Went to a really cool Japanese culture festival yesterday -- I wasn't sure if it would lean more towards serious culture or weeb territory, but it ended up a pretty even mix of both 😂

It was a really good time hanging out with some super nice new people and trying out a local event! I even got a little Sayori charm as well as earrings that look a lot like Mappi's ;--;

fav characters: PENNY!!! i love her a lot! she’s my favorite ever she is so me OH MY GOD I LOVE HER.. i also really like arven, nemona, rika and carmine. and most of the sv cast. they’re all great I LOVE TEAM STAR A LOT. TEAM STAR LOVER ME I LOVE THEM

i also like anzu kinashi, yuri + sayori (ddlc), and toko + syo fukawa!!!! i’m not interested in them as much rn though.

POKEMON STUFF: ive played alpha sapphire (i remember almost nothing. i played it in second grade.), sun and moon, sword, and scarlet + violet!! my favorite game is sv, but sun + moon and sword are also great.. i really like lillie and sonia!!! fav character is penny though. my favorite pokemon are tinkatink, tinkatuff AND tinkaton!! i love them all.. i also REALLLY like jirachi, eevee + the eeveelutions, CHARCADET, mabosstiff, ogerpon, and a lot more probably. i’ve also watched horizons!! at least what’s out on netflix in the US. i’ve also watched the scenes with penny because i could NOT wait!! ive seen most of the sun and moon anime too, but i never got to finish it 😭 ive seen some of journeys too.. i did watch the episodes with sonia and i think two seasons maybe but it was in 2022!!!

ships?!? i am not that interested in ships right now (surprisingly) but i really like giarven, mela and eri, rika and geeta, and NEMOPEN SOMETIMES!! there are probably others that i forgot about. OH MY GOD WAIT I LOVEEEE LIKODOT!!!! A LOT!!!!

the three choices and reasonings are….

Sayori from DDLC- She was my initial choice- i’ve been wanting to do that as my costume for several months. also my hair is like,,, the perfect length and i really do connect with the character and yeah cons: not really in the fandom anymore? cant find costume Materials and also the possible misery of someone in school recognizing me and having to explain why shes my costume choice.

2. Ocean Or Penny from Ride The Cyclone- i have been seeing SO MANY cool cosplays and i just rrrhg aauugh eeeeeek i want in. Cons: less well known characters, not as clear designs, harder to pull off. (this is coming from many years of being characters no one knew or recognized including one particular year i was Lucy Pevensie when i was a wee lad and NO ONE KNEW). but rtc cool and a costume from it would be so hype

3. Heather. either Mac or Chandler. Pros: fucking HEATHERS COSTUME RAAH. Cons: eternal shame from my friends.

For the Halloween costume post:

- Yuri has big vampire energy. But also could do super well with like, some kind of old book themed look. Was sleepy hollows a book? She could do a killer headless horseman with the right materials. She'd probably love Frankenstein but a costume for that doesn't fit her style too well. Idk, those are the vibes I'm getting from her.

- Monika would absolutely be a witch. If we're talking game world she'd absolutely make a broom fly then fall off it like 3 times trying to work out the balance. If not then just generally she loves the vibes and such. She'd probably spend kinda scary amounts of time working out how to make practical effects to make like a glowing orb or something with lights and stuff. She'd kill it in the cosplay scene and Sayori and Natsuki would absolutely wanna drag her into all that.

- Sayori I think would love simple but practical. Sheet ghost but she has a swegway/hoverboard and actually glides. That or she decides to suprise everyone and do stage level makeup for a hyperrealistic zombie, complete with fake blood and scars and shit. She strikes me as having a theatre kid side and being super into the practical effects and shit. (Also imagine Sayori secretly having insane voice control too. Can just do the Black Ops Zombie Noises on command)

- You didn't ask for Natsuki but Cosplay. That is all.

(also I love the idea of them trying to suprise eachother with outfits but also asking eachother for help a lot. Girlfriends together strong!)

