they expect big things from Conrad - he's the youngest and as he says in the episode Long Haul, his siblings are heroes in his eyes (a fire-fighter, a police officer, and a paramedic) and he feels the pressure. I kinda roll with the idea that he's several years younger than his siblings, similar to Alan being several years younger than his brothers, and so here they are. Anyway, this is them in the sims world! From top left to bottom right: Daphne and Ed, then Lawrence, the fire-fighter, Raelynn, the police officer, and Quentin, the paramedic. I have more thoughts, but they're mostly about Conrad so I'll move on for now ;D

Joanne and Walter Hackett

Joanne and Walter are Madeline Lemaire's parents :) I put the Lemaire's in a big giant house, and then made myself sad by headcanoning that they wanted kids and couldn't have them, and so I moved in her parents to make things seem a little less lonely. They're much more sensible than their son-in-law, but mostly see him as harmlessly eccentric. Walter is really into fishing and constantly taking Lemaire out on the boat for a boys day (which he hates lol), and Joanne is very into throwing dinner parties and trying out new cocktail recipes for her guests.

David Reeves

David is Tycho's twin brother purely because I think I'm funny xD He's a bit geeky and works as a primary school teacher, coaching a kids' football team and things. Because Tycho's busy jetting off around the world, David keeps a guest room for him and takes in his mail and things (I know paper mail probs won't exist but SHH). Their parents died when David and Tycho were in their twenties still, so they make sure they do Christmas and birthdays and things together and catch up as often as possible.

Gregory Moffat

This is Gregory, who is Moffie's teenage son (and also my son) and I am extremely fond of him <33 He's pretty quiet really, and plays bass guitar in a band with his friends. Moffie was a little exasperated, because he learnt the cello first and she had visions of seeing him play in an orchestra and things, but he got into an argument at the first practice and ultimately ditched it. He also like art and architecture and is very loyal to his friends.

The Taylor Family

I love the headcanon that Lucille and Lee are siblings, and I also love that she came from a large family as well (it makes sense in my head) and also I stole @avengedbiologist's idea that all the siblings have L names because I love it. I aged up the family to show you what they look like, but I haven't fixed them up fully so it's just a general idea :D Anyway, here we have Connor and Payton Taylor, and then Leonard, Laura and Lily. Leonard is the oldest, then Laura, then it's Lucille and Lee (twins for maximum ow), then Lily is the baby of the family.

I have actually written them into a story (veeeeeery loosely) here :)

hmm okay so i’m watching your beloved film (‼️PAUSE FOR EXCITEMENT‼️) and when sam goes to get robert to tell him it’s time to go, they’re walking down the hall and sam says “so after a whole day of that, you still want to get engaged?” (i know it’s superfluous to quote this movie TO YOU. but bare with me) sam’s line kind of gave me the impression that she has her own qualms about marriage/true love. so my QUESTION is: do you have any headcanons about her past and/or her personal life? or at the very least just any headcanons about her friendship with robert :))

alsooooo…. if she DOES have these suspected qualms…. does seeing robert & giselle be so happy give her any hope? 🥹

Okay !!! I’m finally going to answer this !!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry it’s taken me so long, I so desperately wanted to but then I’d get home from work and lose all motivation (despite having an answer !!!) But ! I’m here now !!! and it’s my day off !! so let’s dive in~

to start, I don’t really have a lot of like. solo headcanons for Sam, but I do think about her relationship with Robert quite a bit! also, to answer your first question, I do headcanon that she’s married! to a man named Eric, because well. Yeah. it’s very corny, I know, but I couldn’t think of anything better, and now he’s just stuck with that name 😩

but yeah because of that, I don’t think she’s got any issues with marriage or love or anything, I think she just really likes giving Robert a hard time. I think they’re pretty close, and she’s one of the few people that knows a bit about his history with his ex-wife, and they have a good “Teasing Each Other Relentlessly” kind of dynamic.

