Enough of the moody venty things on my blog,
I present to you my idea of what animals Hybrid!141 (except different animals than what's usually popular) would be I'll write a series for it if enough people are interested 👀animal shifter au also possible??? I'm open to ideas
Captain John Price - Moose While he's not the biggest, I feel it matches his strength in leading terms and in the sense of his larger personality (even if he isn't exactly extroverted). They're the kings of the forest and while they might look cuddly and friendly, you don't want to screw with them or you'll quickly find out why they have that title. He's got that intimidating aura to him
Lieutenant Simon "Ghost" Riley - Badger I KNOW THEY'RE SMALL AND HE'S NOT but look at it! He already has the black and white aesthetic going for him. Not to mention, badgers are solitary animals and can be extremely aggressive, you do NOT want to mess with a badger. They're also mostly nocturnal and as someone who works in the dark, it fits him so well. He's badger coded
Sergeant Kyle "Gaz" Garrick - Shrike (seriously these guys are WILD they're so sick) "What the hell is a shrike" is probably the most common question I'll get for this. This little dude is a BIRD OF PREY. But no, it doesn't just kill them with talons, it IMPALES THEM ON SPIKES. YEAH. BRUTAL. THEY MIMIC SONGBIRDS TO ATTRACT AND EAT THEM. These little dudes are sick and the dual nature and the complexity im eating it UP its so perfect for him. I really think it fits him because his looks can be extremely deceiving (fully agree with everyone who votes him as pretty boy of the year but ofc he's not only that). And of course he's clever and a lot of people won't expect the danger that comes with him?? I swear the duality is just perfect perfect for him
Sergeant John "Soap" MacTavish - Fox Playful, intelligent, and possibly an unpredictable goofball, he fits a fox to a T. I'm also strongly considering otter I'm really tied in it but they're both so fitting??? He's got a bright personality, can be outgoing, and sure has the brains to back it up. He can be destructive when he wants to and needs to have an outlet. Either fox or otter, he's got the vibe. Not too serious most of the time but if they're determined, yeah - best not to mess with them, they have teeth and claws for a reason

I've posted about my various Adventure Time Roleswap AUs, like a billion years ago (actually it was like six) and now that I've got New Artwork and slightly reworked designs for them maybe it's time to re-introduce them!!
So this what I call the "Bonnieverse'! It's a PB-Finn, Simon-Marcy roleswap! More details under the cut:
Bonnie Bubblegum: A young gum-blob girl found in the woods in the outskirts of Ooo and raised in the Crystal Dimension by Bob and Ethel Raincorn. At the age of 12, Bonnie returned to the Land of Ooo to live with her adoptive older sister Lady - and to try and uncover the mysteries of where she came from. Nobody quite knows what she is or ever heard of other “candy people” like her, as far as anyone knows she’s the first of her kind. She's an aspiring inventor - often creating goofy gadgets to help her on her adventures, but she’s still young and inexperienced so they don't always work as expected. While she’s not a bad fighter with her crossbow, she prefers to defeat her enemies with diplomacy or a clever plan. In spite of her cheerful and gentle demeanor, she had a ruthless strike that tends to catch others off-guard.
Lady Raincorn: Bonnie’s adoptive sister, pretty much the same as her regularverse counterpart. Maybe she’s a bit more of an overly nice pushover to provide more drama and to play off her more ruthless sister.
Prince Finn Martens: The young leader the Human Kingdom - a small island-based kingdom inhabited by the last few Humans in Ooo, as well as Hyoomans and other mutants ('Human' is considered more of a national identity than a species). Prince Finn used to enjoy being a thrill-seeking adventurer when he was Bonnie’s age. But ever since his mother, Queen Minerva, died of a plague - he had to step up and be more responsible as the new ruler of the kingdom. He does try his best, even though he’s still a bit of a violent, immature, fun-loving goofball at heart and not doing such a great job dealing with his mom’s death. Might be a bit living vicariously through Bonnie’s adventurous exploits. His steed is his adopted shapeshifting dog brother Jake (who is basically the same as in the mainverse)
Vampire Queen: Once Marceline Abadeer, a fun-loving pre-Mushroom-War rock star who found herself afflicted with vampirism. Marceline found it extremely hard to resist her vampire urges and secluded herself from her loved ones - trying to scare them away from trying to help her. After surviving the Mushroom War, she started hunting down other Vampires on purpose and absorbing their power to be strong enough to survive through the Apocalypse. Which only made things worse for both her self-image and her mental state. The acclimation of not just her Vampire curse, but those of countless other vampires, has really subsumed the original Marceline. Nowadays, she has very little memories of the person who she once was and, as the last vampire left in Ooo, she ‘rules’ over the desolate and gloomy (and nearly empty) ‘Undead Kingdom’. She spends her time trying to frighten people and appear as a terrifying villain (as a subconscious remnant of her desire to push people away before she hurts them or they hurt her) - but it mostly comes off as weird pranks which are (usually) harmless.
Simon the Ice Wizard: A young child when the Mushroom War broke out, Simon was orphaned by the war and was raised by Marceline Abadeer (AKA Vampire Queen). After she abandoned him to protect him from herself, he found himself under the frosty wing of Patience St. Pim, the Ice Elemental - who made him her protégé and transformed him into a powerful immortal elemental wizard. Although their relationship was always kinda distant. All of those experiences and more made Simon on the one hand very protective and kind and on the other hand kinda obnoxiously clingy and socially awkward. Although he's a well-meaning guy and the biggest nerd in Ooo - through a seemingly never-ending sequence of unfortunate misunderstanding he has accidently managed to develop a terrifying reputation as a fearsome merciless wizard. He's mostly interested in playing the drums and collecting and cataloging pre-Mushroom War artifacts. He and Bonnie are get along great because they’re both huge geeks, though he’s overprotective and doesn’t feel comfortable with the idea of a young child being the hero of the kingdom -which brings him to a lot of conflict with Prince Finn (also Finn just generally likes teasing him for being a huge nerd).
#AT Roleswaps#adventure time#atimers#adventure time art#adventure time au#princess bubblegum#bonnibel bubblegum#lady rainicorn#finn the human#finn mertens#marceline#marceline the vampire queen#adventure time fanart#marceline abadeer#simon petrikov#ice king#the ice king#okay to be perfectly honest#part of the reason I am uploading these now is because I've made this nifty new art#but ALSO it's because Fionna and Cake is coming soon#and I'm paranoid something there is gonna do a total 180 of our understanding of Simon and I'll have to revamp all of my AUs#might as well upload them while I am sure they are relevant#it's kind of a silly concern especially since while they all use the name Simon#I've always maintained these AU versions are Ice King counterparts first and foremost#but still you never know...

Title: "Fearful Wednesday" - An Episode of The Office
INT. DUNDER MIFFLIN SCRANTON OFFICE - MORNING
The office is abuzz with the usual chaos, but today something's different. Angela is visibly jumpy, her eyes darting around nervously as she types at her desk.
ANGELA: (whispering to herself) Something doesn't feel right today.
INT. SECRETARY'S DESK
Coco, the quirky intern, has left a bizarre message on the secretary's desk. It's a cryptic doodle of a cat wearing sunglasses and a top hat.
SECRETARY: (confused) What in the world is Coco trying to tell us with this cat drawing?
INT. JIM AND PAM'S DESK
Jim looks over at Pam with a knowing grin.
JIM: You know, Pam, I've got a secret to tell you.
PAM: (intrigued) What is it?
Jim leans in, and just as he's about to speak, Borax, the eccentric IT guy, abruptly leaves the office without notice, carrying a stack of computer cables.
JIM: (frustrated) What’s the deal with IT guys?
INT. DUNDER MIFFLIN WAREHOUSE
Creed is teaching Angela and Kevin how to box with an intensity that only Creed can muster.
CREED: (with a sinister grin) Remember, guys, the first rule of boxing is...there are no rules.
INT. OSCAR'S DESK
Oscar, ever the dreamer, is engrossed in a book about fairies and magical gardens, oblivious to the mayhem around him.
INT. MICHAEL'S OFFICE
Michael calls an emergency meeting, and the office staff gathers anxiously.
MICHAEL: (panicking) Okay, everybody, gather 'round! This is not a drill. Something strange is happening today, and we need to figure out what it is.
INT. COMMON AREA
Simon, the office's resident goofball, is playing with a yoyo, seemingly unfazed by the chaos around him.
INT. KITCHEN
As they discuss the strange occurrences, someone suddenly remembers the forgotten office game - the Rolo Bolo.
STANLEY: (excited) Hey, guys, we forgot about the Rolo Bolo! Let's play!
The office staff gathers around the Rolo Bolo setup, balancing on the teetering board.
INT. CORNER OF THE OFFICE
A mysterious man in a small suit sits silently in a corner, his presence unnoticed by the rest of the office.
PAM: (spooked) Jim, have you seen that guy in the corner? Who is he?
Jim, with a calm smile, reassures Pam.
JIM: Don't worry, Pam. I'll check it out.
INT. JIM'S DESK
Jim returns to his desk, and a memory strikes him.
JIM: (excited) I remember something! Pam, have you ever heard of fairy gardening?
INT. DWIGHT'S DESK
Dwight, always prepared for the unexpected, shines with enthusiasm.
DWIGHT: (eager) Fairy gardening, you say? I've got just the plan!
INT. DUNDER MIFFLIN SCRANTON OFFICE - AFTERNOON
The bell rings, and the children are leaving the school, including the mysterious man in the small suit.
MICHAEL: (as everyone leaves) Don't forget to wash your hands, everyone! We'll solve the mysteries of Fearful Wednesday tomorrow.
The office is left in a state of puzzlement and curiosity, setting the stage for more unexpected adventures in the days to come.

