wait the post i reblogged before this didn't go through. this is about me making a rook to romance lucanis with before he dumps them for neve.

at the end of the day i think what we're really missing from video games is a romanced companion dumping you because he's been having an emotional affair with one of your other companions the entire time.

#what if you were an assassin who's never been in a relationship before #and then you meet someone who helps you come to terms with the demon inside your head #and you feel so grateful to them. and what is gratitude if not a form of love.#and so when they flirt with you. well. of course you reciprocate.#you'd be an idiot to turn down someone so kind and funny and affectionate who really truly cares about you #but the entire time while you're busy feeling grateful to them and enjoy spending time with them #you also are talking with a sharp funny detective who constantly catches you off guard #and who you laugh with and who makes you feel like you're burning up inside when you make HER laugh #and it's fine. it's fine. what's wrong with having a friend? rook's happy you have her. because they're supportive and amazing and nice #which doesn't explain why you're sometimes grateful for your insomnia because it gives you an excuse to leave (so as not to disturb rook)#and talk with neve. who you know will be awake when it'll be just the two of you. alone.#while her hair is disheveled and her eyes are gritty and tired but her brain is awake.#and sometimes she sort of nods off against your shoulder. which you enjoy because if you can't sleep at least SHE will.#which you care about. because she's your friend.#and then you slink back to rook before they wake up.#and pretend that was just two friends hanging out. normally.#meanwhile neve DOES like him back. obviously. but would never push those boundaries because he's with rook #and she's perfectly fine with compartamentalizing her feelings #no need to ruin a friendship she values #and while she compartamentalizes HER feelings. well. easy enough to just compartamentalize HIS obvious feelings too.#she's not encouraging anything she is NOT going to be someone's shitty penny novel affair #so she's just pretending all of their interactions are normal and in no way toeing the line of intimacy.#WHATEVER. i <3 emotional infidelity <3 #dav