one of my favorite bits of that first Sam/Robert interaction is that, after she says that line you quoted, she kinda playfully hits his arm and smirks, and it’s just !!! very cute and silly, and I think a very good display of their friendship. and their second interaction is so great, too. when Robert says, “please don’t tell me Mrs. Banks is already here” and Sam’s just, “Mrs. Banks already here !” and when he asks, “perfect, how long they been here?” she laughs and says, “do you really wanna know?” and and ANNNND when Robert tells her to help Giselle and she’s just, “what do you want me to do 🤨🤨🤨🤨” and then she whisper-yells “she has NO driver’s license, NO passport !!!” like soifjsoidfjdijsfjdojfsojds sorry I’m just quoting their scenes and not saying anything new but my point is THEY’RE FUNNY. and I’m very sad they don’t have More scenes together.

but, yeah, okay so I think Sam was basically like. Robert’s only friend outside of Nancy, and later, Giselle and Edward. like he has acquaintances, for sure, but I think Sam’s the only person he considered a Close Friend. I actually have this cute headcanon that, when Robert had to fill out an emergency contact form for Morgan, he’d put himself and then Sam (if he had to put another number, that is) because she was the only person he knew and trusted at the time 🤧

she’s pretty awkward around babies/kids though. there were times where Robert would have to bring Morgan to the office with him, and sometimes he’d ask like, “can you watch her while I go to my meeting, please, please, please?” and Sam just sighs, and agrees, but the whole time her and Morgan are just. staring at each other awkwardly. because they’ve known each other for roughly five years, Sam can read him pretty well, so when he comes in with Giselle and disaster strikes the office, she’s very ??? and she’s even more ???????????? when he comes back the following Monday and is like. so unbelievably happy. and at first she thinks “oh, right ! you must’ve proposed to Nancy!!” but then Robert says, “oh, haha, no, we broke up actually !” with a grin and leaves her absolutely stunned.

and, I think I’ve mentioned before but, Robert kind of keeps Giselle a secret from the office, just for a little while because he doesn’t want any of his coworkers to be rude to her, but the second Sam learns they’re dating, she assumes the worst. and she’s not trying to be rude/mean, but she definitely thinks Giselle is just a strange (very, very strange) rebound to get over Nancy. but seeing Robert so … so happy, it kind of makes her realize, okay, maybe this is real. I guess… 😒 but she’s still a bit hesitant around Giselle for a little while (she did almost swallow Sam’s fish, after all!!)

eventually, though, she gets to know Giselle, because she’s always popping in to say hi, and she asks what everyone’s favorite baked goods are, then brings them the next day, and well. how can Sam hate a person like that ?? I like to think she gets to a point where she’s asking how Robert ever landed a woman like her, which just makes him roll his eyes (but internally, he’s like “I literally ask myself that question every day”)

aaaaand she happily attended their wedding reception, and poked fun at Robert later for being suuuuuuch a good dancer, and sooooo Sappy and Romantic~

in short, they’re besties, your honor 🫡

My theory on why Drac zinged twice

As mentioned in my little story earlier, I said I’d explain my theory behind Drac zinging again, because I know a few people have issues with it, but honestly I think the concept is completely fine!

Now when we hear the concept of a zing, the idea is that you only zing once right? So for Drac that zing was Martha whom he met by chance, and fell in love with. Martha was Drac’s first love (we assume this because no other person has ever been mentioned) and judging by the rest of the couples in the franchise, they were each other’s first love.

Going by the story of Drac and Martha, with of course Martha’s tragic passing, we know that Drac had to raise Mavis alone and watch her blossom into a young woman, all while grieving the loss of his wife. In fact the whole basis of the first movie was watching Drac build the hotel to protect Mavis. But he even states

“I built this place for my love.”

So it is completely evident here how much of a lasting impact Martha had on him. We also learn so much about their relationship from simple things such as the fact he hadn’t sang in public since Martha had passed. But after coming to accept humans with the arrival of Johnny, Drac does seem to come out his shell at the end during the zing song and gets involved. So already we see that he’s trying to move forward. And that’s what I’m trying to get at here.

It’s okay, to move forward.

Now when we get into Hotel Transylvania 3, Drac is already contemplating his loneliness during the beginning when every couple has someone to dance with at Carl and Lucy’s wedding. The fact that Drac is even considering the concept of being in another romantic relationship means he’s thought about it an awful lot.

