for the girlies, there’s an exciting new hormone paper:
Pharmacokinetics, safety and bioequivalence of two formulations of progesterone soft capsule in healthy Chinese postmenopausal females: Impacts of a high-fat meal
tl;dr: having a high-fat meal (at ~800kcal) half an hour before oral progesterone increases the absorption by about 7x, which makes it more than competitive with rectal or IM administration!
as far as i can tell (i only play an endocrinologist on group chat), they measured correctly and their data looks solid. i’d love more diverse replication, but this is exciting data nonetheless
so if you want them progesterone gains and are ok with first-pass metabolism (kinda crapshoot, but it’s good for easily half the usual phenotypes), then have a big meal first and you can skip the whole back route!