Silent Night (2021)
This isn’t a typical review (cast, plot, narrative, final score…), but more of an essay on finding reasons why the film has left me so distraught by the end of it. And even feeling more so, days later.
If this isn’t your kind of thing, I totally understand 😉 Especially if the film didn’t upset you as much (I am probably a minority anyway!), then this is certainly going to read like a : “WTF is she on about? Get over IT!” So if this you and you simply came for the Silent Night giggles: exit HERE. 😄
*SPOILERS* Warning!
The last couple of days I have made quite a few gif sets of several scenes. So I posted : the funniest scenes, all of the dancing and Goodey just being his adorable funny quirky self. Now out of all of those, there was just this 1 set with Simon & Nell dancing, that hinted at the drama in Silent Night.
If you happen to have stumbled on my gif sets and you haven’t seen the film yet or read any spoilers - you may well think that Matthew and Keira are starring in a very funny and smart festive comedy! Maybe wondering, well where’s the drama then? Or the horror element?
As for the ones who have already seen the film, I hope all the giggles in the gifs helped in some way to process the drama?
The fact is that I’ve been procrastinating writing a review for the last 3 days. During that time I also had no wish no make any gifs or screencaps of the 10+ deeply upsetting scenes. Thinking about writing a proper review, I tried to rewatch the entire film - but I honestly couldn’t handle it and thus failed miserably with flooded tears, after 30 minutes.
So in my case, not only does the ending of the film leave you an emotional wreck - it becomes even more painful the second time round as you know what will happen.
Even though I am fully aware and usually very good at following rule no 1: Never ever confuse the actors with their characters! It’s all just acting after all… Matthew’s superbe but heartbreaking performance - makes it really bloody hard not to in this one. So yes, Simon does make me cry…a lot..in this film.
I have a feeling it’s actually because of the comedy aspect of the film. We see so much of Matthew being his goofball self as Goodey in all those funny scenes - acting as Simon. That when the story flip-flops back into the drama & horror, it’s emotionally challenging to watch Simon’s utter hopelessness, despair and grief. Not that the casual viewer may not be affected too… but let’s face it this is a Goode blog, so you hopefully know what I mean?
Roman Griffin Davis (Art) - where to begin? Your brilliant acting performance broke me young man! Funny, charming, witty and of course Art was the heart and voice of reason in the film. I don’t know what hurts more: to watch Art’s death (the poisoning by the gas) followed by his parents’ grief, or the fact that Art came back to life in that final shot? The punchline of the entire film: “you could have survived the apocalypse if you hadn’t taken the exit pill’’ More poignantly: if Simon and Nell had listened to their son, the entire family would still be alive. Art wouldn’t have to wake up next to his dead parents and siblings - and possibly grow up without any family or friends. I guess that’s why it’s so upsetting: you continue to process all these different scenarios long after the credits.
I get that this film is a dig at the British middle-class and we’re most likely not meant to care so much about Simon and Nell. We are only in their company for 90 minutes, but I would lie if I said that I wouldn’t mind to see that family in a weekly 30 mins comedy TV show. Obviously the parents have their character faults and quite a lot to answer for! Leaving the actual plot of the film (climate change, end of the world, the exit pill) to one side for just one second - I absolutely loved the family dynamics and the interactions with their three sons.
We just saw a glimpse of their relationship, but Nell and Simon are a couple I would be rooting for. After Nell’s mother passes away, they try to find comfort and courage in each other, knowing full well that they have to kill their children and themselves in a few more hours. And… a few beats later we see them dancing to Fame!
See this is one of those perfect examples of what happens with the editing in Silent Night. A heartbreaking moment or a poignant scene is followed by comedy. A true rollercoaster 🎢 of emotions the whole way through. I am really trying my best to get into the mindset of Camille Griffin (director and writer) : “that the comedy is there to deliver and facilitate the drama.“ However if the point of the comedy aspect was to help the viewer digest the drama and storyline of the apocalypse better - and maybe even laugh at the end instead of feeling upset for the characters - then that way of storytelling didn’t work out for me at all! Again I know full well that I am in the minority here, and most audiences will indeed either laugh or simply shrug and don’t care at all. Moving on the next film / tv on the watchlist.
So after all that, do I like the film? YES!! For all the brilliant performances by the ensemble cast and for their perfect comedic timing. Those scenes are a pure delight to watch and re-watch again and again. I would have been very happy spending 2 hours with this funny lot, without the doomsday scenario looming over them. Also that I’m apparently writing a novel… means that the production team must have done something right, or I wouldn’t have been affected this much.
Will I re-watch the entire film again soon? NO! Hopefully will get there after some more time has passed.I do applaud Camille for tackling the subject of climate change, social injustice and the unfairness of life - even in death. I just wished like some other reviewers that she had picked one genre and committed to it fully.
If you’re still here after all these ramblings, you deserve a 🍪 and 🥂🍾
📷 Silent Night (Marv Studios) - all edits / gifs by me.

Good hell, your True Form series is the absolute best! (and totally canon for me tbh). I saw that we can drop you a prompt and I wanted to ask, if you can do one where the obey boys comfort an Mc who lost someone dear to them? It's totally alright if you dont want to! I hope you are having safe and healthy days!
Thankie anon! I hope you are well too! My condolences if you have lost someone ;.; I hope you like this and I’m stoked you like my True Form series!
Diavolo
Loss is not a new concept to him. Like many on the student council, he is well versed in it. The emotional strain can be numbing, and was numbing to him at one point in his life. He can’t really remember it now though. When was the last time he actually felt grief over a fallen companion?
But humans are different. Time is a scant commodity to mortals. Lose could stick to a human for their entire lifetime. When you come to him he is distraught. He hates seeing you in any form of discomfort. The best he can offer you is his undivided attention and shoulder if you need it. He is actually full of comforting and wise words from all the lifetimes he has experienced.
If you need time topside he’ll arrange a portal for you and you just take all the time you need. His program is not more important than family in his eyes. If you would like him to accompany you then he shall gladly. Sends the biggest, yet most tasteful flower arrangement to the funeral home and to the gravestone.
Barbatos
Probably has the hardest time relating to such a concept. The finite idea of time is something he struggles to conceptualize. Unless he physically wipes someone from the planes of existence he can, to a certain extent, simply find them in another stream.
He knows not to offer or bring up that idea to you. You don’t ask him to either. His abilities have ironically a time and a place. This situation is not one of those. It upsets you but there is nothing you can do about it.
He will distract you instead, taking you on errands and shopping trips around the Devildom. He will indulge your human curiosity under his watchful eyes. Then, he will take you to the kitchens and brew you something strong. If you need to vent while he cooks please feel free, he wants to listen. Nothing you say or do will pass through this room.
Solomon
Being human, and yet not, he understands the most out of everyone. He has loved and lost a great deal in his lifetimes. Some of which is still a raw wound on his heart. He is very much someone who will avoid talking about his feelings or things that dredge up his past failings.
If you come to him he will give you coping skills and drag you around the Devildom to take your mind off of your thoughts. He’ll take you for walks or to the woods. Is it dangerous? Yes. But the distraction of self-preservation has always worked for him.
During all of this, he will check in on you. If none of his tactics work he’ll cave, taking you to sit on the nearest comfortable surface. He’ll ask you little things about them or your relationship and reply in kind, albeit stiffly. It’s-nice. Some human bonding he didn’t expect. In a way, you both console each other.
Luke
He’s an angel in training. He can help! Simone has been teaching him! He’s excited but knows he has to tone it down. He’ll recite all the verses and words of wisdom he’s picked up from Simone and Michael.
He’ll sulk a little if it doesn’t help. Well, that’s fine, he will just have to study harder for you! Till then he’ll try other methods. He’s goto is homemade cakes and hugs. He will want you to help baking (he can’t reach the top oven shhhhh).
You naturally take over after a while, and as time in the kitchen progresses you teach him a few recipes that your late loved ones had taught you or were their favorites. It makes you feel better, it’s cathartic. The smell reminds you of home. Luke will memorize each recipe and will make them for you whenever he thinks you're feeling down.
Simone
The first to offer you his condolences and a warm hug. He is very vigilant of you and your mood for weeks after you had confided in him of your loss. His words of wisdom and experience with working with souls were more comforting than with Luke.
He will ask Diavolo to take you outside of the Devildom. Just you, Luke, and himself. You may pick where. Whether it be the mortal realm or the celestial one. If you decide you want to go back home to visit your old stomping grounds then that is where they will go.
You lead him around your familiar territory, pointing out where you and yours would hang out. He’ll buy you things from their favorite stores if you allow it. Humans are sentimental and if a little bobble or trinket will soften the pain in your eyes then it is worth more than gold. Will visit the grave with you to place the things you bought on it. If you allow it will pray from them too.
Lucifer
He lashes out at first when you come to him. It makes him feel vulnerable, his pack mark is infused with your storm of emotions. He brushes off your feelings and bristles at you trying to seek comfort in him. Familiar loss is a very touchy subject to him and bringing those feelings back to the surface for him hurts in ways he does not want to remember. It takes Simone politely (or not) reminding him it’s not about him and perhaps swallowing a bit of his pride would help you both.
He will come to you in the dead of night. He just opens up and talks to you. He’ll sit on the floor of your room with his back resting on your bed and share memories. You both laugh and recount the good, bad, and some ugly memories. You give each other great words of advice and comfort too. You fall asleep holding his hand with a soft smile on your face. Your tears have dried up hours ago. He leaves you to rest feeling lighter and closer to you in the long run.
If you invite him to the wake he will join without hesitation and hold your hand the whole time.
Mammon
He will cry with you. Seeing you like this makes him think back to the fall, it’s a lot for him. He’ll take you out drinking. It’s how he copes aside from gambling and other reckless things. Turns you into the responsible party of the night. It keeps you busy though that's for sure and side-tracked. Though, he will notice when you are uncomfortable and dips from the casinos to lead you somewhere quiet. He’ll pass a bottle between the two of you and talk about anything that comes to mind. He is bad at opening up in public. But alone and drunk, he has a bleeding heart.
He slips into his big brother persona pretty quickly once you two are alone. He may be a goofball around the others but he can be serious when the time calls for it.
He will ask all sorts of questions about them. He wants to know all about them if you are willing. He loves learning about your life and wants to make it better if he can. He will listen with rapt attention and interrupt only to laugh or ask a question. He swears over a greasy plate of food he bought you both at Hell’s kitchen to sober you that if you want him at the wake just ask.
Leviathan
For someone who usually stumbles over his words when you come to him for comfort, he is surprisingly eloquent. He’ll be uncomfortable with physically comforting you until you expressly ask for it.
He’ll try to distract you with video games and asinine conversations while you rest your head on his shoulder and watch. If you’re ok with it he’ll also drape his tail across your lap. The best hug he can give you while his hands are busy with his controller.
He wasn't very close to Lilthe compared to some of the other brothers but he’ll exchange little funny memories he has with you or some cringe-worthy ones to hear you laugh. Between the dim light of his room and the blue glow of his fish tank, you chat until you fall asleep. He doesn’t mind and lets you doze, still filling the dead air with little stories.
Satan
Ah...You have his sincerest condolences. It pains him to admit it but he has never truly felt loss for someone before. Things, yes. A loss of a good book, either stolen by Mammon or destroyed in a fit of rage by himself. He knows that feeling-but those aren’t the same and he knows that it is an ill-suited comparison.
He’ll lend you his ear though. Listen to whatever you have to say, or if you need to cry it out. His arms are always open for you. If you get angry he can help with that. He knows how to channel it all to be productive or temper it so you don’t burn yourself out while you process your emotions.
He-like Levi- will give you sage advice or find just the right words of comfort you need. During the school week if you need a break he will gladly take extra notes or turn in your assignments for you while you take some time off. He will give you some books from his personal library too after an off-handed comment about your late loved ones' favorite genre or author. They are yours if they make you happy.
Asmodeus
Sympathy tears like Mammon. He’ll listen with rapt attention and coo over you. Very touchy when he senses you are troubled. He’ll stroke your hair and let you dumb whatever weighs heavy on your heart. Hugs are the best way he knows how to comfort you.
He doesn’t try to distract you from your grief or your emotions. He knows all too well what happens when one bottles up their emotions for too long. Nasty business that. But, if you want a distraction just ask. He'll give you one. Something nice and (hopefully relaxing) maybe a night out perhaps? Or if you want to stay in he’ll pop in a movie or playlist of your choice and stay quiet. You spend the night in enjoying the physical closeness and no need to express yourself or exert energy trying to vocalize your feelings. He’ll bring out his best snack for the movies too, only the best chocolates and dried fruits for you to munch on.
If you have to plan the funeral or wake he will be there every step of the way if you want him to. He can take the reins if you are just too emotionally drained to do it. If you have ideas or plans for it he will follow them to the letter, no questions asked.
Beelzebub
It’s a lot for him. Even though his sister’s death was a millennia ago it’s still fresh in his mind. But he is strong and will do anything in his power to be there for you. The best way he knows how to cope with such pain is to exercise. If you want to, he will take you to the gym and train with you. Let you tire yourself out on a punching bag or weights.
He doesn’t have many words to say so he will just listen. The best partner for this really, you could go on for hours and he would just sit there and truly listen. He won’t judge how you cope, whether it is wailing or you just trying to act normally around campus. He will be a little bit more clingy after you tell him the news. He knows the tells of a breakdown from his twin so he wants to make sure you are not close to one.
If you invite him to the wake he will stay in the back and offer emotional support. Afterward, he’ll walk you around the local neighborhood and ask questions sporadically about how you're doing. Back at school, he will take notes to you and homework if you don’t feel like going in person.
Belphegor
Stays up with you at night if you can’t sleep due to stress or sadness. You can stay up in his room with him as long as you like and do whatever you need to get through this. Stay up or sleep with him though the day is fine. Though, if you stay up too long he will use the pack mark to make you rest. He keeps a close eye on you like his twin does.
He keeps you up in his attic room with him during the school day. Online classes are a thing and he will keep you content and warm with him till you feel up to snuff. He is smart but just lazy, though if you just can’t get the work done he’ll do it for you to turn in. Whatever, you need a break anyway.
He will fill the dead air while you rest with stories of when he would venture to the human realm with his siblings. He likes to hear stories of your childhood and adventures you had with your loved one too. He won’t offer to go to the human realm with you for the wake. But he will give you an elegant star themed decoration for the gravesite if you allow it.

