Obviously love my man Herodotus but if he could get to the point that'd be useful as well
#i know i know you can't separate Herodotus from his tangents!#but like I'm trying to read 60 pages just to get to stuff about the persians#I don't need to read about how Pisistratus didn't have proper sex with his wife who he married for political reasons#(because of a weird thing that happened at a temple years ago)#and so he fled to eritrea for 10 years before coming back to conquer athens for the third time#like I just need to read about the persians#possibly croesus attacking the persians#that'd be useful#I just need to finish reading book one of the histories#and then read a few different academic articles#and I think I'll probably check out edward said's orientalism#and then i need to write an essay about how Herodotus presents the persians#which i think I'll actually enjoy writing and I'll definitely enjoy reading the articles#I'm just feeling stressed because I need to do a ton of greek and Chinese vocab right now as well all due on Monday#darkeyedghost