My take on Drac zinging with Ericka is that he finally accepted his wife’s death. It doesn’t mean it doesn’t affect him, of course it will she was his first love. But just like real life, people do move forward and fall in love again, and that’s okay. The thing holding people back is the reaction of family or feeling of betraying their deceased partner which I think is what held Drac back. He wanted to protect Mavis, not only from potentially losing her, but she never knew her mother, and now her father was suddenly in love with another woman which was probably hard on both parts.

Throughout the film Drac is seemingly confused because he zinged twice, but perhaps unknowingly, as he’s come to accept humans, he’s acknowledged his wife’s death and come to terms with it, meaning he can move forward without carrying a burden. But the fear of betrayal still lies because she was and always will be his wife.

Ericka’s reaction was certainly one to take into account as well. The moment Drac tells her his wife died, her instant reaction is

“How old was your daughter?”

And to be fair the same could be said later when Drac is about to get squished. She sees the look of distress from Mavis, and realises that if Drac were to die, Mavis would be left parentless. And I think this is why Drac also feels comfortable being in love with Ericka, because she values the memory of Martha and wants to make sure he still remembers her while being in this new relationship

One thing I will say though is that I have mixed opinions on the proposal at the end, while I think it was a cute touch, it did feel a bit forced. I suppose like you say when you know you know, but I also personally feel it would’ve taken Drac some time to propose, not just because this relationship is new, but he was married for a very long time to Martha. But I don’t hate the idea to be fair! I think it’s really endearing and shows how much he trusts Ericka.

But the takeaway point here is, it’s okay to move forward and fall in love, I love Ericka’s character and I’m sad people hate it! But let me know your guys’ opinions!

A = Aftercare (What they’re like after sex)

Sarissa: very clingy, touchy snuggling. Like, every square inch of skin on skin contact available clingy. Like, stay locked in an embrace in the same position you were in at the end for hours kind of snuggling. Probably very much "okay now stroke my hair and tell me you love me" vibes. Not a "okay now we're done see you later" kind of person. She's gonna stay there for ages afterwards hugging and saying dorky cute things.

Maevris: probably depends? If it's just a casual thing she's probably ready to leave right after. If it's with gort less casual, probably some more emotionally intimate stuff like snuggling and maybe helping each other clean up etc.

Idk what their favorite parts of their own bodies would be, but

Gonna be honest. This is not a part of sex that I think about very much. Both for asexual reasons and for sensory reasons. But i will say that in all the stuff i write between Mae and Gort, pull out game is the last thing on their mind. If you catch my drift.

Idk man i think Mae's deepest darkest secret is that she actually does enjoy being loved and cared for and treated tenderly. Which is disgusting. To her.

E = Experience

In terms of Sarissa: i kind of alluded to this in the latest chapter, and i have more in depth stuff about it in my character notes. She was like 20 when the Inquisition started and very... not exactly introverted, but it's hard to go have a normal life in your clan when you don't have any family and you're basically the heir to the person taking care of everyone? She's got Aang in the air temple syndrome kinda. She didn't really get opportunities to explore relationships before the Inquisition, let alone anything physical. So, when she leaves home and starts hooking up for the first time with the well mannered hobo apostate elf and he ends up... doing what he does. Well. It certainly adds an extra layer of betrayal and sting to the situation (: She did try to date around a bit (or at least rebound) after the whole Trespasser thing but. Well. Trauma and trust issues (((: i promise i love her i just have to Put Her Through It

F = Favourite Position

Mae is 100% a pillow princess. Okay. So her favorite positions are going to be anything that lets her sit back and let someone else drive. Idk if that counts towards positions necessarily but there you go. Sarissa's favorites are again gonna be anything super touchy and close and clingy. She would probably very much prefer to be facing her partner and very entangled.

G = Goofy (Are they more serious in the moment, or are they humorous, etc)

Sarissa is 100% a little goofy. Mostly in terms of like. Bad jokes and innuendos and anything a little silly. Mae is probably a little more serious, just by virtue of being a lot more no nonsense (especially when Gortash is doing something she considers nonsense (like flirting with her while she pretends to be unbothered)).

H = Hair (How well groomed are they, does the carpet match the drapes, etc.)