Fear Street Part 1: 1994 Review: Netflix Slasher is a Scream
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
Three horror films with an arc that spans centuries, released on Netflix weekly: You get a lot of bang for your buck in Fear Street. With each installment existing in a slightly different sub-genre, referencing a whole range of other movies and franchises, the whole thing plays out like a super-packed horror digest. So while its parts might feel derivative, the experience as a whole does not.
Based on the Fear Street books by R.L. Stine, his novels for older teens, Fear Street is gross, gory, and nostalgic enough for adult viewers but also fun and frisky enough to be teen-friendly. Leigh Janiak, whose debut was the eerie horror Honeymoon, heads up all three, bringing a strong Stranger Things vibe—indeed several Stranger Things cast members pop up in Fear Street, including Maya Hawke and Sadie Sink. The director’s clearly a massive horror nerd so this works as a straight up slasher as well as a clever and slightly meta bit of experimental storytelling. On paper it should be a massive hit.
Fear Street Part 1: 1994 is a post-modern slasher which begins as an overt homage to Scream. It’s late night at the mall and a put-upon shop worker is closing up when she’s suddenly attacked by a knife-wielding killer in a black robe and a scary halloween mask, who has apparently already massacred several other mall workers. Who could be doing this and why? Fortunately, it’s not actually as simple as that…
This is just the opener, a setup to show us that murder and mayhem is business as usual for Shadyside, a town which seems to be cursed. Slayings are commonplace and Shadyside’s extended history is littered with normal people suddenly turning into mass killers. Quite the opposite of affluent neighboring town Sunnyvale, where everyone is a jock or a cheerleader and nothing bad ever happens.
Shadysider Deena (Kiana Madeira), our hero, is heart broken after her girlfriend Sam (Olivia Scott Welch) moved to Sunnyvale and started dating douchey football star Peter (Jeremy Ford). But Deena’s nice, if nerdy, brother Josh (Benjamin Flores Jr.) knows the town has way bigger problems than romance after the mall massacre. Josh thinks there’s a pattern, and it all leads back to a woman named Sarah Fier who was executed in 1666.
Shadyside is a town full of outsiders—these kids are the poor and the marginalized, and even those who do succeed, do it in spite of their surroundings. Deena’s best mates are fast-talking overachiever Kate (Julia Rehwald), who deals drugs on the side, and good-hearted goofball Simon (Fred Hechinger) who is responsible for supporting his family. The soundtrack, meanwhile, bangs with ‘90s indie hits from Garbage, Radiohead, The Pixies, and more. This lot are a likeable bunch of weirdos so we’re rooting for them hard through the formulaic stalk ‘n slash first act until things veer into more interesting supernatural territory.
Fear Street ’94 isn’t just another ’90s slasher, it almost aspires to be ALL ’90s slashers at once, throwing extra rules, antagonists, and bits of mythology at the audience thick and fast. But unlike in actual slashers from the ‘90s, there’s way more diversity here and horny teen tropes are twisted in a genuinely funny, playful, modern way. Meanwhile the shadow of Shadyside is pervasive in the subtext.
Parents in Shadyside are strangely absent, the well-meaning but incompetent cop won’t accept what’s in front of his eyes, and the hospital staff are beleaguered or corrupt. No one escapes Shadyside, everyone is doomed, we’re told, but these are scrappy kids who refuse to give up. There’s real peril here, some gloriously gruesome kills, and enough heart to keep you hooked, even though you might feel like you’ve seen it all before.
Fear Street ‘94 works fine as a standalone, but the joy of this series is going to be discovering how all three films are interlinked. Fear Street ‘94 ends with a tease of what we might see in the sequel, Fear Street Part 2: 1978, which is also sort of a prequel and will take us back to Camp Nightwing where a previous massacre occurred.
Fear Street ’94 isn’t actually scary, so it’s not one for hardcore horror purists who might find themselves craving the original ‘90s teen slashers the movie is aping. Yes, these things have been done before, and yes, perhaps done better, but that’s sort of the point. Scream will be 25 years old this year—that’s long enough ago to count as being retro. Fear Street ‘94 is a loving tribute to a particular era, which manages to avoid cynicism in part due to a talented young cast it’s a pleasure to spend time with. And even better, we only have to wait a week to see what happens next.

Fear Street Part 1: 1994 is available to stream on Netflix from July 2.

3. Upon Further Research
Simon was fine. That’s what he kept having to tell himself. It wasn’t like he truly wanted to date Grace St. Catherine. He couldn’t even if he wanted to. He had far too many habits and personal ways that made others uncomfortable or annoyed.
The last woman he attempted to date didn’t like the fact that Samantha had her own room and that she was only allowed to enter it if Samantha had approached her to be friends. If Samantha was uncomfortable, she would mewl about it and he didn’t want that type of upset over someone who didn’t have to live with her adjusting to something she didn’t like.
The last man he dated had an irrational hatred of the fact that Simon purchased multiple types of milk for different times of the day or different kinds of enjoyment. He never thought he would see someone have such a reaction to the fact that he wanted whole milk for cereal and to warm up at the end of the night before bed, low fat milk for milkshakes and accompanying a grilled cheese or a cheese and egg sandwich, and skim milk for drink mixes and casual throughout the day enjoyment. “Just buy one kind of milk and stick with it!” Truth be told, sometimes, Simon also bought 2% milk whenever he wasn’t feeling that great and nut milk for cooking. He just… couldn’t explain that it made a difference to his consumption and couldn’t understand why it made someone else so frustrated.
But, it reminded him that he had unique quirks that people found basically unacceptable. Grace seemed like a cool person, but she probably would be irritated to open his fridge and see 6 different types of milk too. Or to have Samantha refuse to acknowledge her and therefore not be able to enter Sam’s Sanctuary… or even just be annoyed that there was a room with cat trees, a little playground, cat toys, waterer, feeder, etc, and a cat that spent most of her time in the windowsill instead of acknowledging all of the luxury that had been collected for her.
Then again, it was unfair to assume what people might not like about you or your life. He couldn’t know for sure. All that he knew was that she wasn’t interested in going out with him.
That should have been the end of it, but he was very curious about that comment that her coworker made about “another hot date.” Did she have a lot of hot dates? What exactly constitutes a hot date?
Going through her photos didn’t help with that. If she regularly dated, she certainly didn’t like anyone enough to put them on her social media. Though, she did see in one of her comments she said something about VDay “my hands will be full. Worry ‘bout yourself," she’d told somebody who asked if she was trying to get “wifed up for VDay,” as a response to a photo of her in a stunning red dress, captioned with “Beneficiary Gathering #GraceLoveTheKids” She didn’t have a location, so he searched “beneficiary gathering” and came up with SO MANY things. He sighed and went back to her hashtag, wondering if it was common for her.
She used it pretty frequently! There were photos of her at a children’s hospital, photos of numerous kids, some at some center, some at parks and stuff… She really didn’t put a lot of information into her captions. Most people loved to tell you location and event and every single detail. The fact that she didn’t made her more appealing to Simon. She liked her space. He liked his too. He could relate… but also… he needed to know more.
It’s not a violation of her privacy if I don’t use anything against her. I'm just intrigued...
.
A few days after the date debacle, Simon found his way back into the coffee shop, this time with Samantha with him. Grace noticed him come in and sit down, but she was at the cash register, helping a customer out. When she finished, she waved to him, but he didn’t seem to notice. He was petting his cat and scrolling something. She let out a disappointed sigh. Of course, Simon had noticed her. Every single detail, including that sigh. That made him a little hopeful that perhaps she would come over and engage. Maybe meet Samantha, even. She didn’t, though. She worked as usual and didn't seem to even glance his way again.
Grace went across the street for lunch. The little deli had a small selection, but they had something that she couldn’t get anywhere else in town - chicken taco pinwheels - and she was hooked on them. She’d order a dozen of them with two pickle spears, homemade potato chips with cracked pepper and sea salt, and ginger ale with cherries. It was one of the highlights of her day to get that very same lunch any time that she worked. When she was leaving today, she almost ran into Simon. She gasped and hugged her lunch to herself. “Mr. Laurent. Sorry. I’m usually pretty aware of my surroundings. You didn’t sneak up on me, did you?” she teased and winked an eye at him.
“You know… People usually call me Simon,” he said, smiling.
“People call you?” she asked. He blushed and laughed. “Of course I’m kidding. It’s just easier to call you that because of the policy and stuff.”
“The policy?”
“At the bookstore. Normally, they don’t care if you get familiar with regulars and they share their names, but since it’s you, we’re not supposed to bother you and were told that we were to refer to you as Mr. Laurent. It’s part of orientation. I remember very vividly saying, “Well excuse me, Mr. Laurent!” She exaggerated the Frenchness of his name and he chuckled at it, then stopped and looked serious. “Because, I’m kind of a goofball. Didn’t mean anything by it..”
“No, no. It’s fine. I just think it’s weird that they do that. I don’t mind being spoken to like a normal person.” That wasn’t completely true. He hated being interrupted if he was working or doing something with a hobby…
“Okay… Simon, then,” she said with a smile. He could only give her one back in return. “And who is our little pristine friend?” She asked. Samantha was on a leash, and standing, staring, almost as though she were waiting to be introduced to this strange new person.
“This is Samantha.”
Grace stooped down and Simon tensed up. She smiled and said, “Hi, Samantha. I’m Grace. I work at your daddy’s favorite bookstore. I’ve seen a lot of photos of you, and might I say, you are radiant! Exuding opulence! You own EVERYTHING!” Samantha stepped forward and rubbed herself against Grace’s knee. “Oh, you are so adorable, but I can’t pet you right now! I’m holding stuff.” Grace stood up, looking sad as Samantha continued to rub against her shoes until Simon gathered her up.
“She never does that. Sorry..”
“No, she’s majestic. Maybe Daddy will bring you around to see me again some time, sweetie!” She blew kisses at Samantha, nodded her head to Simon, called out, “See you tomorrow, Chief!” (to which the deli owner waved).
Simon came up to the counter and noticed the man staring at Samantha. Maybe he shouldn’t have brought her inside of here. “I’m going to have whatever she just ordered, to go, please?” He waited out of the way, just in case having an animal in their eating space might bother someone.
Her deli order was better than her coffee order, that was for sure, though that wasn’t hard to beat. He shivered thinking about it. He ate in his car and pulled up to a trash bin to discard things. Samantha was sleeping very comfortably in her safety carrier.
Grace got off of work and danced out of the door, holding her perfume laced coffee. She looked up at the sky for a moment, checked her phone. He looked up too. It might rain. She didn’t seem too bothered, merely curious. She walked through the neighborhood, the wind was blowing her sweater and she was drinking her coffee, speaking to various people as she passed them. How did she DO that? Simon barely liked speaking to the people that he knew. She couldn’t have possibly known most of these people, though maybe she saw them everyday, but that meant nothing. Was she cordial and warm all of the time?
She stopped at a florist and he watched through the window as she seemed to know the guy in the flower shop too. They chatted for a while until someone came from the back with what looked like a package. It was one of those big yellow mailing envelopes and the woman who gave it to her walked her over, away from the counter to speak with her before handing it to her and hugging her. As Grace came out, she said, “Thanks! See you next time…” The guy behind the counter rushed to hand her a flower and she hugged him too. Simon… didn’t like it, even though it seemed perfectly friendly and she seemed like one of those people who probably hugged her friends and stuff. Maybe. He didn’t know enough yet. Hadn’t collected enough information.
She slipped her package into her bag, handed her presumably empty cup to the guy and he went inside and threw it away for her as she left. Simon lost her once she went into the train station. But, he felt like he collected enough information for the day. He wondered if this was daily, or if she deviated what she did after work. He continued driving past the station and headed home to work on all of his notes and more research.
One thing that he noted was that aside from her social media, he couldn’t find much about Grace St. Catherine. And, that wasn’t even much to go by, because aside from everything being private, what she shared was still limited.
But. The guy at the florist shop followed her. Simon checked his page. Heath Farmer *152 Simon didn't think much of it whenever he read the generic name, just scrolled through photos. None of them had Grace in them, but she was in his comments a lot and vice versa. It led to nothing.
He clicked on someone else's page who was speaking with them in the comments. Jalicia Barrett * 227 "Huh." He went to find others that he saw speaking in similar circles and several had no numbers there, but there were quite a few others that did have a number listed, and some were kids or teenagers. Maybe something to do with some of Grace's child benefits? He couldn't find what tied them together… But then he saw someone's page and Grace was actually in photos ON it. "Xander Helstrom *747…"
His profile pic was a younger photo of himself with pink hair, wearing a chin guard on his face and a bandana on his arm.
But, all of his current photos indicated he was older now, probably early 20s or late teens. He and Grace seemed close. There was a photo of him with her pet turtle and sliding through the set, it was the day that she bought it. So… they were most likely really good friends, or something else… Simon found himself looking at every interaction between them that he could find. They spoke like they had known each other a long time and from what he could see, this was the only person who had photos of her in her space. Maybe they were in something complicated? He searched Xander's other accounts. His Tweets were mostly about child welfare and social justice. His Facebook seemed similar, but also had memes and photos of himself and memorials for children. One caught his attention. The drawing looked similar to Grace's art style and it was of a little girl with the caption, "In honor of Hazel. She was never a number and she changed us for the better."
There were several people who commented. "To Hazel, never a number." But, then Simon saw Grace's comment.
"Hazel taught me not to worry and not to rush. She helped give me empathy and a reason to fight. I never would have made it without her. To Hazel, never a number. Always a friend."
Simon looked at the time on his phone. "Crap." It was 2 am.
He finished compiling all of his notes and went to bed. He was very curious what those numbers meant, but he couldn't dwell on it at the moment. He'd have to sleep well into the day to make up for staying up tonight. Tomorrow, he'd have to leave his car behind. He needed to know what happened when Grace got on the train.

