actually i want to just add that i think it's wonderful that people write fanfics regardless of quality and so on; the fact that we create things just for the sake of it is one of my favourite things about fandom.

my problem is that this 1) creates and perpetuates increasingly inaccurate fanon ideas which start being treated as canon, because evidently no one actually checks if it's proven by the books or not, and 2) if i look up fics about specific characters, i want to read about those characters - not what is effectively someone's OCs with the same names.

this enlightened me tbh . it must be a way more common occurence in this fandom that you'd think which would explain sooo much ...

#i just . can't wrap my head around why you would want to write about something you don't actually know anything about?#i feel like actually reading svsss would completely change some people's perception of every. single. character #with some fics i've seen you can very much tell that the writer read the characters descriptions on the wiki and went wild #like. lqgs only trait being that he doesn't talk a lot and is emotionally constipated #or sqh being completely pathetic #lbh constantly crying #like #unironically #and sqq borderline hating lbh and acting like an outraged maiden all the time #seriouslyyyyy like . where's the fun in that #miao