Iirc, elves in Dragon Age don't have a lot of body hair to begin with (comparatively). But Sarissa is Dalish, so. Like yeah she's very on top of her hygiene (you have to be when you're outside 95% of your life) but. She would be very much natural in terms of hair. Whatever amount is natural for elves i guess.

For Mae, idk enough about tiefling biology to know about their body hair, but all the tiefs I've seen in the game are pretty hairless? And while yeah she might not bat an eye at being covered in blood and guts, she does have meticulous personal hygiene routines. And very extra ones. She's a cult leader and part god and her boyfriend probably has multiple mansions with the finest bath oils and soaps and etc etc. She's pampered as fuck in that aspect.

I = Intimacy (How are they during the moment, romantic aspect…)

Oh yeah, the romantic aspect is my bread and butter baybee. They're both very emotionally and romantically driven in the moment, though Mae is more loathe to admit it. For Sarissa, it's more of a giggly, butterflies, "you are my person and i just want to be with you all the time" kind of intimacy, whereas for Maevris it's more like. This crushing need to be touched, to be held, to have sweet words of affirmation and affection whispered to her. To be cared for and wanted. Like an anchor, like clinging onto a lifeboat in the middle of an insanely awful and fucked up storm.

J = Jack Off (Masturbation headcanon)

This is another thing i just don't really think about for asexual reasons lol. But going off vibes alone first thought without really considering much detail? Sarissa not really, Maevris sometimes maybe?

K = Kink (One or more of their kinks)

Maevris my beloved you are never going to escape the praise kink allegations if i have anything to say about it. Also the bratty allegations. More on that later maybe?

L = Location (Favourite places to do the deed)

For Sarissa, my first thought was "probably in nature, that would make sense right" but on further thought. I think a picturesque outdoors spot would be a lovely idea to her, but the most enticing aspect of any location would probably be the privacy. Which is hard to get outdoors. Growing up Dalish you learn not to take privacy for granted, so having her own private quarters in Haven and in Skyhold to do ~whatever~ she wanted was a very welcome novelty. Not to say she was above indulging in other locations, though.

For Maevris, probably those big fancy satiny luxurious beds Enver has. Like, we saw the temple of Bhaal. That bedroom isn't shabby. But the unnecessarily lavish and showy and decadent beds Enver has (for impressing company and not himself, we know damn well that man will sleep curled up in his workshop if it's just him) are...something else. A bit like stepping into a different world.

M = Motivation (What turns them on, gets them going)

I saved this one for last bc it was stumping me the most and im still at a loss for like. Specific turn ons? I guess? But in general for Sarissa it would be the kinds of things that give her butterflies and catch her off guard in sweet ways. Like hearing Solas refer to her as his anything (partner, love, vhenan, etc etc) to someone else would make her insides do a little happy dance; hearing him say it directly to her in a ~private moment~ would short circuit her brain (in a good way). Innocent little things like a hand on her back as he passes, bringing her something she didn't realize she needed. He's probably got a lot of court rizz that would set her insides on fire when he used it. For Mae, i think she likes the challenge; or specifically, being the challenge. Very "what are you gonna do about it" "oh yeah? prove it" kind of girl. Homegirl wants to be cornered like a hare and she wants to sass the fox the whole time. This is all a bit of a front to hide the fact that she just wants someone else to be in control and tell her she's a good girl.

N = NO (Something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)

Sarissa's would be multiple people at once. Threesomes and such wouldn't be her vibe. My soft girl also wouldn't be super comfortable with anything rough or harsh. For Mae, i know this puts me in the minority for durges, but anything to do with like. Sexualizing her specifically for the murder and violence aspect? That's her day job, she is taking over the family business but not bc she's super passionate about her work. Not that the violence and blood itself is the turn off part of that, but feeling like she's almost being used as someone else's fantasy? She's above that. She's a child of a god and she's the Chosen of a god. She's nobody's bucket list lay.

O = Oral (Preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc)

I'm positive there's a tweet somewhere from Patrick Weekes saying that Solas definitely eats out so. There's that for Sarissa. But I haven't given it a ton of thought ig. I will say that as far as Mae's concerned? Gale isn't the only ambitious Chosen in Baldur's Gate with a practiced tongue. (as i may have written in this fic)

P = Pace (Are they fast and rough? Slow and sensual? etc.)