Scoob! Review
Apologies: I watched the movie two weeks ago, but forgot to write this because I was so busy doing the Dragonball FighterZ thing. But, with that out of the way...
An interesting ride. As a longtime Scooby Doo fan, it was pretty much a given that I would watch this installment by the Warner Animation Group as soon as possible, and I had a pretty good time - albeit with some issue. It’s a fun Scooby adventure, mostly focusing on Scooby and Shaggy, as they go on a new kind of adventure. It’s full of fun references, super charmingly animated action scenes, and lots of humor that actually nails the characters’ goofball antics without diminishing them as the butt of the joke - which is something the previous theatrical series was hit or miss about - which which is also hampered by the fact that it doesn’t really give itself enough time or space to really make any of those things shine.
Spoilers, but only a couple.
The first thing we ever heard about this movie years ago was that it was conceived as a dramatic retool of Scooby Doo into a out-and-out spy series, in order to set up a Hanna Barbera cinematic universe a la the MCU (which, given that they already had a shared universe they could adapt in Future Quest, hit a little hard), giving the impression that Scooby was going to be a pastiche of James Bond. It’s very obvious from the finished product that this concept was since heavily changed, but you still see it in the film. The gang is still the same-old gang - a bunch of kooky teen mystery solvers - but plotwise it’s very much “what if instead of solving a mystery, the gang just fought a supervillain?” Which, let’s be clear, is not unheard of for the franchise: see Scooby Doo and the Cyber Chase for another story that’s mostly just “fight a cool bad guy, with a tacked on mystery,” or the other Shaggy and Scooby-centric stuff like Ghoul School or Reluctant Werewolf for other movies that just plain eschew their usual setting entirely - this is a lot like those. It’s centered around the two characters’ relationship, like pretty much every theatrical Scooby release it seems, as this new challenge almost breaks their union, and the group as usual does very well in that kind of action. Faced with an army of dimwitted robots that can go from silly to terrifying multiple times in the same scene, Scoob and Shag’s typical mix of silly bumbling with surprisingly - and destructively - clever antics make for some great scenes, my favorite being a madcap chase through an amusement park that ends with them getting away on a ferris wheel that’s been knocked of its hinges.
This is very much a movie that wants to be a Hanna Barbera crossover, but is trying hard to restrain itself. As a kid Shaggy was a fan of the Impossibles (who, iirc, were once intended to get a movie as part of this universe) with models and posters that the camera never completely focuses on, you see Laff-a-Lympics on an arcade machine, references to classic Scooby writers and actors as location names (I laughed at Messick Mountain, and the Takamoto Bowl outright went over my head at first), even little things like Scooby bowling like Fred Flintstone or the blink and you’ll miss it appearance of Yankee Doodle Pigeon - and yes, Captain Caveman shows up, fully voiced by Tracy Morgan and kicking butt for a very short scene, with one of his show’s supporting characters (Dee Dee Skyes) as a prominent in this movie’s plot. There’s even musical references in addition to visible ones: at one point, the movie even orchestrates one of the classic bits of Scooby Doo background music. I was hoping for a reference to the classic Scooby Doo / Blue Falcon theme, but alas that was one nod we didn’t get.
However, this approach does work especially well with Blue Falcon - who was originally built up through Scooby Doo, sharing a timeslot, advertisement and technically a theme song, and in time has more or less become to Scooby Doo what Donkey Kong is to Mario: technically a supporting character, but able to do his own stuff every once in a while. There have been several Blue Falcon Scooby Doo crossovers in the last few years (though in terms of sheer number of references this movie’s got nothing on Mask of the Blue Falcon), and they’ve all been very fun as each show, movie or comic reinterpreted the character to fit their specific world - and this movie’s novice Blue Falcon who is kind of an egoistical loser, but turns out to have a lot to learn even from Scooby and Shaggy’s brand of cowardly bravery, grows on you even if he has kind of a rough initial landing.
Unfortunately, this is also a movie that very much wants that rigid hour and a half timeslot, and has absolutely no interest in a going a second longer - and that’s where it’s problems come in. I’ve said before that animated films have become more and more written with expediency in mind: plot points are rushed, denouements are minimized, side or even main characters might not get much utilization, and sometimes things come of as just kind of happening to the protagonists without much set-up. Even the best or the best animation companies fall into these traps at times, and this movie is a good example of what it looks like if you fall into that too much. Take the Scooby gang - Velma, Daphne, and Fred. They’re not really fleshed out that much in this movie, even if they were tweaked a bit with their new VAs - but that’s not necessarily a problem in itself, given the heavy focus on Scooby and Shaggy. What’s more noticeable is where this intersects the plot: for example - one of the better examples of what I’m talking about - the scene that kicks off the whole story. Fred, Velma and Daphne want to expand Mystery Inc, and call Simon Cowell to invest in them. Cowell decides Scooby and Shaggy are incompetent because reasons, and the two storm off. This is later framed as the gang abandoning the duo, that’s not really what happens. Once Cowell hits the scene, beyond one or two lines the rest of the gang essentially ceases to exist, and barely reacts to anything: there’s no moments with them where they seem to buy into what Cowell is saying, there’s nothing beforehand that implies that they’re dissatisfied with Scooby and Shaggy, there’s isn’t even really a status quo for what their dynamic is like. We cut straight from them meeting as kids to them having a supposed fight as adults - this is something that wouldn’t have taken a lot of time, but would have strengthened pretty much everything, from Scooby and Shaggy’s reaction to the trio’s guilt later, but is skipped over entirely. The others get very little beyond being summed up as “the muscle” (Fred), “the face” (Daphne) and “the brains” (Velma), and it feels less like expediency and more like we missed a scene somewhere.
Granted, this particular thing also runs a unique problem that the Scooby gang face. As characters who just turned fifty and who are well entrenched in pop culture, adaptations often assume you know who they already - and this movie definitely assumes you can do its work for it and establish a baseline for the Scooby gang on your own... and on that front, I suppose it does better than the previous film series, which based a lot of its humor on fandom in-jokes they poorly assumed everyone agreed with. But... there’s a degree to which every film needs to establish a baseline for that it itself to trying to do, and I think skipping this hurt the film more than it should have. And it’s hardly the only point where the need for speed cuts out the flow of the film. Scooby and Shaggy get abducted by Blue Falcon, whose assistant then promptly exposits on everything the audience doesn’t know yet about the plot so that they can just skip straight to more action - basically setting up a question and then answering it immediately without set-up. This essentially robs Dick Dastardy - definitely the best thing about the movie - of a strong introduction, in favor of, again, expediency, and it’s kind of baffling given that there’s later scenes where the rest follows the mystery and so repeats that exposition anyway. I mentioned that Blue Falcon himself got a rough initial landing, and that’s because his intro scene is just a lot of new element popping in with exposition, interspersed with pop culture references - and that exposition just stops the whole thing cold for a while. We hit again the “expects you to know” angle with Falcon himself, who is a legacy character of the original Falcon - who we never see, which raises the question of why they bothered to make him a legacy and not just a novice hero in the first place. I’ve always been a strong believer that you can introduce elements without needless explanation unless who introduce concepts that suggest explanation: Scoob and Shag being a fan of the original Blue Falcon, Dynomutt constantly reminiscing about him, and there being a full Falcon organization around which the movie pivots, along with lots of reference, suggest the need for at least a little more than we got - even if it’s just a thirty clip of the way Blue Falcon worked before Brian (the new Falcon) came along - but the movie just wants to rush past it. The entire quest on which the plot is centered it halfway through when we first encounter it, and doesn’t get any explanation at all until halfway through the movie. And then there’s little things like Captain Caveman cameo, which just leave you wanting more.
This happens again and again, with plot points, characters, all sorts - things introduced halfway and then brushed past as though they’re not. People don’t expect much from animated movies, and stuff like this is one of the reasons why - this movie feels sometimes like it was written for tv, which is ironic given how it ended up being released. But the movies that were themselves DTV or released to TV, like Shaggy’s Showdown or Legend of the Phantasaur, the aforementioned Mask of the Blue Falcon or - my perosnal favorite - Moon Monster Madness, even tend to not have these problems themselves, because they’re more measured and precise about what they want to introduce and why. It’s great to be childish, as long you do childish well.
But now that the criticism portion of the review is done, I will say that this doesn’t hamper the movie’s desire to be fun and easy to follow, it just makes it not as much so as it clearly could have been. If you wanted more Falcon, or more Scooby and Shaggy, more Mystery Inc shenangians, more Dastardly, more adventure, more of a certain gag or humor, more of really any of the movie’s best points, you weren’t getting them that much because the movie was trying to do all of them all at once. But one the movie starts getting traction, about halfway through, that starts to fade as everything coalesces. All the characters meet, we finally know what the heck is going on, and it’s just a straight shot to the end with lots of what this movie does best: cool visuals, silly characters doing silly things, and brave characters doing brave things. Much as I wish there was more to the Captain Caveman segment, it’s one of the most visually hilarious parts of the movie, with the stark contrast of these hi-tech, modern character colliding with these explicitly more cartoony prehistoric designs and antics, and its just wonderful. Everything about Dick Dastardly’s story is great - though I was wishing for a Penelope Pitstop reference - and he even gets a heartwarming conclusion to the whole thing.
I don’t know where the series is going after this - whether they do indeed intend to make more Hanna Barbera movies in this vein. The credits teased Johnny Quest, Frankenstein Jr, Grape Ape (who according to concept art was supposed to be in this one), Atom Ant, and even a bit of Wacky Races, and it’s clear they have the love for classic Hanna Barbera to make it happen. I just hope that if they do, they go with a series who can expand this in a more concise way, with a little better character introduction. I’ve still got my fingers crossed for Future Quest.
The film is still very recommended by me. I loved it, I watched it twice, and it a heck of a lot of fun even with its hang-ups. If you haven’t seen it, there are worse ways for a parent, a kid, or just a big ol’ child at heart to spend an afternoon.