Hey, this seems like something you could help with... where do you think just liking a character ends and kinning begins? Some of my friends seem to think I kin Komaeda and I've been playing along with it like a big joke. I really enjoyed Komaeda's character despite finding his actions reprehensible and did some voice acting/cosplay stuffs as him. I relate to him more than I feel I should - is that, really, what kinning is all about? Curious about your thoughts.

i've actually wanted to talk abt my thoughts on this for a bit, so this question can perfectly timed !!

now, my opinion on this is very long, but i'll try and put a tldr at the end !!

alright, so, this all depends on how you define kinning. there are multiple ways and reasons to kin, so let's start by explaining that !!

the most common definition of kinning is relating to a character so much to the point that, in some sense, you believe you are them or you have this certain connection to them that's more than them just being a comfort character.

the original definition of kinning has to do with past lives, and having memories of a life as animals !! since fictionkin wasn't coined/talked about until after otherkin and therianthropy were !!

now, i have a lot of kins. but a lot of them are sympaths and copinglinks, aka non-spiritual kins. a lot of my kins are for fun, comfort, and coping. which, is super duper valid !! but i also have kin mems, especially for sayori, as she's my highest kin.

what you described could totally be komeada being a sympath or copinglink kin (the difference, to my understanding, is that sympaths are purely/primarily for fun/comfort kins, and copinglinks are for coping reasons) but he could also just be a big comfort character !!

take my comfort character nekomaru, for example. for a good while, nekomaru was my absolute biggest comfort character. i'd think about him a lot, want to look at content of him forever, and even considered adding him to my kinlist. but, ultimately, i realized that i just super loved him and his character, and that i just started morphing to be more like him.

but if we take hina from drthh, she is a sympath of mine. i don't have any mems of her and she is purely for fun and comfort, but she was one of my comfort characters for a long time. i always lived and appreciated her character, but once i played the game myself, i realized i related a lot to her and she's exactly like what my ideal version of myself is.

so, ultimately, i cannot tell you whether or not you kin komeada or not, that is something you'll have to figure out for yourself, but you are so so valid regardless of whether he's a kin or a cc !!

tldr/closing thoughts; kinning is a unique experience to everyone, and however you choose to identify your personal relationship to komeada is valid and i wish you the best figuring that out !! sorry if this was a rambly and unhelpful mess, it's 5 a.m. and i haven't slept yet lmao

also, please take all of this with a grain of salt bc i haven't done super extensive research on this (which is sad bc i've been wanting to for forever-) and, once again, it's 5 a.m.

Today was the day of Con and I was absolutely anxious and excited at the same time.

We were all packed into Dad's van and which Sayori and Natsuki sharing a seat, we all fit.

(Best Friend) has been trying to keep me calm on the way there.

The girls have been awful quite.

"Are you guys okay?" I asked them.

"Yeah, it just seems this day would never actually happen." Said Sayori and Natsuki agreed.

"It's like someone has been avoiding this for awhile." Said Natsuki, looking somewhere. Maybe a hidden camera?

"You do remember what to tell people when they ask who you are?" Asked Mom and I turned to face her.

"That we are cosplaying who we actually are, yes ma'am." Said Yuri.

"Good." She said. She clearly didn't think this was a good idea at all but I spent most (all) my money for everyone to go and have money to spend.

"So what's there to actually do?" Asked Monika.

"Look around, see really cool things, spend to much money on Said really cool things." Said Jack. "(Y/n) did you really have to give us all these bags? People might think I'm associated with you."

I sighed. I bought really cheap bags for everyone beside my parents and I didn't want to exclude my brother.

"Jack please. If you dont have it, you'll lose all your money without actually buying anything. I see how you organize things." I told him.

Then everyone just fell into a rhythm of everyone talking to each other.

Until we got to our destination.

Mom handed everyone their bracelets, to make it know we are supposed to be there.

"Me and your father is going to look on our own but all of you need to stay with each other." Said Mom, looking at me and Jack.