All i can think to say for pace is that Mae is definitely very needy. Like, desperate bucking kind of needy. Idk if that counts as pace?

Q = Quickie (Their opinions on quickies rather than proper sex, how often, etc.)

I don't think either of them would be opposed to it vs like, something long and drawn out and w/e? It would probably be depend on the situation but i doubt either of them would be super against it?

R = Risk (Are they game to experiment, do they take risks, etc.)

I am certain Solas learned a lot of neat tricks in his "explorations of the Fade" and Sarissa is definitely down to learn. For Maevris, i feel like it almost goes without saying that any durgetash pairing is gonna have a very high tolerance for risk.

S = Stamina (How many rounds can they go for, how long do they last…)

Uhhh. No idea. Their stamina is however long i can write without running out of new words for penis, i guess.

T = Toy (Do they own toys? Do they use them? On a partner or themselves?)

This is another one i just haven't really put much thought into for ace reasons. But for Mae at least, i feel like if you date an artificer, there's gonna be some kind of invention or tool brought in eventually...?

U = Unfair (how much they like to tease)

Ahahaha did i mention that Mae is kind of bratty? Did you check out the fic I linked earlier? Not so much that she likes to tease, but that she has. A certain enjoyment in pretending to be annoyed at Enver's teasing. And in being vocal about not going along with it while she's very enthusiastically going along with it

V = Volume (How loud they are, what sounds they make)

Let me plug another fic for Mae to say that she has no problem being loud and no problem being heard by others. With the right inducement, that is.

W = Wild Card (Get a random headcanon for the character of your choice)

Sarissa is definitely aspec. She has a lot of parts of my personal experience and make up and that's one of them.

Okay so when i think of yearning, i think of the soul crushing, deep seated emotional need for someone that feels like your throat is closing up and you need them like you need to breathe. Which is definitely Mae when she lets herself be a little more vulnerable. For Sarissa, depending heavily on the point in her story, it's less all encompassing inescapable yearning and more touchy, constant hand holding/arm linking/hugging yearning and definitely "okay but if i do get you alone i wouldn't say no to anything that meant being closer to you."

Z = ZZZ (… how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)

Sarissa is gonna be snrk mimimi not long after most times. She is also not going to let go. We're going to bed now, comrade kinda deal.

Headcanons Driven? 👀

Sorry, that it took me so long, anon! But I really wanted to take time and sum some thoughts up! And I swear that won’t be my last post about headcanons of them!

DRIVEN HEADCANONS pt. 1

Firstly, the basics: zodiac signs: I headcanon Darcy to be (totally) Scorpio. It’s just the vibes she gives. She is dark and mysterious and can be very mean (Scorpios have a sharp tail after all and it shows.) Riven is totally Aries to me, stubborn af and headstrong, and very convinced of himself. Not gonna lie, they have power couple energy.

As long as everything goes to plan, Darcy is very sovereign but she can’t deal with spontaneity – losing control is something she fears. So in the end it turns out that we have the good girl/ bad boy dynamic to an instant after all

→ Riven gets that really quick and loves teasing her that way because he finds her cute when she goes all wahhh *panick* stop that

Talking about that: Riven likes both sides of Darcy. He doesn’t mind getting saved like in 1x8 but (and he prefers) to be the one to do so (like in 1x9. He totally doesn’t mind taking care of her when she needs help).

According to that one above – I headcanon to be both 17+ in the beginning of s1 keep that in mind – both tend to be dom in bed (I like writing couples that way and I totally should consider writing them at some point)

However aside from going after the dragon flame and taking over the universe, Darcy is a devoted student and is definitely someone who learns. A lot and hard. So, it happens quite a lot that she goes to the big library in Magix to study for a presentation etc and Riven just likes watching her learn. She hates it and gets all blushy and can’t concentrate whenever he comes with her and after teasing her enough with his presence he will go and wait for her outside usually with a coffee or something like that

Darcy has totally trust issues. I did not yet have imagined why, but she does. She hates to let go and give someone power over her by doing so.