who you think is the most is understood or badly represented in the Ace Attorney fandom. you know, flanderized or badly portrayed?
Hard to decide. Phoenix is either portrayed as being kinder than he is or dumber than he is. Phoenix is a kindhearted lawyer but he also has so much sass in his system. The pure and sweet approach only works if you’re writing college Feenie.
I think some people portray Larry as more perverted and more of a womanizer than he actually is. Remember, everytime that we hear about a girlfriend of his, it’s usually them who did the dumping, not him. And considering that he always ends up with super hot model girlfriends, the guy must have some good traits (like being good in bed.). Still, I do think that Larry is a good guy at heart if a bit of a goofball.
Some people portray Simon as more serious than he is. The man spent seven years in jail and it’s alright if you want to explore the kind of damage that it did to him emotionally but even as an incarcerated prisoner the guy had a sense of humor. He even joked about his own execution, for crying out loud! The guy’s gone through a lot sure, but some people make him way more stoic than he actually is in my opinion.
Maya, in my opinion, is one of those characters who I’m always worried about while writing my fics because it can be so easy to get her wrong. What I mean by this, is that some people go too far with making her appear childish and immature and sometimes even make “burgers” her only personality trait. Maya’s very youthful and it’s one of the things I love most about her but that’s not all she is. I don’t really care much about the “Maya gets arrested” jokes because honestly the writers do tend to use her in that role way too much for my liking but it’s not something that I hold against her. I think the thing with Maya is that while writing her, you need to find the right balance between her cheerful side and more serious side. The same goes for any assistant character really.

Faves and fails of SPN (season 2)
Favorite episodes (in chronological order):
2:2 Everybody loves a clown - without a doubt the freakiest intro e.v.e.r. So downplayed and simple. And the boys going through their thing. ”You used to bust out crying whenever you saw Ronald Macdonald.” ”Hey, at least I’m not afraid of flying.” ”Planes crash!” ”And apparently clowns kill!” Among the best exchanges in the entire show. And omg Ellen and Jo, I love them so. And yeah, I can not help but ship Jo and Dean.
2:3 Bloodlust: Sterling k Brown- what a treat. And I’m so for them expanding the world of hunters ; more characters, and bringing the gray scales to the morality of them. Interestingly this is brought up in connection with vampires arguably the most human monster, and season 1 touched on it. Weirdly: Eli the vampire is Benny the vampire. And Tara! Gosh what an episode.
2:5 Simon says - Just the REO Speedwagon scene is enough, but the episode is also a good mix of main storyline, and monster of the week, high and low, funny and tragic.
2:6 No Exit - one of my all time favorites. Jo is in it and awesome, she and the brothers... my heart! A bit pissed that Jo and Ellen are so criminally underused in this show.
2:12 Nightshifter - gooood episode from start to finish, tight. Crazy is the only game in town.
2:15 Tall Tales - Loki/Gabriel! Arguably one of the best episodes in the entire show.
2:18 Hollywood Babylon - I’m obviously here for the laughs. Dean as a PA, the Gilmore Girls reference.
2:21 All Hell Breaks Loose pt 1 - the silent hill vibe!
Fail episodes (in chronological order):
Not found.
Honorable mentions:
The usual suspects- picks up a relevant thread on the boys outstanding warrants, plus Linda Blair
Playthings: The brotherly chemistry is really entertaining in this episode; Padalecki might be kind of a mediocre actor but he works well with Ackles (who’s distinctly better but still a bit of a goofball) Everyone assuming they’re a couple, and Sam getting drunk. I wanna blame his acting or the script, but maybe that’s just how stupid and annoying people tend to be while drunk.
Heart - I’m so torn on Sam’s romantic antics, but the finishing scene, Padalecki’s crying, and Ackles playing off it; heartbreak.
Folsom Prison Blues - episode proof of the insane badassery, getting arrested on purpose despite them being screwed as they themselves previously stated.
Crossroad Blues - Hellhounds! Hellhounds. >:( Another case study in worthy causes, which hits pretty close to home for the boys, and introduces important lore on deals for like the coming thirteen seasons.
Summing up:
When doing rewatches I’ve usually started w season 3 for some reason, but that has been a mistake. Season 2 has no bad episodes.

NCT 127 Reaction to Catching S/O Jamming to Their Songs
Taeil:
You remember when Taeil was nervous about their comeback with “Simon Says”. The sound was completely experimental and he feared it wouldn’t receive positive feedback. You reassured him that this comeback would be a success (it obviously was) and months later still dance to the song. It currently plays from your Bose speakers and reaches its best part: Haechan’s vocals followed by Taeil’s. You lip-sync his high note and continue dancing to the song, trying to nail the choreography to the best of your abilities. Taeil smiles amusedly at your efforts and is glad he has your constant support for his music.
Johnny:
You're sleeping soundly until you get an early call from Johnny saying he's stopping by a café first to bring you breakfast. You mumble out an incoherent response and hang up trying to catch a few extra minutes of sleep. Ten minutes later, your alarm clock blares out the tune of "Cherry Bomb". You groan and shove your head under the pillow knowing it's no use going back to sleep.
Going through your morning routine, the song stays stuck in your head and you can't help singing softly. Minutes later, you're doing the entire choreography in your pajamas. Johnny opens your front door and catches you doing the move to Cherry Bomb (yeah THAT move). He wants to laugh so badly but holds it in so you don't notice his presence. You know you didn't exactly execute the move correctly, but you don't care because it's all for fun anyways. Once the song finishes, he starts clapping and cheering loudly which makes you jump. You sigh in relief once your heart beat stabilizes and punch him in the arm for scaring you.
Taeyong:
Taeyong had to stay behind at SM to do more recordings for the upcoming album. You consider this an advantage and start cleaning up your closet with Spotify playing in the background. A few songs play but don’t capture your attention because you’re too busy contemplating between donating some sweatshirts or jeans. Suddenly, “Whiplash” starts playing and you audibly gasp because that. is. your. BOP.
You fling your sweatshirts and jeans aside and do a full-on impromptu performance in front of the mirror. The music completely consumes your senses as you dance around the room yelling, “Long ass ride!” You don’t make it through the entire song though because Taeyong comes home curious to the music playing from your room and stands there in stunned silence. You acknowledge his shocked expression and simply shrug, “It’s a certified bop, Tae.”
Yuta:
Yuta has been practicing a lot the past two weeks in preparation for their upcoming tour dates. After his rehearsal from today, he races to your place because he finds comfort in your presence (and you have a comfy couch but he won’t dare admit that). You happily welcome him and prepare some snacks in the kitchen before walking back over to the living room and seeing him sound asleep on your couch. Smiling at his peaceful face, you search for a spare blanket and place it over him before returning to your room.
Taking advantage of the silence, you bound to your desk and try completing some assignments with your playlist on shuffle. “Chain” plays out of nowhere and it takes everything in you not to scream and grab Yuta to beg him for more dance lessons. To avoid waking him up from his slumber, you softly sing along while jotting down some notes. Yuta stirs awake at the music and peers over at you from the couch, smiling to himself hearing your attempts to sing in Japanese.
Doyoung:
Today was an incredibly long day and all you wanted to do was unwind with some music and snacks. You hate to admit it, but you've been missing Doyoung a lot lately. Scrolling through your endless playlist, you plop down on the couch and finally settle on "Sun & Moon" because you love the tenderness of his voice in this specific track. You start singing along and eventually the stresses from your day melt away. Little did you know, Doyoung planned to surprise you at your place and enters through the front door listening to you sing his lines. He silently admires you from afar to avoid disturbing your jam session.
Jaehyun:
Jaehyun invites you to the set of a photoshoot for NCT. He promises to spend the rest of the day with you if you wait around for him. Of course you said yes. Who can resist those dimples? Patiently waiting for the shoot to end, you stroll around in the back listening to “Touch”. You can’t help but start mimicking the moves to yourself without calling too much attention. You’re in your own little world until you lock eyes with Jaehyun and realize he saw the entire thing. Cringing to yourself, you pull out your earbuds and tuck them away in your jacket pocket. He grins at you while his hair and makeup get retouches and laughs, “Well don’t stop now because of me!”
Winwin:
Sicheng loves how much you support him and NCT. You constantly praise the group and enthusiastically list off your favorite songs every time 127 invites you out for dinner. That night, you had a little too much of Mark’s “apple juice” so Sicheng decides to drive you home. Helping you enter the front door, you gasp dramatically and utter, “You look just like my boyfriend Sicheng. He’s in an amazing group called NCT 127. Look! Let me show you my favorite song.”
You mildly stumble over to your laptop where Spotify is already open from your previous listening session and play “Limitless”. Swearing you are the coolest person on the earth, you start busting out moves and singing along like you’re a part of the music video. He shamelessly records you on his phone from his seat, but you don’t even notice because you’re too involved in the music. Whenever he is away doing promotions and misses you, he pulls up the video and smiles to himself thinking how lucky he is to have a goofball like you in his life.
Jungwoo:
You wanted to surprise Jungwoo by waiting for him in the practice room. You catch up with social media and watch some Youtube videos to kill time. You decide to watch “Regular” and try practicing some of the moves on your own. Might as well use this opportunity of the spacious practice room! Focusing hard on mastering the dance, you don’t even realize much time has passed. After practicing a couple more times, you lay on the floor covered in light sweat and huff out tiredly.
Jungwoo suddenly appears from above with a surprised and confused look. You sit up and accept the water bottle in his hand. “What are you doing here?” he questions with a slight chuckle. “I was waiting around for you and then kinda got distracted trying to kill time. How did you manage to learn the previous dances for 127 and Regular in such a short time?” He playfully shrugs his shoulders and replies, “It was so easy!”
Mark:
Your relationship with Mark is fun and super light-hearted. However, you refuse to let him see your terrible dance moves when he's a literal dancing machine. The man puts you to shame whenever you see him practicing for a comeback. Your latest guilty pleasure is NCT 127's collab with Lay and Jason Derulo. Since Mark isn't home, you turn up the speakers and blast the song through your apartment while letting loose.
However, Mark arrives shortly and witnesses your chaotic dancing and singing. He can't help letting out a laugh and you turn around mortified. "Wow you're really loving the collab, babe," he teases with a smirk. You love teasing Mark back and decide to turn the tables on him. Singing louder than before and moving your body all around, you belt out, "Jamaican girls wanna blow it down. My Asian girls wanna work it out. Turn around, don't talk-". He stares at you in shock and gets all shy before cutting you off, "Okayyyyy time to go grab some dinner!" He turns off the speakers and drags you out the front door hoping you'll stop singing once you're both outside.
Haechan:
Haechan begged you for a karaoke night for weeks so you finally cave in and promise to go out tonight. Doing your usual routine, you pick out your best clothes and mildly dance or sing along to whatever song plays from your phone on the nightstand. “Good Thing” comes on and that puts you in the perfect mood. Styling your hair proves to be difficult because you can’t stop grooving to the music.
You finally finish getting ready for the date and pretend to sing in the mirror using your brush handle. As the song ends, you strike a dramatic pose and see Haechan silently judging you in the doorway from the reflection in the mirror. “I hope you stay this happy when I score higher than you during karaoke,” he taunts in your direction. You spin around and raise an eyebrow, “Challenge accepted, babe.”

