just wanted to remind everyone that french canadians are technically latin americans.
#the french literally invented the concept#but i think the most important part of this is that it was explicitly invented#to strengthen ties with europe#which is bad#it was trying to undermine the new world identity#and specifically meant to use it to antagonize america and other anglo territories in the americas#and encourage hostility between latin america and anglo america#it's not really conceived that way anymore thanks to the french invasion of mexico so i don't think it's a big deal#but it's something to be conscious of#we need to maintain a strong pan-american/new world identity#but yeah i'm mostly memeing with this post#just using it as an opportunity to muse about stuff in the tags