→ so, in the beginning, she never stays overnight because she just hates being vulnerable when sleeping. After all the beef in s1 I headcanon them to still have their mental bond and because of that getting closer again. However, in that reunion, it will be the first time she trusts him enough to stay overnight and actually fall asleep

→ this is obviously a big step for both of them. And again Riven is a watcher because Darcy looks so innocent in her sleep *v*

Talking about their mental bond: the time in which Darcy was always leaving after ya know making out, Riven would always send mental messages like: Darcy, Darcy. What? Sweet Dreams and she’ll always be like, don’t use this for things like that but will be happy.

Darcy is in general happier when she is with him. For her, it’s a tiny part of normal life she just doesn’t have otherwise (ya know, world domination and stuff)

@ mental bond again: As I said, it stayed after they broke up in s1. The bond wasn’t working in light rock obviously because the Trix had these mind-control headbands there but after that, the connection was back. Riven had tried for a time to contact her out of curiosity. And I imagine that this works as reaching mentally for some kind of mental way to the other person. There was no “way” for him to contact her in light rock because the “way” was blocked but afterward the gate was open again. Sensing that the way is open however doesn’t mean that the person who is to be contacted will inevitably notice that someone is reaching for them. So in fact Riven is the first one to notice that the mental gate is open again. Of course, Darcy is a master in Occlumency but she has to pay attention to notice and as she simply doesn’t think of the possibility, she doesn’t notice until he says her name with makes her going jdkfjkdffdjkdfh omg fck

After they develop that mental bond again and talk from time to time (Darcy has to be careful because of Darkar and her sisters) they notice very quickly that they are definitely not over each other AND from then on, they will always give each other longing glances anytime they meet.

They also avoid fighting each other in general.

two h/cs you never told anyone I found myself rambling a lot in the tags so idk which hc's I didn't end up saying? but at the same time, I have a scattered brain so here you go:

Tadashi used to wear glasses and braces. This isn't to be confused with Tadashi being an 'ugly duckling' before (that's such an outdated notion). Tadashi has pictures of himself from this stage of his life, but he would not show it to anyone until he considers you a close friend.

Tadashi doesn't get angry, but when he does, you don't want to be at the receiving end. His rage was such a wild, violent tornado that he needed anger management classes because it wasn't healthy for a young Tadashi. (He has sent a classmate to the hospital before-) Nowadays as a young adult, it's difficult to get him angry, but he does have his buttons to press.

Tadashi was a former bot-fighter. Sneaked in a third one here. However, I can't elaborate on it as much as I'd like because this needs a post of its own. But the bottom line is that botfighting is different in my canon; it's more physical and personal than having robots fight for the people. It's more of street-fighting if I'm honest. I'll just leave it at that.

three things your character likes doing in their free time: 

doing anything, alone. Tadashi's thoughts are able to be formulated in his mind when he isn't around anyone else; he can hear his own voice. It's hard to believe this when he is surrounded by so many people on campus and is the face of so many things for SFIT but, he LOVES being alone. he can do things on his own accord, he can make mistakes, he can talk to himself without being seen like a weirdo. he can be, himself. some hobbies include: planting, exercising, and taking himself out on dates .. . :')

inventing. It saved him. He invented things at his worst and at his best. He understood it and felt understood by it. It's weird to say that about non-sentient things, but machinery just, trusts you to tinker around with it and it promises you it's going to be a great function in your life forever if you do it right just once.

hanging out with hiro :-) He's the only other person who truly understands him. both have seen each other at their ugliest, and both are nasty asf with each other as far as siblings go. the pranks, the bullying, the sabotaging one another in order to avoid chores, all those good things. but also the memories of sharing their baths in their younger days, the secret language only your sibling can ever understand, and the unconditional support no one else is going to give ... hiro keeps him alive. that is his brother and best friend for life

seven people your character likes / loves: more like, his immediate circle who has seen tadashi at his nastiest-

hurting hiro in one of his bouts of rage. he has physically hurt him once, one punch to his face out of worry (think about that scene in Arcane where vi punches powder), and can never forget about it ever since. right there and then, Tadashi knew he needed help.

as far as everything else goes, if tadashi were to die today, he wouldn't change a thing. "Maybe I have made mistakes and been through my fair share of pain. But all in all, it's been okay, I've lived well :-) "

two one phobia your character has:

fire. though, i wouldn't necessarily call this one a phobia but rather, an element that gets him alert. it does not intervene in his life and he can coexist with it like cooking and enjoying a bonfire, but if he is not in control of it, like smelling it somewhere and not seeing it, he will ask about it and not shut up until it has been handled or he can see that the fire is in someone's control.