Panels Far, Far Away: A Week in Star Wars Comics 8/21/19
BB-8 rolls to the rescue as Doctor Aphra and the TIES of Shadow Wing fight for their lives.
Star Wars Adventures #24 written by Ian Flynn and Shaun Harris and art by Megan Levens and Manuel Bracchi
Turns out Poe Dameron was a hot shot derring-do pilot even before joining General Leia’s Resistance. Star Wars Adventures this week shows us a BB-8/Poe buddy team up just a few years before the conflict with the First Order would boil over (and also a week before Age of Resistance looks to do the same thing.) It’s hardly new material for fans of these characters or even the first “BB-8 Saves the Day!” comic told in Adventures alone, but the result is a fun little story that is surprisingly more action packed than the sort of fare that this comic usually offers.
This may be the first time in quite a while where the “Tales from Wild Space” segment proves to be the demonstrably stronger comic. I mean, who knew that Maz Kanata hustling a greedy Rodian in a space chess tournament would be such a fun time, but writer Shaun Harris and Manuel Bracchi spin this into a delightful little yarn. It also feels like one of the first stories in a while where the frame story actually proves to have just as much personality. It may be that Harris and Bracchi just have a strong sense of how to tell fun little stories in this universe, but the quick intro and outro to this narrative shows the cast for “Wild Space” at their most organic.
As usual, younger readers are likely to be delighted by the stories contained in Adventures. Older fans may find less to enjoy than usual, but IDW’s all-ages comic is perhaps the most consistent Star Wars book on the stands right now and that has to count for something.
Score: B
Star Wars Doctor Aphra #35 written by Simon Spurrier and art by Andrea Broccardo
Being underwhelmed by Doctor Aphra is not a fun feeling. While part four of “Imperial Super Weapon” may not be as outright disappointing as its predecessor, this is still proving the least successful story in this comic’s history.
This fourth installment follows Aphra as she attempts to escape control of the Alliance while also making contact with the Empire to broker her own safety and freedom using a superweapon as leverage. Writer Simon Spurrier’s scripting is notably more crowded and haphazard here than usual. While past arcs, particularly the stellar “Catastrophe Con,” have proven that Spurrier has a talent for balancing complex narratives with entertaining character moments and set pieces, this issue proves to be jumbled and chaotic. As opposed to last installment which moved the story along at a snail’s pace, issue #35 rockets us through multiple major plot developments and changes in locale while also still delivering a continuation of Aphra’s childhood flashbacks. Some of these plot developments, particularly a brief return by the Dark Lord of the Sith himself, are entertaining and exciting, but it’s hard not to get a sense of whiplash given the rapid pace at which the status quo for Aphra’s mission changes.
As has become expected, the art for this issue is once again a letdown. While Wilton Santos takes the issue off, fill in artist Andrea Broccardo takes the reigns and the results are similarly disappointing. This is odd given how strong Broccardo’s pencils have been in issues of the main Star Wars comic or even this very comic back in the “Screaming Citadel” event from 2017. Whether it’s a new pair of colorists in Marc Deering or Scott Hanna or Broccardo intentionally tried to mimic Santos’s style, the result feels more like an attempt to maintain visual continuity than anything. This means similarly bland and lifeless environments and awkward facial expressions. In particular, Black Krrsantan feels oddly more cuddly and goofball than past appearances and lacks the vicious unpredictability that made him such a great aspect of this ensemble at the start of this series.
There are shining lights though. Aphra’s rocky courtship of the now rebellious Tolvan is as delightful and fraught as ever. There is even a very cute play on an iconic moment from The Empire Strikes Back that is sure to be prime meme material for fans of this now iconic comics character.
As a whole, despite a promising start, it’s almost a relief that we have just one issue of “Unspeakable Rebel Superweapon” left. There’s undeniable thought and ambition for this story, but it comes across as an unfortunate misstep in an otherwise great comic.
Score: C+
Star Wars TIE Fighter #5 written by Jody Houser and art by Roge Antonio and Juan Gedeon
Jody Houser closes out TIE Fighter with a literal bang as the members of Shadow Wing, old and new, exact revenge upon the Rebel Alliance.
TIE Fighter has been a fun experiment in creating sympathy for the Imperial devil and Houser keeps this going here. At this point, these characters are among the most human and plainly empathetic personalities we’ve seen from the Galactic Empire to date. That being said, it is hard not to leave the conclusion to this anti-hero miniseries with a sense of confusion and perhaps indifference.
TIE Fighter has always been an enjoyably readable book with solid art and dialogue from the creative teams involved. This final issue leans back and lets the fireworks fly. Roge Antonio sells this issue with an amazing well executed dogfight sequence that’s among the best that Marvel has put to page. Antonio manages to capture the scale and chaos of the conflict without ever confusing the geography or blocking of our central characters and the result is a battle that feels weighty without ever sacrificing the spectacle of it all. Houser does a strong job of shepherding the ensemble through this sequence and it makes for a great action climax to this series.
However, TIE Fighter just simply sputters out afterwards. This portion of Shadow Wing accomplishes their goal and the narrative drops one more bombshell and the issue stops. It’s a strange emotional beat and an odd moment to close a series on. If this has been an arc of a longer comic it may have been understandable but the nebulous closure to Houser’s script can’t help but feel like a headscratcher.
It leaves one wondering what the purpose of this story was. While the comic was marketed as being a tie into Alexander Freed’s Alphabet Squadron, this doesn’t really prove to be the case. Only cursory details from this story carry over into Freed’s novel and none of the central cast we’ve spent all this time developing are featured at all. To end their story on such an open note is more than a little disappointing. Maybe we will see these characters again? I would hope so. While it may have never wowed, I did really enjoy TIE Fighter and its ensemble of misguided anti-heroes and would be open to seeing them again. Let’s just hope their future is bit more focused.

