for no reason (a fic), i spent the last hour(???) trying to learn about the history of local music in austin, tx (idk!) and find out what was the earliest established record store there for what's just gonna be a passing mention lmao. and it's Not maldonado's!

#its either discount 'disc' records (est sometime in 1969 or earlier)#(source? two separate individuals on the world wide web saying they went there in 1969. and evidence is kinda on their side)#or it's volmon's jewelry (a newspaper explicitly states that it was a competitor of maldonado when maldonado began in '67)#(so it was already there. but the only mention of that damn place is the newspaper where i first saw it!)#and sure i couldve just stopped at maldonado and called it a day but the article says it started specifically as a spanish music niche #so it stands to reason other records already existed prior to that in the city #plus im able to parse here and there that record stores Did exist in austin prior to 1967 but i cant find their damn names #anyway none of this even matters!#rambles
