update!
this has been added to my rules when it comes to "characters I'm not interested in writing with" (nothing happened, I literally forgot to add it to this blog)
characters who don't know mine in canon and are super hostile, which means mine will have to submit to it and be ooc if we want the thread to continue. I have had way too many experiences when I'm supposed to have my female character beg for attention from a stranger (?) and I simply dropped the threads, it soured the trope for me. If it's canon or if we talk ooc and are plotting ways to make yours accept mine or give mine reasons to stay anyway, it's fine.
//Plotting can solve this, as I said, but you need to want to plot if yours is the hostile one (just like I'd ask directions if mine was the hostile one) and give me a reason why my character shouldn't turn around and walk away from the thread, or we can plot how yours can calm down. Either way, I am not having MORE threads where my character acts like an idiot following around someone they don't know who doesn't want them there, it's boring and out of character in pretty much every case. When it's canon it's fine because CANON gave us reasons to make ours interact and we are likely heading to ways to make them bond anyway!
#fallout is a perfect example: lucy was only around the ghoul when forced and ran off asap BUT canon gave them a reason to join forces now#and she'll stick around because she (and all of us) are assuming he'll behave differently. plus WE know the characters and can make educate#guesses as to how to go on next. If you give me a stranger who thinks she's beneath him or stupid? she's ALSO walking away end of the threa#unless we plotted differently. but if they keep insulting her? even if forced to stick together she doesn't have to talk to them#and she WON'T. so the thread may as well be over unless we did plot how to make things better. and that goes for all my muses

Yeah so I partly agree here. aGoY is gonna be difficult to adapt. A bunch of CGI strange talking animal creatures slowly getting butchered in a fantasy land whilst a human girl watches on... a transphobic murderous ancient witch slaughters a fake man and rips off his face so he will tell her his secrets... who goes on to date the lead character... who has a tiny role in the whole story who we basically never see...
Thing is we did catch glimpses of the GoY plot on season 1 with Barbie and Martin Tenbones. I still think they will adapt some of it because they included those scenes and mentioned the porpentine crystal and I doubt they would drop it completely after using those elements in S1 which would obviously get GoY fans excited.
But I can see them changing it and combining it with other stories. Even with the graveyard scene I dont think Wanda is gonna "die" the way we see it. An illusion of death perhaps? Or a choice to carry on as a servant of Dreams (which would lead in to Brief Lives if she is indeed taking over from Ruby in being Dream and Deliriums Waking World guide and chauffeur). 100% agree they will expand Dream's role in the story - thats already clear from the set pics since Dream should not be in that scene if it was a straight comic adaptation, but he is, so his role in any GoY plot is definitely gonna be bigger. Which GOOD as far as I'm concerned. Keeping focus on Dream is prob the best decision the creative team could make to ensure a general audience remains engaged.
Also as far as Thessaly goes I am standing firm by my spec that they should swap her for Johanna Constantine. Meaning they drop the no mortals rule for the Endless and let Morpheus have the messy short term fling with Johanna that I want him to have (it would go down far better with the audience than introducing yet another magic user character, especially one who is already so unpopular with Sandman fans).
I think the further we go into Sandman as a show, the further it will deviate from the comics. As much as I adore the comics I don't think thats a bad thing at all. Logistically they will have to go through the huge comic character lists and decide where they can merge and remove characters and expand the roles of others - so they arent dealing with a huge cast of guest stars with only limited actor consistency. I think we need to be prepared for the fact that we may not get to meet some of our fave comic characters in the show at all, and accept that other characters will get larger roles in the growing universe.
I also think that huge important plots will have to change. I truly hope they DON'T try to adapt Orpheus-the-sentient-decapitated-head because it won't work. They are gonna have to be very clever here and come up with something that'll work for that particular plot without cutting all the threads that connect it to the wider story - but if I have faith in anyone to do that, its Neil Gaiman.
Lady Bast is another one I'm not sure we'll meet, unless they get really clever with the furry make up? Do we think they'll lean into the furry thing? Are we gonna see Dreams fursona!?! 🙃
So yeah there are things that work in comics that dont adapt well to live action and I'm curious to see what they are going to do.
SANDMAN SPOILERS
(Im a slut for spoilers)
Soooo we got Tom, Kirby, and Indya Moore filming in a graveyard. There is a mysterious red book. Clearly set in modern times. Indya looks very glamourous and at one point is holding hands with Death.
So my speculation is that this is Wanda's graveyard scene (its not announced but it does look most likely that Indya will be our Wanda? Maybe? Who else could this be?). The presence of Dream and not Barbie however is rather interesting. Then again we know that Wanda is getting some form of expanded/combined role so perhaps this is a deviation from the comics? Who knows!
Still its exciting. Credit to the *gag* Daily Mail *gag* for doing what they do best and spying on film shoots and celebrities.

Did you notice in the Finn-twitter thread that Kim said that they're not interested in love triangles? Gives me a bit more hope that we won't get a BE/BR - Bellarke love triangle
Yeah. They’ve said that before. But they also said they didn’t like what happened with the 3 month time jump between seasons 2 and 3… so beware.
But I do not think they are at ALL heading for romantic BR, as there is no tension coming from either Raven or Bellamy in their relationship. And at SDCC Bob called Raven Bellamy’s “second.” This is in no way romantic. Unless you have a boss kink. Which I don’t. And I don’t think Raven does, either, seeing as she should come first.
And while there is tension from Echo, there is none from Bellamy. There is definitely a story to be told there, but I think it might be more along the lines of forgiveness and understanding and character development rather than romance. Redemption arcs.
I’m not ruling out the possibility of sex or romance over the course of 6 years I just don’t think it’s important, it’s not the story they are telling. If there is romance, to have an important romance that has an effect on the larger narrative happen off screen is not wise. They gave Bellamy a romance over a break, but Gina was not about the plot, she was about Bellamy’s character and motivation. And her story ended early.
I know the fandom loves to ship and relates everything that happens to romance and every character becomes a possible romantic/sexual partner, but I just don’t think this is the point of the show.
There are clearly romances, but maybe we should look at what role each of those romances play in the larger narrative and themes. They are PART of the story. They use romance as a TOOL in telling their stories, but for the most part, the point is NOT the romance. With the possible exception being Bellarke– although even that may be a metaphor for unity and becoming a whole person.
I don’t know. I can’t say they won’t do romances up there. I can’t say there won’t be jealousy on earth. I think it likely that we WILL see jealousy from Clarke, but it might not just be about romantic Bellarke and who might have had sex with him, but about Clarke being on the outside, not belonging. Not being one of them. She was already feeling isolated and like she didn’t belong, separated, and that was before she was separated for 6 years from them.
She’s not a delinquent any more. She’s not spacekru. :(
So here’s what I’m saying. Don’t write off the possibility of jealousy, romances even some slight or perceived love triangles. I don’t see BR or BE as romantic, but that doesn’t mean nothing will be there. But I think what we should do is look at the relationships and consider WHAT story those relationships are telling in the grander narrative.
I know people don’t like their ships or favorite characters to be considered tools in the narrative, but that’s absolutely the way storytelling works. Every single character is a tool for the narrative, even the main characters, whose development is PART of the narrative. A good writer uses the characters RUTHLESSLY in pursuit of a good story. A good writer ALSO creates complex, well developed characters who the audience connects with so that there is an emotional stake in following their story. A good writer makes you love their character, and makes you care what happen to them in the story. So it all MATTERS.