I’ll Cover You - Part 9
Characters: Simon X OFC
Summary: Simon pays the price for his altercation with Emily’s attacker. Emily confronts Nick.
Warnings: Cursing, Fluff, Angst, Smut
Notes: God I’m having such a great time writing this story and I’m in love with these characters. I hope you all are having as much fun reading it as I am writing it.
After spending the night at Emily’s house Simon awoke the next morning feeling incredibly refreshed. He slept really well and based on the fact that he had his arms wrapped around Emily, they’d cuddled all night long, which probably helped him sleep. Emily was in a deep sleep and looked so peaceful. Simon decided to surprise her with breakfast in bed. He slowly got up, being extra careful to ensure he didn’t wake Emily as he climbed out of bed. He quietly made his way downstairs and into the kitchen. He opened the fridge and pulled out the eggs and bacon. After a few minutes of searching he found Emily’s cookware and heated everything up.
While the bacon was cooking, Simon made some toast and poured each of them a glass of OJ. He looked around the kitchen again and found a large plate he could serve everything on and carry up to the bedroom. Simon put the cooked eggs and bacon on the plate before quickly buttering the toast and placing it on top. He held the glasses of OJ in his hand and grabbed 2 forks before heading back upstairs. Emily was still asleep and Simon felt a little bad for waking her up but he knew she would appreciate breakfast in bed. Simon set everything down on Emily’s nightstand before leaning down to kiss her cheek. “Good morning, sunshine.” He said softly. Emily stirred and bit and groaned as she reached up and rubbed her eyes. “Mm, what time is it?” She asked sleepily. “It’s a little after 9:30.”
Emily turned over onto her back and yawned before inhaling deeply. “What smells so good?” She asked as she blinked her eyes a few times. “I made us breakfast in bed.” Emily looked over and saw the plate of food on her nightstand. She bit her bottom lip and looked up at Simon before sitting up. “You did?” Simon nodded and sat next to Emily before grabbing the plate. She wrapped her arms around his bare torso and kissed his shoulder. “You, sir, are the sweetest man I think I’ve ever met.” Simon laughed softly and shook his head. “I just wanted to do something nice for the most wonderful girlfriend ever.” He scooped up a forkful of eggs and held the fork up to Emily. She wrapped her lips around the fork and licked her lips. “Mm, these are perfect.” She said as she chewed.
The pair talked and laughed as they ate, trying to figure out what they were going to do that day. They decided to spend the morning just vegging and watching TV before Simon had to head to the club. But Emily decided that she would come by around dinnertime so they could eat together. After they were done with breakfast, Emily gathered the dishes. “I’m gonna go wash these but I’ll be back up as soon as I’m done. Don’t move.” She said and winked before disappearing down the stairs. Simon turned on the TV and flipped through the channels while he waited for Emily to return. After about 10 minutes he heard her climb the stairs. She ran from the hallway and jumped back into bed, giggling as she and Simon bounced around. Simon laughed and shook his head. “You’re such a goofball.”
Emily grinned as she sat next to Simon, snuggling up to him as they flipped through the channels to find something to watch. They settled on some 80s movie that both of them loved. They laughed at the way the curse words were edited out of the film. After a few hours of watching TV, Simon checked the time on his phone. “Shit. I have to go.” He said as he stood and walked over to the chair where he’d left his clothes the night before. Emily pouted. “Are you sure.” Simon nodded. “I do. I have to get home and shower and change before heading to the club. But I’ll see you later, yeah?” Emily nodded and crawled to the end of the bed, kneeling and wrapping her arms around Simon’s neck as he finished getting dressed. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close, kissing her deeply. Emily pulled back and smiled up at Simon. “I’ll see you later.” Simon pecked Emily’s lips a few times. “Can’t wait.” He said before heading out. As soon as he left, Emily missed him. She sighed softly and laid back, deciding to take a nap before getting a shower.
Simon went home and quickly showered before changing into a pair of jeans and a t-shirt and his usual black boots before heading to the club. As soon as he arrived, the hostess on duty let him know that the bartender that was scheduled was going to be late so Simon jumped behind the bar to help out. About an hour after he arrived, Negan came strolling in and sat at an empty barstool. “Hey, Simon, you old dog. How are you?” Simon smirked and nodded as he tossed a towel over his shoulder. “I’m good, man, how are you?” Negan nodded. “Can’t complain. So, how’s your girlfriend?” He asked and waggled his eyebrows. Simon laughed and shook his head. “She’s good. We’re, uh, we’re really good.” Negan nodded. “How long has it been?” Simon thought for a moment. “Almost 2 months?” Negan grinned. “Good, I’m glad. You needed someone in your life. She sounds like a good girl from what you’ve told me.” Simon smiled and nodded. “She is.”
After chit chatting for a few minutes, Simon was distracted when 2 police officers entered the club and walked up to the hostess. He watched as the officers spoke with the hostess. She had a concerned look on her face as she looked over at Simon. Simon held his hand up to Negan. “Hang on a sec, man.” Simon walked out from around the bar and approached the officers. “Gentleman, can I help you?” He asked the officers. One of the men looked him up and down. “Sir, are you the owner of this establishment?” Simon nodded. “I am.” “Your name is Simon?” He nodded. “Yes, sir.” “Well, sir, we have a warrant for your arrest.” Simon scoffed. “Excuse me?” The officer handed Simon a piece of paper. “We have a warrant to take you into custody on 1 count of assault.” Simon thought back to last night when he beat the shit out of that little fucker. He must’ve gone to the cops. Simon sighed softly and nodded, deciding not to put up a fight. “Well let’s get this over with then.”
The officers led Simon outside and patted him down before cuffing his hands behind his back. Negan ran outside as they were about to put Simon in the car. “Si, what the fuck?!” He exclaimed. Simon shook his head. “I am choosing to invoke my right to stay silent right now, Negan.” Just then, Simon spotted Emily walking down the street towards the club. “Shit.” He said to himself. She furrowed her eyebrows when she saw the cop car before locking eyes with Simon. She ran down the block towards. “Simon! What the hell is going on?!” Simon shook his head. “It’s alright, Em. Don’t worry about me, ok?” “You’re getting arrested! What do you mean don’t worry about you?!” “It’s gonna be ok, alright? I’ll be ok.” The officers put Simon in the car and shut the door. Emily tried to get them to talk to her and tell her what was going on but they wouldn’t tell her anything. Emily sniffled as a few tears fell down her cheeks as she watched the car pull away. “Fuck.”
Negan put a hand on Emily’s shoulder. “I have a buddy who’s a cop. I’ll call him and see what I can do.” Emily nodded. “Ok, thank you.” Negan motioned for Emily to follow him into the club. Negan pulled out his phone and called his friend. Emily sat at a table while Negan went to a quiet part of the club to talk. He was on the phone for a while before joining Emily. “Did you found out anything?” She asked. Negan nodded. “So apparently last night Simon beat the shit out of some guy named Nick Stevens? Do you know anything about that?” Emily felt sick. “What?” “My buddy said Simon went up to him in a bathroom at some restaurant and slammed his face into the wall. Someone overheard the commotion and went into the bathroom after Simon left and found this guy Nick on the floor with blood gushing out of his nose. I guess the owner of the restaurant recognized Simon and called the cops.” Emily just sat there, unsure of what to do next. “What station did they take him to?” “The one at 15th and Pine.” Emily stood. “I’m going down there to bail him out.” Negan stood. “I’ll go with you. Why don’t you let me drive.” Emily nodded and followed Negan to his car.
Emily was barely containing the rage she felt on the ride down to the police station. Once they arrived, Negan and Emily hurried in to the clerk and were told that Simon wouldn’t be having a bail hearing until the morning. He’d stay locked up unless the charges were dropped. Emily turned to Negan. “Can your friend get information about the person pressing charges?” Negan pulled out his cell phone. “Let me see what I can do.” Negan called his friend and spoke for a few minutes. He walked back over to Emily and handed her a napkin with an address. She stared at it for a moment before taking a deep breath. “Ok, thank you.” Negan nodded. “Do you need a ride there?” Emily nodded. “If you wouldn’t mind.” The pair got back in Negan’s car and headed off. On the drive, Emily went over what she was going to do and say a million times. When Negan pulled up in front of the correct house, Emily’s hands started to tremble. “Do you want me to go with you?” He asked. Emily shook her head. “No, I have to do this alone.”
Emily climbed out of the car and walked up to the front door. She hesitated for a moment before ringing the bell. While she waited for an answer, she pulled her phone from her purse and checked to see if maybe Simon had called with a change in his status. After a moment, Nick answered the door. He had a busted and swollen lip and his nose was bandaged. Emily smirked. He scoffed. “What the fuck do you want?” He asked. “You know what I want.” He leaned against the doorframe. “Oh yeah I do. You want to get with a real man like me.” Emily clenched her fists. “No, you fucking piece of shit. I want you to call the cops and drop the charges against Simon.” “And why would I do that? What’s in it for me?” “Well for 1 I won’t cut your dick off. And for another, I won’t tell them what you did to me.” Nick stood up straight. “What are you talking about?” Emily laughed. “Don’t play stupid. You know exactly what the fuck I’m talking about.” Nick was silent for a moment. “Look, I was drunk, I wasn’t gonna hurt you. I didn’t mean it.” “So you admit it then?” “I know I messed up. I didn’t mean to scare you.”
Emily held up her phone to show Nick that she had been recording their conversation. “So now I have some evidence. Call the cops right fucking now and drop the charges.” Nick sighed heavily before pulling out his phone and calling the precinct. He was on the phone for a few minutes before ending the conversation. “Ok, it’s done. Look, I really am sorry for what I did.” Emily nodded and smiled softly. “I believe you.” She said before kicking Nick in the crotch. He yelped and fell to his knees. “What the fuck?!” He yelled. Emily grabbed his shirt collar and got in his face. “And if you ever come near me again, I won’t be as nice as Simon was to you, got it?” Emily walked back to Negan’s car, feeling like a huge weight had been lifted her from her shoulders. She climbed into the car and looked over at Negan. “Let’s head back to the police station.” Negan nodded and had an impressed look on his face. “Well done, young lady.” Emily laughed nervously. “Thank you.”
They arrived back at the police station just as Simon stepped outside. Emily jumped out of the car and ran to him, throwing her arms around his neck and kissing him deeply. “Oh god I was so worried. Are you ok?” She asked as she clung to him. Simon smiled and nodded. “I’m fine. The officer said the charges were dropped. Do you know what happened?” Negan walked over and put his hand on Simon’s shoulder. “Your girl here kicked some guy in the nuts and convinced him to drop the charges against.” Simon looked at Emily. “You confronted that piece of shit? You didn’t have to do that for me.” “I didn’t do it for you. You stood up for me. It was time for me to stand up for myself.” Simon smiled and leaned down to kiss Emily softly. Negan cleared his throat. “Do you lovebirds need a ride?” Simon nodded. “Yeah, take us to Emily’s place. I’ll get my car from the club in the morning. If that’s ok with you?” He asked her. She smiled and nodded. “It’s more than ok.”
Emily gave Negan her address and he drove the pair to her house. Once they arrived, Emily thanked Negan for driving her around and Simon thanked him for staying with Emily through everything. Negan nodded. “It was my pleasure. Have a good night and try to stay out of jail this time, Si.” Simon and Emily laughed as they got out of the car. They waved as Negan drove off. Emily held Simon’s hand as she lead him into her house. Once inside, she pulled Simon close and kissed him deeply once more. After a moment Simon tried to pull away but Emily held him closer and parted her lips, running her tongue along Simon’s bottom lip. He moaned softly and wrapped his arms around Emily’s waist, slowly sliding a hand down over her ass. She moaned and pulled back from the kiss a bit and pressed her forehead to Simon’s. “I’m still not read to go all the way, but I want…no, I need to feel closer to you.” Simon nodded. “We’ll do whatever you wanna do, baby girl.” Emily took Simon’s hand and lead him up to the bedroom.
Emily kicked off her shoes before stripping off her jeans and tank top. She stood in front of Simon wearing a blue bra and blue and white striped panties. He took a few moments to look her over. “Do you have any idea how gorgeous you are?” He asked her, causing her to blush. “Shut up and take your clothes off.” Simon laughed softly and removed his jeans and t-shirt after taking off his boots. He was wearing a pair of black boxer briefs. Emily stepped closer to him and reached out to run her hand over his abs as she bit her lip. “Sit with your back against the headboard.” Simon nodded and did what Emily told him to do. After he sat, Emily crawled onto the bed and straddled Simon’s waist. He ran his hands all over her exposed flesh; her sides, her back, her thighs. Each new touch earned him a slight shiver. Emily leaned in and kissed Simon passionately. She had told Simon that she needed to feel closer to him. While she wasn’t exactly sure what that meant, she knew she wanted more than this.
Without breaking their kiss, Emily reached back and unclasped her bra. After tossing it to the side, she took Simon’s hands and placed them over her breasts, whimpering softly against his lips as her bare chest was touched by someone else for the first time. Simon pulled back a little. “Tell me if you want me to stop, ok?” Emily nodded before pressing her lips to Simon’s once more. Simon gently kneaded and caressed Emily’s breasts before using his thumbs to lightly circle her nipples. Emily gasped against Simon’s lips. “Oh god.” She moaned softly. Simon started to place light kisses along her jaw and neck, making his way lower and lower. He stopped for a second and looked up at her. She nodded. “Please keep going.” Simon pressed soft, wet kisses around Emily’s breasts before very gently flicking his tongue over her left nipple. She gasped and threaded her fingers through Simon’s hair. “Oh…please don’t stop.”
Simon ran his hands over Emily’s sides, back, and stomach as he licked and gently sucked her nipples, loving the sounds that she was making and loving even more knowing that he was the first person to make her make those sounds. Emily whimpered and inadvertently ground her hips down against Simon’s crotch. He groaned softly as he was painfully hard and the slight bit of friction felt amazing. Suddenly, Simon pulled back, his eyes wide as he felt Emily reach her hand into his underwear. “Are you sure?” He asked her. She nodded quickly and bit her bottom lip. “I want to feel it. To feel what I’m doing to you.” She panted softly. Simon hissed and arched his hips up a bit as Emily wrapped her cold hand around his warm member. “Fuck.” Emily licked her lips as she started to move her hand up and down Simon’s dick. He was longer and thicker than her toy and that scared her and excited her at the same time. Simon was gripping Emily’s hips and his mouth was hanging open as she leaned in to kiss and nip along his jaw. “Please touch me.” She begged softly.
Simon ran his hand down over the front of Emily’s soaking wet panties and groaned. “Goddamn, baby.” Emily nearly cried when Simon slipped his thumb into her panties and started to rub her clit. Sure it felt good when she did it to herself, but the sensation was so much more intense when Simon did it. Her whole body started to tremble. She tightened her grip around Simon’s member and started to pump him fast. “Oh fuck…” She whined softly as she gripped the headboard behind Simon with her free hand. Simon leaned down and started to suck on Emily’s nipples once more as he continued moving his thumb in quick circles around her clit. Emily started to feel that newly familiar tightening in her stomach. She knew was close to her orgasm. “S-simon, fuck, oh god.” Emily’s body arched toward’s Simon as she came, the pleasure washing over like a tsunami as she moaned loudly.
Watching Emily cum was one of the hottest things Simon had ever seen. He groaned and kissed along her neck and collarbone. “Fuck, I’m so close, baby.” He moaned softly. Emily felt completely drained after her orgasm but she wanted to get Simon off so badly. She leaned in to kiss him passionately as she sped up her motions. Simon whimpered softly as he brought one hand up to cup Emily’s cheek, the other was on her thigh, his nails gently digging into her flesh. They swirled their tongues together as Simon felt himself getting closer to the edge. He mumbled against Emily’s lips. “Fuck…just a little more, baby…oh god.” Emily licked her lips and pressed her forehead against Simon’s. Suddenly, Simon’s hips started to jerk as his fingers dug into her thigh. He tried to get out a warning that he was about to cum but it was too late. He groaned deeply as he shot his load over his stomach and Emily’s hand.
As he started to recover, he felt his muscles start to loosen. He laughed softly as he saw the slight look of panic on Emily’s face. She wasn’t sure what to do with the mess currently covering her hand. Simon put a hand on her hip as he leaned over to her nightstand and grabbed a few tissues. He carefully cleaned her hand off before cleaning his stomach and tossing the tissues in the trashcan. Emily blushed as Simon cleaned her off. She leaned in and kissed him softly. Simon smiled and nuzzled her nose. “Was that good for you?” He asked. She bit her lip and nodded. “It was incredible. Was it good for you?” “Definitely.” Simon tucked his now flaccid member back into his underwear before wrapping his arms around Emily’s torso and pulling her close. “How do you feel?” He asked her. She laid her head on his shoulder and sighed contently. “Sleepy mostly. But also really free.”
Simon quirked and eyebrow and looked over at her. “Free?” He questioned. She nodded without lifting her head. “It’s weird but I feel like I was keeping all these feelings and emotions locked away. But being able to sit her almost completely naked while you touched me and I touched you and finding it pleasurable and not at all weird or anything almost like…lifted this weight. I was able to take this step, to do this thing that I’ve been worried about for so long. It’s just really freeing.” Simon smiled and turned his head to peck Emily’s lips. “Well I’m glad I could be of service then.” Emily smiled and moved off of Simon’s lap. “Can we go to sleep now?” Simon nodded. “Of course.” Emily stripped off her panties before climbing under the covers. Simon stripped off his underwear as well before pulling the covers up. He smiled as Emily snuggled up to him. He wrapped his arms around her and gently ran his fingers up and down her spine. She hummed softly, the gentle caressing helping her to fall asleep quickly.
Simon was exhausted but he forced himself to stay awake just a little longer so he could watch Emily as she slept. She seemed to have a smile on her face. Simon leaned in and kissed her forehead softly. This day had been so crazy. He couldn’t believe what Emily had done for him. He couldn’t even begin to imagine how much courage it must’ve taken to confront Nick. She said she did it because Simon inspired her but he knew that was bullshit. Emily was a lot stronger than she gave herself credit for. He smiled to himself as he gently brushed her hair over her shoulder. When she stirred a bit he quickly pulled his hand back before resting it on her hip. Simon finally closed his eyes and drifted off to the most peaceful sleep he’d had in a long time.