"Of course." We said and they left. (Best Friend) grabbed and pulled me along for other to follow us.

"Come on! There is this Artist here that I want to see." They said and I sighed, I didn't really mind.

"Then can we see if there's Steven Universe stuff somewhere?" I asked.

"Oh can we?" Asked Sayori.

I must have gotten her hooked on that show, opps.

"Fine..." said (Best Friend).

They had ended up buy a Deadpool drawing that was really well done.

Sayori and I was looking at the different areas, looking for Steven Universe merchandise.

I had found a hat and I instantly bought.

"(Y/n)! You look so cute in that hat!" Said Sayori and I blushed at the complement.

"Did you find something you want?" I asked her and she held out a button and she was wearing another. The being held out to me had a heart and a heartbeat line across it.

"I got it for you." Said Sayori, blushing "Since we wouldn't be here without you." She whispered. "So my heart beats for you."

"Awwwwww. That is the sweetest thing I've ever heard." Said a stranger. "Such a cute couple. I love your Sayori cosplay."

"Thank you! I worked really hard on it." Said Sayori before engaging in a conversation with the stranger.

Her button was like my hat. Yellow star over red, like steven universe shirt.

I was pulled away by Natsuki.

"Hey! We have to stay in a group." I told her.

"I want some manga and I don't want to be alone." She said, not stopping pulling me.

We reached where they were being saled. I looked over a few and pointed out a few I've seen the anime of.

"Oh, 'Kiss him, not me' is a good one." I said but Natsuki seemed to make her mind up on one already. All I saw of it was it was very pink and she had it in her bag and she dragged me away. We had gotten to a place with barely anyone.

"Another one and Natsuki?" Asked the same stranger. "You really must be the romantic to get another doki doki literature girl." Said the stranger and got into a conversation with Natsuki.

Yuri showed up, with a new book and bookmark. She seemed super happy.

"They had an area with horror stuff and it was so brilliantly put together." Said Yuri. "And also!" She said before pulling out a keychain with a little Yuri on it and gave it to me.

"You bought your own merchandise and why are you handing it to me?" I asked, Yuri suddenly got flustered.

"So you'll have something to remember me." She said before seeing the stranger. "You've been making friends?"

"No, Sayori and Natsuki just got recognized by the same person." I told her and the stranger saw Yuri.

"Did all your friends cosplay the girls?"

"Yep. I'm gonna go look for Monika. Yuri keep an eye on Natsuki. Don't lose her in a crowd."

"Hey!"

Monika had stayed with Jack. So (Best Friend) and Sayori are probably together.

"(Y/n)! Come look at this!" Said Monika and I moved closer and saw she was holding a Rose Quartz necklace.

"Dang, that would look really good on you Monika." I told her before seeing she had her own necklace with an emerald on it.

"Well I bought it for you." She said before sliding it over my neck. "There, it looks better than it did by being on you." Said Monika kissing my forehead.

"So you are like the main character!" Said the same stranger. I'm getting tired of this person finding me. Jack saw the displeasure on my face.

But before anything could happened the lights had turn off and I was pulled away and towards the stranger. They kept me close as they navigated us away from Jack and Monika

"I am happy to finally meet you (Y/n)." They . "Even though I am a version of you."

"What the hell is that even suppose to mean?!" I yelled.

"Don't you understand? I was the that had to force myself out of that game."

Then I remember.

"You're suppose to be the main character!"

"Ding ding!"

Perhaps it was too soon to try flirting with Sayori. After all, she was just your childhood friend, Sai thought to herself. She thought she’d be sly with her attempt; taking her shot as their generation would say. Or something modern like that. There’s also the possibility that Sayori doesn’t feel the same way towards her which Sai needed to get through her thick skull. 

❝ Ah, mon ami. It’s, er... Synthetic? Whatever this cosplay’s made out of. Eheheh... I don’t really know myself. Can you check for me? I feel kinda itchy too. I just wore this because I thought it was cool...