How does Other class 77 remnants react and feel about koko

Ok so!! The other remnants opinions on Koko vary wildly lol, so here’s a run down!

Teruteru:

When Peko and Koko were brought back to the group he was very much on team Eat The Baby, and that attitude didn’t ever really go away. Peko doesn’t let Koko anywhere near him or his kitchen, so their paths rarely cross.

Imposter:

Imposter also wasn’t a fan of the idea of letting Peko keep Koko, but they’re very busy and aren’t around the base that often for it to be an issue. But they do help with a later scheme to try and get Koko into despair (which both didn’t work and had disastrous consequences).

Mahiru:

Mahiru is honestly the most rational of the group, if Peko wants to have a kid just let her have a kid, god! It isn’t anyone else’s business! Plus it would give her an opportunity to take tons of cute baby pictures. She likes Koko perfectly fine but her role within the remnants keeps her traveling fairly often so she doesn’t see that much of Koko.

Peko:

This one seems obvious lol, but Peko adores Koko. When she found her abandoned all alone it reminded Peko of her own history and she pretty much immediately decided to make sure Koko would have a better life then she had. That being said, it was a bit hard to make the mental shift from having Fuyuhiko as the very important person she has to protect to that being Koko instead.

Ibuki:

Ibuki is basically the funky wine aunt lol. She’ll waltz into the base with good vibes and random presents. She thinks Koko is a blast, and will babysit as much as she’s allowed (which isn’t all the time, Ibuki’s very loud and Peko has to look out for Koko’s ears)

Hiyoko:

She also thinks Peko shouldn’t have gotten to keep Koko, or at least if Koko gets to stay with them she should have to be in despair as well. Hiyoko really doesn’t want to bother with anything to do with Koko. Babies are smelly and sticky and clingy! Why would she want to deal with all that! Hiyoko also helps with the same scheme Imposter does.

Mikan:

Mikan's feelings are… complicated, to say the least. She thinks Koko is very sweet, and was a big supporter of Peko being allowed to keep her. But Mikan is also crazy jealous Peko gets to be the first one from the class to be a Mom. Motherhood was clearly (sort of) in Mikan's life plan considering the business with Junko’s remains. Koko’s presence sort of just kicks all that in high gear.

Nekomaru:

Nekomaru absolutely adores Koko! Very quickly he just accepts she’s part of the team now, so to speak, and Nekomaru always wants to help his teammates!! He’s also pretty responsible, despite his occasional ridiculousness. He’s the one who most often babysits, and Koko also loves having him around. He’s the first to get to be referred to with a title like ‘Uncle Nekomaru’.

Gundham:

Gundham was another originally on team Eat The Baby, and he doesn’t much care for Koko. He often just refers to her as ‘changeling child’, and was onboard with the same incident Hiyoko and Imposter were involved in. He does sometimes get to tell her outlandish fairy tales and stories, which secretly he enjoys. Koko doesn’t end up being the child he has the biggest issues with, but he doesn’t connect strongly with her either.

Nagito:

Peko does not want this man anywhere Near Koko lol. Nagito was a Huge supporter of letting Peko keep Koko, but it didn’t have anything to do with Koko herself, just the hope he thinks she represents. Nagito is also Very unpredictable, and Peko wouldn’t trust him with the baby at any point.

Akane:

Akane bonds with Koko very early on as well, just a little bit after Nekomaru, even though at first Akane was very down for eating the baby. It wasn’t anything personal! She’d just never eaten baby before! Once it was clear that was off the table she mellowed out and became a fierce protector of Koko. Akane had experience with kids from all her little siblings, so she’s surprisingly good with Koko.