The UK has tons of great crime dramas, whether it’s BBC’s Sherlock, which retells the 100-year-old tale for the modern age, or the psychological drama, Luther. British crime shows are completely unique from those in the US. However, the caliber of US crime dramas from HBO and ABC are unrivaled, thanks to the sheer amount of money that goes into them, and that’s no different when it comes to Breaking Bad.

The set, costume design, storytelling, and outlandish characters in Breaking Bad are unlike anything seen in a British drama, but that doesn’t mean the island doesn’t have the talent to fill Bryan Cranston and company’s boots.
10 Mike - Tom Wilkinson
Though Mike (Jonathan Banks) has one of the biggest kill counts in Breaking Bad and is ultimately a pretty bad guy, the audience still sympathizes with him. He’s old and clearly regrets most of his actions in his later life, which makes him one of the most conflicted and complex characters in the show.
Tom Wilkinson is a similar age to Banks, and he has the same regretful, melancholy look, not to mention that he can play a bad guy extremely well, as proven in Batman Begins.
9 Marie - Rachel Weisz
There isn’t too much to Marie (Betsy Brandt) besides her equal love of purple and Hank, but she’s one of the funniest characters on the show, especially with the way she gets on Hank’s nerves by collecting minerals. The character is superbly acted by Brandt, and it’d take a lot to match what the actress brought to the table.
However, Rachel Weisz, though she doesn’t do much television work, would kill it as Marie, as her dry humor in movies like The Lobster is exactly the kind of approach that would be perfect to bring Marie to life in a British version of Breaking Bad.
8 Hank - Robert Graves
Easily most familiar for playing Inspector Greg Lestrade in BBC’s Sherlock, the role of Hank (Dean Norris) isn’t too dissimilar of a role to that of Lestrade. They’re both law enforcers, though neither of them is the smartest, but the characters’ similarities aren’t the only reasons why Robert Graves should play Hank.

Greg Lestrade is a great character, but he was always sidelined and didn’t get much of a story arc in any of the Sherlock seasons. However, by playing Hank, the DEA agent who is tasked with hunting down his own brother-in-law, he’d finally get exactly the story arc he deserves.
7 Kuby - Simon Pegg
There have been some shining examples of stunt casting in TV, and one of them was with Kuby (Bill Burr), one of Saul Goldman’s fixers, as Burr is one of the most world-famous comedians right now.
Keeping up the stunt casting for the same role, though Simon Pegg might not exactly be a comedian, it’d still send fans into a frenzy if the goofball-turned-spy appeared as Kuby. And it isn’t just stunt casting, as Simon Pegg is actually perfect for the role too.
6 Saul Goodman - Damien Lewis
With Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) being the slimiest character on the show, Damien Lewis doesn’t really scream the same vibe, as he was a charmer in Homeland, a billionaire playboy in Billions, and he even portrayed Steve McQueen, the coolest movie star in the world.
However, he’s one of the greatest British actors working today, so he could easily play a down-on-his-luck lawyer. And most of the characters Lewis plays, including the ones mentioned, have some seriously seedy undertones.
5 Gustavo Fring - Charles Dance
With so many credits to Charles Dance’s name over the past 35 years, most are antagonistic roles in some shape or form. And as Giancarlo Esposito has become the go-to actor to play level-headed villains ever since his role of Gustavo Fring, Dance is almost the British version of Esposito, as he starred as the evil Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones, Benedict in Last Action Hero, and many others.
Considering how Dance usually plays his characters as well-mannered but totally sinister, he’s the best option to play the best villain of Breaking Bad.
4 Todd - Matt Smith
Todd (Jesse Plemons) is a tough character to play, as he’s the worst Todd in TV history, due to being completely psychotic and having absolutely no social skills whatsoever, but at the same time, he’s kind of goofy and sort of charming.
Being millions of Doctor Who fans’ favorite Doctor, Matt Smith’s bread and butter is goofy and charming. Not only that, but his career post-Doctor Who shows how easily Smith can play a psychopath, as he plays a psychotic criminal in Lost River and the T-5000 in Terminator Genisys.
3 Skyler - Olivia Colman
Olivia Colman isn’t just Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown, she’s the queen of British television too. From first featuring in sitcoms such as The Office, Peep Show, and Green Wing, she clearly loves television, as even after having won an Academy Award, she still presses on and stars in several different shows concurrently.
And though Skyler doesn’t exactly have the funniest lines and is actually one of the most serious characters in Breaking Bad, nobody could make the role her own more than Colman, as she can play more serious and dark roles just as well, if not better.
2 Jesse Pinkman - Alfie Allen
Alfie Allen rose to fame from playing Theon Greyjoy in Game of Thrones, one of the biggest badasses in a show full of badasses. And though Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) isn’t necessarily a badass (far from it in most cases), Alfie has shown he can act a fool too, as he plays Iosef Tarasov in John Wick and spends the whole movie hiding from the Baba Yaga.
RELATED: Breaking Bad: The Main Characters, Ranked By Loyalty
Allen has developed into such an incredible actor, and as Jesse, he seems confident in the first season but slowly becomes derailed the more he gets involved with Walt, finally becoming a giant ball of emotions in the finale, and the Jojo Rabbit actor would be perfect for the role.
1 Walter White - Peter Capaldi
There are two sides to Walter White: there’s family man Walt and then there’s the evil drug-slinging meth-king, Heisenberg. Bryan Cranston perfectly played both sides and remains one of the best depictions of a man turned completely evil. Not only has Capaldi proven he has the warmer Walter side by portraying the Doctor in Doctor Who, but he would also be a killer Heisenberg too.
Peter Capaldi has perfectly shown off how great he is at being wholly evil, as his iconic role as the evil spin doctor, Malcolm Tucker, in the political dramedy The Thick Of It (which was the influence for the more famous Veep) is one of the greatest performances of the 21st century. It shows how much power he can have over people, just like Heisenberg.