Sonia:

Sonia honestly barely gives Koko a second thought. She voted against her initially, but once that failed she didn’t intervene again. She has just wayyy too much else to do between ruling Novoselic and all the wars raging. And later she uses a situation with Koko as a power grab within Ultimate Despair, and that going smoothly erases any lingering ill will she may have had for the child. Though she does later on invite Koko (and Mimi) to Novoselic and is a bit disappointed they weren’t more excited (she assumed little girls would love to see a real life queen and castle, forgetting they’re growing up during the despair era and didn’t have too many princess like things to look up to.)

Kazuichi:

Kazuichi likes Koko fine, he’s got just a bonkers amount of daddy issues and so he’d never hurt any of the kids. Not even for despair reasons (a shocker to himself and everyone else). Koko was told about dinosaurs at one point and absolutely glommed on to the concepts, so as a surprise Kazuichi built giant animatronic dinosaurs to release into the world. Koko was delighted, and as an added bonus you know, the robot dinosaurs cause quite a panic at the Future Foundation.

Fuyuhiko:

Yeah… so, Fuyuhiko. He hates Koko. He blames her for taking Peko from him and causing a rift between them that’s never really mended. He was the ring leader for the scheme Hiyoko, Imposter, and Gundham helped with, and Fuyuhiko was entirely at fault for its disastrous results. Koko (and his behavior) eventually becomes enough of a contentious issue that Peko gives the others the ultimatum that either She leaves with Koko, or He leaves. After a very heated meeting with all remnants present AND Chisa Yukizome video calling in for the Future Foundation, Fuyuhiko ends up banished from all their communal bases and stripped of any authority he had within the group (though he is allowed to remain as a member of the organization since its something Junko had put in place). And his mental health really only deteriorates from there.

Izuru:

The initial Eat the Baby vs Keep the Baby debate actually ended up as a tie, until Izuru voted. He knew exactly what would happen if they voted no, it was all too predictable. However, the baby presented a rather unique opportunity. The fact that Peko had even found, ran away with, and gotten attached to this child was something he hadn’t expected, and keeping the child around would hopefully prove to be at least a little interesting. So he voted to let her keep it, and was really the only reason their side won. Eat the Baby had Fuyuhiko, Imposter, and Sonia on its side, and those three are the big power houses within the Remnants. Usually them being in agreement on something would have been the end of things. But Izuru out ranks them.

Wait wait wait wait have we considered scar is the one who carries their calf to term?

He’d both be in heaven because he’s so thoroughly doted on and In hell because now Mumbo n cub have to check in on him more and as much as he cares about them he’s so hormonal and protective.

(If he ever got pregnant before, in the past, I guarantee that calf didn’t survive to be born. Either by the nature of bullfighting triggering a miscarriage in his first trimester, or prev owners inducing an abortion with or without his knowledge. Afterall, no crowds want to watch a pregnant bull get beat up. Even if selling the calf would make them good money, it’s too big a risk)

Even more so when the calf themself are born. Maybe because of his various health issues, it’s a rough birth. While Cub n Mumbo were confident Scar would pull through, the calf’s health was in question for a short while.

And therefore, when they’re actually born, Cub and Mumbo immediately begin to check them over. Much to Scars dismay, but at the same time, he’s in so much pain and they’re actively talking him through what they’re doing. Promising they’re not taking his calf, promising him his calf has a steady heartbeat after they check it, telling him theyre just using a wet wipe to clean some blood off real quick it’s okay.

Fun fact: generally when farm animals give birth, the father is kept far from the barn as possible because there’s a serious risk of him attacking the people trying to help. So grian being taken to the other side of the barn by Impulse and Pearl, his instinct sending him up the fuckin walls (he almost attacks Pearl but Impulse is so much stronger than him it isn’t hard for him to stop Grian in his tracks. At which point he breaks down crying. Hormones and instincts man.)

It takes way more hours than anyone would like, and it’s dark by the time Mumbo makes his way across the estate to where Pearl and Impulse took Pearl, but he does so with a smile and a lantern. They’re both okay, Grian can come see them now, he tells them.

Hot take: scarian naming their hypothetical calf Lilac is the best ever. Lilacs aren’t toxic for animals to eat (unlike most poppies) and they have Scarian symbolism.

Poor Grian losing his mind over instincts, once he's let into the room with Scar an their Calf he's just on his knees crying and cooing at their little baby, sososo proud of Scar and just so happy <333
